DVD SP Only burns HVDVD_TS

I know this has been asked before and I have read and tried all the solutions to the best of my ability, but the end product always comes out the same.
I have gone into my DVD SP preferences and under the project menu made sure the "DVD Standard" was set at "SD DVD"
I have also made sure the "Inspector" shows the "DVD Standard" set at "SD DVD" when the "Disc" in the "Outline" menu is selected.
Am I missing a step that may have been skipped over?
Please HELP!!!

SoCal thank you for your response!
I was completely starting a new project. I was also closing the program out and clearing the caches in my library. I did that between 7-8 times.
I finally tried it again and I did nothing different, but it made a SD DVD.
However I ran into another problem because I was told my video bitrate was too high.
I tried to to lower the bitrate in DVD SP preferences several times closing the project clearing the caches again, but it wouldn't work. I then gave in and went back into Compressor and exported the video again at a lower bit rate... It worked!!!!
However the video quality was very poor the reds are overwhelming in the skin tones and the highlights are distorted. The exact same problem I ran into try to burn using Toast.
So I have gone back into Compressor and exporting the video again at a higher bitrate and I also went further in the options and decreased the reds in the highlights, mids, and shadows and decreased the contrast. Something I certainly didn't want to do after spending so much time color correcting in Color and blindly making those adjustments...
Is there a better way?
The HVDVD_TS files looked great! I could play them on my laptop and screened it on my TV and it looked great!
How can I get this to work for me?!?! I have spent over 3 days now exporting and trouble shooting with DVD SP.
Little more information:
I am exporting a movie that was shot in DVCPRO HD 720p24n
Edited: Final Cut Pro 6.0.6
Color Correction: Color
Audio Mix: Pro Tools
Exporting: Compressor ("DVD Best Quality 90min" MPEG-2 and the audio as a AIFF 48khz 24bit) bitrate was set at 5mbps and max at 5.6mbps. I'm now exporting it with a bitrate of 5.6mbps with a max of 6mbps. (because I don't know how high I can go and don't want too move up too fast and have a worthless export that tells me the rate is too high)
Burning: DVD SP (SD DVD and no menu with auto play)
Thank you for any help!

  • DVD Studio Pro Burning HVDVD_TS File Disk

I have been having trouble burning a HD DVD from DVD Studio Pro. It continues to burn a data disk with the HVDVD_TS files instead of a DVD with a menu to play in a DVD player. What am I doing wrong?

Don't do this. Why? Because HD DVD lost out to BluRay in the high def DVD wars (like Betamax lost to VHS back in the day).  The only devices that will play those DVDs are Toshiba HD DVD players that have been discontinued for about 4 years. And Macs with Superdrives. That's it.  Regular DVD players won't play them, BluRay players won't play them.
If you want high def DVDs, you're going to have to invest in a BluRay burner, and software that will author BluRay disks, like Toast.  Compressor will author BluRay, to regular DVDs no less (so I hear), but they have to be under 10 min.  And then those will only work in BluRay players.

  • 16x DVD media only burns at 2X

I'm having a problem with my eMac and 16x Memorex media. It burns the 8x Memorex at 4x and now it's burning the 16x media at 2x. Is there some sort of firmware update or software update that can allow it to burn this media at 8x? The superdrive in my eMac is supposed to support 8x burning. I'm using Toast Titanium 6 to burn. Would Toast 7 make any difference?
This is going to be a growing problem, because I can't find 8x media anymore, my local store has upgraded everything to 16x media.

Mike, all the major manufactures boast that there Media is Backward compatible..
There have been several reports similar to yours.
It appears that it is a 3 fold problem
    Hardware..
    Software..
    Media..
If you search through the DVD posts you will see several complaints about this very issue...Cheers...Don

  • Encore CS5 will Only Burn One DVD At A Time

Hello All , I am having a problem that I didn't have with CS4 ,If I set CS5 to burn more than one DVD it shows a hardware error after the first one , If I set CS5 to burn one DVD it works every time I only burn at 8X .This is not a major problem because it doesn't take much longer to burn them one at a time
but it would be nice to know why .
    Regards
    Kevin

Thank's for your suggestion but I have always set CS4 to burn say 10 DVDs and just change the media when prompted (only 10 days ago) in CS5 this doesn't work only the first one will burn , I am sure there is nothing wrong with my hardware is works flawlessly with all other software.

  • Burn a CD or DVD for only one user!

    Hi,
How can I burn a CD or DVD that only my user can read?
I go to backup my personal informations and want to sure that no other people have access to this CD.
I use the Toast Titanium 7.1.2, but if other software can do this, I can buy it!
    Thanks to all!

    Hi,
Thanks to all. But now, I see some thing that make this idea of a disk image, not good. Lets say, that I burn a DVD with a disk image inside the DVD. If I get, just a little risk on de DVD, I lost all the informations. If I dont use a disk image, I lost only the information, in that little risk. And because I go use this as a backup, this problem with security is a problem.
So, if somebody know another way, to burn a DVD, that only my user have access, please, let me know.
    Thanks

  • IMac DVD Burner only burns on Apple Brand blank DVDs

    Hello,
I have an iMac G4 Dome and just last week it stopped burning DVDs on any brand outside of Apple Blank DVDs. The CD burner works fine, it's just the DVD burner. Can anybody help?

maybe you just accidentally bought your first batch of DVD+R.
The burner in that machine can only burn DVD-R
THis is confusing to a lot of people. We're all so used to seeing CD-R, that we just assume DVD-R has a similar meaning.
The breakdown is something like this.
CD-R = Compact Disc (dash) Recordable
    DVD-R = DVD minus Recordable
    DVD+R= DVD plus Recordable.
I know it's dopey, but that's probably what's happening. The early superdrive, though actually ABLE TO DO IT, has the firmware blocking any DVD+R media, largely because Apple knew that +R media will not play in a lot of consumer decks, and didn't want to field the questions and irate calls (i.e. My iMovie and iDVD project wont play in my cousin's DVD player??!!!_
Anyhow, i suspect you just bought your first DVD+R media, and it just wont work.

  • Why does Finder only burn DVD's at 2x?

I have a MacBook Pro with a 8x Superdrive. How come when I try to burn a data dump onto DVD from the finder, the only option I have is 2x? I can't even go lower to 1x let alone the advertised speed of 4x.
here are the specs of the drive:
    Maximum write:
    DVD-R and DVD+R: 8x
    DVD-RW and DVD+RW: 4x
    DVD+R (double layer): 2.4
    CD-R: 24x
    CD-RW: 16x

When you try burning the DVD from a burn folder from the Burn Options dialog (pops up after you click burn) do you choose your speed? Is the option there?

  • HELP! MacBook Pro cant recognise or burn DVDs but only CDs, and...

    Hi all
I noticed that there many of you have the same problem, but I really need some advice here, my MacBook Pro cant recognise or burn DVDs but only CDs, well actually occasionally it does recognise the DVDs then it burn but cannot write (on Toast), also in many other apps, like iDVD or DVDSP, it does run well on the first part of the burning but then failed at the end, with all kinda diff error msg. I have tried using many diff brands of disc too, inc verbatim.
So I borrowed my friends external DVD writer (actually a cheapy one with no brand), when I tried to burn using the external then an error msg comes up and says the writer cannot recognise the disc.
I dont wana get the MBP to repair but just wana get a external DVD writer to solve the problem, cos i need to use my computer and dont have a replacement mac, but now I am worry if the problem i now having is a system problem or just hardware, not sure if it is because the DVD writer i borrow is cheapy so it doesnt cope with mac, or just my MBP have system error that cant burn DVDs...
But my MBP can burn CDs so it is not a hardware problem? and if that is a system problem so even I buy a new DVD writer wont solve the problem?
btw, I have tried many solving methods like rewriting permission, reset PVRAM, etc
    PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HELP

I'm having the same problem you are on my 2.4GHZ Core2Duo MBP running 10.5.2. It will sometimes recognize DVDs, sometimes not... it chuggs and clunks and then spits the disc out. If i re-insert it a view times it will show up on the desktop. I get failures from Toast as well as iDVD. If i keep trying i have been able to burn files onto a disc with the finder, but then the burner fails during the verification. If put the disc back in the contents appear to be correct (after a quick look). Burning CD-Rs seems to be working fine, that with the occasional DVD write seems to point away from the HW. I am trying with both Memorex DVD+RW and Verbatim DVD-Rs...
I have tried the command/option-PR reset combo with no luck.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    -graham
PS the specific error i got from iDVD was: The error #-2147352539 was reported…

  • Burner will only burn DVD RW all of a sudden???

Sorry in advance about the long message
    I have a satellite U205 S5002 which i got used 3 months ago
when i first got it i installed vista and everything was ok.( hardware-mat**bleep**a dvd-ram uj-842s ATA device)
then a week ago, i bought a new pack of dvd-r-until then i had used diff brands of dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-rw, dvd+rw and they all worked. I dont know if it matters but the new pack was Imation and couldn't burn on any of them. Since then i have reinstalled vista twice, and haven't installed any programs besides win avi and nero.
When I last installed vista a couple of days ago, it let me burn 5 dvd-r and then nothing with win avi. Nero would only burn only dvd rw and everytime i tried a dvd-r it said it couldn't start disc at once.
Today i bought a new pack of the same dvd-rw it let me use last time and nero burned 1 and then kept telling me there was a track error. Win avi burned 1 and then when i tried a 2nd wouldn't do anything and then i installed convertX to dvd and it did the same as win avi.
It still burns cd-r's(they are the only one's i can burn with the vista built in software)
I just checked device manager and clicked on properties for the dvd drive, and in the details tab under value it says CD-ROM drive(dont know if that matters but i thought I'd mention it)
I have asked a couple of computer techs in my area and they had no idea what could be wrong
Thanks in advance for any help

it's unusual that this started out of the blue ... did you install/uninstall/upgrade any hardware or software just before this started happening to you?
here's some standard resources for dealing with this sort of thing (but the sudden onset makes me wonder if something else is afoot):

  • DVD SP will only burn 1 file out of 3

    Hello there --
I'm trying to use DVD SP to burn a dmg (then iso) file (because my burner died it seems), to be burnt on a pc later.
My problem is that the dmg file won't work (itself or converted to .iso).
I'm importing m2v/ac3 twin files, which play back fine in DVD SP itself (and elsewhere). It simulates ok too, but when I burn the file, it weighs 1,07 Gig, which is less than the total of the three clips I'm trying to burn, which amount to about 2 Gigs.
And in the VIDEO_TS folder, I can find the menu .VOB file, the first clip, but all other files are all 158 Kb empty files.
The first file (which seems to burn ok) is 16:9, the two others are 4:3.
Any suggestion, or things to look up or try?
    Thanks!
    DVD SP : 4.2.2
    Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Dual-Core Xeon / 14 Gig
    10.6.8

I am not understanding your workflow and where what elements are coming from.
To my knowledge you cannot burn a dmg out of DSP. You can export an img. If you are opening a dmg and then using those elements to create a DVD then there may be a problem with some of the elements.
If the DVD simulates fine than build it to your desktop in a new folder.  Open the Video_TS in the Mac DVD player application and confirm all is well. If it doesn't play right than there are issues with your files in DSP.
You should be able to take the folder of build files to a PC or Mac(with the proper software) and burn a DVD in Nero or just about any other program.
You can have a DVD with mixed tracks(some 16:9 & some 4x3). If DSP is making the tracks 4x3 when added then somehow that info is being associated with the file in the workflow.
Need more info to be of more assistance.

  • DVD is Not Burning in DVD Studio Pro

DVD is Not Burning in DVD Studio Pro 4.2.0

I used build and format approach. Both discs play fine on computer platforms, but not on a consumer DVD connected to the TV. Normally I have no problem. I checked and rechecked several times all the preferences for Studio Pro. The only thing I noticed was instead of generating a Video and Audio TS file, it generated one HVDVD_TS file. Is this the issue? If so,where do I correct this (in the settings)?
    Thanks

It's probable that the CD 'side' of the combo drive has failed.  That you cannot boot from the recovery CD is pretty much proof of the failure.

    • Trashing pref file - first thing to do (free and easy)
    • Cheap media is often a problem - I use Verbatim DVD-R and burn at x4 speed
    • Free space - is important BUT only on start-up hard disk (others doesn't matter)
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    iDVD pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named.
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)

    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !

    Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets

  • DVD Rendering and Burning: differences between Premiere Pro and Premiere Elements

I am landscape photogapher and wish to either create slide shows in Premerie or import them to Premiere  from H264 1080 quicktime files generated by Ligthroom 3.  I do not do frame by frame video editing.  My only goal in using Premiere is to be able to render and/or burn DVD's and eventually Bluetooh compatible DVD's for play back on commercial flat panel TV's, e.g., Samsung flat panel dvd's.
Are the DVD rendering and burning capablity of Pemiere CS5 Pro and Premiere 9 Elements equivalent , i.e, are that both as likely to produce DVD's that render with natural color on commercial flat panel TV's?
My prior experience is that my Lightroom generated 1080, H264 quicktime movies  have perfectly natural color on Mac LCD and other computer monitors but see very over saturated color on commecial flat panel tv's.
Discussions with Adobe tech support folks are contradictory on this matter.

The main differences between the authoring capabilities (the assembly of DVD/BD, navigation and Menus, plus burning) of Encore (the authoring program, that ships and installs with PrPro) and PrE 9 are:
1.) Encore is a full-featured authoring program, offering a lot more power and flexibility, but at the expense of having to do it "by hand," where PrE 9 is very limited in the navigation that can be employed, and it uses Menu Sets for that automation. Though PSD's, like the Menus in Encore, they have many special aspects, that must be considered, when doing any customization.
A.) In Encore, one can create almost all sorts of navigation in the DVD/BD, limited almost exclusively to the limits imposed by the DVD, or BD specs.
B.) PrE 9 will allow Autoplay, with no Menu, or will automatically create Scene Menus, per the Chapter Markers that you add - and that is ALL. There will      be no Into AV material. No Subtiltes. No supplemental Audio streams. Only linear navigation, or no navigation.
C.) Menus for Encore are much more easily customized, where there are some major conventions in those from PrE, that MUST be addressed.
2.) Encore can Burn an Image (ISO) - no Image in PrE, and can Burn a BD to Folder, which cannot be done in PrE - only for DVD.
3.) Encore offers the capability to adjust Layer Breaks for DL discs.
4.) Encore allows one to adjust the Burn speed, and in PrE, one is stuck with the "fastest" based on the speed of the media + the burner
5.) Encore allows output to a Flash delivery with pretty much full navigation.
6.) Encore allows for changes in the Subpicture Highlight Color Sets, and PrE will only do that, with some Menu Set editing.
7.) Encore offers a SlideShow feature, but I feel that it is rudimentary and limited, and assemble mine in PrPro, then go to Encore for authoring.
8.) Encore is a separate program, though interfaces with PrPro with ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link), and is NOT available as a stand-alone any more - only with      PrPro.
There are probably more differences, and some of the above might not make any difference to you. Things can probably be summed up as: Encore = great power and flexibility, but with things being done manually, and PrE lacks the power and flexibility, but is semi-automatic, so probably easier to use on simple Projects.
Good luck, and hope this helps you make the decision,
    Hunt
[Edit] Sorry that some of the formatting for the Outline did not translate well. Gotta' explore the Outline formatting in the editing screen more, 'cause it would probably have fixed things. Sorry about that.
