DVD starting on insertion to player

I am using iDVD 08. I want my DVD to begin playing automatically when it is inserted into the player.

Very easy to do. Just open map view and drag and drop your QT movie to the very first box. Now your movie will play as soon as it is inserted into a typical set top dvd player or computer with Dvd-Rom or S-Drive. Btw, this is called an Autoplay Dvd.
This is a sample view from iDvd 6 but the procedure is identical to iDvd'08.
Creating a DVD that plays automatically when it is inserted into a DVD player
You can create a DVD that consists of a single movie or slideshow that begins to play automatically when the viewer inserts the DVD into a player. Such a movie or slideshow is called an “autoplay” movie or slideshow. You can also set the movie or slideshow to loop so that it plays continuously in what is called “kiosk mode.” This is great for creating presentations to be used in a kiosk or for making simple projects that require minimum viewer interaction.
To create a looping autoplay DVD:
Open iDVD and choose “Create a New Project” in the dialog that appears.
Type a name for your project in the Save As field, and then click Create.
The iDVD window opens with a default theme selected. This theme will not appear in your final DVD because an autoplay DVD does not use a theme.
Click the Map button (shown below) to open the DVD map.
Click Media to open the Media pane, then click Photos or Movies.
Drag a movie or a photo album, or even a single image, from the Media pane to the project icon (shown below).
You can also drag images or movies stored elsewhere on your computer or a connected server.
You can use photos, movies, presentation slides (created in a program such as Keynote), or other image files in a slideshow created in iDVD. iDVD works with any image file that is supported by QuickTime (including PICT, JPEG, TIFF, and PDF.)
To turn on looping for the autoplay movie or slideshow (a single image is also considered a slideshow in this context), click the project icon and then choose Advanced > Loop Movie or Loop Slideshow.
If you added a movie with sound, the audio of the movie is retained, so the viewer hears it during autoplay.
If you added a slideshow, you can double-click the project icon to open the slideshow editor. There you can add a single audio file or a playlist as a soundtrack and set other slideshow features, such as transitions and slide duration.
Click the Preview button (shown below) to see how your movie or slideshow looks.
The iDVD remote control opens, and your DVD begins to play immediately.
When you’re finished, click the Exit button on the DVD remote control to return to the iDVD window.
If you are sure your project is the way you want it, you can burn it to a DVD. When you put the final DVD into a DVD player, it begins to play immediately and will continue to play until you stop it.

  • Playing DVD's using Windows Media Player

I've been trying to play dvd's that I've made or bought in both my Dell Inspiron labtop and my Dell 8250 pc and they won't play right. It doesn't matter if it's a music or movie. I downloaded a nvidia video decoder for my pc.......no go! The only thing that seems to work better than anything that I've tried is to download the VLC media player. The play there isn't bad, but I was told by the geek squad that I may need some more memory? All my drivers on both computers are up to date so what gives. If I try to play any dvd in media player without the vlc the audio/video is jumpy and distorted. I've been therefore using the vlc...........it was FREE! I've read in a thread that "changing the region" will then auto play when dvd's are inserted. Thanks for all your help!!!!

It sounds like a codec issue with media player. Media player doesn't come with it's own DVD codec, which is needed to play DVD's. You need third party DVD software or codec to play DVD's, like WinDVD, PowerDVD,VLC (free), etc. When DVD codec is installed, Media player will use this to decode the DVD files.
3rd party software usually has a built in utility that loads at start-up and can be configured to auto play DVD's, or........you can use windows auto play feature to automatically plays DVD's when inserted.
Open "My Computer".> Right click you DVD drive> select "properties"> under "Auto Play" tab, select DVD movies, then check "select an action to perform", Highlight the program you want to play you DVD movies, then click ok.

  • DVD won't insert.

    DVD won't insert.
Right side blocked by a lever or something.
I just ejected one DVD but can't put in the next one. It only goes 1/3 the way in.
To get the previous one accepted, I restarted the computer holding down the eject key, applying slight pressure pushing the DVD inward, the blockade moved, and it accepted it during the shutdown portion of the restart. The lever seemed to shift from its position.
I launced DVD Player and clicked the eject button and it has no effect.
I'm doing a multi-disk software install so I can't restart between each disc (and shouldn't have to anyway)
Is there something I can do to reset the position of that internal lever- other than restarting the computer????

    Hi,
All of them or just few ? If only few, those DVD's are no good for that drive. One of my machines won't read (will push out) all DVD's which come with the monthly PC Users (now Tech Life).

  • DVD Start/Stop and Subclips

Question: In my browser I have double clicked a clip, it opens in the viewer, I then go to >View>DVD start/stop and the markers are inserted. Once I go back to the browser and highlight the markers and go to Modify>make subclips, FCP will only convert about 27 or 28 of the markers to subclips, when there is actually over 100 markers. Is there a maxium limit on the number of markers that can be converted or that will appear in the browser list? Hope I am clear.
G5-1.8GHz-2GB DDR SDRAM- 250 ATA HD just upgraded to FCP 5.1

    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I've done it both ways, not sure which is easier.
HDV capture creates individual clips (individual media files) based on the detected start/stop and uses a name you specify at the initiation of the capture appending a sequence number to the end of the name for each new clip. S/S detect always uses the name "Segment". Like the Segment clips, HDV clips are in natural order, as you say. I'm guessing that the file system is smart enough to consider the entire number at the end of a name, but sorts character by charcter if the number is in the middle of the name.
Just seems a little short sighted to use different naming conventions for essentially the same function, especially when it causes the files to be out of order.

  • Making a DVD play when inserted without a menu?

How can I make a DVD that when inserted just begins playing video? I tried just adding the video, though I am unable to delete the menu and theme.
    Thanks.

    Hi
You can do it in two ways:
    a. Drop Your movie icon into the auto-play box in iDVD (When You select it to show
a block-diagram with boxes). Auto-play box is the upper left most box.
Now it will: Auto start - BUT it ends on a menu.
    • You can set - looping - then it will re-start after reaching end
    • Or You can modify a menu: Take a silent one eg Brushed Metal and the add a
black .jpg photo to hid the rest. (Or a photo with THE END)
    *alt b.*
In iMovie if Your movie is less than 60min (Don't try LP-mode on Camera)
    • Copy back to a miniDV tape in Camera (There are 90 minutes ones)
    • Close iMovie and start iDVD
    • Select OneStep DVD
Now iDVD will copy Your tape to a DVD - Without any theme/menu
    Yours Bengt W

  • My Macbook Pro always ejects any CDs, DVDs that I insert. How do I remedy this?

My Macbook Pro always ejects any CDs, DVDs that I insert. How do I remedy this?

Before taking it for repair, try a drive cleaning disk. They are US$5-15 at most computer, electronics, and office supply stores. Slot-loading drives get dirty and the inexpensive cleaning disk is the logical step before spending a lot of mony.
Case in point: A friend has an older MacBook Pro and its optical drive had not worked in years. When he took the computer to an AASP for servicing another issue, he asked about replacing the optical drive. The Service Provider said it woul cost US$140 paarts + labor to install a new one--something my friend could not afford at the time.
I loaned my friend my drive cleaning disk and now his original drive works like it did when new.

  • How do I stream the dvd's I insert into my mac on my apple tv?

How do I stream the dvd's I insert into my mac on my apple tv?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If your Mac meets the specifications for airplay mirroring, then you can play your DVDs but you will have to use a program such as VLC.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer).

At what point is the video quality bad?  Is it bad on capture?  I would recommend using an s-video 1394 firewire converter instead.  They capture the video at a higher bit rate.  If you have a lot of 8mm tapes to capture, invest in a stand alone DVD recorder.  They capture and compress in one shot.  If you need to rip it back from the DVD into iMovie again, I would recommend using DVDxDV.

  • Unexpected start node "Insert" with namespace...

    Hi,
I have a simple Biztalk app which receives an XML and sends to oracle DB using WCF-custom adapter.
I generated schema from Visual Studio, created a map for inbound XSD to generated XSD mapping, deployed the app.
Send port is configured to use the map and there is no orchestration.
I run into following error. The error description is understood, but I am not able to see why it is happening.
The adapter failed to transmit message going to send port "SendPort12" with URL "oracledb://DEVDB/". It will be retransmitted after the retry interval specified for this Send Port. Details:"Microsoft.ServiceModel.Channels.Common.XmlReaderParsingException: Unexpected start node "Insert" with namespace "http://Microsoft.LobServices.OracleDB/2007/03/DEVSCHEMA/Table/SITES" found.
    SOAP Action is :

I have checked multiple posts on different sites for this error. I am still not able to figure out what is causing this. Any help is appreciated.

  • When they are gonna insert flash player in the i-phone 4

i want to know why they did nt insert flash player in the i phone 4 yet

Here is what apple thinks about flash
Flash was created during the PC era – for PCs and mice. Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short.
The avalanche of media outlets offering their content for Apple’s mobile devices demonstrates that Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content. And the 250,000 apps on Apple’s App Store proves that Flash isn’t necessary for tens of thousands of developers to create graphically rich applications, including games.
New open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too). Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind.

  • Help! Compiled DVD starts at wrong menu but fine in simulator

This is my first DVD Studio Pro project and this problem is frustrating: everything is perfect in simulator however when I Build/Format the image the DVD starts at a sub menu instead of the disclaimer set to autoplay.
As I inspected the log file while compiling, DVDSP thinks this particular sub menu is Menu#1:
    Starting DVD Build PVP_VOL1...
    Compiler Initializing...
    Precompiling Project PVP_VOL1
    Compiling VMG Information...
    Created 37 PGCs in VTSM1
    Created 5 PGCs in VTSM2
    Created 5 PGCs in VTSM3
    Created 10 PGCs in VMG.
    8 Menu(s) will be created...
    Compiling Menu PGCs...
    Compiling Menu PGCs...
    *Compiling Menu#1 (Season 2 Menu-2)...*
Menu#1 should be 'disclaimer' or 'title menu.' I have no clue why it chooses that particular sub menu during the build and why everything working correctly in simulator.
    Any ideas?

Could be that you set first play to be that menu (simulator may be inaccurate or you could have accidently set it to play a menu as oppossed to the beginning of the disc)
Is the disclaimer a track or a menu? Any scripts or straight jumps from one to the next? Which players are you trying this on?
Not that this should be an issue, but you can also look at the menu layouts it VTS view to see what order they are in as far as DVD SP is concerned. In other words if you move things around in outline view, the VTS may not change.

  • DVD starts playing on insertion

I just created a DVD using FCP, Compressor and DVD SP. With the TV and a BluRay player it goes to the main menu and plays as it should, but when I insert it into my Mac, it starts to play several seconds into the main track, bypassing the menu altogether. I can pause it and manually take it to the main menu and then it will play as it should, but that doesn't make a very clean presentation.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Shelley

The Apple DVD Player will remember your disc and where you were the last time you played that disc. When you pop the disc in you should see a dialog box which offers you the choices of "Beginning of Disc" "Last Time Played" and "Cancel". If you hit RETURN, the default is "Last Time Played". What you actually want is "Beginning of Disc".

  • "Not permitted" access to DVD menu once DVD starts playing --Mac DVD player

    Hi,
DVD works fine on standalone DVD player, but when played on an internal Mac DVD player, it won't allow me to stop the disc and go to the menu once it has started playing. It says "Not Permitted." I've tried a couple different macs.
I made my video in FCP5 with chapters and exported as MPEG2 via compressor to DSP 3.0.2. I need the chapters to work correctly on a Mac DVD player as it is an instructional video which will accompany all the Mac Media Carts that have been purchased for our school district -- it has to play correctly on the included laptops.
    Anyone have any ideas?

When you press STOP in the DVD Player, the DVD stops, no longer running. That's the reason that when you try to press MENU appears the Not Permited message: no way to go to the menu because the DVD is not playing.
That's the normal behaviour of the DVD Player. I think that's the way that thinks works in every DVD player . . . "I think".
