How can I copy my DVD's To my Ipod? I have read quite a few postings and my head is spinning?

well thank you for reading adn doing some searching.Luckily for mac users the process isnt as cumbersome adn troublesome for windows users. I have always used this software to convert my dvds to be played on the ipod and have had no troubles and no errors. here is the website for the software adn related info about it and a website on how to convert a DVD using this software.

  • How to put movies on a ipod video (mac computer)

Hi everyone i am new to the wonderful wold of mac's and ipods. I just picked one up yesterday and would like to put my own movies on it. I did a quick search but it looks like most people are using pc for there ipod. Can someone give me detailed instructions on putting a dvd onto my ipod using a mac.

Well let me give you an example i used handbrake last night to take the movie "Full Metal Jacket" and put it onto my ipod. I changed a couple of settings on handbrake and i just want to know if they are what i should of changed. I changed the screen resolution to 320x240 and the bitrate kbps to 750. Than i tried to play the movie but my it said quicktime could not read the file, or something to that effect. I than put it into my itunes library and hit the button to convert for ipod...only took a min or 2 to convert it, and than it went onto my ipod with out a problem. but the file size if i remember correctly the file size was almost 699mb. That is kind of large. Just in comparison, i never use limewire but i wanted to check it out so i downloaded stewie griffin: the untold story. It was on there already in mpeg 4 format for the ipod and that movie is like an hour and a half long and the file size was only 196mb, and it sounds and looks great...can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong...
    Thanks

I addition to running less concurrent processes or installing more RAM as Kappy mentioned.
I also see that you have less than 10% of free space left on your HDD.

  • Is there a way to transfer DVDs to itunes/ipod?

im trying to transfer my Michael Jackson's Visions dvd to my ipod touch. i know you can buy it in itunes, but i don't want to rebuy the movie just so it can be put on my ipod touch. i wanted to see if the imovies app would work but it seems to just be for mac.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • How do I get a DVD to my Ipod?

I am trying to take a purchased DVD and put it on my Ipod Video. I was told at the store I purchased it at, that this was possible.
Hooked my DVD player up to a video bridge via Firewire so I could play it and "record" in my QT7 Pro. Well, I have since found out that the "record" feature isn't available in the windows version -- only mac. I am at a loss.
What format does the video have to be in to be able to pull it up and export it for the Ipod?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
    pc   Windows XP

Legally, you can't get a DVD onto your iPod because all movies are copyright protected. The only way to get that movie on your iPod is to purchase it on iTunes. Most movies on iTunes are around $10. And iTunes is unable to copy DVD movies because Apple knows that copying DVD movies is illegal. Although there is DVD copying software that you can use at your own risk, although such software does have its limitations because the copyright protection that's built-in to DVD's is getting better all the time. For example, if you use the program Handbreak to copy a movie that you rented from RedBox the copy you made will be choppy and out of order. Also, movie studios are working to get that software outlawed because they are losing money. And that software is why you can't return a DVD back to the store. So, you're stuck unless you don't mind buying movies and TV shows from iTunes. iTunes content is better than DVDs because you can copy it to hard drives and flash drives for backup and it won't get fingerprints and scratches on it like DVDs, which is why Apple is moving away from optical discs;for example iTunes and the Mac App Store.

  • Import dvd movie to ipod

    Hi
Is t possible to import a dvd movie into ipod? If so, how?
    Regards
    DS

Yes, it is possible. The basic process is to convert the movie from the MPEG-2 format of a DVD to a format the iPod supports, typically a variant of the MPEG-4 standard known as H.264, & add it to your iTunes library. This will require significant processing power & time, especially if you want the best compromise of quality & compression. With a G4 Mac, expect the process to take quite a few hours per hour of content converted.
Several applications will do the conversion. Many include presets for iPod-friendly "one button" conversions that do not require any knowledge of which formats the iPod will support.
HOWEVER, note that the legality of copying ("ripping") almost all commercial DVD releases to other media for any purpose is questionable at best, & certainly so if you do not own the DVD or have specific permission or a clear legal right to do so. This is not the place to discuss the nuances of the Fair Use principle or the implications of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, so all I will say about it here is respect the property rights of others just as you would want them to respect yours & don't steal movies.

  • Lords Of Dogtown conversion DVD to video ipod

I am currently using Cucusofts conversion software to convert my DVDs to my video ipod. (From what I understand Cucusoft is almost identical to Videora). I have put three files of DVDs on my ipod successfully, but am having a bit of a problem with the fourth-and I don't believe that it's the software.
I am concerned that the DVD Lords of Dogtown has some type of encryption that is unrecognizeable...has anybody else had a similar problem? I have also had problems making a backup DVD of the same film - which doesn't usually happen.
    Please help if you can!
    Thanks!

    You have a few alternatives.

  • How do I find iPod's MAC and the encryption level used to login?

I have a wireless network with WEP security Wireless Encryption Level 128 bit and also Wireless Network Access activated.
I need to add the MAC of the iPod. How do you get the iPod's MAC?
Also how do I know iPod is using 128 bits instead 64bits in the encryption level?
    Does anybody know this?
I cannot connect to the network I disabled the Wireless Network Access and still cannot login, the password is correct and I am thinking that the iPod is using 64 bit with WEP which is totally useless when you have a network already configured.
    I will appreciate your help.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    You'll find the +iPod touch's+ MAC address in Settings > General > About > Wi-Fi Address.
The +iPod touch+ will use 128/40bit WEP depending on what you have the router set to.
Are you entering the password in the correct case? You may need to put $ infront of your password.
