Illustrator cs3 down & dirty trick dvd, does not play on my mac, it says files not longer supported
the back of the dvd says for windows and Mac, any solution ???
if it mentions anything about PPC and you recently upgraded to Lion, you need 10.6 or prior to run them.

I would say it's already the case ...
Based on the "Oracle Support Lifetime Policy" the Premier and Extended support for Essbase 9.3 are already over, so now it's in "Sustaining Support": it just means it's not going nowhere else (no patch, no updates, nothing). But it will stay in that status forever .... So as long as you have licenses for your system you can continue to run Essbase 9.3 on your Windows 2003 server.
Would probably be good to get in touch with your Oracle contact person to double check that. -
I am running OSX 10.9.3 and suddenly my Word program won't open. An error message comes up saying that Power PC applications are no longer supported. What is going on?
that means you have a very old version of MS Office ('04)?. It can not run on any version of OS X higher than 10.6.8. You need a more current version, can look at iWork, or try a free program such as OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

DVD not longer being recognized on iMac with Lion
Looking for help / ideas. I don't do this often, but placed a DVD in mac to watch a movie and it's not being recognized.
Is it doing the same thing with all discs or just the one disc? If it is just the one disc then your drive is fine and it's more likely the disc at fault, but if it's happening with several discs it points to the drive itself.
You could try running a cleaning disc through it and see if that helps. -
Installed a new router. Installed Lion. Have an Epson Workforce 600 multi function printer. Two problems.
1. I cannot get Lion to recognize that the Epson is a multi function printer. There is no scan option on the "print/Scan" popup window.
2. When I try and use the epson scan utility I get: POWER PC APPLICATIONS ARE NOT LONGER SUPPORTED.
I have tried EPSON support with no real luck as they say it is Apple upgrades that are the problem.
Apple support was quite rude..said it was not their problem and that I should call epson. Told the I did but it made no difference just got the same reply.
Have no idea what to do.....seems I cannot find out which multi-function printers Lion supports.daolbuzzard1 wrote:

Not to give you another run around, but you need new printer drivers from Epson for your printer so it works in Lion.
Now it could be that they are working on it, or that they could have decided not to provide new drivers in order for you to force upgrade.
The only thing a user can do is decide very carefully BEFORE upgrading to a newer Apple operating system, make sure that all their current hardware and software works and make a decision for themselves.
Since you upgraded to Lion, you can go back to Snow Leopard and your PPC software will work.

I made an album in iphoto as I have done in the past. This time when I tried to send it for publishing, I got a message saying that iphoto 7 is not longer supported. From reading this forum, I see that I will need to update to a later version of iphoto, likely not the most recent as I expect that my comupter is much too old for it. My question is, if I upgrade to a later version of iphoto, will I have to start again to make the album that I have spent days working on or is there some way to transfer it? Thanks for your help.
Yes, that's right. You will have to upgrade your iPhoto to at lesat iPhoto 3 (09) or later in order to purchase print products from Apple.

No. But depending on the theme you've chosen you might have to change themes as some have been dropped while others added.
What model is your Macbook, i.e. Macbook x,y. You can find the information by going to the menu and selecting About This Mac ➙ More Info. With the help of MacTracker we'll be able to tell if you can upgrade to Mavericks and iPhoto 9.5.
If you can't upgrade to Mavericks you'll have to purchase a copy of the iLife 09 disc from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com and install iPhoto 8 and update it to 8.1.2. which will run on 10.5 or later.
For iPhoto 9 up to 9.3 you'll need to be running Lion or later.

Mountain Lion- Power PC App no longer supported

Just so all of the pertinent information is posted here for others with the same problem:
Intuit released Quicken Essentials some years ago, which is written for Intel and hence will work on Lion/Mountain Lion. However, most Quicken users are very unhappy with the limited features offered in Quicken Essentials. Normally the Genuis Bar advisors would be correct to advise users to update to the latest version of a software package. Howerver, in the case of Quicken, it is a mistake; and one they are not likely to be aware of.
Users of Quicken 2005, 2006 & Quicken 2007, can now purchase for $15 from Intuit Quicken 2007 for Lion (which also works with Mountain Lion) and it will work from day one with your existing data file:

Users of Quicken 2004 and earlier must use the PowerPC version of Quicken 2006 or 2007 to first update their data files and then they can use Quicken 2007 for Lion. I am trying to open the application for educational software and the message You can't open the application Install because PowerPC applications are no longer supported....keeps appearing...help
The installer is for a PowerPC-based Mac, last produced in 2006.
Often, that software is just a "reader" that displays a menu of items to select from. The files themselves are in folders on the disk and you may be able to access them without using the installer. -
After an earlier attempt to move Logic from my other mac (OSX 10.6.8) with the migration assistant to my new mac with OSX 10.8.2. I've re-started the whole start up process by erasing the hard drive from the new machine and build it up from scratch. After a new "out of the box" start, I decided to install LOGIC from my disks : starting with my 2007 package Logic Studio 8 and upgrading with my Logic 9 package from 2009. When trying to start to install 2008 I got the error message : Logic Studio.mpkg cannot be opened as the power pc programs are no longer supported.
What does this mean? HOw do I get this working under 10.8.2 as it works flawlessly under OSX 10.6.8. For sure I didn't buy a new machine to have OSX 10.8.2 but I suspect this is the roadblock to installing my logic package.

I completely lost the thread (I actually got confused between you and another poster on a another forum that was asking the same basic question) and somehow ended up thinking you were trying to install on a PPC Mac
My apologies and please ingnore those parts of my last post relating to the PPC Macs...
You have an Intel Mac and therefore Logic Studio 2 Boxed Upgrade set should install/run on your Mac without issue. As I said earlier.. you do not need to try and install from the original Logic Studio 1 /Logic 8 Boxed set...(It won't work anyhow because you have an Intel Mac and that version had a PPC installer) but just install from the Logic Studio 2 / Logic Pro 9 Upgrade Boxed setof DVDs instead...
Have you tried the "Make Disk Image" solution I gave earlier? That normnally works under such circumstances as what you are describing can happen when your DVD drive cannot read the DVDs correctly... I have had this situation myself where one drive read them okay and another failed to do so for whatever reason. Making and then installing from Disk images of those exact same disks resolved the issue for me...
You can try to reinstall directly from the DVDs of course though under some circumstances it may not allow you to reinstall Logic Pro itself if that part of the original installation attempt was successful... in which case you can also try this... (It's probably the easiest method if Logic 9 was already installed and present in your Apps Folder)
If the Logic Pro App is in your applications folder..
Run Software Updates to update Logic Pro to a version that will run under 10.8.2 (The initially installed version of Logic will not)
Run Logic
Go to the menu bar in Logic and select Logic Pro/Install Additional Content and select all content in there..
This content is basically exactly the same as what is stored on the remaining DVDs of the boxed set so you might not need to use the rest of the DVDs to install from but download it all instead from Apple Servers... -
i purchased dvd studio pro and im trying to install it but when i go to click continue it gives me this "you cant open the application gestalt tool becasue powerpc applications are no longer supported" what does that mean and how can i fix this ?

If that is your intent, finding a substitute program that will run on your Mac may not be as efficient. Others can advise you on alternatives, or you can post a new thread specifically with that question.
BTW: what Mac and what version of OS X?
If it is important to you to continue to use DVD Studio Pro, consider the option of installing Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels on your Mac:

Hi, is there any programme instead of i-dvd which is no longer supported with lion? Toast11 had terrible reviews, . Aimersoft DVD creator is any better?
Not quite true. iDVD IS compatible with Lion, but does not Come with Lion. I have a fully updated version of Lion 10.7.4 and I installed a previous copy of iDVD from backup of Snow Leopard, and iDVD works fine. You just need to find a copy of it in iLife 11 or somewhere.

Please give a bit more system details. Which OS and version are you on? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit. Try downloading the Creative Cloud App if not already installed from: https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud. You can choose to install PS from withing this app and need not rely on web page.
