DVD Multi-Burner

I have never used the DVD multi-burner in my T61p to store or backup data on a DVD. Was a utility program or software provided with the pc that does this? The device does not seem to recognize a new DVD-R disk when I put it in the drive. Did basic software to utilize this device come with the machine that I may not recognize or may not have installed? If so, what is it called and can it be downloaded from the support site? I must be missing something obvious. Thanks for any help.

    Hello,
As far as I know, DVD±RW disc drives are automatically detected by Microsoft Windows XP and newer versions of Windows.  Are you looking for the latest firmware?  The latest update I could find for a T61 is here on Lenovo's support web site.

  • Firmware update on DVD Multi Burner gone bad

    Hi all,
I just downloaded and tried to update the ODD in my T510, but during the update it just went "FAILED" (despite I followed the instructions to the letter) - and now the ODD is lighting up as a christmas tree all the time. The thinkpad can still detect the drive, so I can reflash the unit, but there is 3 possible firmware files - which one is the correct one?
    Firmware
    Quote:
    GT30N LT10 Serial Ultrabay Enhanced
    GT30N LG10 ThinkPad SL410, SL510, L412, L512
    GT30N LE10 ThinkPad Egde 14", 15", E40, E50
Now - is it the LT10, LG10 or LE10 I need to reflash with?
I know for a fact that the unit is the GT30N, pulled it out and confirmed it (also the device manager says it is)
The lenovo update utility does not provide me the option anymore to flash the unit sadly.

  • Replacing CDRW/DVD with DVD Multi

Procrastinator here. T60 2008-SAA with origninal CDRW  DVD Ultrabay Burner installed.
Long time back, bought new DVD Multi III Ultrabay burner, never installed. This is my wife's prime computer for browsing and email, viewing photos, very little else, but it could use the Multi for the photos long term. About to install Windows 7 for continued use indefinitely.
Drive comes with Thinkpad install CD with now dated software, (Multimedia Center 9.05 and such as WinDVD 5.0.11). It is probably Vista based since produced in 2008. I guess all the necessary drivers for install are on there as well.
QUESTION: Should I risk installing this with the CD after the upgrade to Win 7? If not, would the necessary drivers be on TVSU ? I have not been able to track  down anything for Win 7 except for a special instance of particular installs on specific computers, not the T60 unfortuantely. It seems like it should be eligible as the cost of buying this as an accessory included the install software with the special third party programs, like the WinDVD.
Thanks for any help you could offer on this.

    Hello,
Generally speaking, any software that works under Microsoft Windows Vista is going to work fine under Microsoft Windows 7 as well.  The few kinds of programs that do not are ones that make use of filter drivers, such as anti-malware software, some kinds of encryption software, tape backup software and other programs which directly access to hardware. In those cases, you do have to install the correct version of the program that works with that version of the operating system.
As far as DVD software goes, though, I don't think you will have any problems.  I am not sure, though, if ThinkVantage System Update will see the updates for them (or if there are any, for that matter).  If it does not, you will need to search Lenovo's support web site for the updates.
If you are concerned, you can always do a backup before installing the software onto the computer.

  • DVD's burning low contrast

Why are my DVD's burning in low contrast (with a lifted pedestal/black level)?
The contrast is higher when viewing the movie on Quick time and iDVD player.
    Any thoughts? Drive? DVD's?
    I'm using Maxell printable DVD's.

That indicates a conflict or corruption in the original account. To resolve that is laborious and time-consuming. While logged into the newly created admin account, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option, recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly.

  • Question about choosing an external dvd/cd burner

The burning speed listed in my iTunes preferences goes up to 24x, then "Maximum Pssible". I am thinking of purchasing a LaCie DVD/CD burner that has write(48x)/rewrite(32x)/read(40x). When using with my iMac does this mean that I can burn at 48x with the iTunes burning preferences set to Maximum or does the maximum burning capabilities with my iMac top out at 24x?
Also, the internal burner device (a Matshita model) seems to have something called buffer protection. Can anyone explain what buffer protection is and is a mandatory consideration when using second, external player/burners?
    Thanks for any help.

The 24X currently in iTunes is reflecting the speed that is capable of the internal burner in your iMac.
Also, the internal burner device (a Matshita model) seems to have something called buffer protection. Can anyone explain what buffer protection is and is a mandatory consideration when using second, external player/burners?
This is to ensure that your burner does not run out of data while it is burning. If the burner runs out of data, the burn will fail.

  • DVD-R burn error "medium write error"

Just received a refurbished iMac today. Doing a basic Disc Copy from Disk Utility and burn one disc OK. The second disc ejects half way through burn and "medium write error" pops up. All the disc I pull out are blazing hot as well. I don't know if this has anything to do with it.
I am trying another burn now. Has anybody seen this error or had DVD-R burning issues?
    Thanks,
    Adam

I saw this using Toast 9 -- turned out I had turned on the DVD-DL support by accident and I didn't have a DL DVD drive.

  • Hello - I used a Sony DVD to burn 350 songs. When I put the DVD into another computer to rip those 350 songs, the 'import songs' button never appeared in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. What's preventing songs from being ripped?

Hello - I used a Sony DVD to burn 350 songs from my iTunes library to share with a friend. When I put the DVD into my friend's computer to rip those 350 songs, the 'import songs' button never appeared in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. Anybody know what's preventing me from ripping what's on the DVD?

When I put the DVD into my friend's computer to rip those 350 songs, the 'import songs' button never appeared in the lower right hand corner of iTunes.
The import command only works with audio CDs. So if you burned the files in mp3 format, try instead using the "File > Add file to library" or "File > Add folder to library" commands.

  • Logitech external USB DVD reader/burner model LDR-PMD8U2LBK not recognized.

Got a external USB DVD reader/burner Logitech model LDR-PMD8U2LBK.
I plug the device, use the adapter but nothing happens. I tried to boot the computer with the driver plugged in, again, nothing. If I put a DVD in the driver, I hear the machine buffer but on the screen, nothing. Checked all the view options, everything is selected. It doesn't appear in the Disk Utility neither. Tried to open a DVD with VLC Player, to no avail. Checked on Logitech's site, there are no drivers for this driver. The seller told me that it should be compatible with my black macbook, I guess there is still a possibility that it is not...

You shouldn't need drivers for a USB or Firewire connected external device.

  • SW CD for USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner Drive

    I recently obtained a "USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner Drive"
for my Thinkpad T61S.   It  did not come with the
CD that contains SW to support this drive.
Is the contents of this CD available anywhere to download?
    Tom

    Hello,
I found two downloads which I think apply to the Lenovo USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner Drive with LightScribe:
Multimedia Center for Think Offerings with LightScribe support for Windows Vista, XP, and 2000
MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows Vista
Perhaps one of these will work for you.

I made an iMovie from iPhoto pictures that both look GREAT.  Watching the DVD i burned on a Playstation2 makes the pics look fuzzy. Why? how can i fix this?
    MPR

When you watch on your Mac, it is at or near HD 1920x1080 pixels (about 2 megapixels), depending on the resolution of your screen. Most photos today are 5 megapixels or greater, depending on your camera, but anything over 2 megapixels must be reduced when put in a video.
When you create a DVD, you must further reduce it to 640x480, standard definition. This is about 0.3 megapixels. iDVD will do this for you.
You can fix by creating an HD movie in iMovie. You can Share this using Share/Export Using QuickTime to an MP4 container using the h.264 codec. You can then put this movie on your PS3 using a USB thumb drive.
That should give you good resolution.
(NEVER MIND, YOU SAID PS2 not PS3, my apologies)

  • Dvd wont burn movie all the way

The dvd is 4.7 GB and the movie is 4.1 the dvd wont burn the whole movie it stops a little before the movie is over. HOw do we burn a long movie onto dvd?

What is the total playing time of your movie? iDVD 5 has a 120 minute limit, including menus, in the Best Quality setting or a 60 minute limit in the Best Performance setting. The size of the files is not the determining factor, just the playing time.

  • OSX DVD/CD Burner Error Code - HELP!

Hey everyone. I hope someone might be able to help me out with a problem I am having.
I just purchased a Plextor DVD/CD burner, and every time I put a blank in it, it gives me an error code (0x80020025). I thought it just might be my burner, but I tried to burn a disc with my buddy's Lacie, and had the same issue. The drive reads all discs fine, it just won't let me set it up to burn one.
Can anyone help, please?! Thank you all so much.

The drive is an external drive. It is a Plextor PX-740UF. I am running it with USB. Just to let you know, I had the same issue with my buddy's Lacie drive when I plugged it in.
The drive recognizes everything BUT unburned discs. When I put one in and I try to open it in Finder, or in iTunes, it gives me that error code.
I have also tried to do the force quit from Finder, and then re-launching, but this doesn't help either.
    Thanks for your help.
