DVD Recorder Play Back of JPEG Images enhanced using PSE 2.0

I recently purchased a HDD DVD Recorder but am having difficulty playing back JPEG still photo images contained in CD-Rs produced on a PC (Operating system XP SP2). Images are all collectively revealed in thumbnail form in the Picture View but only those individual images that have NOT been PSE 2.0 enhanced (e.g. improved contrast, cloning etc.) can be expanded to full screen view. In the case of the others, the following message is displayed : Can not be played on this unit. All images play back successfully on DVD/ CD drives of original PC.
The only solution I have found is to open & save to MS Paint (stripping out hidden data ??) before burning to CD. However, this is laborious and reduces resolution.
Any other suggestions welcomed.

Hi Malcom,
You can export as new file from Organizer and then use those new images to burn to disc.

  • Subtitles won't play back off disk image or DVD player.

    Hello,
I am running into problems seeing the sole subtitle track that I have thru a TV DVD Player or a burned disk image. All is fine in DVD SP's Simulator. So the bottom line is that I am doing something wrong, heh?
My set-up is very straight forward: one main menu page, from which I have a "Subtitle Yes No" set of buttons to respectively enable/disable the subtitle track. The "Yes"/"No" buttons enable/disable the subtitle track by checking/unchecking the "View" box of the Button Inspector as described in the first part of this article: http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/dvd_sp2subtitles.html
Furthermore, other menu pages are accessed, playing back media from a single track with numerous chapters in it, and stories made out of that track. I was hoping I could refrain from needing to duplicate all stories, e.g. One set of stories with the subtitling track enabled, the other set disabled, but it seems like this is the way to go to make it work.
Is there another approach to this? I am rather new to DVD SP and am not familiar with Scripts - would a script help this out?
Thanks in advance for any help you could provide...
    Cheers,
    Alain

OK so I've answered my own question, thought I'd post it here if ever this can help someone else...
Duplicating menus and stories toggling on/off the "View" checkbox of my subtitle stream did not work, which is a good thing in a way because it was an ugly scene to work with.
I guess I was impressed by the "Script" term and refrained from using it, but it turns out to be very easy and simple to use... On my "Subtitle - Yes" button, I targetted a 2-liner script that enables "SPRM 2" (the "Subpicture Stream") with the "On" value of 64 for Stream 1. On my Subtitle - No button, I targetted another 2-liner script that disables "SPRM 2" by assigning it a value of 0.
I find the DVDSP documentation on scripting a little lame though, I guess I would have liked some more examples to help the scripting "science" sink in...
    Cheers,
    Alain

  • Dvd studio pro: plays back sound witout image

I just burned a small project following all prescribed settings for compressing and mastering (these have worked in the past), the dvd will playback fine on my computer but when played back on home dvd system only the audio is present.
thanks for any help that can be passed along.

It seems to me that this comes under the "weird stuff is happening" with writable DVD media section. DVD+R and DVD-R are not the most reliable things in the world, especially with older players and strange things can happen. Here's what I would do:
First, confirm that your video cables are connected to the television from the DVD player (HDMI, DVI, Component, SVHS, RCA, etc.)
Second, what type of disc are these? Who is the manufacturer? Some are more reliable than others.
Third, try it out on a few different DVD players and a few computers.
Fourth, if you find that it works on most players, but not one, try changing the brand of disc. DON'T USE MEMOREX!!! Stick with Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim for the best results. Then try writing it at a slower speed.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

  • DVDSP 3 somewhat BLOCKY look on DVD when played back

I have been shooting my home footage on a Canon GL2
    editing in FCP 4.5
and when I have a finished sequence to be placed on a DVD, I have been exporting the Self Contained Quicktime w/ chapter makers.
I then importing these Quicktime files into DVDSP-3
I have experimented with serveral of the encoding setting (Bit Rate, 1 pass VBR, 2 pass VBR etc...)
I have been told in forums before not to go above 8mps on the bit rate in order to ensure that my DVD will play on most players.
So, the best setting that I have found is the 2 pass VBR, 7.5 average, 8 max bit rate, and Best on the motion estimation...
But, I have still been somewhat frustrated when watching these DVDs back because of the blocky look I am seeing in some of the scenes.
Is there a better way I should be compressing?
Should I be using compressor instead... strait from my FCP timeline... to MPEG 2?
Shorter GOPs? Would that effect how the DVDs will play on some players?
    I appreciate any help!!!
    Thanks, Greg

    Greg
You may want to try an alternative Encoder ! A bit drastic but I have had so many problems with MPEG2's using Compressor and encoding through DVDSP (probably down to me not understanding the 'black art'!) that I bought BitVice Vers 1.6 from Innobits. It is not cheap (£215/$317) and only encodes MPEG2's but the results I am getting are very acceptable just using the default settings but changing the target bit rate to 5.5. Very easy/simple to use. The pictures have a real 'punch' to them and there are no artifacts/blurring etc - which is a major bonus! You can download a trial version which encodes as normal but places a watermark over the top of the final output. Even so, it does give you an idea of what it can do and it made me purchase the encoder straight away!

  • Recording/playing back with Creative Media Sou

I have a C00 Mp3 player which came bundled with some creative software, including a software Mp3 player and recorder for windows.
I have tried recording via the sound output of the sound card, and at 28kbps it does fine. But when I record at 40kbps (for example a radio talk show), then try to play it back, it plays back at many times the correct speed.
When I open the 40kbps file that I recorded with this Creative software, using Winamp, it plays fine. The creative software mp3 player can open and play other 40kbps files I've recorded (using Audacity) with no problems.
Anyone know how to fix this?

I haven't played it back on the C00 - I mean it plays back too fast on the windows software they include (but fine on Winamp).
    Any ideas?

  • Audio recording/play-back plug-in error

Hi there. Posted on here before...I'm having a problem with my JMF program. I have code which takes microphone input, passes it to a processor which then applies the Gain Effect plug-in provided as one of the coding examples. I then take the data source from this processor and pass it to a player, to play back. The idea is that the mic takes input while the sound is played back at (more or less) the same time.
And now my problem. When the plug-in is applied, the sound played back is not what it should be. In fact, it is like a low infrequent static sound. It is hard to describe! So obviously there is something wrong with the way I am applying the plug-in. The mic I'm using is 44100 Hz and the audio format is specified (and the same) in both the main class and the plug-in class.
Below is my code. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    Thank-you.

Thanks for that last answer. Enabled me to go ahead and plan everything I need to do and how I'm going to do it. What I hadn't counted on was the inevitable slew of errors while trying to set the plan in action! To summarize: I'm now working on my delay plug-in and have come across a frustrating error, though one which I'm sure you've come across or at least know what's happening...
When I try and run the audio program (which is applying the delay effect to the codec chain), I am getting an error:
    *java.lang.ClassCastException: [S cannot be cast to [B*

As you can see at the end of my plug-in in the setSample method, I have to store short data in a byte array. I am going about this in the correct way...according to Google. Yet, when I run the program the test Sys.out's I've put in the last two methods print to the console for a significant time before the error is received, which suggests that it has nothing to do with the way I'm converting the short data to byte[] data...right?

  • How do I change the JPEG image size in PSE-12 when opening from RAW

Switching from PSE-9 to PSE-12. When a JPEG image is opened RAW in PSE-12 the size is 18.72" Wide x 12.48" high 300 DPI. The same image in PSE-9 is 23.4" wide x 15.6" High 240 DPI. How do I get PSE-12 to open the image as in PSE-9?

Uncheck the boxes at the bottom of the dialog Scale styles and resample Image so that only constrain proportions is checked. If you the change the resolution box from 240 to 300 you will get back to your original dimensions.
This is a meaningless thing to do, you still have the exact same number of pixels, you have only changed the metadata number in the file for ppi, and your prints are not affected by this number.
You could also use the same method to change the dimensions to 6 x 4 or 9 x 6 etc.
There are some cases (actually most cases) where you need to CROP the photo to change the dimensions, when the aspect ratio of the original photos is different than the aspect ratio of the final photo; the specific case in 99jon's example is the only case you ever want to change dimensions using Image->Resize->Image Size, where the aspect ratio doesn't change from 6x4 to 9x6 (or 12x8 or 18x12 or ...), and even then, you could do the same thing simply by telling the printer the size you want, you don't really need to do anything in PSE.

  • Iphoto not accepting jpeg images saved using Preview "save as"

I have a number of tiff images on my desktop. Am trying to save them as jpeg images directly into iPhoto using the Preview "save as" function. When I do this, I can find no image in iPhoto. When I "save as" jpeg to my desktop, the jpeg image appears there and I can drag to iPhoto, but this is laborious compared with saving directly. Can anyone help me with this?

TD, thanks for commenting on this, and I think I see your point--I used the wrong term when I wrote "import". However, in Preview there is what I see to be a "save as jpeg to iPhoto" option. Why is this available if it does not work? Or to take it from another angle--what can you do with this option? In the end, I guess my basic question is: Is there a more direct way to get tiff images into iPhoto from the desktop than saving them first to the desktop as jpeg? Apologies for piling question on question.

  • My website is accessible via Internet Explorer but not Firefox? It is a simple jpeg image being used as a home page.

No matter whether I am using FireFox on MAC or Windows my new posted home page is not showing up when I access the domain.
The home page in question is only a jpeg image labeled index.html in the prime directory. The jpeg or "home page" is accessible and is coming up correctly in IE. I am checking it on a desktop MAC and a Windows 7 laptop. Again the home page is only one file.

  • DVD from TV DVD Recorder plays on one iMac and not another

I've recorded DVD+Rs on a Sony DVD/VHS analog/digital recorder. They play fine on my white iMac, but appear as a blank burnable disk on my aluminum iMac. Could this be a software issue of something I've added to the white iMac they do play on? Darned if I know what it is...
    Any troubleshooting suggestions gratefully accepted.

Turns out the link above will answer the question.
    Plug in the swiper.
    Go to the Apple menu.
    Click System Preferences.
    Click Keyboard.
On the Keyboard tab, click Change Keyboard Type. The Keyboard Setup Assistant appears in a new window.

  • Producing and playing back a multi-image show

I've been asked by a photographer friend to produce a 'show' of his work (projected to an audience of about 200). Many of his photos are high quality landscape panoramas.
My hopes are to produce a soundtrack and have images moving/dissolving in synchronisation with it. I'd also like to have it projected at the highest quality, possibly with multi-screens.... maybe utilising 2 or 3 decent (matched) projectors.
    Where to start???
How can I synchronise 2-3 projectors... what do I playback from... do I do 2-3 movies from FCP...???
There is a sponsor who wants to know how much it will cost... so I'd like to look at a couple of options.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts/ideas.
    Steve

There are specialized "video wall" software/hardware solutions. I've never used them so can't comment on their applicability for your purposes.
A simpler way may be to acquire a Matrox Triple head to go DVI splitter and 3 DVI capable projectors.
Set up your project as a super wide screen custom sequence (eg 3x 1280x720p = 3840x720 progressive) and place your images within that framework. When you play it back, stretch the playback image over the three projectors.
I have no idea whether this would actually work ... lol. but one thing to be aware of is the the three projectors will not likely all be able to display exactly the same color at the same time. What this means is if you have images that slide from one display to another, there is likely to be a discernable color shift.

  • Meeting Place 8.0 Audio Recording play back

    Hi,
We are currently using Meeting place 8.5, it is currently installed as Express Media server (Single server solution) as audio only conferencing solution.
I am able to record a meeting using meetingplace conference manager, but there is no option to find/play the recording, when i select the meeting and check the meeting details, I can find that the meeting is recorded but Attachment is displayed as No.
I found links which says to find the meeting using Meeting place web scheduler and find meetings but is if no avail as there is not web server installed in my setup.
Would like to if there is any way to find/play the recording.
    Thanks,
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
Accessing or playback of recordings requires a Web Scheduling server to manage and convert the recording from the Application server. This is not possible with just an applicaiton server alone.
    Thanks,

  • Botton video on menu gets pixelated and pulses when burt DVD is played back

Created a menu with buttons that contain video from the same asset it plays. They were HD mpegs that were converted to SD for the project. When viewed in simulator, everything looks fabulous. However, when I burn the disc and play it back on a laptop, the video in the button looks really compressed and has a weird pulse. Note-The target track plays fine. Can anyone help?

  • How to burn an iMovie to a DVD to play back on a TV

    Hi!
I'm new to ilife. I have done a project with some photos and added a song and transition effects. It came to a total of 2 minutes and 24 seconds. Now I want to burn it to a dvd so my grandmother can play it on her dvd player, but I can't do it. I have tried different dvd's such as dvd+r and dvd-r; I've copied and pasted the movie, moved it, etc, but it doesn't work
I see that there is much more to it than what I expected, can somebody guide me on this?
    Thanks!
