Dvd ripping to put home dvds onto ipod video

ok so i was told to use "decrypter" and so i went to google and typed it in and it came up with a few results
the first one was:
DVD Decrypter
so i click on that and this is what it says:
"This software is no longer available, this page is stored for archival puposes only.
On 24th of November, 2005, Macrovision Europe contacted AfterDawn.com, notifying us that they have acquired full rights to the DVD Decrypter software and have changed its licensing terms. Effective immediately, they have decided to withdraw all distribution rights from all third party companies, including AfterDawn.com. Thus, distributing DVD Decrypter is now as illegal as it would be to distribute cracked copies of Windows operating system or pirated copies of games."
ok so first off what does my trying to put dvds on my ipod have to do with pirated movies and games?
anyways
the second result was:
DVD Fab Decrypter
so i click on that and this is what it says:
"This software is no longer available, this page is stored for archival puposes only.
On 1st of January, 2006, a new copyright legislation came into force in Finland that made it illegal to distribute tools that allow circumvention of technical copy protections. The legislation was approved by Finnish parliament and was based on European Union Copyright Directive, a law that each EU member state has to implement to their national legislations"
So basically how the heck do i get dvds on my ipod using decrypter if it's now illegal to use it?

  • PQ DVD to ipod Video Converter

hi i have downloaded a free version of PQ DVD to iPod video converter and it seems ok and i was wanted to know if anyone else had it so that i could use the registry code to save me money. I would greatly appreciate this code
    thanks

Sounds to me like you're asking for someone else's purchased registration code.
Using one code for 2 copies of software is illegal.
    Purchase your own code.

  • DVDs onto iPod

There's got to be some software somewhere that allows you to download DVDs onto an iPod. Help?

Yes there is.. many different converters are able to do this task - here are my recommendations:
Hopefully in answer to the many posts on “how to get various video formats onto your iPod” I have put together a summary of applications I use. I have tried a few others with varying amounts of success (some of which are free) - I have finally plumped for the software produced by Xilisoft as providing good quality video relatively affordable cost for use withPC’s and numerous MS operating systems. The link below takes you to their site which not only allows you to download trail versions of their software but also has a comprehensive set of tutorials and FAQ's for their iPod video conversion software.
I have regularly used these applications to convert various file formats to iPod friendly video. They are simple to use although frequently processor and RAM hungry:
Use Xilisoft iPod Video Converter if you want to:
[*]Convert various video file formats to MP4
[*]Convert most audio file formats to MP3
[*]Extract audio from video file and save to MP3
    [*]Encode several files simultaneously
[*]Pause encoding process to run other CPU time consuming programs at any time
    Supported file formats:
    Video:
    [*]MPEG(mpg, mpeg, dat, vob); WMV; ASF; AVI; QuichTime(mov, qt); MPEG4(mp4); 3GP; DV(dv,
    dif); Real Video(rm); Animated GIF(gif - decoding only); Macromedia Flash(swf - decoding
    audio only);
    Audio:
[*]MPEG Audio(mp2, mp3); WMA; WAV; AU; MPEG4 Audio(m4a); Real Audio(ra); OGG; AAC; Raw
    AC3(ac3); NUT Open Container Format(nut);
To convert DVD's to an iPod friendly video format:
Use Xilisoft DVD to iPod V4:
[*]Just pop the DVD in your drive select compression variables (default settings work well) and sit back!
All these products are available on a "try before you buy basis", yes there are applications for XP which are free but and may work just as well but I have converted many hours of video for my iPod without hassle using the Xilisoft products (no I don't work for them!). Check there web site HERE

  • How to get a dvd onto a video iPod

i have downloaded a couple of softwares, but when i ty to open them, it says there is nothing to open to. Help!!!

    Hello,
what I can say is, that Handbrake workes absolutely fantastic, whether with self-made DVD's or standard ones.
Very simple, the only thing which went wrong the first time I used it is the picture size.
Ipod only accepts 320 times whatever the program says.
320 is the issue, you have to stick with that.
there is a good documentation at:
    http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/tutorials/dvd-to-ipod/index.shtml
After I've read that, it worked like a charm.

  • How to import dvds to ipod video

i have just learned that it is possible to import your own dvds and watch them on the ipod video. what 3rd party software do i need, and what are the steps i can take to accomplish this?
and also- how long is the battery life for the ipod video?
    thank you

try this. you could have found the same thing by typing your subject into the search instead of a post.
you'll get about 2.5 hrs of video play if you manage your battery well.
