DVD not loading-----CHURN, CHURN, CHURN

I cannot load DVDs now. I'm trying to load iLife '08 and when I insert the DVD, the computer keeps 'churning' away as if it's trying to recognize it. After a minute or two, the DVD is automatically ejected. CDs load just fine. I tried inserting other DVDs and the same thing happens; they won't load.
Any suggestions?

Make sure you have enough storage space on your HD for iLife 8. Not having enough can make the computer do what it is doing to your DVDs.
Another help source (if you haven't already done so).
Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.

  • DVD not load on some players

I've created a project in PremierePro/Encore. Burned DVD's from Encore - using HP -R DVD's and had no problems in a range of DVD Players. I want additional copies  I've Used Win & burn app, AVS DVD Copy, 1-Click to make copies, also using HP -R DVD's. The copies work in the PC, in two Sony Players, a Pansonic, but no copies, toher than the original burned from Encore works in an inexpensive Emerson combo VHV/DVD player.
Been told +R may work, but why does -R burned from Encore work, and other copying apps don't?
what can I do to make workable copies other than in my copy of Encore?

Also, quality blank media, like Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden will get it "as good as it gets."
For most newer players, the media type (+R/-R) is not that big a deal anymore - however with some equipment, it still is.
I also just finished using ImgBurn to do 6 ISO (image files) to DVD. When you go to download ImgBurn, be sure to scroll down past the ads. It's not until about the lower 1/3 of the page, that you get the real Download button.
Also, do not burn at the max speed. I'd drop that down a bit, as the few moments to be saved with a faster burn can result in having poor playability and having to do the entire process all over again.
    Good luck,

  • DVD NOT loading properly or ejecting

I put in a DVD and it took a long time for it to show up on the desktop. Then the DVD player said unrecognizable format. So, I tried to eject it and it will NOT eject. I tried restarting while holding down the track pad button and it will not restart. I have to hard shut off the laptop. Then I tried to use disk utility and hit the eject button there and no luck. When the computer tries to access the DVD the entire system goes to a grinding halt and it goes into a cycle that sometimes it does not finish, pushing me to hard shut off the laptop which I know is not so hot for my brand new laptop. I looked for an emergency eject button but I think the Matsushita DVD player in this Macbook does not have one. My biggest problem is I'm in Belize and nowhere near a qualified service person. I also tried the utility/termianl drulist. It did show the DVD as drive number one but did not eject it using the command promt.
I love my Mac and I'm starting to think I'll have to open this machine up to get this corrupted DVD out but not until I go back to the states....Yikes please help if you have any ideas.

Holding the start button down when it's booting up worked, I kept holding it down while it was shutting down.

  • DVD not loading

I had some VHS tapes copied to DVD.  It is a DVD-R 8X and contains videos.  When I insert it into the optical drive on my Mac mini (Intel core 2 duo, about 5 years old), it clicks and makes some noise for about 10 seconds and then ejects the DVD.  No error messages, nothing else so I don't know what is wrong or how to start to find out.  Help needed.  Thanks offered.   Gerry

How can I burn a copy of my project to a DVD . I do not have IDVD because I have the Lion OS. I did purchase Wondershare for burning but it will not load the iMovie events or projects

There is no proper substitute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?

    UPDATE & ADDENDUM:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs.  If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected.  For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • Pioneer DVD -RW drive will not load CD/DVD media iMac Yosemite

I have a 20-inch, Early 2009 iMac that was recently updated with a SSD Drive and I ran all the installation media that cam with it originally.
I did update to the latest and greatest Mac OS Yosemite to recently discover that the Pioneer drive (see details below) will not load disks. Any disks. It makes that loading noise and it seems to struggle until it spits it out again.
I am pretty sure it worked since I have loaded Software from the Installation DVDs but I cannot confirm the if the problem started since Yosemite update. There may be a separate contributing factor, he is 2 year old and since he has seen Music CDs loaded there previously he was showing interest in poking thinks in the slot.
How can I identify the real problem? Is the drive faulty or is it some incompatibility with the system?

  • Why is my cd not loading into the cd/dvd drive?

When I insert my cd, nothing happens.  My touchsmart PC will not load the cd or dvd.

In the past I imported over 1500 cds into iTunes without any problem, but when I just now checked one cd, it was recognized as an audio cd only and listed all the tracks as 'track 01', etc.
Checking some ten cds it turned out, that only two of them were recognized, i.e. all data from the cd were read into iTunes.
The cds are all regular and official.
The reason must lie with iTunes (version 11.0.1 (12))

  • Some movie DVD's will not load on my MacBook

I have several movies that will not load or be read by the DVD drive. I insert the DVD it spins then ejects. Other older DVD's play just fine. I'm quite baffled by this as I can't seem to identify any common denominator other than it occurs more often with newer DVD's.

If iDVD is crashing at launch try this basic troubleshooting fix :
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.

  • DVD-R not loading

Trying to load a DVD-R that has pictures on it, but it will not load.  I can hear it trying to load, but it just ejects the DVD.  Any ideas?

The experts in this forum strongly recommend Verbatim DVD-R disks and burn at the slowest speed possible
Burning too slow is often just as bad as burning too fast. (I like 4X.)
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/advancedconcepts.htm
I have found DVD+R to be more reliable than DVD-R. The only disadvantage to DVD+R is that DVD players manufacture before 2003 may not play them.
DVD+R disks are better than DVD-R disks because of the increased error correction technique used for the +R type.
    http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/Why-DVDRW-is-superior-to-DVD-RW
    I use iMovie 06 with iDVD 08.
"DVD-R is inferior for data preservation for three reasons: inferior error correction, inferior ‘wobble’ tracking, and the fact its data writing methods look like an un-needed halfway point between CD-R and DVD+R."

    MAM-A DVD+R 4.7GB. Mitsui Gold Archive DVD
Gold archive recordables are high performance discs featuring gold-on-gold construction, which provides longevity and maximum resistance to environmental degregation.
I would also recommend Taiyo Yuden DVD+Rs. (I get excellent results using iMovie 06 with iDVD 08.)

  • MSI 787-G46 slowly boot and not load DVD drive after bios 1.6 beta2

I used bios version 1.5 without any problem. Now I loaded bios version 1.6 beta2 and when the PC starts at the lower right corner of the screen appeared the letters A2 for about 10 seconds, which was not. So I gave back 1.5 bios and the problem persists. I also found that it has the effect that the system does not load DVD drive.

Quote from: makac on 23-October-13, 12:40:18
In the new bios 1.6 beta 2 added item: Patch SATA driver detection issue and add item to control.
I do not know where it's set in bios, can not do this problem?
I was having similar issues with this bios after enabling RAID the hard drive BBS listed my drives multiple times and wont let you change the order, also trying to boot to the operating system would just display some EFI shell. I can only assume we will need to wait on another release for a fix.

  • K7N2G will not load windows xp with any type of dvd/cd drive installed?

    k7n2g
    athlon 2600+
    radeon 9700 pro
    Caviar SE wd800

It does not matter if it is keyed as master or slave, primary or secondary my old k7n2g will not load windows with a cd drive installed. I have tried three different drives and everything that I can think of, changed cables, channels, drives, everything. Windows just hangs. I cannot even get into safe mode. Is this an IRQ problem? The drives keeps trying to eject themselves, no matter what kind I use. This has never happened before, but there was a point before this problem where the vga wouldn't kick on (at the login screen) until I hit eject on the cd drive. This is driving me crazy and I have a girlfriend who just has to play her stupid sims and will not stop bothering me about it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me!

So let us get this straight.
This system used to work fine? Yes? Then what prompted you to reload the OS?
You mentioned that didn't happen when you owned it. Are we to assume that at some point you sold or gave parts of this system to someone else? If so, what changed?
A little more history might prove useful in helping us to give you better suggestions.
Look at the PSU and give the Amps for the +3.3, +5v, & +12v lines.
***Edit, from what I see on the net, that is a dual rail PSU and the amps are as follows:
    +3.3V@22A, +5V@21A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@16A
    Is this correct?
Both the 3.3 and +5v seem a little low to me, but I am not entirely convinced that would be your problem. However, the fact that the 12v rails are split, can lead to other problems such as overvoltage protection circuitry getting in the way. Especially if the 16amp 12v rail is overloaded.
This is something to consider. Just because it is supposedly capable of wattage over it's rated power output doesn't mean it can handle what you're throwing at it all at once. If you have a single rail PSU that has at least 18 amps on the 12v rail to test with, we could almost definitively rule out power as the sole problem or a contributing factor.
I have never had a CD rejected, but if you could be more detailed about what you have connected to the board while attempting to load the OS, and then a detailed description of at what point the OS installation fails, and the CD is ejected, that would be helpful as well.
The fact that you've tried several drives, cables, with the same result. And also had a blackscreen event, does point to at least one problem that could point to a power issue. The CD rejection issue is foreign to me since I usually use the same type of PSU in all my builds or ones that I know work with a particular set of hardware, so I can't attribut that to a power issue.
Did you try clearing the CMOS and then initialize the default settings?
Do you have a cheap AGP card to try instead of the 9700?

  • PS3 (Playstation 3) issue not loading BDR Bluray | Adobe Encore CS6

I recently created a Bluray using Adobe Encore CS6, and the Bluray is not loading on my PS3, but is working fine on my other player (LG, Toshiba and PC).  Does anyone have the same issue and found a solution?  I need help on this as most of my client use their PS3 as Bluray player.
Authoring program: Adobe Encore CS6 with the Creative Cloud latest update
PS3 with latest firmware update (PS+ member with auto-update: on)
Video files: 1920x1080 FPS 23.976 Program Stream MPEG-2 for Bluray *.m2v (transcode with FCP Compressor)
Audio files: Dolby Digital Audio *.ac3
    Burner software: CyberLink Power2Go V6
Burner hardware: HP BD Writer bd340i
    Media: Verbatim BD-R 25GB 6x Speed
    Project size: 20/25GB
The project setting in CS6 is: Blu-ray NTSC with MPEG-2 Codec at 1920x1080 at 23.976FPS
The “Check Project” shows no error.  I build (output) as an image, then burn the *.ISO file using CyberLink Power2Go.
The BD-R work fine everywhere (LG & Toshiba player) except on my PS3.  The BD-R has the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folder, so I don’t know why my PS3 don’t recognize it.  And I have three PS3 at home; 1xPS3 80GB version (3yrs old) and 2xPS3 super slim (1yr old).  All three are unable to see the BD-R.  My PS3 work fine with all other media (games & movie Bluray); and I highly doubt that all three have trouble with the Bluray player.
I did the same process last time (in 2013) and everything is working fine, all the same configuration, except I used Adobe Encore CS4.  My PS3 was able to read and recognize the BD-R.  But since CS6, my PS3 don’t see the BD-R.  I also put back the copy that I did last year with CS4 (just to make sure that is not a PS3 firmware issue) and the Bluray work fine.  The media (Verbatim) come from the same tower (leftover from last year).
So everything point toward CS6…is there something that change from CS4 to CS6 for Bluray creation? Jumping from Encore CS4 to CS6, I don’t see anything different, but look like there is, because the Bluray can no longer be played on my PS3.  Please help!

Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help
