DVD Menus and Flash

wonder if someone can help me, im trying to make a DVD menu in flash, it this possible?
any links to tutorials would be greatly appreciated
thanks a lot

No, not directly. You will need to use a DVD authoring tool like Encore or DVD Studio to build the actual menu. You can use Flash to create the individual artwork or parts of the animation to be used in the authoring tool.

  • Popup Menus and Flash

    Hi All,
    I have created a you-beaut pop-up menu in Fireworks 8 and
have it sitting on the webpage just nicely however, on the page is
a Flash slideshow as well. The Popup menus are hidden behind the
    Flash content
Now I have read all the stuff about making wmode transparent,
    but it makes no difference.
Has anyone else come across this problem and found a
    solution?
    Thanks all.

A little reserved? I'm rabidly opposed to it. A menu system
    that can
generate > 3000 lines of css should be thrown in the
    toilet. I don't pick
that number lightly - it was actually on a menu that was

  • Pop-up menus and Flash image

My development page has two things on it that are conflicting
with one another. I have a flash movie, and a pop-up menu. I would
like the menu to pop over top of the flash object, but quickly
learned that certain objects naturally float up to the top -
    Thread
    - But, the fix on this thread won't work for what I'm trying to do.
Is there any other way to get my menu pop over the movie? I
noticed the adobe main page has its menus overtop the flash movie,
so it must be possible, somehow. . . right?
    Here's my
    Test Page if it
helps to see what's going on. The pop-up in question is located at
    "What We Do" -> "Programs"

The key is a special Flash parameter called WMODE, short for
    Window Mode.
You'll need to add this parameter to your movie, set to
    transparent. The
fastest way in Dreamweaver is to select your Flash movie and,
    from the
Property inspector choose Parameters. In the dialog box that
    opens, add
wmode in the Parameter column and transparent under Value.
    That should do
    the trick!

  • Drop down menus and flash

    Here's the site:
    http://www.oldshoecreative.com/CLS/
In IE, I cannot seem to get the drop down menus to appear in
front of the swf files that runs below them. I've tried the "wmode"

get it right in IE. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem and Í can't find the solution

  • IStat Menus and Flash

Will iStat Menus work (be accurate) with the flash memory in my new MacBook Air? Thank you.

Yes. iStat pulls its data from all of the same places as the various Apple features do.

  • Custom DVD menus

Hi there, this is my first post, I just want to know if there's any chance to build custom dvd menus and how to do this, instead of use the default menus examples provided with Idvd, thanks a lot!!

    To the questioner:
    My advice:
Learn the themes which have drop zones which you like (places to put moving video or still pictures) then drop in your own background image or images. I usually edit a still picture from the video I'm using on the dvd. You can set the dvd/tv screen dimensions in Photoshop and do what you can't do in iDVD. Lay out more complicated text or process the image, and factor in the button scheme you want to use in iDVD. The results can be quite spiffy.
To the responder who reccommends DVD Studio:
At what point do you move the project from iDVD to DVD Studio? And can you put in a movie to play when a 'scene' is selected, before the video itself? I mean like the transitions iDVD can do, but an actual video instead. I have the program, I just haven't used it yet.

  • DVD Menus lost in 8.0

Upgraded from Premiere Elements 3.0 to 8.0.  When I open an existing project, the preview screen does not show the DVD Menus and templates that had been created.

Though this applies to Transitions, and not Menus (the topic here), one nice feature that I encountered in PrPro 2.0, when I had to Import several Pr 6.5 Projects. One of the Pr 6.5 Projects had two Transitions that were no longer included in my later PrPro version, plus one third-party Transition. When the Project first Imported, PrPro notified me that there were missing Transitions. It then went about giving me complete details of what the Original Transition's name was (even pointing out that one was a thrid-party Transition), and the exact TimeCode, where they had been used. I was surprised at how well these old Projects Imported, especially as they were from the Mac and I was on PC with a version of PrPro, that was no longer available for the Mac. PrPro treated these older Projects perfectly, and all it took to get up to speed was a pencil and paper to jot down the missing Transitions and their exact location in the 8 hour Project.
Now, I'm talking Transitions (not Menus) and PrPro (not PrE), albeit an older one, Importing a Pr Project, a very old one and from a different platform. I could only hope that PrE is half as nice with older Projects, though I would still strongly suggest that all users finish their work in the version in which it was started to avoid any issues.
Now to the Menus in PrE (earlier). These files are basically "sets" of two .PSD files, with a standard naming convention, keeping them in sets. It's easy to add additional Menus, like those available for purchase, or by subscription at Muvipix. If one has an older version of PrE, with different Menus, it would be easy to copy those Menus to the appropriate folders/sub-folders in the newer version of PrE. Unless PrE has greatly changed the way that Menus are stored and implemented in PrE 8 (Steve, or ATR can verify this), these copied Menus (remember, they are SETS, so copy both the Main and the Scene Selection Menus) should function perfectly in PrE 8.
Also, using the Blank Menus, or really any other, and a bit of Photoshop work on the Background, one could customize the included Menu Sets to match those older, lost Menu Sets.
IIRC, Steve has done a series of articles on how to customize Menu Sets for PrE at Muvipix.
    Just some observations and ideas,

  • Flash menus and html

Hi. I have a question that I hope won't be too complicated. I
have two Flash objects (A Top horizontal bar and a Flash menu)
inside a number of html web pages: <
    http://www.mikelrouse.com/>
What I'd like is that the Flash objects not reload every time
you selct a new page. I think there are two ways to do this: 1.
Have the whole site as a Flash document (probably to difficult for
    me right now) or
    2. I've seen sites where a new html page is loaded but the
menus and/or Flash opjects seem to "stay in place", meaning they're
    not reloading each time.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to do this in
    Dreamweaver?
I would oh so grateful. Thanks in advance!

  • How to burn a powerpoint 2013 presentation to a DVD R and or USB flash drive.

My Powerpoint 2013 slideshow includes photo's, clip art with transitions and animations and embedded music.   I want to
burn this presentation to either  a DVD disk or a USB flash drive and send it to a friend.   My friend has a windows 7 desktop
computer and a DVD player attached to a TV.   Ideally I want to know how to burn the presentation to a DVD so that the presentation can be played back on the TV using the DVD player.    I do not want to lose any of the transitions
or animations when I burn the presentation to a DVD.          I know most TV's have a USB connection but have no idea how this works if the
presentation is copied to a USB flash drive.   What are my best options to keep the integrity of the presentation intact, and how do I go about doing this?   I need detailed instructions please.   Thanks in advance
    for your assistance.

    Hi,
The factor of keeping the integrity of presentation when you burn this presentation to either a DVD disk or a USB flash drive depends on performance of DVD disk and USB flash drive.
There are two ways to put PowerPoint presentation on a DVD convert PPT to video.
    1. Convert PPT Files To DVD is to use a screen capture software.
    2. Convert and Burn PowerPoint Presentation onto DVD would be to use a professional PowerPoint to DVD converter software.
    For more detail information:
    http://worldclassmedia.com/how-to-convert-powerpoint-files-to-dvd-put-a-powerpoint-presentation-on-tv/
If your TV doesn’t have built-in processors or Windows installed, it can’t run PowerPoint presentations in their native environment from a USB connectors. If so, you should convert it to video format first.

  • Are there any good DVD authoring programs for Mac now that Apple has discontinued DVD Studio and iDVD? I need to make DVDs that have interactive menus and such (Final Cut X and Compressor 4's DVD option is a little cheap). Any ideas?

Are there any good DVD authoring programs for Mac now that Apple has discontinued DVD Studio and iDVD? I need to make DVDs that have interactive menus and such (Final Cut X and Compressor 4's DVD option is a little cheap and doesn't provide any kind of professional DVD authoring). Any ideas?

This comes up a lot these days.
Practically speaking, there are really four options for the Mac platform: Toast (<$100),  Adobe Premier Productiom ($1,600 to buy or $50/month to rent),  find a copy of Final Cut Studio from 3rd  party (+/- $1,000 new) or a boxed edition of iLife to get iDVD ($50 - $90 on Amazon new).
The other question everyone has is how many OS versions before iDVD or FCS breaks? No one knows, but Apple has said they're no longer supporting these legacy apps. Of course, no one is mandated to upgrade to a new OS unless they buy a new computer. So if it works on a system, stay with it as long as it makes sense.
    Good luck.

  • How do I convert an entire PAL DVD to NTSC, menus and all?

    Hello everyone,
I've been given a set of PAL DVD's which need to be converted into NTSC. Now, from my understanding, there is no one program available that can do this, so I've had to rip all the video tracks off, convert them to NTSC mp2's and author the DVD from the ground up in DVDSP, build a VIDEO_TS file, then use Toast to compress to a single layer DVD and burn. If anyone knows a program that can convert an entire PAL DVD to NTSC, that would be greatly appreciated.
The next problem is that when I burn any of the DVD's and put them in a duplication tower (I'm not sure if that's the actual name, but it's one of those machines where you just put the original disc in the top drive and fill the other 8 or so drives under it with blanks), it says that the burn has failed. I have tried another duplication tower and end with the same result. One option I have not tried just yet is to change the brand of media I'm using to burn, but will do so next chance I get.
I'm not sure if the two problems are related or not, but I just thought it would help.
    Thanks in advance.

    2 options.
    1) Best option - only available if you have the source material - Convert source material from PAL to NTSC using the Nattress standards converter.
    http://www.nattress.com/Products/standardsconversion/standardsconversion.htm
    or the JES deinterlacer:
    http://www.xs4all.nl/~jeschot/home.html
It's also possible to do this in Compressor but not as good quality and longer render times.
    2) If you don't have the source footage, you'll need to demux the file in MPeg Streamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/
then transcode the file as described here:

  • DVD Rendering and Burning: differences between Premiere Pro and Premiere Elements

I am landscape photogapher and wish to either create slide shows in Premerie or import them to Premiere  from H264 1080 quicktime files generated by Ligthroom 3.  I do not do frame by frame video editing.  My only goal in using Premiere is to be able to render and/or burn DVD's and eventually Bluetooh compatible DVD's for play back on commercial flat panel TV's, e.g., Samsung flat panel dvd's.
Are the DVD rendering and burning capablity of Pemiere CS5 Pro and Premiere 9 Elements equivalent , i.e, are that both as likely to produce DVD's that render with natural color on commercial flat panel TV's?
My prior experience is that my Lightroom generated 1080, H264 quicktime movies  have perfectly natural color on Mac LCD and other computer monitors but see very over saturated color on commecial flat panel tv's.
Discussions with Adobe tech support folks are contradictory on this matter.

The main differences between the authoring capabilities (the assembly of DVD/BD, navigation and Menus, plus burning) of Encore (the authoring program, that ships and installs with PrPro) and PrE 9 are:
1.) Encore is a full-featured authoring program, offering a lot more power and flexibility, but at the expense of having to do it "by hand," where PrE 9 is very limited in the navigation that can be employed, and it uses Menu Sets for that automation. Though PSD's, like the Menus in Encore, they have many special aspects, that must be considered, when doing any customization.
A.) In Encore, one can create almost all sorts of navigation in the DVD/BD, limited almost exclusively to the limits imposed by the DVD, or BD specs.
B.) PrE 9 will allow Autoplay, with no Menu, or will automatically create Scene Menus, per the Chapter Markers that you add - and that is ALL. There will      be no Into AV material. No Subtiltes. No supplemental Audio streams. Only linear navigation, or no navigation.
C.) Menus for Encore are much more easily customized, where there are some major conventions in those from PrE, that MUST be addressed.
2.) Encore can Burn an Image (ISO) - no Image in PrE, and can Burn a BD to Folder, which cannot be done in PrE - only for DVD.
3.) Encore offers the capability to adjust Layer Breaks for DL discs.
4.) Encore allows one to adjust the Burn speed, and in PrE, one is stuck with the "fastest" based on the speed of the media + the burner
5.) Encore allows output to a Flash delivery with pretty much full navigation.
6.) Encore allows for changes in the Subpicture Highlight Color Sets, and PrE will only do that, with some Menu Set editing.
7.) Encore offers a SlideShow feature, but I feel that it is rudimentary and limited, and assemble mine in PrPro, then go to Encore for authoring.
8.) Encore is a separate program, though interfaces with PrPro with ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link), and is NOT available as a stand-alone any more - only with      PrPro.
There are probably more differences, and some of the above might not make any difference to you. Things can probably be summed up as: Encore = great power and flexibility, but with things being done manually, and PrE lacks the power and flexibility, but is semi-automatic, so probably easier to use on simple Projects.
Good luck, and hope this helps you make the decision,
    Hunt
[Edit] Sorry that some of the formatting for the Outline did not translate well. Gotta' explore the Outline formatting in the editing screen more, 'cause it would probably have fixed things. Sorry about that.

  • Imac G5 won't start white screen and flashing question mark

tried every key combo recomended -   erased HD using target mode/firewire with laptop - but won't boot up from install disc...

The white screen with flashing question mark means that it cannot find a bootable volume.
The iMac G5 will not boot from just any install disk. Ideally, use the grey restore disks which came with the computer. If you've lost these, you can order them direct from Apple. Alternatively, a Mac OS X 10.5 retail install DVD will work provided the iMac G5 has also 1GB RAM (minimum requirement for 10.5).
Sometimes, if the internal drive is faulty, it can take a long time for the computer to recognise other disks. I would suggest holding down the option key on the keyboard (labled alt on some keyboards) and turning the computer on, keep holding alt until you get to the early boot menu, insert your DVD/CD, and click the circle arrow to refresh, wait a bit and the DVD/CD will show up and you can click on it to select it and boot from it by pressing the straight arrow.
After a little while it will get to the install menu, select your language, then on the next screen go through the menus to find "Disk Utility" (it's in different places on different versions of Mac OS X).
You will want to check that the internal hard drive is detected, and that it doesn't have a SMART error (it might be red, or say that the disk is failing). If you get that far, then (assuming you have erased the disk previously, as this will step really will erase the drive and take all your data with it) partition the drive, making sure that under 'Options' you select Apple Partition Map (this will be the default on earlier versions of Mac OS X, but might not be if you've erase the disk from an intel Mac like a MacBook).
Once, you done all that, and there haven't been any issues, you should be able to quit Disk Utility, and carry on with the sytem install as usual, and a 30mins to 2 hours and reboot later you should be booting from the internal drive again.
