DVD RAM Drivers for MBP?

Does anyone know of a 3rd-Party driver that allows us MacBook/MacBook Pro users to take advantage of DVD-RAM? I know older desktop systems allowed this feature.
Cheers

I assume you're looking to write to DVD-RAM disks? The MacBook Pro will read these disks, but not write to them. In order to write to one, you'll need to purchase an external drive.

  • Has anyone sucesfully installed 6750m drivers for MBP 2011 bootcamp ( windows 8.1)?

I am struggling with this for 2 days. I cannot get it working. I tried it via setup and manually via device manager. The problem is "yellow excalamation mark" next to the driver (the details says : "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
    My specs: i7 4*2.2ghz, 16gb ram,intel HD 3000 + 6750M 1GB
Has anyone sucesfully managed to installed this drivers?

On a preUEFI Mac, using EFI boot will cause Graphics and Audio issues at a minimum. You will need to use a MBR method for it to work properly. On a dual GPU MBP, CSM-BIOS does not expose the Intel integrated GPU to Windows (because Windows has no drivers for switching between the two GPUs), but as you can tell, EFI Boot does not know that, hence your issue.

  • DVD drive drivers for HP dv6-6195sp

I recently formatted my HP Pavilion dv6-6195sp and installed Windows 7 Professional 64bit. Now, everything was ok until I noticed the system hadn't recognized the DVD drive. I went to the HP support site and searched the drivers for my computer and everything else was there, just not the drivers for the DVD drive. I called the customer support for my country and the lady there had no clue about what I was talking about and what was the solution for my problem. Anyone can give me some help?

    Thanks for your quick reply.
I remembered in the meantime that about two weeks ago I sent my computer for a thorough internal clean up, and it might have happened that the technician accidentaly disconnected the cables that connect the DVD drive to the board. Now that I think of it, I remember using the DVD drive somewhere between the time I formatted the hard drive and the day I sent the computer for a clean up. I will head down to the store on Monday (since it is closed now) and see what I can find. If everything is plugged in correctly, I'll try your solution and come back for some feedback.
Again, thank you for your help.

  • Help with the DvD Ram driver for Satelite P10

On my notebook (Sattelite p10) is Windows 2000 Professinal running, but the DVD Ram driver from the Toshiba Homepage does not work...
Where I can get a driver which is working on my notebook?

    Hi Val,
The correct driver for your notebook running Wnidows 2000 should be version 3.0.8.0 and is available for download from the Toshiba website.
I presume that this is the one which you have tried, so I am not sure what you mean when you say that 'it doesn't work'.

  • DVD-RW drivers for Windows XP64

I am going to buy DVD - RW - TEAC DV-W512G or ASUS DRW-1604P. Please advise if I need special driver for these DVD ROMs when I use Windows XP64 bit edition? In the web sites I can see drivers for Win XP 32 bits only. If so, where can I download them.

How's your money supply? And what are you going to use the array for?
If (a) money is not a limiting factor and/or (b) you want the best raid performance for e.g. A/V editing then there's no contest - there are no other SATA drives that come anywhere near the 74GB WD Raptors. They are blindingly fast (beat the pants off same speed SCSI drives), quiet, reliable. The 36GB's are similar but not quite so quiet since the bearing mechanism is a bit different.
Other than that there are some new Hitachis that have had great reviews especially because they are the biggest you can get (400GB I think), support TCQ or NCQ whatever it is and are fast, reliable & quiet - all of this I've read and not seen myself. Based on my research these would be my second choice.
Next in the pecking order for me is any other decent brand name - WD Caviar, Seagate, Maxtor, etc. You'll read bad reports about Maxtors or others but as far as I'm concerned it's all nonsense since any of these drives can fail (I've had bad Seagates and never had bad Maxtors but others have reported the opposite) and it's often difficult to separate out the blame for failures between the drives & the chipsets. The best protection is knowing you have a good supplier who will not give you grief in the unlikely event you need to RMA them.
As for the floppy, this thread should get you going.
Good luck - I'm building mine this wekend as well.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • DVD-RAM support for iMac (late 2006)

    Hello,
    according to the thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4755862
    I have a iMac C2D 2,16GHZ and a Pioneer DVR-K06 DVD Drive
According the pioneer specifications this drive supports DVD-RAM read and write.
But it isn't possible. Why? DVD-RAM is ideal to backup data. It can be rewritten over 100,000 times (DVD±RW approx. 1,000 times)
It is possible that Apple supply a firmware update that allows to read and burn DVD-RAM?

Thank you and SG for your responses.
Several of my TV's DVD Recorder features are not available with the use of a regular DVD disc and require a DVD RAM disc (chapters, etc.) So I decided to do some experimenting and cross checking of the DVD Recorder and my computer DVD-RAM supported DVD burner/Premiere Elements with regard to disc types for DVD-VIDEO. That is what got us to my question.
Several months ago, I got involved in someone else's issue where he could not rip content from a DVD disc which had its origins in a camcorder that recorded to either a DVD-R or DVD-RAM disc. I suspect that my mini test ran into similar issues, that is, DVD-R with the recording format of DVD-VIDEO and DVD-RAM with the recording format of VR. (I added this explanation to clean up my previous misspoken comment about DVD-VIDEO format having a different folder/file structure depending on whether a DVD-R or DVD RAM was involved.)

Isn't it already stated at that the 64bit driver have no support for dvd-a? Maybe that's a limitation on the card on 64bit os.

  • RAM upgrade for MBP 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

I have a MBP 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo currently with 2 GB of RAM and with all the work I do on it I would like to upgrade to 4 GB. Purchasing the RAM through Apple is out of the question because it so expensive.
I would like to know what is the best brand to buy and on what website.. Is an upgrade to 4 GB possible for my MBP? It looks like I have my "Bank 0/DIMM0" filled with 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz and my "Bank 1/DIMM1" filled with the same thing. Does this mean that both of my RAM slots are full AND if I want to upgrade my RAM I'll have to purchase 2 sets of 2 GB RAM? Please help as I am new to all of the tech stuff...
Another side note... I've noticed that some discussions have stated that some MBP are only upgradable to 3 GB of RAM, but I'm pretty sure that I can upgrade mine to 4 GB of RAM. Can anyone shed any light on this?
    Your help is much appreciated...

yes, both of your RAM slots are full, so to get 4GB you will have to get 2 2GB sticks. Having the same model I can safely assure you that it will recognize all 4GB of the new Ram.
as for brands, there have been many I have seen recommended on this board, but one name seems to pop up consistently is Kensington, I picked up my ram from the store I bought my laptop at, so I couldn't recommend a site, sorry

  • New updated ATI drivers for MBP

    Hi!
I would like to know where I could find new drivers for the ATI chip? When I play Half Life 2 the system asks for updated drivers, but when I look around at www.ati.com/drivers I can´t find any drivers that fit my system....
They have a support site for ATI Mobility Radeon, but they don´t support Apple..
Does anyone know how to find the latest drivers?
MacBook Pro 15 2,16Ghz   Windows XP

If you want a tiny bit better preformance, though more for the fact of better stability and the possibility to overclock it to the 'proper' clocks, i suggest the omega drivers. www.omegadrivers.net - simple, and easy to install. They are the latest catalysts also from when i last checked. They also wont give you a hassle if you overclock teh card, unlike teh apple ati ones
    good luck!

  • 2G RAM stick for MBP 1.83Ghz ???

The question comes to mind, so is there a 2giga stick of RAM that we can shove in with the 512 "stock" to turbo boost it to 2.5 G,

or am I just dreaming again and have to face reality and buy one of those new super macs, which can run at 4G ? ? ?

yeah, Superduper is free, unregistered, some dosh ($'s) if want some privelages for the paranoid,
one (maybe) more question(s), i'm sure of course (maybe not!) , I plan on using eSATA enclosure, SIIG adapter, for my hard drive which is in my machine now so if I clone to the new drive via eSATA , that's possible yeah, cuz' the superduper site says firewire, but eSATA, it's better, faster, (able to leap taller .... etc !) so that should be alright, no harm in checking though,. . . .
but in this case why don't i just leave my old hardrive where it is and just connect the new eSATA hard-drive (hitachi) @7200 RPM and that 'll be like a second internal drive with 300mb/s, that's as fast as the internal drives, yeah ?
so making it no need for cloning, what do you reckon, or it's better to eventuall y install the 7200 RPM hard-drive into the MBP ?
Hope it's not too confusing this and other of my mac-dillema's
    thanks in advance

  • Ram usage for MBP

    Hello
I have a new MBP and have VMFussion with windows.
Now can someone explain me the activity monitor on Leopard. The CPU is often above 30% and memory is fully use even if I have "given" the VM 1.2GB only.
    See here:http://picasaweb.google.com/sezalped/AllSorts/photo#5235691418407380050
    Thanks a lot

Your memory is not fully used. You have 1.2 GBs inactive RAM. CPU usage with PC emulation is not unusual.
About OS X Memory Management and Usage
Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor
Memory Management in Mac OS X
Performance Guidelines- Memory Management in Mac OS X
A detailed look at memory usage in OS X
Understanding top output in the Terminal
The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.

  • RAM Recommendations For MBP

Hi, I just bought a MBP a month ago and wanted to upgrade the RAM to have it run my video editing softwares swiftly. I want to keep one of my original apple RAM sticks in case I have to return the laptop for repairs to apple and they create fuss about it. So I was wondering which is the best RAM to combine with the stock 1GB RAM to have a total of 3GB?
And also does anyone know what brand of RAM comes with the MBP?
    Thanks

Hey, Vivz. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on getting a MBP. Good choice.
First off: Most likely, you have Samsung RAM in your comp. I believe that's what the two latest versions ship with.
Second: I recommend that you skip right over 3GB and go straight to 4GB. I suggest this for two reasons. 1) It will be faster. 2) The MBP uses a dual-channel system, and you will slow down a bit with 3GB. Sure, you would notice a boost in some apps, but you wouldn't be getting your money's worth.
I am partial to Kingston RAM, personally. It comes with a lifetime warranty, and it's simply amazing. I recommend a Kingston 4GB Apple Notebook Memory kit from Newegg.com. That's what I use, and WOW is it much faster. Make sure you get the APPLE memory. If you get regular PC RAM, it may or may not work correctly. That happened to me on my other Mac.
    Here's a link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134560
For $90.00 USD, that's a great deal. I've had absolutely no problems with mine.
By the way, are you sure you have 1GB stock? The new MBP's ship with 2GB standard.

    Michael

  • CD/DVD Drive Drivers for HP Pavilion DV7-4152si

    Hi guys
I have a HP Pavilion DV7-4152si and i am trying to reinstall windows on a completely new HDD.
My previous HDD blew up and i never made a recovery disk.
i tried to get the CD/DVD Drive driver on HP's website but cant find anyhing of te sort could somebody please advise me on what to do.

That usually indicates that the DVD drive has an issue.
You can try updating the firmware to try to resolve the issue, but that usually does not help. You have an older notebook and unfortunately the DVD drive has gone south.
    I recommend:
Testing your notebook's DVD drive by using a live version of Ubuntu on a usb flash drive.
Using an external usb DVD drive or the less expensive solution of creating a usb Windows installer. I usually use the Microsoft store's Windows download\usb tool to do that. the useage instructions and a link to the tool are here.
