DVD's are slow to load up

How long should a DVD take to load up and start playing?
Mine seem to take about 60 minutes. It feels like forever.
I don't remeber it taking so long.
Has something changed?
(The same is true on Macpro.
DVD's take a really long time to cue up.)

For mine it takes about a minute and a half at most. I guess that would depend on your computer's speed, specs, etc.

  • Pages are slow to load or stop loading

Once I'm connected to wi-fi, my pages are slow to load or stop loading and tell me 'I'm not connected".

If you are having the problem on more than one computer it would appear not to be a computer fault or your browser that is the problem.
The first thing I would do is a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds. This can often sort out problems and will also give you a "clean sheet" to start some diagnostics from.
If this doesn't help please post what Infinity package you are on, I assume with 18Mbps it's Infinity 1 but please confirm, and do you have an Openreach modem and what homehub you have.
Also run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results
    http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome
and use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

  • Contacts are slow to load and scroll, 5 second delay or longer!

Contacts are slow to load and scroll, 5 second delay or longer! Im very frustrated with my iphone 3g! Contacts are so slow I cant believe it. Also the time it takes to go from contacts to the home screen is slow. Whats the fix? HELP~!

I've also seen the delay - ever since I got my 3G phone. Update 2.0.1 was said to help this, but I think it's more affected by apps on the system, and how often you turn the phone off. Still not enough to really bother me, but wish it was faster. Hopefully another update will help. I'm sure it doesn't help that I have 2 different email accounts (1 is pretty big, lots of data ) and the fact I have almost 1000 contacts in mine.

  • Reports that are slow to load

I am adding a report in my project at the vb.net 2005 but they are slow to load. What is the best way to do this task to be loaded into faster?.
I am using the Crystal Report version 2008 with Visual Studio.Net 2005 in a Windows application.
The evidence I have done so much in development environment as user stations, in both situations the burden of reporting slow.
I am adding the reports through a Crystal Report Viewer
Very thanks and greetings from Costa Rica.

Look at where and as I put the code Ludek
    Private Sub Frm_Reporte1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
            Dim Reporte As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument()
            Reporte.Load("
    glauco\Reportes\Ventas 08\Vta - Sugerido Pedidos.rpt")
        End Sub
However, the form still takes 6 seconds to load and reporting over 2 seconds.
I said, I'm only using a CrystalReportViewer in which I have directed the report from the server by selecting Properties from the menu ReporSource of CrystalReportViewer.
Do not know if this will have something to do. Honestly, I have worried about this situation because I have everything ready to take the project as soon as possible.
    Again, thank you very helpful.

  • Videos are SLOW to load

I just downloaded the most recent version of safari (beta 3) and videos posted on websites are still EXTREMELY slow to load. Are there any updates that would help make the videos load quicker or is it caused by limited space on the hard drive? Any comments/answers would be helpful. Thanks!
    E

Were you able to confirm any suspicions the browser could be at fault
(or not) by trying to download the same video content through a different
browser with current proper plugins, and etc?
The speed of the internet connection is among prime things to confirm
and consider when awaiting slow internet content downloads. Also, all
system performance can be affected by insufficient hard drive freespace
or flex-space for the applications and for use as virtual memory.
The actual download speed of a file may vary through a combination of
several influences or conditions within and from without the computer.

  • Web pages are slow to load

I have a pretty good but basic understanding of web site
management but have discovered during testing that some of my sites
are pretty slow to respond. I understand how to set image densities
to 72ppi for monitor display and have been pretty consciencous
about that, but I'm finding that certain sites I have built are
still slow in spite of my best efforts.
Obviously there are some techniques I could use a little
    education on.
Without getting too exotic, are there some simple, common
practices designers use to help the load speed of web pages?
I'm using simple html (no dynamics) and are just dealing with
    text and images.
If you need to see an example, this site's homepage sometimes
can take a bit to load. I did say "sometimes" so obviously not all
the loading issues are design related. PLEASE note this is a PG-13
site (no porn or anything too bad; just adult humor and comment).

That particular page is 257K. As such, it will take about 60
    seconds to
completely load when accessed on a 56k dialup connection.
    There is no magic
about this effort to minimize this loading time -
    1. Use as few images as you can
    2. Those images that you use should be no larger
    (dimensionally) than the
smallest you can get away with to deliver the look/message
    3. Those images that you use should be optimized (by reducing
    their
quality) until they are almost unacceptable
That is about all you can do.

  • Web pages are slow to load up.

I am having trouble loading up web pages, they do eventually load but its very slow. I wan't to delete unwanted/ junk files how do i do this

The first thing you should do is check your internet connection, try it out here:
    http://www.speedtest.net
One important thing to note is to ignore the ads at ALL COSTS, that mac clean thing is NOT something you want
If your results are 5mbs or less, I would say its your internet connection to check.
Secondly, use an up to date browser such as chrome or safari. If you have any exemptions, turn them off.
Those are some tips I have, I have no clue how to remove junk files to speed up your browsing experience.
    Hope this helped

  • Websites are slow to load and then they become unresponsive

Websites take a very long time to load up and then if I try to close a site or go back a page, the whole thing becomes unresponsive and I have had to turn off my computer.

since the new update to Firefix 4... my own website is very slow. The smiley actions appear in slow motion and when i update a page... it takes ages to save. I think this is a pitty because now i have to use a other progam to work on the site aswell i hae to recommend other programs now to the members (4600 users and growing) I like FF bery much... so i hope this will resolve soon.

  • Since upgrading to FF 8, tabs are slow to load website if not at all. I have to usually click on reload tab to get site to load

Since upgrading to FF 8 tabs will not load websites fast if at all. To get the site to load, I usually have to click reload tab.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.
Try to decrease the value of the pref <b>network.http.max-connections</b> from 256 to 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

  • Emails From a Few People are Large and Are Slow to Load

We have three or four people who, when they send a normal, text only email on our Microsoft Exchange server using Outlook 2013, it results in an email
that is around 200 KB and takes much longer than usual to load.  This has been going on for several months.  It only affects these few people, but at least one more person has started exhibiting the problem since we noticed it.

    Hi,
Based on your description, the size of emails from these affected users you mentioned increased.
Please check if they use customized organizational forms when sending emails.
Please check if the issue persists when they send email using OWA.
Please check if there is any transport rule against these users in Exchange server.

  • HT4623 I have just updated my iphone 4 to OS 6.0, but since then I have been unable to access my emails, also facebook and ebay apps are slow to load

I have just updated my iphone 4 to OS 6.0, but since then I can't access my emails as when trying to open a particular email I am presented with a blank screen. Other apps such as facebook and ebay take an absolute age to open.
Is anyone else having problems? what can I do to put it right?

I am having this problem.  At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2.  I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps.  I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them.  The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage.  It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup.  With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up.  The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete.  This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

  • Facebook videos and pictures are slow to load

I am reading in the forums this is a common issue right now. I have done the change to IVP6 off and cleared caches. This is still there. From reading people on this forum this is a uverse system issue. If I access from a non-uverse connection there is no problem. please help

Same issue. When I called in I was made to sound stupid and that it was facebooks fault. Common call center crap to get you off the phone, it was probably one of there many outsourced centers. This is a real problem though that looks to be ignored.

  • Since installing Firefox 24 for OS X, pages on the Pinterest site are slow to load and often stalll and freeze.

I am seeing normal behavior with Chrome and Safari. I have disabled Firefox add-ons to no avail. To be candid, I thought I might find that several Firefox users were having problems with Pinterest.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Command+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • IWeb sites are slow to upload. text columns turn to heavy png files

    Hi!
Yes I've noticed that iweb sites for some odd reason are slower to load on any browser. No matter what the hosting is. I use Me.com for a few years and iWeb as I don't have the time or patience to bother with Dreamweaver. I use Me.com for hosting as well as another web hosting server. If there is graphic material on the page, it takes so long to open. Apple must do something about it for sure.
The program iWeb itself doesn't open up fast enough if you have more than 3 pages on it (which any normal site would have). I'm glad Apple made good changes in iWeb09, but it needs to do something about the speed of the program, the sites it makes and how it processes simple matter on it.
Even though, I have come across some good examples of iWeb made sites that are easy and relatively faster to open or they open at a normal speed. The authors also have used flash material on their iWeb sites. I have a non-registered program (web site Maestro) that claims to ease up and streamline the graphic and other heavy content on a iWeb site to make it lighter with loading.
But the unregistered version works on 70 percent files only. And I don't really notice any difference with it either. So I'm doubtful of buying the full version.
Any thoughts? Solutions? Would really appreciate.
ANOTHER ISSUE that I have discovered while making iWeb site is that a text column put on a shape after publishing turns into a heavy PNG picture file that can weight almost upto 1 whole megabyte!!!
And you keep wondering why the darn page is so slow to open!!! Cuz a simple text could've been just about 50kb. But it turns into a 900kb picture in png!!! Is there a way to change this?? I guess, taking out the picture from the published site folder and reediting it in - say - Photoshop reducing its size may help. But its so cumbersome and arduous to go into every darn folder and open all the text now converted into pics and re-edit them!! And then their reduced quality will make the text look feeble and bad quality too.
This is a problem that APPLE iWEB experts Must work on. iWeb gives a certain flexibility as its like a free flowing canvas. But then its also a known fact that iWeb sites are exceptionally heavier to open, unless you know many other tweaks here and there to make it work right. But again, this is contrary to the purpose of iWeb, cuz its made for amateur site makers.
I wish there is a work around this thing really.
ANY SUGGESTIONS FRIENDS?? WOULD LOVE TO HEAR. PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND SOLUTIONS.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Nitesh

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Shapes by their very nature are graphic elements that end up a png file whether there's text in them or not. You should try adding the text in a text box above the shape and see if there's any difference. Just be sure to use a Web Safe Font and not add any enhancements that will turn it into a image file:
You may not notice a difference with loading with WSM but those with Internet Explorer should. Have you tested your site with and without WSM on a PC?
In WSM you can set the amount of optimizing for graphics. I've set it at about 60% (moderate) and haven't tested other settings for image quality. I'm sure a lower quality level, i.e. more compression, will have a impact on file loading. I just don't have a feel for the greatest amount of compression that will still have acceptable image quality. You'll just have to experiment.
If your site is a commercial site then using a commercial hosting server is the best option. Also, it's reported that using a Text Based Navbar instead of iWeb's java based one will help dark side compatibility.
Be sure to put in feature requests for the improvements that you see necessary to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html.

  • PDFs slow to load in iBooks

PDFs, especially PDFs with lots of graphics, are slow to load in iBooks.  I have to open the PDF and wait for all pages to load before I can continue on.  I've saved it as an optimized PDF, but that did not work.  Any suggestions?

I am also having trouble with large pdf files ie. architectural plans. My problem is using in PDF Expert. Very slow. I have contacted PDF Expert support and they tell me they are using the system for rendering pdf's and it has been a problem since iOS5. This is a problem Apple needs to fix.
