DVD SP4 Widescreen templates

Hi
I know I need to learn to make my own, but with a new baby and no time for anything but the absolute essentials, please will someone point me in the direction of where I can find some widescreen templates.
Also, where on my hard drive will I find the images which make up the existing templates which come as standard. If I could find these I could tweak my existing ones, however, I have looked and can not find them.
All help gratefully received. Thank you

Have you tried simply setting the templates to 16:9?

  • Can't install DVD SP 4 Templates

I am installing DVD Studio Pro 4 and the installation process seems to hang at 99% where it says DVD Studio Pro Templates. I have to force quit the installer Of course, I can't see any templates when I launch the application. Any ideas how to get the Templates to install on my G5? I have tried checking just the Templates box in the installer with the same result. Perhaps I need to do an Uninstall, but I don't know where all the files are to do that.
    Thanks

    Yes you can.
    Be patient

  • What setting is 'DVD quality' widescreen - ie about 3gb per hour?

I have videod (isn't that a such a quaint 20th century word for the podcast age?) a conference and I want to archive the footage to store on a DVD for later reediting.
The "full quality" setting is massive, I only have 90 mins, but a 20 min clip takes up over 10Gb
The 'CD-rom quality' is just not not dvd quality.
(I am using iMovie 06 btw, i will move onto 08 when it is finished)
Ideally, I would just burn the whole lot raw with iDVD and import it again if i need to reedit - but (for copyright as opposed to technical reasons i suppose) we can't just put a dvd in the slot and rip it like we can an audio cd in iTunes. I have tried the workarounds - but none of them worked for me.
Anyway, I digress: What setting is 'DVD quality' widescreen - ie about 3gb per hour?

    Hi there.
    *Keep the quality*
0nce you have compressed data - you can't get the original quality back - so store as full quality as possible - and in several formats so there is always a backup.
    Media
data cds don't hold that much - 700mb - so forget about them for quality productions and archiving
dvd-roms hold much more - 4,700mb (you can get dual layer ones that double it)
    *'share' settings*
    Now, you have 2 options for saving the movie;
    1. as a file on a DVD-Rom (a compact .mov or a massive.dv)
    2. as a proper playable DVD (iDVD)
If the "full quality" iM setting is too big a file for a dvd-rom (and you will be lucky to get 10 mins of footage in 4.7gb), then you could 'iDVD' it and that way you will get a good quality movie up to nearly 2 hours on a disc disc that can be played on most machines (and could even be ripped back into an editable form using third party software)
Alternatively, save it using 'expert settings' listed above and you will probably get good enough results for a longer film without having to burn it as a playable (but uneditable) dvd.
Bear in mind that unless you are using a pro camera, you may not notice the much difference with the higher settings.
Good luck - seeing your work on the big screen is a blast!

  • First bluray - share, compressor or DVD SP4?

Want to create my first bluray - have an internal bluray burner in my early 2008 Mac Pro...have a pro res timeline in FCP 7. Not yet rendered. So if I go to share, bluray, do I have to first render the timeline? Or does it just do it for me? How can I make custom menu and add custom menu buttons to this via that share/bluray dialogue box? If I want to use DVD SP 4, do I have to first make a QT mov, bring that into Coompressor, then that mpeg 2 into DVD SP4? Then burn a bluray out of DVD SP 4?
What's best workflow for making a custom 3 button menu, burning to bluray?
    Thanks much!
    K

It's either Share or Export self contained and use Compressor.
There is no support for authoring blu ray in DVD SP.
You might want to consider Toast 9/10 or Encore CS3/4 if you want to do more than a basic blu ray disc.

  • DVD SP4 and Toast 7

    Hello Folks,
I did it! Yes, I decided to purchase the Final Cut Studio bundle.
Thanks to everyone that help me with my questions on this forum. You are all very kind.
I have a quick question for the DVD SP4 Pros:
I noticed that some people on this forum use Toast 7 for burning DVD's.
Doesn't DVD SP4 burn the DVD's for you?
What are the advantages, if any, for purchasing Toast 7 as a companion to DVD SP4?
    Thanks again!

  • Muxing problem in DVD SP4

I'm having a problem when I "build" the project in DVD SP4.1. There are periodic digital defects in the video that are in the video TS folder when it is played with DVD Player 4.6.5 and when the burned disc is played on a home DVD player. The defects are in the exact same spots on both. They are not, however, on the mpeg 2 when played in DVD SP4.1 either from the timeline or using the simulator, the playback is flawless. The mpeg 2 was created with compressor 2.1 at 7.2 mgps average with a max of 9, VBR and two pass best. No error message appeared. The OS 10.4.3 was installed from disc and then updated to 10.4.6. During the mpeg 2 compression and during the build, ethernet and log in's were turned off. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Henrik

    Hi David,
Thank you for the reply. For the last six months I've been having multiple problems with my computer, including not being able to open DVD SP4 after installing Final Cut Studio, Compressor not working, the spinning beach ball of death and other issues. I've traced the problem to two 1GB memory boards I bought at Comp-USA. They are their own brand and apparently not Mac compatible. I pulled the boards, leaving me with 3.5Gig, formatted the drive, re-installed OS10.4.3, updated to 10.4.6, installed Studio and everything works perfectly! Thank you so much for all your help, it is greatly appreciated.

  • Templates in DVD SP4?

I'm going to purchase DVD Studio Pro 4 pretty soon. I'd like to know if there are some templates in there to get me (a newbie) started?
I think I've graduated from iDVD and its frustrating lack of flexibility.

Yes - Apple has thoughtfully included all of the templates available in DVDSP3, and added some HD templates for the latest version.

  • How to import idvd templates into DVD SP4?

How can I use idvd templates in dvd studio pro 4??? How do i import them?

Versions iDVD5 and forward will not import.

  • DVD Studio 2 Templates Location?

    Hi,
I have a new iMac with Lion. I've upgraded to FCPX and all is fine, until I went to author a DVD...
Now I still have FCS2, but it won't install in my new machine as it won't accept PowerPC installs. So I grabbed DVD Studio Pro from my back-up from my old mac and all is good. But, all the templates and the like are missing. I guess because I only brought across the application and not the associated files.
Anyone know where the relevant files are and more importantly, where I copy them in Lion to make this work correctly (unless the file structure is the same).
    Thanks

Solved. Just copied the DVD Studio folder from old back-up to library.

  • MPEG DVD Pal Widescreen at 1.458 PAR, what were Adobe Thinking?

Okay apart from the fact that Adobe wanted to stiff me for another £999 to upgrade from the CS3 Production Premium suite to CS5.5, my first HDV project on the new system messed up; and I thought I was moving forward (apart from my bank balance) phew got that off my chest.  Whichever way you look at this and no matter how many technicians tell us otherwise, DVD players, You Tube, Vimeo, well the world really have been happy using a PAR of 1.422222 for PAL Widescreen and now Adobe are using 1.458 the "correct" PAR for the BBC apparently having read previous threads (well yippee da).  This doesn't help me uploading my videos for a client to You Tube, Vimeo or a DVD and having black bars either side, they couldn't care less whether it is the correct standard for the BBC or not they just want their footage to look like everyone else's.  What are you playing at Adobe, just give us another option in Media Encoder to export the same way we have been happy doing for years and stop rolling over for the BBC.  Incidentally I upload MPEG2 DVD to You Tube and have been getting good results so that is why I am using MPEG2 for You Tube and Vimeo (but I'm sure someone will now give me a good reason not to).   I have been fighting Adobe's (and Window's)  corner for the last god knows how many years while the Mac crew have been tempting me with that alluring mistress FCP, more stable audio and better colour resolution.  Adobe sort this out we've had enough of this nonsense, what is it with big companies they become god like in their sheer arrogance, give us what we want and stop toying with your minions.  This really hacks me off.

I understand the frustration that your tone implies, but you've run off the tracks here.
The computer world uses square pixels.  Vimeo, YouTube, etc.  When people upload anything but square to those services, the resulting picture is distorted, as it's displayed in square pixels.  And I see a lot of distorted videos on YouTube.

I'm fairly certain that if you upload an MPEG2 to YouTube, they're going to recompress it to FLV or MP4 for you.  It's not one of their "supported formats."  So, I wouldn't be surprised if they muck it up.
£999 to go from CS3 to CS5.5. sounds like a pretty good deal to me... that's a three version jump.  I also believe Adobe has become more responsive to customer input in the past few years, and not just "rolling over" for big clients.  But, those are opinions.

  • D7560 DVD printing - custom template or custom position of image

How do I create a custom template or custom position images in order to print a CD or DVD directly on my D7560?
I do not want to use any of the templates in Photoessentials, or at least I'd like to customize one to fit what I want to do.  There is a "customize position" button on the "edit" page, but it's grey'd out and won't let me select it.
Can anyone help me with this?  Do I have to create a template in Photoshop and just import that as the image or is there actually an easier way to do this?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for the same thing too. I had an Epson before & it had a great DVD printing program, full size, complete . This is crap. I'm on a mac. If I had know it was this bad, I never would have bought it. Any answere yet? Thanks.

  • How do I make a DVD for widescreen televison?

I use PSE 8 slideshow, and add a few video clips, put it all together on a DVD using Windows DVD Maker, but notice that when played on a widescreen television, the pictures are stretched, so people appear to be fatter than they really are.  If played on a smaller television the DVD is good.
In Elements I use wmv. and DVD PAL (720 x 576) (I am from the UK).  Thanks for any advice.

Do some reading on PAR - Pixel Aspect Ratio
    I believe a standard 4:3 screen uses a PAR of .9 and 16:9 widescreen uses a PAR of 1.2 (or 1.3 ???)
Anyway... google and do some reading

  • Share Web DVD and Menu Templates

I wonder if I can save and share a Web DVD through my automatic download sales.  I am saving all media in Amazon S3 so I can put the folders up there.  If it's possible which file would be the one a client would download?
This then leads to a 2nd question and that is about the menu templates.  Is there a place or way for me to develop my own templates with solid backgrounds, tailored to my business with the number of scenes I want to open on the front page?
    THANKS again for your help!
    Linda

If you have Photoshop, then you can do almost anything that you want.
The reason that I asked is that Photoshop can CREATE Layer Sets (basically the Buttons), where PS-Elements can ONLY edit those.
You might want to look at the link in this ARTICLE, for some tips for creating you own Menu Sets.

  • DVD Studio 4 templates

I've been using DSP2 for a long time, basically one template over and over for wedding dvd's.
Just upgraded to 4. The same template, when I drag the asset into the "full motion" clips that play on the menu, the clip looks really light and faded (it's sepia tone to begin wtih, but the old template would play the clips with nice contrast). Is there an opacity setting for these clips that play on the menu? Not sure why the default is so light and washed out in the new one.
    Thanks in advance

    Never saw DVDSP2
3 and 4 have very similar templates, so
perhaps the opacity changed from what
    you're used to with that
You can try and re-create the template
    from scratch in DVDSP's built-in
Overlay Menus if you have time
    cheers

  • DVD studio pro templates

I upgraded to  FCStudio about three years ago but cannot find a DVD studio Pro 4 content disc.  I had several discs with the upgrade but cannot find a DVD studio Pro one.  I cannot remember if it came with a disc or not, does anyone know if there should be one with it.  If not, where can I buy the templates?  Many thanks.

Regardless of whether you bought an upgrade or full price retail copy, FCS includes everything -the set of discs is identical. The difference is in the type of serial number you got.
You should have got a DVD Studio Pro Content disc with the set.
