Had to reinstall my system and now software doesn't work
Hi, my powerbook recently died or something, so that whenever I switched it on some code would show up. Well I reinstalled mac os x, and I'm able to get back on. But lots of the software doesn't work. That includes itunes, safari, firefox, garageband, and all my photos that I had in iphoto are gone. Some told me to reinstall those programs or update them from apple's website, but the only browser on my computer that works is internet explorer, and it won't finish loading the pages to instal safari or itunes. So I can never get to them. I tried firefox, but once I download the image and try to mount it, it says failure and corrupt image.
I also can't even get on to some other websites, like hotmail.com, so I can't even check my email for some reason.
I'm kind of at a loss here for how to get back my old photos, use my old programs and basically do anything on this laptop. I tried using software update to update mac os x to 10.3.9, but that didn't change anything.
By the way, I don't have internet at home so I've been going online at starbux to do this stuff. I appreciate any help someone can give me.

The applications are there, they just won't open. Someone told me would lose my preferences and just had to update them again, but I can't do so cause safari doesn't work and internet explorer won't let me get on certain sites...

The 802.11n enabler software doesn't work on my Intel iMac even though it should according to the Apple site info. I get a message that says
"Your computer does not meet the hardware requirements for this update."
Anybody know what gives?Use the information in this article to determine which model of iMac you have; the AirPort Extreme 802.11n enabler requires a Core 2 Duo processor, and isn't compatible with Core Duo iMacs or the 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo model.

[T410s] Lenovo Software doesn't work for me

The following software is installed on my system: Office Prof. Plus 2010 (64bit), SQL Server 2008 R2 (64bit), Visual Studio Ultimate 2010, Sybase Powerdesigner 15.2, Adobe Reader 9 and Kaspersky IS 2011.
Since some days nearly the whole Lenovo Software doesn't work. The only exception is System Update 4.
When I try to start e.g. Lenovo Toolbox I get the error message "ThinkVantage Toolbox doesn't work...". A View into the Windows solution center offers the following message:

The rest of the software mentioned above works great and fast. Only the Lenovo software doesn't work. This is rather annoying, because I can't change e.g. important property values in the power manager.
I've deinstalled and installed (manually) again graphics driver as well as the troubleshooting software without success.
What shell I do now?

You found me! Thanks for the logs. They confirmed what I was suspecting: a font problem is causing any application built on Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) to crash. Based on our research there are two potential issues. The fixes are pretty easy.
One or more of your installed fonts does not have a proper date/time
The Registry may have some invalid font path entries
To Detect and Fix the Font Invalid/Missing Date Problem
Open an elevated command prompt (CMD.EXE) and navigate to C:\Windows\Fonts\
Save a font listing to your desktop with the command: DIR *.* /tw /od > %USERPROFILE%\desktop\fontlist.txt
3. Open fontlist.txt with notepad.
4. Remove any fonts with a missing or invalid date (January 1, 1601 for example). Easiest way to do this is by opening Windows Explorer, going to the fonts folder (C:\Windows\Fonts\), and removing the offending fonts.
5. Open LTT or one of the other TVTs to see if the problem is solved. If not, continue with the next section.
To Detect and Fix the Font Registry Problem
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. I cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk!
Open the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE)
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts
Scan the "Data" column for each font looking for any illegal path characters

After I have upgraded to the new iOS 6.1.2, the email software doesn't work and is not downloading. While before it was working fine.
How to fix this?There seems to be massive amounts of problems with every aspect of iOS 6. From what I understand all you can do is try and reset your device and pray that Apple bequeaths working software next time or allows users to revert to iOS 5 while they search for someone who knows what they are doing. Perhaps you will need to use an alternate email app until then? (Although, Gmail seems to be the only one that works properly)

I'm a teacher at the Hague University in the Netherlands and I also bought the Adobe CS6 Master Collection, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Captivate 6 and it worked nice when I installed it in December 2012. But this morning all my Adobe software doesn't function anymore, I get the message that it is a trial version and it will only work for 30 days. This whole morning I am busy to get the software back to work, but also when I reinstall it and type the proper activation keys which also can be found in my Adobe-account, it says that the serials are invalid. Could I please get some support to solve this problem?

As a teacher at a high school I experience the same problem. The problem is caused by a new licencing policy Adobe forced into place with CS6 products. The licenses you have are only valid for one year. Moreover they are actually valid for less than one year, since projects in Captivate created in the trial version mode you describe will have an expiration date. This will, in the very near future, result in non functioning projects/packages. The only way to overcome this problem is to renew your license, and republish the projects in the newly licensed product.
I can understand that Adobe wants to get more revenue out of their products. I however do not understand that a license, said to be valid for one year, will not provide a workable solution throughout this full year. A very strange policy indeed!

If it's happening on all the apps that you've downloaded from the App Store, but not the Apple built-in ones, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.
If it's happening on all apps including Apple's then try closing them all completely and see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
Nokia's PC software doesn't work!
I'm having some serious issues with Nokia's PC connectivity software.
PC Suite first of all - for the most part is fine, but what I want the most - the Nokia Software Updater - won't work. I get one of two messages:-
'Configuration Error' - I've tried everything I've seen suggested on this and other sites, to no avail. Or I get a message saying one or more software components has stopped responding and I need to reboot my PC - I try this and still get one of these error messages.
So, I've uninstalled PC Suite, and used the PC Suite Cleanup tool to remove everything, I rebooted my PC and installed Ovi Suite. And what a load of trash that is.
Again, it's one of two error messages I get. I either get a very non-specific 'internal error' message , or I get the Windows 'Nokia Ovi Suite 2 has stopped working.......' message.
This sucks, big time. All I want to do is update my E71's firmware!
This better improve pretty damned quick, as I've just commited myself to another 18 months with another Nokia handset (against my better judgement) and my X6 arrives tomorrow.Thanks for the replies people, but it's all a moot point now as the X6 I upgraded onto with my network provider decided to die on me after less than two days.
As a result, I've ditched the X6 and am getting a phone of a different make and model altogether, thanks in part to the understanding of 3 UK - there was no way I was taking a chance on another X6 when the first one died after such a short space of time.
I would say that I uninstalled PC Suite and used the cleanup utility before reinstalling Ovi Suite, and still found that it didn't work.
I may bear this all in mind as I still have my E71 in good working condition, but I fully intend for my new phone to be my primary handset with the E71 as a backup in case of any problems. I do have to say though that my experiences with Nokia's PC software has made me very frustrated, and the issue with the X6 has made matters worse. I don't think I'll get another Nokia handset in future, unless serious changes are made.
PC software which just works would be a good start. I wouldn't like to say how long I've spent trying to get it to work as it should, but it is a stupidly long time. I've never had this issue with the software supplied by Sony Ericsson or LG. Secondly, Symbian either needs to be improved or ditched - it's slow and buggy, and being left behind by much newer OS's, such as Android. -

Another frustrated AIO user here, Our LaserJet 3050 is a decent printer and an Ok stand alone Fax machine, but the scanning software hasn't worked for a long time and the Toolbox FX software has never worked. There hasn't been a significant update to the software since the Fall of '07, like 3 mos. after we purchased the machine. I can't use the scan buttons on the machine even though I've installed the full software package. The only scanner that works is the native windows one, which slows us down at work. My laptop is an HP pavilion dv8408us and it's had it's share of difficulties as well. How about broadcasting a fix for this stuff? HP should devote more time and energy into making sure things work in the first place? Nice website front page, though.error message
