DVD rejected for replication

I created a small, simple DVD using DVDSP 3.0.2 and my client sent it for replication. The replicators rejected my DVD for mastering and sent this snotty email:
"Master rejected due to video manager IFO and BUP files in the same ECC block, attach is the loading report and below the explanation report.
Video Manager IFO and BUP files in the same ECC block
The DVD-Video specifications require that the Video Manager Information file (VIDEO_TS.IFO) and its backup (VIDEO_TS.BUP) NOT be recorded in the same ECC block.
Background: For redundancy purposes, the DVD-Video specifications require a backup file for the Video Manager Information file. If this file should become corrupt, a DVD-Player can locate the backup file and use it instead. If the two files overlap within the same ECC Block, it is possible that if the ECC fails, it will cause both files to be unreadable.
Error Severity: This requirement is in the specifications to guarantee playability of a disc in the event that the IFO file is corrupt. With normal use, a disc may develop scratches and other physical detects over time. If an error should occur in the ECC Block where both of these files are recorded, then it may render both files unreadable. It is for this reason that this rule is set to Warning severity.
Possible Cause: This problem is caused by the authoring system that created the image. It is the responsibility of the authoring system to ensure that these files do not overlap within the same ECC Block.
Possible Solution: This problem can only be corrected by an authoring system.
Type: DVD Rule
Reference: DVD Part 3: Video Specifications
Default Program Action: Warning
Rule ID: 474"
I have never had this problem before and this is by no means the first DVD I've sent for repliaction! This is, however, the first time we're using this particular company to do the replication.
I checked the build and the VIDEO_TS.IFO and its backup VIDEO_TS.BUP files are in the same folder, which is probably why they've ended up on the same ECC block.
I've scoured the manual and can find no way to change this.
I've also checke these groups and can find no reference to this issue.
Has anyone encountered this problem before?
Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Hi Hal
No, I did not uncheck "Lossless Linking". I now see that I should have because the User Manual says: "While Lossless Linking usually results in a flawless write process, there is a slight potential for an error to be introduced. If you are burning a disc for use by a replication facility, you may want to deselect Lossless Linking so that you can ensure that your disc is written without interruption."
This is a bit cryptic. It doesn't explain what the "error" that may be "introduced" is. I'll give it a go and let you all know how I go.
Thanks to both Alex and hal for the advice.

  • Can DVDSP create a CSS enabled Video_TS ready for replication?

Can I create a copy-protected DVD with a Video_TS folder ready for replication?
From what I understand, copy-protected DVD's for replication can only be created through the DDP file process. That means that the replicator must apply a "mastering process" to the files before a glass master is created.
I am being told my a replicator that in the past, they have received discs from clients that are copy protected and ready for replication. Is this possible? Can I burn these type of discs with DVD Studio Pro and a built in burner?

Here is a post from another site that provides more details--basically the answer to my question is no.
Can I create a copy-protected DVD with a Video_TS folder ready for replication?
Nope. All CSS encrypted DVD's must be in DDP or CMF format on either hard drive, DLT, or DVD-R (provided as DVD-ROM, not Video_TS).
The "mastering process" is us (replicators) adding the actual CSS keys to the final image while it is premastering. DVD Studio Pro "flags" the master with CSS. The keys are added in the premastering stage at the replicator before glass is made (unless you use Scenarist, you can add the keys upon output, which doesn't make it playable but the Eclipse software will see the keys are present and we don't have to add them).
I am being told by my replicator that in the past, they have received discs from clients that are copy protected and ready for replication. Is this possible? Can I burn these type of discs with DVD Studio Pro and a built in burner?
I would think that this would be the DDP image with the CSS keys included. I dont believe there is any way to output a playable DVD that has CSS to a DVD-R on any authoring system. Even if there was you cannot premaster a DVD-Video with CSS at any replication facility.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

  • Bitrate for Replication

Hi, if someone could help it would be very much appreciated.
I am making a DVD-9 for replication. When I am burning DVDrs on my machine I generally encode at the standard vbr 6.2 - 7.7 with AIC. This leads to a maximum bit rate, I assume, of around 8
With replication can I, or should I, go higher? I have seen DVD creation in a big studio where the guy was pushing all max data rates up to 9.8 . He was using a PC program.
I remember reading a couple of years ago that Apple's compressor was unreliable and often put spikes above the maximum set. Is this the reason why the 6.2 to 7.7 is suggested?
I notice in this interesting article by Brian Gary on Cinema craft that he sugests a VBR with an average of 6 and a max of 9 (towards the end of the article - it's quite long!)
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/cinema_craftencoder.html
Anyhow any advice here would be appreciated. I would like the get the best picture I can while being readable on older dvd players. I am also looking at Bitvice but I like Compressor as its downscaling is good.
I'm using footage from a Sony Z1 HDV transcoded to Prores 50i
    Thanks

So you'd suggest having a total max bitrate no more than 8.2 for replicated?
As the target market for the disk is 50+ it needs to play on older set top boxes
Compressor can work fine, but you mention 50+ discs, are you duplicating and not replicating? If duplicating definately err lower than higher.
Average of 6, High of 8 (I would usually use 7.5 for discs from computers/duplication depedning on project) and AC3 files should work. Also older players can be more of a PITA...

  • My dvd slot for imac10,1 does not work. It rejects the disc. Problem after reinstall of backup from hdd.

My dvd slot for imac10,1 does not work. I had a new harddrive installed in November and the MacStore installed my backups from an external harddrive. I do not use it other than to upload programs, so I have not tried using it until tax season, but it rejects the disc. The ata file indicates no dvd firmware, but the serial-ata does indicate firmware for a dvdrw. What might I do about this to bring the dvd back, least expensive to most?

Yesterday I started having the same problem. Can read disc (play movies and music) but blank disk are ejected or idvd cannot see the blank disk. I have a almost 12 month old 27" i7 imac.

  • What setting in Toast for creating a DVD-R master for replication?

I just Downloaded the new Toast 7 Titanium.
What setting should I use to burn a DVD-R to send in for replication?
    Someone else said DVD-ROM UDF
There is also a "Make Video DVD from VIDEO_TS folder"
    Which one?

Sorry peeps! haven't looked here for awhile... (been really really busy...)
Don't use either of those options unless you know what you're doing and you know what dvdsp is doing!
If the dvd-r is for replication then you should check region 7 to make the disc region all. It used to be checked by default but is not any longer...! Then when you format set the Output Device to Hard Drive and the Output Format to .img
Now in Toast you select Copy>Image File. Burn two copies at as slow a speed as possible. It's worth knowing, some say that writing at rated speeds is best but from the many many times I've seen recordable media issues it seems that writing slower solves the problem more than the other way around!
Doing that will mean that your disc remains Region All, unlike if you use a Build to the Hard Drive and burn with Toast. You can control the burn speed & you don't have to worry about removing the .LAY, .layout files etc.
Some versions of Toast are helpful, version 6.0.7 or later has options which will remove any files that shouldn't be in the VIDEO_TS directory for you, makes sure an empty AUDIO_TS folder is included etc but that doesn't help you much if DVDSP doesn't let you control the region flags with Builds to the Hard Drive. Using an .img solves all that.
If you use the Data>Advanced>DVD-ROM (UDF) option you should use DVDAfterEdit or MyDVDEdit to correct the regions settings. Then manually remove the .LAY, .layout, PAR folder etc that should not be in the VIDEO_TS folder.
If you use the Video>Advanced>DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS folder you still need to correct the regions setting but Toast removes all the other 'stuff' for you and adds the (empty) AUDIO_TS folder.
FWIW, when you Format & Burn direct to disc out of DVDSP it does as it's told. The .LAY, .layout etc files are removed (see the log) and the regions ALL setting is as you'd expect.

  • DVD@ccess and replication

I'm just getting into this issue, and I've researched some past threads on DVD@ccess for linking to urls and also pdfs. It seems the conventional wisdom is that, for maximum compatibility and interactivity, Sonic's eDVD is preferred to DVD@ccess. Is this a fair assessment?
Also, does replication alter the equation in any way? What I mean is, will the replication process smooth out any operational issues that might plague simple burning a disc?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Yeah I'd say that is fair. eDVD is prefered. But not having links can often be best! as both have their issues...
Nope replication doesn't alter the equation regarding the 'Enhanced'features,

  • CD DVD reject

    Clearing a CD DVD Reject

    HL-DT-ST DVDRW  GA32N:
The other day I ejected a data disk using the "eject key" before it was finished.
Now the drive won't take CDs or dVDs. They go in. They Plop out.

Exact same CDs and DVDs are just ine on my other older intel Mac.

Can anyone direct me to an article that discusses this problem?

[mac user since '88...first time i've come across this one]

Samsung SE-S084D Turned out to be a "dumb luck " Solution. Got it at a local PC repair place and then also discovered it on Amazon [they have a newer one i think]. Works PCs as well. Mac Logo on the box.
After I picked it up I went to the Apple Store and nearly bought a SuperDrive... but waited to try the Samsung.
Then I discovered the External Super works with Air and Mini...but won't work with...an iMac.
My machine is 2010 and I burned less than 200 dvd's [disks from tv] I've only had one Apple componet fail on me since 1988 [hard dive for SE]. But the thought of having to give up the i5, have it opened and then hope for another 2 years...gives me pause.
The $60.00 Samsung gives me relief.
When plugged in to a dedicated USP port...I'm impressed with the speed.
Less than 20 min for the image and less than 20 for write-verify. OWS has a firewire Alternative at about 150, but the 'Sam is good enough for now.

  • Apple rejection for failure to purchase subscription

One of our iPad apps built using DPS Viewer Builder (Version 2.1.130) has been rejected for failing to purchase a subscription successfully. I've submitted a sprint 20 and sprint 21 viewer, and both have apparently exhibited this bug and been subsequently rejected. See Apple's reason (identical for r20 and r21 viewers):
    Jun 29, 2012 01:30 PM. From Apple.
    2.2
We found that your app exhibited one or more bugs, when reviewed on iPad (3rd Gen) running iOS 5.1.1, on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
When the user attempts to purchase a subscription, an activity indicator is displayed indefinitely and the subscription is not purchased. If the user quits the app and restarts, a blank screen is displayed in the storefront and the app freezes.
So far I have not been able to reproduce this bug. On my developer and adhoc builds, subscriptions purchase successfully each time. Obviously storefront issue (we have a custom html store) is ours to debug but I need to reproduce this subscription error in order to do so.
Has anyone else seen this issue? If so, do you have a more specific and reliable reproduction sequence to get it to happen?

Do you have renditions in place for your folio? If so, please make sure the folio title, productID, and publication date are exactly the same. For the publication date, you need to set it manually to ensure that the timestamp is precisely the same as your other rendition files.
If that isn't your case, please follow up with me at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> with your productID and I'll do some research.
    Thanks.

  • Reason for rejection for sale order stock existing line item

    Hi,
I am giving reason for rejection for a line item where there is already sale order stock. Then I am getting a warning message like " there is sale order stock assigned". I want this message to be as error message. Any customisation (SPRO) is there for this?
    Kindly update.
    Ratna

    Dear Rama Rao
I think, there is no problem you can ignore the warning message and go ahead give reason of rejection and close the order
There wont be any problem absolutely
The reason  of warning message is, (it is sales order created with item category with special stock indicator as E )  that means the system tells you that it is extra special stock which you have created and now you are trying to reject hence it alerts you by giving a warning  message
The item category of the items which you are trying to reject  is marked  or should have been marked with special stock indicator (you can check that in VOV7)
By double clicking warning message if it is of V4 message class in t code OVAH you can make that as no message
But i doubt that this is available in OVAH

  • Looking for a external blu ray dvd burner for my mac

looking for a external blu ray dvd burner for my mac

There are plenty of options but I have found that the LaCie d2 http://blu-ray.burnworld.com/burners/lacie-d2.htm works more consistantly. I use Toast 11 mainly for Blu-Ray. The drive does come with a basic verison of the software which is good for most but you need to upgrade to do some serious authoring.

Sorry, but doing this requires breaking copyright protection commerical DVDs, which is technically illegal. Therefore, the Terms of Use on this forum prohibit discussion of this.

Thanks, A Brody.  Don't know what the PRAM battery is.  Here are more details of the fault ... Although I've had the iMac for 5 years this may be the first time I've tried copying a video recording onto the DVD drive (I've made lots of CD copies without a problem).  The folder and files all seem to be reproduced in identical order on the disc but my domestic DVD player cannot make sense of the recording, unlike the original source DVD from which the files originated.  The drive has always been noisy but I've never assumed it shouldn't be!  Does this fit your PRAM battery theory?  If so, please explain more.  Thanks.

  • CRM 7.0 / IS-U: adding custom fields to Business agreement for replication

    Hello Experts!
We're working on replication of custom fields from IS-U to CRM 7.0.
Can you help me with clarification of my understanding of these questions..?
    1) CRM/IS-U mapping tables for buag_main:
Business Agreement(BUAG_MAIN) is a BO in CRM that corresponds to CRM table CRMM_BUAG and to Contract account in IS-U table FKKVKP.
Table FKKVKP were enhanced with some z-fields,
so we are going to enhance corresponding CRM table CRMM_BUAG (or CRMM_BUAG_H) with that new fields..
But we see that these CRM and IS-U tables have far not the same field structures..
So, the question: Which crm and is-u tables i should look, enhance and replicate for Business agreement?
    2) Access to Business agreement with possibility to add custom field:
I couldn't find in Web UI where i can directly edit profile of Business Agreement..
I've found just access to assignment block "Business agreement" on Account's profile overview page..(Role ServicePRO; Account details).
There I used AET to add custom field..but I faced with problem when the 1st popup appeared: there was no enhanced object "Business Agreement"..
Also in role "Utilities IC Agent" i've found "business agreement" profile but there I don't see buttons for adding custom fields..
So, the question is: Where I can access Business agreement profile to enhance it with custom fields for replication with IS-U?
    3) CRM/IS-U data exchange functions:
I tend to use tcode CRMC_BUT_CALL_FU:
for CRM inbound event of BUAG object  - FM CRM_BUAG_MWX_PROCESS_EXT_STRUC..(as template).
Question: Am I right that it fits my requirement to replicate custom fields from IS-U to CRM?
Please tell me if you need more information..
    Looking forward to your answers.
Thank you a lot in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Evgenia

    Hi Gobi,
    Thank you for advice. But:
I've created fields not by using AET - I used documentation that Nicolas suggested me above.
I've enhanced tables and structures that were mentioned there with my z-fields for both sides (CRM and ERP).
Also I looked CRMC_BUT_CALL_FU for CRM Inbound BUAG_MAIN - corresponding standard FMs are marked for call.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    BR,
    Evgenia

  • Can't install the Toshiba HD DVD Player for Windows 7 - 64 Bit

Notebook: Toshiba Qosmio G40 with windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
I can't install the HD DVD Player Driver from Toshiba for Windows 7 - 64 Bit 4.60.03 from 30/11/09 !
The installation will be cancel with information that the software can not be installed on this system.

Problem is that this file you have downloaded is not the player but just an update.
Usually you should be able to install player designed for Vista and later install this upgrade but, as I can see, Toshiba doesnt offer HD DVD player for Vista 64-bit.
I presume your notebook was delivered with Vista 32-bit only. Am I right about that?

  • Recommend a good external DVD drive for Mac?

can anyone recommend a good external rewritable DVD drive for my EMac? i want something that will work with iDVD of course... thanks in advance.

LaCie is one. The Macally 500BC Firewire/USB 2.0 enclosure with a separate Pioneer S-Drive is another viable option.
I personally use multiple ADS Tech 1394 Pyro FW Enclosures with a Pioneer 110D S-Drive as well as a few ext. FW HD's and they all work well on mult. G4 systems (completely interchangeable via FW 400).
This link may help you to build your own S-Drive if you wish:
