Dvd play stops suddenly - computer freezes- can you help?

I put in the dvd - it plays for maybe 15 minutes and all is well and suddenly whole computer is frozen up - can get back to anything so must push and hold power button to manually shut it down. What is wrong? Is my drive going or is it a software issue? Please advise!

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Try booting into Safe Mode. This will take quite awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
You will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, restart normally, and go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility. Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar ("Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it). Repair permissions on it.
See if a little hard drive maintenance helps things out.
(Every time you have to do a forced shutdown instead of a normal one as you have been having to do when the system freezes, there is a chance of hard drive damage and you should repair the hard drive, either by booting into Safe Mode OR by starting up from the Mac OS X Install Disc by inserting the disc and restarting your computer, holding down the C key as the startup chime is ending. Then choose Installer > Open Disk Utility and select the hard drive in the left column. Choose the First Aid tab. Click Repair Disk to test and repair the hard drive.
Once you have repaired the hard drive with either Safe Mode or the Install disc's Disk Utility, then start up normally and repair permissions from Disk Utility in the Utilities folder on the hard drive.)

First I would just try deleting the SCInfo folder, restart your computer, open itunes and see if you are still getting the error, at that point if you are it is a permissions error with the computer specificaly and not in itunes.

Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

Quicktime audio file to CD for playing on a CD Player can you help

I have a quicktime audio file (which seems to show as a movie?) which I have on my desktop. I want to burn it to a CD so that my uni tutor can listen to it on a CD player. Can you help. I get all the way to the burn thing in disk utilities, but it won't burn. I'm thinking it needs to be saved in another format?

Oh, thank you Martin. I've cracked it right the way to burning the file, but it doesn't play on a CD player. I definitely brought it through iTunes, but it shows on the CD as a Quicktime file. I think this may be the problem. Liz

Please can you clarify what won't switch on, the WiFi or phone?
If it's the phone and have recently run out of battery, plug it into a charger, and wait 5 minutes before trying to switch it back on again; iPhones, if they run out of battery when plugged in again sometimes take a short while to turn on.
To connect to a WiFi you will need access to the network key, may also be called the WEP key. This can commonly be found on the bottom of your router or on a seperate card that came with it.

Hi richardjancsi! The best way to find out what is occurring is to perform a Nozzle Check. Please perform the following to print a Nozzle Check pattern: 1. Make sure that the machine is turned on, then load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder. 2. Open the Paper Output Tray and then open the Output Tray Extension. 3. To print the nozzle check pattern: a. Press the Setup button. b. Select Maintenance, then press the OK button. The Maintenance screen is displayed. c. Select Print nozzle check pattern and then press the OK button. The pattern print confirmation screen is displayed. d. Select Yes and then press the OK button. The nozzle check pattern is printed and the pattern confirmation screens are displayed alternately. Examine the nozzle check pattern on the LCD of your PIXMA MX882 and you can also compare it to the following example: Check the pattern to see if any lines are missing. Missing lines or no ink appearing on the paper indicates a printhead cleaning may be required. If your printout does not match the example, please perform a printhead cleaning by selecting B and then choosing Yes. If these options are not available, please perform the following steps to perform a Cleaning: 1. Press the MENU button. 2. Select Maintenance then press the OK button. 3. Select Deep Cleaning and press OK. 4. Press OK to select Yes. The deep cleaning will be performed. After 2 or 3 deep cleanings, print another test page. Does the test page print correctly? Clunk Clunk Freeze Can You Help?

My Mac is almost 3 years old. I have never dropped it and have had zero problems with it, until recently. I'll be online running a flash movie, or playing a flash game and all the sudden the computer makes an ugly noise followed by a loud CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK, then the pinwheel comes up. As soon as this happened I turned the computer off. It restarted fine, then about 15 mins later it repeated. Then i picked up the powerbook and it was pretty warm (even though it is on a flat hard surface)
I read the CLUNK could be the hard drive but I downloaded TechTool Deluxe and did the full scan and the hard drive passed everything.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

The clunk is almost certainly the hard drive. Software diagnostic tools usually won't pick it up, but if I were you, I'd make good backups, and consider purchasing a new hard drive for it.

If you are in a country where music can be redownloaded, and you haven't changed countries since buying them and they are still in your country's store (and they aren't hidden), then you should be able to redownload them via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage. If they show there but don't have the cloud symbol against them for redownloading then do you still have them listed in the Music part of your library ? If you do then deleting them from Music should then give you the cloud symbol against them in Purchased for redownloading.
If you can't redownload them then do you have them on your backup of your library/downloads so that you can copy them back onto your library ? Or do you have them on your iOS device - you should be able to copy them back it via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (though again, if you have them listed in the Music part of your library then you will need to delete them from there before Transfer Purchases will work).

Your PXI-8146RT runs an FTP server, which could be leveraged to transfer files to a host PC while your application continues to run.
There is an FTP client in MAX and several available for free on the internet. Alternately you can open a web browser such as Internet Explorer and type ftp://www.xxx.yyy.zzz to access the PXI's file system. Then just copy/paste the files you want.

If it doesn't come back after you restore the iPad, it sounds like you've damaged the hardware, you'll need to take it to Apple or an authorized service center.

How long have you left the iPod to charge? It can take up to 30 minutes before it shows any signs of life. Did you use the instructions in this article to properly reset the Shuffle?
