DVD-RW or DVD-VIDEO NOT ACCEPTED

I have recorded DVD-RW either in VR or VIDEO mode on my Pioneer DVD player/recorder. I "finalized" them afterwards.
However they are still rejected by my iMac graphite DV 400Mhz.
I do not understand why these DVD (especailly when recorede in VIDEO mode) are rejected?
Could you help.
Thanks

I am quessing your iMac Graphite can not read RW media.
I would say if you burnt it on -Minus media your problem will go away.

  • PAL dvd Menu not accepting audio files

    I need some help!
I am converting an NTSC DVD to PAL.
My menu is a short video loop with audio. But I cannot seem to find an audio format that the menu will accept.
I tried to make a .wav and a .ac3 audio file so far but neither is working.
I have .m2v and .ac3 files in my Timelines and they all play their audio.
    How is the Menu different?
    Any suggestions?
    W

Sorry about this but more information is needed here.
1 - What is your OS and system spec?
2 - How are you doing the conversion from NTSC to PAL?
3 - Are you sure that the frame rates match?
4 - Is either the menu M2V file or the menu AC3 file carrying a different frame rate - they should both be the same - 29.97 drop frame or non-drop (drop frame is more usual but as long as both match it should be okay)

  • DVD video not playing

I tried playing a dvd and the audio works, but the video doesn't. I then tried another dvd and got the same thing. I know some dvds aren't compatible on macs, but the chance of two dvds not working seems odd. Any ideas?

are these legit dvd's from the store or burnt DVD's? also try running a lens cleaner thru the system

  • DVD -R not accepted in slot load- HELP PLEASE

I am trying to burn an iMovie onto a DVD. I put a Memorex DVD -R into the slot load drive and it powers up and then spits it back out. I am able to burn CDs but have not yet tried to play a real DVD movie. PLEASE help. Is this a hardware problem or am I putting in the wrong type of DVD to burn? Thanks.

As long as your PB is equipped with a Superdrive and not with a Combodrive DVD -R media are th correct choice.
    You might want to check:
Your Drive's capabilities through System Profiler.
If burned/pressed DVDs are also refused.
Try another brand like Apple or Verbatim.

  • Dvd drive not accepting dvd

DVDS not being acepted although cd's are fine?
    any suggestions?

An update for anyone reading this with a similar problem...
I started having issues with my display directly after the Super drive issue, and found out that my iMac had a faulty Motherboard, and had to be replaced. Luckily it was covered by apple under an iMac extended warranty program. If you are experiencing these symptoms it could be a sign of something bigger going bad, and you may want to check out the extension program page. you can find it in the general iMac support page on the bottom right side. Hope this helps - Andy

I bought a dvd and when i introduce it in to my computer ,it tells me is a blank dvd. I exchanged it in the store and i had the same problem

    Are now DVds computer proof?
    Thanks.

    Mafelona, welcome to the discussions.
Shut your computer clear off, wait a minute and then restart your computer and go to Mac HD and click and open then go to Applications and click and open it and then scroll down to DVD Player, click on it and when the black screen opens put the DVD in and don't touch anything and your DVD should start playing.....Tell us how you do...Don

  • Blank DVD-R not accepted by iMac

Each time I put in a blank DVD-R I hear the drive churning away for about 45 seconds and then it spits it out. No dialog box or nothing to indicate the reason. Here's the hardware info for this machine:
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06A:
    Firmware Revision: Q624
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2000 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media: To show the available burn speeds, insert a disc and choose View > Refresh
I don't have a problem with inserting recorded DVDs or disks containing software (Snow Leopard Disk, etc.) I've tried a couple different DVD-Rs with no difference. I've tried deleting the iDVD preference files (since I'm trying to burn a project to DVD), restarted numerous times, repaired permissions, etc.
Any advice on what's going wrong???
    Regards,
    Patrick

I think I found an answer that solved this problem. I'll post it for others who might be having the same issue - it involve zapping the PRAM and NVRAM, which I used to have to do a long time back, but hadn't done for quite a while. • Videos not accepting images as icons. What should I do?

I am trying to set an image as the icon for a video file. However, instead of getting the image, I simply get a generic "JPG" placeholder icon.
    What should I do?

Exactly how are you trying to do this?
One technique that should work is to open the image in Preview, Select All (A) in Preview, copy (C) to place the selection in the clipboard.  Then in the finder do a Get Info on the document or folder you want to set, click the icon in the Get Info winow at the top, and paste the copied image that you copied to the clipboard from Preview (V).

Hi  can any body please tell me how to open the .exe files in mac and why it is not supported with unarchiever app , also i am not able to run and dvd's in my mac its not accepting any cd's or dvd'd why? do i need to do some pre defined  settings to run the cd's and dvd's ?

A .exe file is a Windows executable. OS X does not run Windows programs. If you need to use .exe files then you will need to install Windows on your Mac:
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

I just bought a new mac mini and an external DVD burner. I want to burn a DVD video and it will not play on the TV but only on the computer? Need this figured out for tomorrow. Can anyone help me?

Congratulations on the new Mini. Are you saying you tried burning and it does not play, or do you want to burn it only for the computer to be able to play it?
OS X Mountain Lion: Burn a CD or DVD may help.

  • TV not displaying DVD video from Macbook but showing slideshow instead

Connecting new MacbookPro to new LCD TV with newly purchased cables as follows: miniDVI to DVI converter connected to mini DVI port on Macbook and to DVI/HDMI cable which is connected into HDMI port on TV. Audio connected via standard one to two audio cable. When playing DVD on macbook the audio comes through on TV ok but the TV screen is showing a slideshow of photos from the macbook rather than the DVD video. Settings on TV are all as specified in TV manual - the issue is clearly what is being transmitted through the macbook's mini DVI port. Wierd thing is that no application appears to be running on macbook to play photos as a slideshow - there must be some background task or service running but, not being familiar with mac operating systems i don't know how to check for this. does anyone know what is going on? Are there some settings i need to tweak on the macbook?

It may be an instance of this:

There are a few threads talking about the poor quality iMovie produces when your footage is an interlaced format (e.g., DV, HDV).
    Search around for "quality".

How do I solve this to burn a simple dvd?! The mp4 file I want to burn is sitting in a folder on my desk top. I have made sure it's PAL. Does it need to be in the same folder as the edit project for example?!
    Cheers

All the comments about files that are not of the DVD-Video are normal. Those are files that DVDSP creates and are simply ignored in the burning.
The last line is the key one. It seems either your disc was bad or your recording device is having problems.
Try with a another new disc.
fwiw - certain brands were known to have issues. It's been a while since I've built a DVD but I remember always using Taiyo Yuden and had very few coasters from bad discs.
