DVD player in MacBook pro!!!!

Hi dear Apple developer!!
I am now an apple user for 1 year.  - macbook pro.
Found out that DVD player is continent specific.  There is only 5 chances in changing the continent. why is DVD player in macbook pro is continent specific? so what happens for individuals like me who are frequent flyer and while in different continent every 6 months and want to watch a CD/DVD?
I can use my microsoft office without thinking about changing set up whether i am in UK or canada or Dubai but that is not the case with my macbook pro.  why cant it be the same as microsoft DVD player. or am i got it totally wrong?
thanks for your reply.
regards
H

Oh, that's what it was?  My father had told me it was "the graphics chip", so that's why i was confused.  I forgot to mention that the DVD drive makes the start up noises it makes when it goes to read a DVD, but it simply stops trying to read it after a few seconds...

  • What is the easiest way to make a slide presentation DVD with music that can be played on PC or DVD player using MacBook Pro?

What is the easiest way to make a slide presentation DVD with music that can be played on a PC or DVD player?  I'm using a MacBook Pro since that's the computer that has all the photos (in an album) and music.  Thanks.

I would suggest that you post this to the Adobe Encore>Menus & Buttons forum. What you want to do, if I read correctly, is pretty simple. There will probalby be links available to step you though it. I'll look for this there, and start gathering some links.

  • DVD Player on MacBook Pro won't work?

My DVD player on my MacBook Pro won't work! I can hear the sound of the video, but the actual image won't appear. Plus, I can't watch things on Youtube in full screen anymore because my computer won't show it. And finally, some of my images are very pixelated. I'm getting super frustrated that nothing will work. Please help me!

Many times, these types of problems can be 'fixed' by using a commerical DVD 'cleaning' kit (usually available at local electronics stores, Amazon, etc.). If 'cleaning' doesn't work, you may have a faulty SuperDrive. But I would try the cleaning method first, beofre taking your machine into an Apple Store or AASP.
    Good luck,

  • Subpictures work in DVD player on MacBook Pro but not through TV

    Hi,
I've put together a fairly simple DVD menu using Photoshop CS3 and Encore CS3 on OSX Leopard. All the buttons consist of text (with drop shadow) and then a (=1) duplicate layer (without drop shadow) as the highlight.
Everything works fine and as expected in the preview and also works fine having burnt the project to DVD and playing it back through my MacBook Pro. The problem occurs when I put the DVD into a regular player (i've tried 2 different units) and through a TV. None of the highlights display.
I've tried setting the Colour Set as 'Automatic' and 'Menu Default'. I've also tried breaking this down to a really simple test file (from scratch) which has no real content, just links to other menus, but I get the same thing. I've burnt soooo many DVD's trying to get this to work.
Anyone else experienced this? I'm lost for what to do next and going slightly mad.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    HI
same problem here, heard that adobe is aware of this problem but as we know adobe updates can take quite a time. Also i have read that taking the project to a mac with tiger an then burn it would work.
Ceep in mind that it doesn't work to burn a ISO and than burn it with other software.
Unfortunly you can not open a Encore CS3 mac project on Encore CS3 Windows.
So i think there is no solution so far, if so i like to here this of course.
    Best thing to do now:
1 sent lots and lots of E-mails to adobe.
2 Finish your project leopard encore CS3 mac, than find someone with a mac tiger and burn a ISO so you can burn it later on your own Mac
(i havent tryd it bud it shoult work i think)
    Cheers, stan

  • DVD player in MacBook Pro Not Working

Hey, for some reason after I got the Graphics Chip in my laptop replaced, my DVD player won't read DVDs... Any ideas on how to check if it's broken or maybe if there's an issue with the DVD player program?

Oh, that's what it was?  My father had told me it was "the graphics chip", so that's why i was confused.  I forgot to mention that the DVD drive makes the start up noises it makes when it goes to read a DVD, but it simply stops trying to read it after a few seconds...

How do I burn imovie to dvd on my macbook pro that can be read by dvd player to watch on my TV.

Purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.

  • Flash Player on MacBook Pro

Hello: I tried to install Flash 8 Player on MacBook Pro and it did not work. Then, I realized because maybe it's not Universal, it won't work. Does anyone know if you can install the Flash Player on MacBook Pro? Thanks in advance for your advice.

The special version of the Flash plug-in supplied with Intel-Macs can be restored by extracting a fresh copy from the installer disc. You will need to download Pacifist (www.versiontracker.com) and use it to extract a fresh copy of the Flash plug-in from the file archive on the installer DVD.
Please read the following about other possible incompatibilities:
A Basic Guide for Migrating to Intel-Macs
If you are migrating a PowerPC system (G3, G4, or G5) to an Intel-Mac be careful what you migrate. Keep in mind that some items that may get transferred will not work on Intel machines and may end up causing your computer's operating system to malfunction.
Rosetta supports "software that runs on the PowerPC G3 or G4 processor that are built for Mac OS X". This excludes the items that are not universal binaries or simply will not work in Rosetta:
Classic Environment, and subsequently any Mac OS 9 or earlier applications
    Screensavers written for the PowerPC
    System Preference add-ons
    All Unsanity Haxies
    Browser and other plug-ins
    Contextual Menu Items
Applications which specifically require the PowerPC G5
    Kernel extensions
Java applications with JNI (PowerPC) libraries
See also What Can Be Translated by Rosetta.
Be sure to verify with developer or from information on download sites whether software is a universal binary. Many of the incompatible products currently in use will likely be updated in time.
In addition to the above you could also have problems with migrated cache files and/or cache files containing code that is incompatible.
If you migrate a user folder that contains any of these items, you may find that your Intel-Mac is malfunctioning. It would be wise to take care when migrating your systems from a PowerPC platform to an Intel-Mac platform to assure that you do not migrate these incompatible items.
If you have problems with applications not working, then completely uninstall said application and reinstall it from scratch. Take great care with Java applications and Java-based Peer-to-Peer applications. Many Java apps will not work on Intel-Macs as they are currently compiled. As of this time Limewire, Cabos, and Acquisition are available as universal binaries. Do not install browser plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave from downloaded installers. These versions are not universal binaries and will not work on Intel-Macs. The version of OS X installed on your Intel-Mac comes with special compatible versions of Flash and Shockwave plug-ins for use with your browser.
The same problem will exist for any hardware drivers such as mouse software unless the drivers have been compiled as universal binaries. For third-party mice the only current choice is USB Overdrive. Contact the developer or manufacturer of your third-party mouse software to find out when a universal binary version will be available.
Also be careful with some backup utilities and third-party disk repair utilities. Disk Warrior (does not work), TechTool Pro (does not work), SuperDuper (newest release works), and Drive Genius (untested) may not work properly on Intel-Macs. The same caution may apply to the many "maintenance" utilities that have not yet been converted to universal binaries.
Before migrating or installing software on your Intel-Mac check MacFixit's Rosetta Compatibility Index.

  • I put a DVD into my MacBook Pro and the computer does not read it. what do I do?

I have a DVD with a bunch of home movies on it. When I put the DVD into my MAcBook Pro so it would burn to my computer, nothing appeared. It made a lot of noise but nothing happend to the screen. I need help!!

Try the DVD on a console DVD player or another computer.  If plays, your super drive may need replacing.  Just trying to diagnose what's not working

  • This is the same question I've asked 3x in 24 hours, but it doesn't appear in the listing. Maybe I need help in phrasing questions?:)Q. why can I play some DVDs on my MacBook Pro but not on desk top Apple (they're both -1 year olds

    Hi
This'll be my third attempt in 24 hrs to ask the same question. maybe I need guidance on phrasing questions?:)
    Q. Why can I always play DVDs on my MacBook Pro but not always on my desk top Apple. They're both less than  year old. The desk top sometimes displays a message that says I have to change regions (from Australia to South America...doh...)

    Region Code 4:
Mexico, Central and South America, and the South Pacific.
Includes Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Falkland Islands, French Guiana, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, New Guinea, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela
Apparently my first response was off in left field.  The DVD player has its own code.  My recommendation is to change the code when it asks.  It is possible that the disks that play correctly are region-free and the ones that don't have a region code.  If this does not work, you still have four more changes available; you won't be stuck with the new code.

  • I'm unable to burn DVDs on my MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

    Hello all,
I'm unable to burn DVDs on my MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM running 10.4.8. When I go to burn a DVD I get one of two codes 0X8002006D, 0X80020022, why is that a 3,000 CPU cant burn a DVD. My Mac is total up to date with all software and firmware. I saw in the Discussions that I'm not the first person to have this issue but I don't see an answer from Apple, I'm pretty sure it not the DVDs (Memorex DVD-R 16X) because my ****** pc can burn them and it was a 100 pack that I used about 50 from it that I burn on both Macs and the ****** PC. I also have a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 with 2.5 GB DDR SDRAM running 10.4.8 which is also unable to burn them and it also comes up with the same errors. I have not had this issue until I updated my Macs to 10.4.8, PLEASE HELP.
    Thanks,
    Coons

Yes I can play CDs and DVDs but I was not able to burn a 4.01GB folder, I have since decreased the folder size to 3.75 and was able to burn the DVD. I'm creating another just to double check, my G5 was unable to complete the task and I also gave a shot at a 2.77GB folder and it failed I also gave a 200Mb file a chance but it still did not burn. I was able to burn the same 200MB file on a CD, PLEASE I NEED HELP.
