DVD Studio burn works on computer, error on DVD Player. iDVD works fine.

I'm a new DVD Studio user. I've spent a few days researching this problem but am running out of answers. I've had no problems using iDVD. I haven't got a successful burn from DVD Studio as of yet. I've used +R and -R and a few different brands of each to make sure that's not the problem.
I've created the movie in FC Pro 5 and exported the movie as a Quicktime Movie. Imported into DVD Studio. Created a menu. Simulator works fine. Pressed Burn. After burn the DVD Player pops up and plays the movie fine. Put it into DVD player and receive an error message.
Bitrate looks to be set at 4.0Mbps - 7.0Mbps, One Pass VBR.
Any advise would be great.

You know what is strange I know a few people who have DVD Players that play thingss from iDVD perfectly, but seem to choke out on DVD SP projects. Actually tried it myself to see (in other words, proper compression etc.), the DVD SP discs fail (though they will play on other machines fine) but the iDVD discs work. And you would htink since iDVD uses PCM audio they would have more issues

Using my new G5 I have the same problem, which I did not know using my old G4 with an external LaCie burner. The CD-Changer in my car is not able to read audio-cds, also my cd-player in my home hifi-system. The only way to play these audio-cds is (strange...) to put them directly in the main tuner of my car (usually used for the navigation cd), not using the Changer.
Maybe the problem really depends on the quality of the CD-Rs. I have used CD-Rs from Sony (it´s a brand, I think?) and will try Verbatim.

I have an iPhone5 bought in late Dec 2012.
I've noticed on rare occassions that the volume down button some times would not respond.
Starting yesterday, the volume down button would not respond more consistently.
Sometimes a reset would fix it, sometimes a reset network would fix it, but the problem would come back.
Came across this thread, and pressing gently on the upper right hand corner fixed it!
I remember seeing some video on Youtube or iFixit that shows how to replace the power button. It appears that the volume buttons and the power buttons are tied in together on the same piece of connector. I supposed taking the iphone in and out of cases may have warped or twisted the connector inside the case ever so slightly that the sensor for the down volume button got shifted.
The down volume button works now, after doing the trick you suggested. I'll wait and see if it comes back before taking it in for warranty repair.

Burning CD-R Verification Error

Hi,
I'm trying to burn a simple 5 track EP to a cd-r which includes ISRC data in Adobe Audition CC.
To do this I've added the audio tracks (.Wavs) to a new CD Layout where I've included the relevent meta-data. I then update the CD Text details in the Properties panel and insert my blank disc so it's ready to burn.
The issue I'm having is that although Audition recognises my blank disc, allows me to start the burn process and seemingly even burns the audio to the disc, the disc verification fails every time it is about to start.
My disc is left with visible data on it (when ejected and to the naked eye) but the computer still sees it as blank. I'm not able to erase the disk within apples 'Disk utilities' service either.
I've gone through 10 disks, trying each combination from changing speed settings, write modes and selecting/deselecting the verify CD and Eject CD checkboxes.
The only combination that has partly worked is if I deselect both Verify and Eject disc. The disc burns fully, it 'Completes Disc' at the end of the process and show the tracks in iTunes, only with incorrect CD and Track data.... I don't know who 'Tanisha Ward' is but it certainly isn't my CD data.
This however is irrelevant as when I eject the disc and then insert it again to test that it reads it appears blank again.
My macs internal burner works fine with iTunes and other apps I have. The reason I am using Audition is due to it's ability to add ISRC data.
Am I missing some important element to this process? Should I be doing something else?
My Computer Details are as follows:
iMac 27inch

4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

I'll take a look at whether my drive supports writing the codes and check to see if there is an update too.
In regards to missing tags, do you mean adding track, artist and album titles to the disc? I did this manually in Audition assuming it would render the data directly to the disc.
Or do you mean that the ISRC would pull the CD data in usually but as it's not been copied to the disc it is essentially missing therefore I'm getting random track suggestions?
If this fails I'll be making a trip to the store today.
Would you recommend Plextor for my system?

After burning DVD, DVD player cannot play main menu

Hi all,
I created a project with a main menu with several links to submenus in Encore. When i take a preview it all looks great. However after burning the DVD, the DVD reader is unable to lanch the CD to it's master main menu (set as first play) and after a long time searching, it starts one of the submenus. There i have a link back to the main menu, but it doesn't seem to work.
I tried this on several DVD players but all has the same problem. I also create a DVD folder on HD, there it works.
I'm pretty sure my DVD burner works fine. Could it be that Encore is using too heavy compression (the avi file is 29Gig and fits on 1 DVD) that can not be use for let's say cheaper version of DVD players? (2 years old).
If not, any other idea where the problem could be ??

you were absolutely right. I was either suspecting the large avi file to be to heavily compressed or my dvd burner but NO...i just bought some TDK 16 DVD-R and the whole thing was solved. Saves me a lot of trouble, no new DVD-R, no new software.... tx mate :)
ps do you know any gud site where i can found some good audio samples which can be used for DVD menus?

If it follow DVD Standard - as it use to be when created in iDVD. You see at least two folders on the DVD
- VIDEO_TS
- AUDIO_TS (empty and must be so)
Then the usual origin to this problem are:
- Brand of DVD used (Many Cheap brands DO NOT WORK as Video-DVDs) - I only use Verbatim
- BURN SPEED - If this is not set down there are LOT's of Burn Errors - Many stand alone DVD-Players can handle this but the Mac is very picky - I always set this down as slow possibly (x2 most often ev. x4 NEVER HIGHER)

I just finished my first DVD, and it won't play in my dvd player; it plays fine on my computer with the DVD player. could it be because the dvd player is about 6 years old?

How did you burn the DVD and what media? That can aalso cause issues, Which version of DVD SP are you using and what machine?

Arabic Aligment does not work fine

I work with Visual Studio 2008 C# and I created a CrystalReport report item. But, when I choose Justify aligment the words go inside each other when I go to preview. But, when I preview using CrystalReport outside Visual Studio it works fine.

Enlargement of DVD player image when DVD is played on an HDTV

I am using iPhoto v. 7.1.3 and iDVD v. 7.0.2 I am trying to export a slideshow from iPhoto into iDVD and playing it as a slideshow on a 16:9 HDTV.
I have made many 16:9 DVDs of our travel pictures using iDVD but imported individual 16:9 copped images from iPhoto (99 to a slideshow) and they have all played okay on our HDTV (small black border around the entire picture, no loss in content), The downside of this approach is that one can only have 99 images per slideshow, thus, to get through all of the pictures, one must return to the opening screen several times, and navigate to other slideshows with the DVD remote.
The idea that a slideshow of any length created in iPhoto and then exported to iDVD would play continuously through all of the images appealed to me.
As a test, I created a small (10 image) 16:9 slideshow (show titles checked) in iPhoto using 16:9 cropped images each with a title. I exported it to iDVD. I created an 16:9 iDVD project, then a slideshow, and dragged the exported movie from my "Movies" folder, into the slideshow, added audio, then moved the slideshow to the gray box in the MAP (so the movie would play on insertion of the disc in a DVD player), clicked on "Professional Grade" and "Always Scale Slides to TV area" in the preferences, and saved as a disc image. When I played the resulting .img file with DVD player, it looked fine so I dropped the Video_TS file in Toast 7.1.3 and burned a disc. When I played it on the HDTV, however, the image was stretched laterally. The image completely filled the TV screen side to side (no small black border along the slides as mentioned above) and the titles in the upper left corner were partially cut off.
I also tried burning the .ing file with Disc Utility, with the same result.
Can someone spot the flaw in my procedure? I can’t understand why I can’t get the same result on my HDTV as I see in DVD player.

Let me give you a 'for instance'.
When I first created a 16:9 DVD with iDVD it looked fine on my computer screen. However, when I played it in my set top DVD player the image on my TV screen wasn't letterboxed as I expected; instead it was magnified with the edges cut off. I got out my set top DVD player manual and noted that the default setting for displaying 16:9 content was 'Pan and Scan' and not 'Letterbox'. I changed my DVD player setting and all is fine.
This happens because iDVD does not set the 'Force Letterbox' flag on the disc. Some people use myDVDedit to modify an iDVD created disk image file to set the 'Force Letterbox' flag. There really isn't any right-or-wrong way to make the disc; it's a matter of personal preference (and some people would rather have the edges cut off than see b;lack bars on the top or bottom.

DVD Player audio track plays slower than Video and at transposed pitch

I have a strange problem with DVD player. I have an opera DVD (not a commercial one - it is from a personal performance and is on a DVD-R disk)) which I put in my Mac Book Pro (OSX 10.5.6)and DVD Player played it fine. I wanted to try to convert the info on the DVD to extract a short section of the DVD. I went to Hand Brake and tried that, it told me I needed to install VLC which I did, Hand Brake then recoded the Files. Now when I insert the DVD though DVD Player starts automatically but plays the DVD audio at a slower speed and transposed lower. I have no idea why this is! Needless to say I do not want it playing slower. VLC also did not work very well with the audio so I have uninstalled the VLC program as it played the VOB files but the sound track was very wonky with the pitch shifting all over the place. How do I return to having DVD Player working properly?

okay, I can help you a little bit. your dvd player (standalone) plays mpeg-2, I think, so
in order for a disk to work in it, both the audio and video have to be combined into a whole package, which i think is video_ts.Using Toast, choose video, then dvd-video then drag n' drop, and it may work. As far as i know, disk utility cannot make video dvd's, but I may be wrong, and you may be right. I used iDVD, but there are probably other programs that may do as good a job of burning. Oh, and this is most important: Some blanks will work ok, and others won't. Verbatim, maxell ( I think) and Taiyo Yuden will work fine. the other ones are a gamble. I think what it's supposed to do is called muxing. I'm sure someone will correct me on this. You could try using "Burn" which is relatively cheap or Handbrake and see if that will do what you want to do. not that it's super important, but the amount of Ram in your machine is helpful too

Audio levels change depending on dvd player

I have exported a 30 minute documentary from IMovie '11 to iDVD and burned it to disc. When I play this on my own dvd player and televison (standard definition) the sound levels are fine. But when the dvd was played on a friend's dvd player connected to a flat screen tv, the sound levels varied considerably. Is there a way to make sure that the DVD plays on all player?. Should I create one iMovie in the HD/widescreen format and export to iDVD and burn that version so that I have one version for SD and one for HD? Can someone explain what causes this variations?

If I put an earlier DVD into the same player, it plays fine. It's only the DVD to which I added additional audio that the DVD player won't play correctly. In other words, the audio in the tracks plays fine, but the audio in the menus doesn't play on the DVD player, but plays fine when using a computer.
I don't want to adjust the DVD player settings, because I want the audio to be present on all setups.
For the audio, it's stereo. I export it as an AIF from FCP and then run that through either APack or Compressor2, to turn it to an AC3.
If it were a DVD Player issue, then an earlier DVD with the same menu audio (that now won't play) shouldn't play, but it plays fine. It's only when I add new audio to the tracks that the DVD player stops playing the old menu audio.

Field Order for Upscaling DVD player

I have a edited HDV project that I have output to DV using the following settings:
Video Compressor - DV NTSC
Field Order: Lower Field First
When I play this on a standard DVD player everything looks fine. The field order looks correct and the object edges look smooth.
However when I play the same DVD in an Upscaling DVD player on an HD TV (720p) there is a "comb effect" around the edges of objects.
I would like the video to play well on both types of setups (non-scaling and upscaling)
What am I doing wrong? What encoder should I be using to get the correct output on both upscaling players and standard?

Downscaling HDV and then upscaling it again for HDTV. Best not to do that and just leave the video HD all the way for HD display.
Get a Blu-ray player is my advice.

Apple dvd player problem

Hi,
I've just spent an age authoring a dvd in dvdsp 4 and the disk looks excellent in everything apart from the apple dvd player. The problem seems to be that after the dvd player plays a video stream it changes its pixel aspect ratio settings to dv rather than square. So the menus all look great until a video is played, after that they all look really pixelated and bad. I have tried the disk in my under the tv dvd player and it looks fine and also VLC on my powerbook and that also looks fine. I have spent lots of time adjusting the original graphics to various sizes and as I said the disk looks fine on everything apart from apple dvd player (and looks fine on that untill a video stream is played).
Any ideas? this is my first post so i'm sorry if it makes no sense.

I myself and a good number of my clients are unable to use Apple DVD Player because of this, the effect is vertical streaks on the screen much like filming the scene during a storm but with green or red rain.
