DVD player quits unexpectandly after updating.Help!

i update dvdplayer from the software update and then all the times i tried to run the application i get the following message "dvd player quits unexpectandly.the other applications are not affetcted."the report is the following:

a. More info most probably needed:
• Mac OS X.4.1 (as You writted at page-foot) - I would use X.4.10
• QuickTime version ? ? 7.? ?
• Apple DVD-player version ? v4.0 ?
b. Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
Many possible origins. Most common:
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disc if it is less than 10Gb should raher have 25Gb
• Hard disc is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disc (Apple Disc Util tool)

How do you uninstall DVD-player? I tried to delete the DVD-player application icon, then i tried to reinstall DVD-player with the DVDupdate file i downloaded, and it tells me that the software is allready installed. Which files do i have to delete?
Does the OSX install CD reinstall DVD-player and not just iDVD?
How can i install JUST DVD-player from the OSX install disc and not every application there is?

DVD Player Quit

I attempted to play the DVD "Star Wars Episode II", and DVD Player quit with a message "encountered a system error -47".
According to Apple article 9805, this was a "File is busy" error.
I ejected the DVD and it was able to play normally after reinsertion and restarting DVD Player.
What is going on here?

I have a brand new MacBook Pro. When I load in any DVD I get a window saying "DVD Player quit unexpectedly". Is this something I didn't set up or do correctly? Or is there a problem that I need to go back to the store for repair?

There is a supplemental 10.8.2 update that came out yesterday. Check Software Update.

The application DVD Player quit unexpectedly.

Everytime I place a DVD in my disk drive I get this notice.
"The application DVD Player quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple."
I am so computer illiterate and I get this warning a lot with different applications as well...
I purchased my MacBook two days ago and any advice would be great!

I think Word did the same thing when I tried to open my free trial of it or something..
I am no longer getting this warning (after restarting my computer) and I can now use my remote, but when I click on "Music" or "DVD" then it will take me to the menu from there but will not actually play any media!!

Nano quit working after update to version 1.2

Brand new nano quit working after update to version 1.2 It worked fine before. My computer see usb storage device but doesn't recognise ipod. ipod updater that worked to let me update doesnt regonise nano either. I returned to store where I bought it, got a new one, brought it home, ran updater again now it the new one is doing the same thing. What gives? I have never had a problem in the past with updater. Is there any way to take it back to version 1.1 since 1.2 doesn't work?

This fix came from Caspar (Thank you SOOO much!). It took me 10 minutes to do this and now my beloved ipod nano is back! Hopefully this will help some of you:
Original Problem: Updated iTunes(6.0.5) and iPod nano (1.2). After the update, iTunes would not recognize my iPod and therefore would not let me remove the iPod from my computer, which seems to be the problem most people are having.
The Fix:
*uninstall iTunes, iPod, and any updates (make sure anything related to these two programs are not on your computer)
*Open Control Panel
*Click the "switch to classic view" link, if
necessary
*Double click "administrative tools"
*Double click "computer management"
*Under "storage" click on "disk management"
*Find your iPod's listing
*Right-click on it and click "format"
*Select "FAT32" and start the format
*After reformatting, remove iPod from computer
*Download iTunes directly from the Apple website (I didn't restart my computer at the prompt)
*Download 6/28/06 update for iPod (do NOT plug iPod in before doing this!)
*Open update for iPod and wait until prompt to plug iPod in (do not plug in early)
*Wait for the update....and there ya have it!!
Hopefully this will help some people, as I have spent the past 2 weeks doing the 5R's thing. After completing the steps above, I haven't had a problem with my iPod..and now my Nike+ works!! Thanks again, Caspar...you're a genius!!

DVD Player Quits

I connected my Pismo to an external display and am using that as the main display. I also connected an external firewire dvd burner because my DVD-ROM Module wouldn't even mount a dvd movie.
All was fine until I inserted a dvd (into the extrernal) to watch, at this time DVD Player starts up and then immediately quits. I then get the message: "The application DVD Player quit unexpedly."
I've rebooted, tried again and still get the same error message.
Tried a different external firewire dvd drive and got the same results.
Any clues?

There is one way around this that I just found and thought I'd pass it on for anyone doing the same. Under System Preferences---->Displays----> Arrangement, click on "Mirror Displays", then DVD Player will appear on the second monitor (as well as the built in LCD). Since I'm not using the Pismo's built in LCD this is a great work-around. DVD Player does not quit when viewing this way.

I think a few have.
Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Flash player not working after updating to 11.5. Help please!

Hi,
I am having problems running Flash player, I am NO expert whatsoever but I will do my best to describe. After updating to Flash 11.5 all applications using Flash including Youtube, Google Streetview etc stopped working. Youtube simply said "an error has occurred" the rest of the applications just didn't load and left me with a blank area of screen where the app/video etc would be. Have tried the usual removal and re-installing and re-installing older versions. The closest thing that has worked has been to re-install the even older version 10.3, which allows Youtube to work but all other applications request I update first, which of course leaves me back at square one.
Could anyone please shed some light on this for me? Could it be a known problem? I've quickly exhausted my limited knowledge!

DVD Movies won't play after 10.4.10 / DVD Player 4.6.1 Updates...

CDs will boot fine, blank DVDs will mount fine, but when I insert a DVD movie; the drive won't mount and the DVD player will not play my discs. I currently have a Pioneer DVR-109 installed in my PowerPC G5. Any information or help please.

SOME GOOD NEWS!
IT DEFINITELY IS A TIGER ISSUE... here's a little workaround... although in a tricky way, i got my commercial dvd's to finally play. do the following and let me know if it will work for you as well.
-insert a movie dvd (commercial)
-when told that the disc is not readable and prompted to eject or ignore hit ignore
-you will not see the disc mount on your desktop
-open vlc and hit play. choose "disc" for destination and hit okay (don't try with apple's dvd player, IT WILL NOT WORK)
-you will now see the movie title in your playlist, select it and play it... it works!!
good luck and until we find a permanent fix we can still watch movies on our macs! BTW, i used vlc 0.8.6c for this test on 10.4.10. incase you're not familiar with vlc, it's a free video player and you can download it from number of places on the internet.
