DVD SP Picture Loss

I'm having trouble maintaining picture quality after importing into DVDSP. Two areas of loss include: fast motion sequences and the beginning of segments that also have motion graphics after black slug. Tried all different variations in compressor. Is this the nature of DVDSP?

Tried all different variations in compressor. Is this the nature of DVDSP?
If you encode your movie in Compressor (MPEG2) DVDSP will not re-encode it. You define your quality in Compressor.
That said, some questions:
- What format/codec is your timeline?
- How long in minutes is your movie?
- What preset did you use in Compressor?
- Where ar you judging the quality loss? Computer playback full screen?

    Hi,
Sorry, let me try this way: Which application did you use to create the DVD disc ? Please note: BD is for BluRay Disc. Many BD players can play DVD but all DVD players (only) can not play BD's.
    Regards.

    Hi,
According to your description, it looks like you encountered a Graphic driver problem. Have you tried to reinstall Graphic driver for test? If not, please have a try.
If possible, also reinstall the sound card driver.
If problem persists, You can try to use System File Checker tool to fix your problem. Please refer to the following link for detailed operation.

  • Insignia 55" TV HDMI Media Center DVD Pixelated Picture

Been using a Win 7 64bit Media Center with Media Browser to watch DVD on a Zenith 32" HDTV through a Pioneer SX -821 receiver using HDMI cables from a Radeon 5670 graphics card on a quad core PC.  Great picture but when hooking up a NS-55L260A13 with the same setup the picture is very pixelated, no blacks and poor quality.  The Windows 7 desktop, IE 9, and the Media Browser images are crystal clear and vivid.  Tried loading the Shark007 codex pack with no improvement.  Any ideas?

These days, DVD is considered an inferior source. A larger TV will only magnify the poor attempts to scale the DVD source. One cannot fairly judge the quality of a display based on DVD playback.

  • DVD Player picture size

I have the new Mac Mini, connected to a Pioneer 50 in plasma as a media center. When I first got it, DVD's would play full-screen. Then I fiddled with the audio in DVD Player, to get DD 5.1 output, which now works. Now DVD's don't play full screen, they play in a window about 3/4 of full screen. The desktop is full-screen (with overscan).
I can't seem to find way to expand DVD picture to full screen. I've tried all the preferences in DVD Player. Ahh, the joys of a new computer.
    Max

When you play a DVD with the DVD Player application, and not Front Row, what size does it default to? If the DVD Player application was stopped in the middle of playing a full-screen size movie, it will come out of full-screen mode. When you play your next movie, the DVD Player application will remember this. Perhaps when you were adjusting your audio preferences, the full-screen mode was interrupted?
I don't have a computer with Front Row, but it sounds like it's running the DVD Player with its default preferences, which now may not be to play at full-screen, and it doesn't give you options to change it directly from inside Front Row. So, I would open a movie in the DVD Player directly, switch to full-screen mode and after the screen adjusts, just quit the DVD Player program. Then try it with Front Row to see if it remembers the full-screen display now. Or can you type on the keyboard while the movie is playing? Apple-0 (command and zero) is the keyboard command to change to full-screen mode.

  • Help request: "simple" DVD, just pictures, delay issues

Hi, I admit I'm a newbie regarding DVD authoring, but I'm trying to help a friend who just got her DVD SP 4 and needs to do a simple dvd with some of her paintings and some info about her.
We've tried to follow the manual's instructions but now I think we need your help!
So basically we have a project with a menu with 4 buttons (works, bio, cv, contact). No videos involved, it's all pictures based.
We prepared the pictures in photoshop, and since I read about the slideshow problems in DVD SP, I created a track to show the slides.
On each subpage (works, bio, cv, contact) I have created also a "button over video", using the subtitle (it's a "menu" word which links back to the menu), it seemed to us the easiest way to create an interaction.
All the buttons in the project are text, no pics, no videos.
Everything seems to work fine in the simulator. But when I save it as .img and test in the Apple DVD player, there are some unexpected delays when I click on, for example, the bio, cv, contact menu voices, before these pages to appear.
It's strange also because these three pages are just made of one picture each at the moment, while the "works" consists of 6 pictures (and it has music also, while the other pages have no audio).
We have also tried two different methods to build the project: the first version had all the contents on separate tracks (so one for "works", one for "bio", and so on).
Then we tried with just one track, putting everything on it and using the marker/chapter/jump features to create a correct navigation.
In this second case the final results are a bit better, but the delay is still there especially on the 3rd and 4th menu voice/chapter of the track ("cv" and "contact").
Also, it's very annoying that the "button over video"/subtitle button appears before that delayed track/chapter appears, so if you have a tip about this issue too, we would appreciate it!
    Thanks!

Whilst you are making a simple disc, you are using some advanced features, and for some folk they are just too glitchy to use.
Here's a suggestion... get all of your images into .pict format at the correct dimensions for your video standard (720x480 or whatever) and number them sequentially. OPen the sequence in Quicktime and allocate five or ten seconds to each image and then save the result out as a piece of dv footage. Bring that in to DVDSP and add chapter markers at the start of each new image, or encode it to MPEG2 and bring it in (If you don't encode, DVDSP will handle that for you, but you might get better results if you do it yourself).
Create some stories and place the relevant chapter markers into each (works, bio, cv and contact) so that only those markers play. Connect the menu buttons to the story containers (not the markers inside), and set the end jump and menu call for each story to go back to the relevant menu (and button).
Make sure that your menus are not layer based - use simple overlay style menus or create them from the built in templates and palette items.
You should then have avoided the slideshow settings in DVDSP and may get better playback performance. Keep in mind that there are always delays when you move from a menu to a track, and these differ according to the DVD player that you are using.

  • Daughter made a dvd of pictures, sent to me, when I insert dvd it says it is blank

I have tried opening via iPhoto and nothing different happens...A message pops up saying the DVD is blank. I have just put the DVD in and waited - the same message pops up. I took the DVD to Walgreens, and all the pictures came up. What am I doing wrong?

You might not be doing anything wrong. I've seen reports of folks having this difficulty with DVD disks on 10.7 and no known solution at this time.

  • Creating DVD from pictures

    Hi all
Pretty new to the iMovie thing. Need to know whats the best app for creating a DVD of some vacation pics. I want to add titles, chapters (500 pics) & music. I tried exporting a slideshow from iPhoto into iDVD but it didn't play right (stopped playing halfway thru) on the set top DVD player I used....HELP!!
    thanks
    Dave

It really depends on what type of things you want to do with your photos.
You can set up your slideshow in iPhoto, add music and then import that into iDVD.
Or, you can import the photos into iMovie, add titles, transitions, effects, music and creative themes, you can use some thirdparty effects like 'Photo to Movie' for variety.
Have a look at Apple's iLife site for some tutorials to get you started.

how do i return my photo back ...as i do restore my ipad2 with comuter pc. i did mistake something...so  i loss photo in ipad2 now. .. how i get it back please?

If you've deleted a photo on the iPad then the only way to get it back is if it was on the iPad when you last synced/backed up - in which case you can try restoring the whole iPad to that backup (you can't just restore a photo or an individual app). iPad backups and restores : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079

  • Burning to dvd and the loss of file size

I am new to aperture and in trying to burn my photos to dvd (with toast 6 or idvd), I have a couple of questions. First, can I just drag and drop the images or do I need to export them? Secondly, when I have dragged and dropped photos into the Toast screen the file size is considerably smaller (about one fifth the size). Am I just dragging the preview? It seems when I export a photo to my desktop it is also then a smaller file size. (one third or so) How to I burn to dvd select full size versions of my photos?
    Thank you for any help.

    hello, lupita
    Welcome to the Aperture forum!
I am new to aperture and in trying to burn my photos
to dvd (with toast 6 or idvd), I have a couple of
questions. First, can I just drag and drop the
images or do I need to export them?
if you have made Aperture Previews (if not Update the Version Previews first that you want to drag & drop) you can drag & drop them into the drop zone of iDVD from the Browser (it takes a while for iDVD Media option to see the Previews while they Update)
or you can access your photos through the Media/Photos/Aperture Library option in iDVD
or you can export Versions to a folder on a hard drive and iDVD/File/Import/Image
    Secondly, when I
have dragged and dropped photos into the Toast screen
the file size is considerably smaller (about one
fifth the size). Am I just dragging the preview?
    yes.
    It
seems when I export a photo to my desktop it is also
    then a smaller file size.
Exporting a photograph (Version) from Aperture can have several size and quality options, since you want your photos to be the same size then make sure the Versions are not being resized which it sounds like they have been. Select & edit the Presets/Image Presets... for Export
or, Export the Version and at the window prompt select the Export Preset: Edit to modify the presets to your liking.
    How to
I burn to dvd select full size versions of my
    photos?
Export Version/Edit/Export Preset/ now select file type TIFF or JPEG or PSD you want "Original Size" etc.
At the Export window select the DVD/CD so the files go into it

  • Dvd-ram driver loss

Lost the DVD-RAM driver for Mat**bleep**a UJ-812.  As such, the T42p does not address the D drive.  Help!

@danieltc: you could try the "old-fashioned way": remove/uninstall the ATA/SATA controller from the device manager and then let windows search and install (again) the driver for your controller and for the drives (on that controller), including the driver for your optical drive
this should give windows a "refresh" (which is needed sometimes, especially when you upgraded windows -and not clean installed it-)

  • MBP burned dvd - no picture in Windows MP on PC

    Hello
I just got a new MBP and burned a DVD on it that plays fine in my DVD player hooked up to my TV. I take it to my PC and with latest WMP (10) it won't show video, just the audio plays.
Any ideas? I went into Tools/Options and changed the video performance (lowered it) as per some readings on Windows message boards, that didn't help.

  • I have burned a DVD using I-DVD with pictures from Iphoto and I am wondering why the metadata that includes the Faces tags are not showing up in the original files on the burned DVD?

    Request for help

Faces is not a standard and has no place to go in metadata - in iPhoto you can export including much of the metadata by chencking all of the boxes when you export - no idea at all what iDVD does - better to ask in the iDVD forum

  • 6680 picture loss - help!

Please can someone help me out. Every so often something weird happens to the photos on my phone and I end up losing them.
Basically the thumbnails in the image gallery are replaced by a broken picure and I cannot open/do anything with the photo. Once I exit the gallery the photos are all lost.
If I try to veiw the details of the file it says everything is unsupported.
This has happened several times and its sooo annoying! I have lost some fab photos...is there anyway I can get them back?
    Pleeeeaaaase help!

    hi
i too had the gallery problem "twice" and 2 software updates and 3 new memory cards later the problem is solved.........so i would take your phone to a nokia repair centre and get the latest software and a new memory card...
you should be able to view your pics by putting your card in a card reader, try copying them from the card to the pc one at a time as you may find that some pics will now crash your pc (as i found out) some shrunk, some vanished, and some i could not view as the crashed the pc.......
    see this link
    http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39744
get this update or one later than it:
    V 3.04.37
    01-06-05
    RM-36
this is the software version mine is now running and works fine.....
and serial number of memory card that works ok is 0631332
hope you get your problem sorted
