DVD Player video clips--how to save to desktop?

I am in DVD Player, watching a non-copyrighted movie I made in iMovie.
I wanted to create a video clip from it, so I went into Controls>New Video Clips and created a clip. I then went to Window>Video Clips and found my clip there, all safe and sound.
But now I want to save it to my desktop so I can work with it (like turning it into a QT movie), but I can't figure out how to do that. Thanks for your help!

But capturing a clip--meaning several seconds of elapsed time in moving-picure form--that is not possible.
You can use video screenshot applicaitons to copy selected segments of the playing DVD in DVD Player. Two that I use are Snap Pro x and Screenflick. There are many others which you can consider by going to MacUpdate.com and searching for "screen video".

DVD player video deinterlacing unsupported? What the ....?

So how does one activate it?
I tried having a good search for this but didn't come accross anything.
DVD player help suggested going to:
Window>Video Color
and that one could turn on the deinterlace there. Well I didn't see it?
Can someone tell me what's going on here?

Hey,
Go to the help menu and select "show supported features" at the bottom of the menu. A little dialog should pop up and show all the DVD player capabilities that your video card can make use of.
One of the items is called "video deinterlacing" and to the right of that it will say either supported or unsupported. If it says unsupported, then the only way I can think of to fix it would be to buy a new video card.
What kind of video card do you currently have? You can check it (in case you don't know the answer off the top of your head) by clicking the apple menu then about this mac, and then the "more info" button at the bottom of the dialog.
That will bring up the system profiler where you can generate a report about your system. When the system profiler comes up click the item on the left that says "graphics/displays" and the let us know what it says.

Transfering real player video clips

I was wondering if anyone can help a damsel in distress. I have a nokia n n5 8gb and when i put small teal player clips from the pc to the phone and rty to play them I get the message ...... unable to open file format not supported, can any of you wiz kids help me ?

Thanks we are not kids anymore & wiz for that matter! Most likely that video clip is not supported by your phone multimedia player. You have two option:
1. Convert that video clip first to a format which the phone support before transfering to phone say the Nokia Media Converter(it converts some but not all video files to 3gp), or any free video converter available on the net(use your search engine(e.g. google, yahoo etc)).
2. Install a 3rd party multimedia player for phone like the CorePlayer which support almost all format available.

Video clip how do no when they are used

Can any oneadvise me how you tell when you have used a clip in your time line. i am finding it hard to work out which clips I have used.

hit shift-F = find that section in the Event
hit F = mark this as a 'Favorite'

Hi, if I would like to keep 5 desktops, and put mail on the first one, Safari on the second... How do I save this setting so next time when I start the computer, it will be there?

If the applications were spread across several desktops at the time you shut down, they should resume in the same desktops. Of course, if you can resume switched off, as some do, that can't happen.

How do I transfer video clips from iPhoto to iDVD? I followed the instructions in the help section but it did not work.

I would like to make a DVD from video clips I took of my Grandchildren. I went to the help section and it stated to click on the video clip, then click 'share' and choose 'send to iDVD'. That option was not available on the share button. How to I transfer to iDVD. Thanks for any help.

Do you plan to put each video clip in iDVD to be playes separately? If so then here's how:
1 - open iDVD and select your theme.
2 - click on the Media button at the bottom right and then on the Photo button at the top.
3 - in the search window type in ".mov" (or the extension of the video clips you plan to use).
4 - all of the video clips with the extension you entered will be displayed and you can drag them into the menu area at the left.
Another way would be to put all of the video clips in an Album and click on that album to view and drag the clips:
Remember, the order that they are added to the menu will be the order that the buttons will highlight when you scroll thru the buttons with a DVD player remote.
This will give you a menu with a separate button for each video clip (up to 12 in a menu with some themes).
If you want to play all of the clips one after another you could create a slideshow in iDVD with the "+" button at the bottom and drag the video clips into the slideshow as you would still photos. Set the slide duration to anything but manual and don't apply any transition.
That will let you play all of the clips sequentially.

Model SD-26VBSB DVD Player/Video Cassette Recorder.

Your search engine does not recognise this model; I realise that it is quite old [October 2005] but it still works. I want to copy some VHS tapes to DVD and I'm not sure how to do it. I was hoping to get a manual but can't because the message just comes up: 'not found, please check number' ID plate says model is a DVD Player/Video Cassette Recorder.
Do you have any instructions for carrying out this task? Many thanks in advance.

As for your question about creating a file on your hard drive... do you have a USB device that accepts RCA video and audio inputs, and software that will convert the incoming stream into a movie file (AVI, MPG, etc.)? If you do, you can certainly use the VHS component of this machine to play the tape back, but the DVD component won't enter into it at all. You'd need DVD authoring software on your computer to convert the AVI/MPG/etc. file into an ISO DVD image that could then be burned to a DVD.
I'd advise you to get the UK equivalent of the US model Toshiba DVR620. Presumably there is such a UK model. There may be a Toshiba UK community forum like this one; if so that would be a better place to check with other users.

DVDs 1st Second Clipped Off

I've been touring a program of my short films in theaters. The show is on a DVD. Some places I go, the DVD player will clip off the first second of a track -- which is horrible. I already have a moment of black at the beginning of each track, but that doesn't seem to be enough.
Some of the tracks on the DVD are audio-only. (When I made them in FCP, I put a slug in the video track -- I figured it might be safer to have something there, rather than be empty.) It appears that it's these audio-only tracks that are the offenders at starting late.
At one theater recently, the professional DVD player was doing this clipping. When we tried a $30 cheapo player, it played fine.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Is there something about a DVD player being given black video that would make it clip off the beginning?

different brands and models have different amounts of latency when buffering the stream as playback begins. As a rule, I allow 1.5 seconds of black/silence before and 1 second and a couple frames after any essential video or audio in my track. I also try to observe this 1.5 second buffer when placing my chapter markers.

David. Thank you very much. The problem was not with the canvas but rather the Viewer. But the solution was the same. Somehow, the Viewer window was re-set to Alpha. I changed it back to RGB.... and the picture is back. These issues are often very simple.... but they can drive you bats if you don't know the answer. Very grateful. Tim

Region blocked DVD player Satellite A100-159

i have a toshiba A100-159 and the dvd is blocked to region 1... is there any official way to unblock it? if not how can i get it to become a region free dvd player?or how can i reset the counter?

DVD Player Issues- Possible Hardware/Driver malfunction...

Hi folks:
I've had my eMac for about three years and have been happily running 10.2.8 for the past two.
Just tonight I had a new issue when I tried to play a DVD; I put the disk in the tray, heard the disc spinning in the drive once it had closed, and then... nothing. No DVD Player launch, no Disc appearing on the desktop. In fact, so much nothing that the Eject button on my keyboard failed to cause the drive to open, as did the Eject command in the Finder and in the DVD Player (which I opened manually).
The only thing that got the disc out was to open iTunes, which I had been using to load CDs earlier this afternoon, and to use the Eject command from within the program. This happened with two clean rental DVDs one after the other. I restarted the computer in between, and have tried inserting Audio CDs, with the same effect each time.
Most troubling is that the last few times I have ejected the discs from inside iTunes I have received a window telling me that my Home drive requires me to enter a pass phrase to execute the command.
I am completely lost. Any ideas?

hi jason--
i would do a couple of things here. first of all i would go to disk utility in utilities, select the macintosh hd, and then click on repair disk permissions. then boot to open firmware by holding apple-option-o-f during startup until you get a screen that says "to continue booting". then type in the following commands--
reset-nvram (hit return)
set-defaults (hit return)
reset-all (hit return)
the last command restarts the computer. by the way, if a disk is stuck it can often be ejected by restarting and holding down the mouse or the eject key on the keyboard during the boot. if that fails, do the open firmware boot described above, except type in these commands--
eject cd (hit return)
mac-boot (hit return)

Can't open Ipod,DVD player,games. When I select something from my desktop

when I select Ipod,DVD player or previously installed games from my desktop they appear in the dock for a second or two and then disappear. Followed by the " cancel, retry or report message. I have owned this eMAC for about four years with no problems.

How do I separate short movie clips loaded from my digital camera to iPhoto 11 at the same time pics are downloaded and how do I get those video clips to a dvd that will play on a dvd player

When loading pics to iphoto 11 from my camera, occassionaly it will include some video clips with the description of Movxxxx. I wonder if someone could direct me to some straight forward instructions as to how to transfer these video (movie) clips, which now exist in iphoto, to a dvd that will play on a dvd player as one might expect to see a video play, including the audio that was captured at the time of filming.

You need to open iMovie and it will have a event library called iPhoto Videos, click on that and the videos will load in the window next to it, then you make a new project in iMovie. Then open iDVD and make a new project then import the movies to the program then burn to a DVD..
