DVD-R no longer recognized since 10.4.4

Hey all,
I back up a lot of data on blank DVD-R discs. Ever since upgrading to 10.4.4 my Superdrive no longer mounts these discs, it just spits them out. I had hoped 10.4.5 would resolve the issue but it hasn't. My Superdrive still plays video DVDs perfectly and has no trouble with music and/or data CDs
I am kind of ticked off because I recently did an "erase & Install" (before I knew there was an issue with my DVD discs) and cannot currently access much of the music I had backed on DVD-R.
Anyone else having this problem? I am pretty sure it is a Tiger software problem and not hardware, that is why I am posting the question in the Tiger forum.

LCX- Yes- the processor now runs on full tilt (1.83 GHz) virtually all of the time (according to CoreDuo Temp), even when only doing word processing and with minimal processor load showing on activity monitor. Before the upgrade that would occur only with multiple apps running or video, etc. I am wondering if the upgrade did something funky to CoreDuo Temp; seems like my temp readings are way off, too (much too low). I turned off the app cause it was just aggravating me!

Memory card no longer recognized since last upgrade of OS

Since last upgrade 2 days ago to OS 10.2.0.429 my memory card is no longer recognized !
It says "multi media card instered" shorlty on screen when I intser it but then when I go in file manager it says "no multi media card inserted", when I go in System settings\storage it says "your mutli media card is not recongized, you can format it"....!!!
Before the last upgrade of OS I had no problem with my card...!!!

I'm really upset of BB service. Does anyone of BB is not supposed to handle cases...?

Hi,
The driver is in the operating system so you shouldn't need any. Can you see the optical drive in the Device Manager??

Updated to Mavericks:cd/dvd drive no longer works since update. How do I fix this?

I updated my macbook pro with the Mavericks update last week. Since then, my cd/dvd drive no longer works.
It worked until I did the update. How do I fix this? Can I delete the update and if so how do I do that? or
is thiere a fix for this?

IPad 2: SIM card no longer recognized since iOS8

I updated my iPad2 to iOS 8 and all the following versions now having 8.1.2.
First I could resolve the issue by enabling and disabling flight mode and/or bluetooth. Unfortunately this does not work anymore.
Since that time, my SIM card is not recognized anymore. Of course I checked it with other SIM cards and other tablets: my SIM card is OK!
Since I need it for travelling, the iPad is now useless for me.
I read about users who were faced with hardware defects after the update to iOS 7 earlier. Could this be the same for my iPad 2 now?

ok, no interest on my problem. but i will post an update anyway:
had my iPad 2 for repair at a professional company. they told me: hardware defect.
now I assume that the magnet in the smart cover (I have a Belkin keyboard cover) is damaging the sim card reader, since it is located near the reader.
can anyone confirm this assumption?

MacBook DVD drive no longer recognizing blank DVDs

I thought I'd do some DVD archives of photos (using a Burn folder) and popped in a blank DVD (from a stack of blank DVDs that I've been using for a while).
Lo and behold this message popped up:
"The disc can’t be used because the disc drive is not supported (error code 0x80020025)"
I've done burning without problems on 10.5.x and this is the first time I've tried since upgrading to 10.6.
It seems to be a relatively common problem with no clear fix?

[solved] dvd drive no longer recognized

my dvd drive used to work. i was able to burn a cd just a couple weeks ago, not sure when exactly, but definitely no more than 3 weeks ago. today i pushed the eject button (just a keybinding mapped to `eject -T`) and i received an error saying
eject: unable to find or open device for: `sr0'
checked dmesg, there is no mention of an optical drive.
tried `modprobe sr_mod`, nothing new in dmesg, nothing at /dev/sr0.
i made sure the drive was connected and i was just able to boot off a cd, so it is connected and working.
anyone have an ideas?

that was exactly it. adding pcie_aspm=force fixed the issue. hopefully kernel 3.2.14 will resolve this.

My CD/DVD Drive is not recognized any longer

I can't seem to get my computer to recognize my CD/DVD drive any longer. I'm using Windows 8.1. Recently, hp replaced the drive. However, now it's not being recognized. Can someone please help? Below is my product information:

FYI...I now have a cd stuck in it, because even the eject button doesn't work. I've shut my computer down, unplugged it, and restarted it. I've tried re-installing drivers. Nothing has worked.

You need to contact HP Support and get a service technician to correct your problem. It's hard for me to believe that HP would have replaced the optical drive without ensuring that it worked.
HP's support number is 800-474-6836 or 800-HPINVENT or online here.
