DVD player that supports 3" disc

I own a DVD camcorder.  My DVD player does not recognize or support the 3" disc used for my camcorder.  I have been shopping around for DVD players, but I don't know how to tell if it will support the 3" disc.  Can anyone educate me on what I need to look for?
Thank you!!

This came from a post in the PC section of this forum about a similar issue.  It was for a client's old PC disk to be used in the new PC which didn't read the small size (or something of that nature).  I don't know if this will work, but I thought I'd post this just in case it would help!

  • Why does the DVD player say "supported disc not available?"

So, regular DVDs will play and are recognized on my Macbook Pro, but I'm trying to play a recordings DVD (for a music literature class) and the DVD player says "supported disc not available." The DVD is supposed to work on my operating system since it's the newest one, but I don't know how to fix the problem! Please help!
    Thanks!

I'm having the same problem lately.  I have a mid 2010 21.5" iMac with an internal SuperDrive running Yosemite.  I tried putting in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and "The Giver" rented from RedBox.  Both spin sputter for a bit and then eject the disk back out.  So, it never mounts and no software (Finder, Disk Utility, DVD Player) ever gets a chance to see it.  Both play fine in a 15 year old DVD player, and my purchased copy of "The Dark Knight" mounts just fine in the iMac.  So, I have to assume that something is being done to the DVD's that rental companies are given to prevent them from mounting or something.
Not having any luck on Google trying to confirm that.
I guess I need to amend this.  Both DVD's play fine in a early 2011 13" Macbook Pro with the internal SuperDrive.  It's running Mavericks still and has a "MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-8A8".  The iMac has a "OPTIARC DVD RW AD-5680H".  Not sure if it's the drive, the OS, or what (although I will say I'm fairly certain I was having this problem on the iMac before Yosemite, so it's probably not the OS).

  • Hi, Could you please suggest a video player, that support all video formats?

Hi, Could you please suggest a video player, that support all video formats?

This is probably as good as it gets:

You won't find anything that plays "all video formats", because of the restrictions built into the iOS.

  • DVD player that will work with a portable hard drive

I have a large collecion of movie on my hard drive. I am interested in purchasing a new DVD player and am interested in being able to transfer movies from my computer to a western digital / My passbook portable USB hard drive. and play them directly from the had drive without burning them to a DVD disk. Any suggestions?

I think some DivX-certified players can play DivX content from USB storage devices and not just disc media.  Anything that works with thumb drives should work with external hard drives.
One exception:  2.5" hard drives need a LOT of power from the USB port, some players might not like this.  3.5" hard drives with an external power supply are a safe bet with anything that supports thumb drives.
A PS3 will definitely do the trick.  Many Blu-Ray players are likely to do it too.  BBY lists 41 Blu-Ray players with USB ports - but on some of those the USB port may only be for WiFi, not sure.

  • Need External DVD Player that Works on Mac

My G4 fell (ouch) and the right corner bent and the DVD player doesn't work anymore. At Best Buy I bought a LG DVD player and burner, but my G4 wouldn't recognize it. Then I bought a Pioneer DVD player and burner, but it wouldn't recognize that either (this one has a place to plug in a cord to power it from the wall, but it didn't help).
Does anyone know of an external DVD player and burner that will work with a Mac G4? They seem to all be well under $100, a lot cheaper than having a Mac repair person open up my G4 and try to fix the internal player and also replace the shell.
BTW, I guess I could get by without a burner, so if you know of just a player that would work with my G4, I would consider it. Also the LG player says on the box it works with Mac, but then I noticed it needs OS X 10.5 . I suppose it costs over $100 to upgrade, so I don't think it's worth it.

All PowerBooks starting the G3 "Pismo" dating to Feb 2000 have Firewire Ports. On the 17" G4, the FireWire 400 port is the only labeled "2" in this image of the right edge of the computer:

FireWire is an Apple trademark for the IEEE 1394 interface. Other companies will usually use the IEEE designator to avoid mentioning Apple.

  • DVD software that supports adding 24 bit/96 kHz stereo PCM to video

Does anyone know which DVD authoring software supports adding stereo PCM 24 bit/96 kHz files created by say recording using the Audigy 2ZS ?Most DVD authoring/burning software I've seen only seems to recognize/support 48 kHz sampled PCM audio, but video DVDs support both 24 bit/96 kHz stereo (and of course Dolby AC3).

Here is a bit of info. that I have gathered about this:?Useful, readable and still fairly relevant summary on audio DVD-Video and DVD-Audio:?http://24bit.turtleside.com/?----- For audio DVD-Video with support for 24 bit / 96 kHz LPCM ------I have tried the shareware "Audio DVD Creator" and it works fairly well:?http://www.audio-dvd-creator.com/A DVD-Video disk created with 24/96 kHz audio tracks plays in my low-end Toshiba DVD player. The Sourceforge "Lyplex" is very rudimentary, (creates a continuous audio DVD Title .. no graphics). (note that Lyplex requires the wav files to have only 44 byte WAV headers ..!)http://audioplex.sourceforge.net/?---- For DVD-Audio with 24 bit / 96 and 92 kHz support ------Sourceforge DVD-Audio tools:?http://dvd-audio.sourceforge.net/I have used this to create and burn 24 bit/(96/92 kHz) DVD-Audio disks and?they play perfectly using Creative Mediasource DVD-Audio Player 2.00.75 with Audigy 2ZS notebook. (Nero Vision 4 can be used to verify the audio encoding from the iso image and play that image directly before the DVD is actually burnt.)?A useful and up-to-date FAQ on DVD (note section 3.6.2 relevant to audio part):?http://www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html?Imo the best and most affordable solution (without spending $$$ for DVD authoring software) would be for Nero to update their Nero Vision 4.x to include support for 24 bit/ 96 kHz LPCM. It already has most of the other useful capability in the DVD-Video slide-show creation like synchronizing the added audio tracks to any images etc..

  • Does the Mac pro DVD player play Blu-ray discs?

I suspect the answer is no, because the only DVD's that don't work in my player are blu-ray. But if someone can confirm this for me that would be great. If I need to download software to make my DVD player Blu-ray please direct me to the right site.
    S. Walker

You can use a third-party BD drive to read and write data discs. However, there is no built-in software to play video BD's, even if you have a drive that can read them. I don't know whether there is now any third-party software that can play those discs; the last time I remember checking, there was not. It's technically (but not legally) possible to convert BD's to a format that can play natively on the Mac, but that subject can't be discussed within the terms of use of this site.
The copy protection on BD's won't allow them to be played at full resolution on an external display without end-to-end hardware copy protection (HDCP) in the graphics subsystem.

  • HT2499 My DVD player has stopped taking discs and the DVD player no longer recognizes the drive.  I bought an external player.  How do I switch the DVD player from the internal drive to the external?

My DVD Player in my MabBook Pro, System 10.8.2, has stopped accepting discs and is no longer recognized by the DVD driver.  I purchased an external Blue-ray Disc player/writer.  It is a Samsung.  I downloaded their driver so the drive shows up on my desktop.  But how do I switch the DVD player over from my internal to my external drive?

In addition to RRFS's advice, please post in the correct forum. This forum is for iMac's, you mentioned you have a MacBook Pro. They're similar but still pretty different hardware.

  • DVD Player problem - "supported disk not available" ?

    Hi all,
Running DVD Player 4.6.5 on Tiger. Up until a while, everything was fine. Now, it won't play any DVD. It starts when I insert a DVD, but does not start playing automatically (which is what the setting currently is). When I start playing manually, all I get is the message "Supported Disk Not Available" with a stop sign beside it.
    Any suggestions/ideas/things to look into?
    Thanks,
    Simon

    Mine does this on occasion.
Haven't figured out what the problem is but restarting fixes it.

  • New VCR/DVD player that connects to antenna input

Sorry! I guess I should clarify this. We have a "screw in" coaxial cable that runs from our antenna into the house. As our TV is newer we don't have a "screw in" coaxial input (only AV cable inputs) so we have to run it through the dvd/vcr players. However, our current player no longer works for anything other than this (doesn't play DVD/VHS anymore) so it is basically like a giant paperweight.  We are looking at replacing this unit, but need the new one to have the screw in option (or be able to purchase another device that has the screw in coaxial option). Otherwise we do not have access to any television channels. Unfortunately I don't know what to look for in either a new player or an additional device. Thank you for your help with this!

I am very confused as to what I need to look for when buying a new VCR/DVD combo. (Yes, I still want to play tapes)   I need it to have a "screw" in connection for my roof top antenna's coaxial cable like the ones picture below. I have tried the plug in coaxials slots (with out the screw in option), and they don't work. But when you go to buy any device they just meniton that it has a coaxial slot. I have heard a lot of different information about what I need to get from an RF Modulator to a Tuner. When I looked at the RF Modulator it appeared to be letting you convert AV cables from a device (dvd player) to coaxial input (older tv model). Please help! • What formats can the Mac DVD player App support/play?

I have a list of movies that I imported from my friend, and, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out which formats will work and which wont--totally not tech savvy enough to figure this one out.

Unless the movies are on a DVD disk, DVD Player is not your App. Quicktime is it. You should be able to simply double-click the file to open with QT Player - the Mac knows how! - ÇÇÇ
