  • DVD DECRYPTER and VIDEORA

I know this has probably been posted heaps but i would really like to know if dvd decrypter and videora are good for getting ready for being viewed on the ipod video. and i would like to know if anyone has had any problems?
if anyone could help, thank you very much!!

Videora will convert DVD Vob's but I have never done this. Follwoing the advice from someone on this forum (Ethan francis??) I used a separate program (DVDx) to create avi files.
What i noticed when I opened these files in QT pro was that if i went to the movie properties there was no audio track 9apparently) although they played fine on my PC. Converted movies also had no sound. So i used a second program (found a link to it on here) whose name i forget. this second program converted the avi to an mpg4 file. When i open this file in QT and view the properties, audio is there. (this could explain the previous problems reported of soundless audio)
I then converted half of my files to h264 (or whatever it is) via quicktime pro and the second half via videora (using the SP/320x240......settings previously posted).
I did this before I bought the iPOD and wasn't holding out for it to work. I was wrong. All files synced to the iPOD fine and play perfectly. Quality wise the files converted via QT pro are much better however, they took an age to convert.
So OK, I AM using 3 steps, BUT it works flawlessly which is all that matters to me.
Videroa works brilliantly with mpg/ avi and you can convert in batch. however, it would only install on my work PC and not my home and so I have to queue files as i leave at night and pick them up the next day....

  • No sound after using DVD Decrypter and Videora

Last night I used DVD decrypter to rip Fight Club and then used Videora to covert the .vob file to MPEG-4, following the directions on the Videora website. I loaded into iTunes, and then onto my iPod, but the sound doesn't work at all even though the video looks great. I have converted two .avi files with videora and I've had no problem watching them on my iPod. I did notice that the instructions on the videora site said to only select the top movie in the list that has all the 2 channel and 6 channel files. The movie plays in iTunes with no sound as well. Anyone have any ideas?

OK, I am an idiot. I only selected the video and forgot the 6 channel audio.
Note for future people with this problem:
Don't just select the first file in the list under stream processing like Videora's website says. You also need to select an audio file to rip and from what I'm hearing, to avoid problems, select the 6 CH audio.

  • Are there any DVD copiers and Video- iPod converters out there?

I want something other than DVD Decrpyter and Videora, because they aren't working for me. Anything else?

I'm using both alternately and are both good. No need for decrypter. By the way, these are not free as well but mine are.

  • DVD Decrypter and TV shows on DVD

THanks to you all - I successfully converted DVDs to my iPod video using DVD Decrypter and Videora but I have one question
I want to do the same for my TV shows that are on DV 9 SOuth Park, Dave Chappelle, etc ) . Any tips, suggestion casue Ive never done that?
Do I just decrypt it as one big movie or is there an option to break it decrypt it as several files, one for each show?
    THanks

Oh I forgot to add that I have looked at the DVD in question , and it appears that you have to do one show at a time? Is this right....or is there a way to put it all in one file and Im just not seeing it

  • Why do my converters (dvd ripper & mac the ripper) only recognise 14mins?

I have a dvd (50mins of footage) that i need to extract however both dvd ripper and mac the ripper only register 14mins of the 50mins worth of footage. The dvd plays fine however this problem occurs when trying to convert the (private) dvd (has no copy protection). Mac the ripper has just come up with a warning saying the dvd has been made with delibrate bad sectors.... what does this mean? What does padding the dvd mean?
    Thanks!

Since you posted this in the FCE forum, should we assume you plan to edit the footage from the DVD? If so, use MPEG Streamclip or DVDxDV to convert the DVD's VOB files to an editable format that FCE works with natively.

  • What format shiould i burn dvd in to play in blueray player? Using MacX DVD Ripper Pro and Handbrake

what format should i burn dvd in to play in blueray player? Using MacX DVD Ripper Pro and Handbrake

MacX DVD Ripper Pro and Handbrake
Neither is suitable for burning DVDs or BluRay media. They are DVD rippers/converters, not DVD authoring tools.  Handbrake doesn't produce any format suitable for DVD Authoring.   And while MacDVD Ripper can create .mov files even that's not a guarantee the file can be used for DVD authoring.  You need DVD Authoring software like Roxio Toast to burn DVDs or BluRay disks.
Most BluRay players can play both standard def DVDs and high def BluRay disks.  Which kind do you want to burn?  And what exactly is your source media (video) that you want to burn?
And if you want to burn BluRay disks, you need a BluRay burner.

  • What's a safe DVD ripper to make copy of personal DVD movie and other movies?

What's a safe DVD ripper to make copy of personal DVD movie and then make a copy to another blank DVD?

The easiest way is to use Disk Utility to create a disk image of the DVD; you can then burn that to a blank DVD (and indeed play it using the DVD player).
Insert your DVD. Open Disk Utility and select it in the sidebar (the disk itself, not the drive it's in.) Click 'New Image' in the toolbar.
In the dialog box which opens set 'Image Format' to 'DVD/CD Master' and 'Encryption' to 'none'. This will make an exact copy without re-compressing.
Obviously this will not work on a commercially issued DVD, only on ones you make yourself or which are not DRM protected.

  • Looking for FREE DVD Ripper. Not one that rips 5 minutes!!! Suggestions?

I'm looking for a DVD ripper that rips the entire DVD, not just 5 minutes. Oh yeah, a free one too. I'm not spending $30 when I could just download the movie, and convert it with Videora. Any suggestions?
    -Mike

I was hoping for a specific program. I've used google to look for one, but they're free, meaning the free version only lets you rip 5 minutes.

  • Best CLI DVD ripper IYO?

What's the best CLI DVD ripper IYO?
There are quite a few options as far as ripping a DVD from the commandline goes; there's burn, the python script, or dvd-backup, another decent command line utility, or the script on the wiki for use with mplayer's mencoder.
I'm looking for opinions as to which is the best, or alternatively, why you like the one you've got. Being a CLI-fanatic, I want the best ripper I can run in a terminal, with the lowest number of dependencies possible, and preferably no gui at all (i.e. not mencoder, which requires you to have mplayer installed)
    Your thoughts?

shadowhand wrote:Two questions about dumping DVDs: Can you loopmount the dump? And if so, can you rip the loopmount?
You can loopmount it with mount -o loop movie.img. But why would you want to? You can play them with mplayer -dvd-device movie.img dvd:// or set the dvd device node of your favorite multimedia player to movie.img.
As for the second question: I'm not entirely sure. There'll probably some dvd rippers that can rip from an image. I also know that FreeBSD has a program (vndconfig?) that can create a device node that points at the image. I'm not sure Linux can do something like that. But again: why would you want to?

  • How to play DVD movie and video on Blackberry

This guide is mainly about how to rip DVD and convert video to BlackBerry Storm. First, you should know what video format is BlackBerry Storm supports.
Because DVD has CSS copyright protection, we need a program to rip DVD and convert video for BlackBerry Storm. The tool we use is BlackBerry Converter Suite, it includes two programs: DVD to BlackBerry Storm Converter and BlackBerry Storm Video Converter. This program not only supports BlackBerry Storm, but also BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry Bold series.
It supports audio and video format as follow:
Video: DVD, ISO, AVI, MPEG, MKV, MP4, MP4-AVC, M4V, WMV, MOV, 3GP, 3G2, MPG, FLV, ASF, VOB
    Audio: WMA, M4A, MP3, AAC, AC3, WMA
For more info about this BlackBerry Converter Suite, you can refer to here.
And here is the free download link, about 12.4 MB.
Now, let’s start the guide about converting DVD and Video to BlackBerry Storm.
Step1, Download and install the BlackBerry Storm converter, and then run it.
Step2. Load DVD into the software by clicking “Add DVD file”.
Here we can load three kinds of DVD's:
    1. Real DVD, just put the DVD in your DVD drive and click load DVD, (you can find it by clicking the triangle on the right of 'load file' button.)
    2. DVD ISO image, you can amount your ISO files in the daemon tools and then load the virtual DVD drive.
    3. A DVD folder, sometimes you may store the DVD folder in your hard drive, it appears like "Video_TS" "Audio_TS" folders. You can load it by clicking the "load DVD folders" button.
Step3. Select Profile, Subtitle, Audio, output directory setting
After you load DVD into the software, click the Profile drop-down list to select the proper format according to your BlackBerry Type, this guide is mainly about how to convert DVD and video to BlackBerry Storm, so we select the “BlackBerry Storm series(*.mp4)” profile.
Regular DVD movies usually have several subtitles such as English, French, German, etc. You can select one you prefer. You can also delete the subtitle by selecting “No Subtitle”. Selecting Audio is the same. If you want to join all your DVD files into one video file, please select the option named “Merge into one file”. For more advanced setting, you can open the setting panel by clicking “Setting”.
    Step4. Start the conversion
After all things done, you can click the “Start” to begin the conversion; it will take about 30 minutes for converting a regular two hours DVD movie. When the conversion finished, click “find target” to located the converted video on your computer, connect your BlackBerry Storm to computer, and then copy the video to your BlackBerry memory card, that’s all. Then you can enjoy your favorites DVD movies on your BlackBerry Storm.
For converting video to BlackBerry Storm, you can click “Video to BlackBerry” to run the BlackBerry Movie Converter, the operation steps are similar to DVD to BlackBerry Converter, So I’m not repeat here. But I want to add some tips to the BlackBerry Movie Converter.
    1. The Video to BlackBerry Converter supports batch conversion, so you can add multiple video files at one time.
    2. The Video to BlackBerry Converter embeds powerful video editing functions, you can use it to cut video, trim video, crop video, and you can even add a watermark to the video.
    3. The Video to BlackBerry Converter can also help you convert video file to MP3, WMA, AAC, etc audio, so you can set it as your BlackBerry ringtone.

STOP.....WHAT DOES "HOW TO CONVERT DVD MOVIE AND SET THEM ON THE IPOD" HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS DISCUSSION FORUM?
    This is very simple:
THe 5G IPOD is designed to seamsleslly play video acquired from the ITUNES music store. What does that mean? It means that if you get the video from the Itunes music store it should work, and if it does not work, you then post the relevant question in the ITUNES discussion forum.
If you want to rip DVD's, by all means, search in websites like www.videohelp.com, or search in google. If you do not find the answer there, then search here.
This particular question has been ASKED countless times and the last time I checked the forum was called Using Your 5th Generation IPOD", not "How do I get XYZ type video to play on the IPOD" nor "How do I use ABC program to rip, convert, a DVD"?
Have you checked first the video specs of the video ipod? What formats, codecs, etc? before posting your question here?
Don't get me wrong, we are here to help, but it is a little bit irritating to see newcomers post questions without having searched for the answers first, specially on a topic that has been addressed so many times as this one

  • DVD ripper software recommendations for OS 10.4

Having a heck of a time trying to rip a dvd of a performance of mine, so there is no copyright issue here.  Tried Mac the Ripper, didn't work (kept quitting).  Also heard of Handbrake and DVD Ripper.  Can't seem to find a version that will run with OS 10.4.11.  These products are either unavailable or are updated and won't work on my Mac.  I've thought of upgrading to 10.5, but that's hard to find as well, and costs an arm and a leg through other people.  Apple doesn't seem to even have that as a basic download anymore.  HELP!  Any suggestions on what I can do to rip my DVD onto my hard drive so I can edit?

Please be aware that Fair Use, the doctrine that allows the back-up of your DVD/CDs for personal is not currently legally accepted in the UK and many countries outside of the US.
Hence, here it is illegal to copy DVD's to any format and circumventing the copy protection is a breach of the copyright owners rights.
Whilst I accept that copying is inevitable (you thieving bast*rds...!), please keep discussion away from any information about breaking DRM etc, as we will not allow the forums to be used for discussion of illegal activities.
Mac DVD Ripper is very good and is my primary ripper. I also have RipIt which is pretty good too. MDRP is often discounted to around $35 and has been worth it for me.
It seems well supported and is updated frequently. Nothing bad to say about RipIt, but it does have less options.
    Thanks.
