DVD Studio Pro Autostart Software Issues

I have a finshed project that needs to be burned to disk so that it will automatically start up software any computer or any dvd player upon insertion. Apparently the disks we have created don't automatically start up software in a Windows machine or a Mac. Is there some way of encoding the final project in DVD Studio Pro to make it compatible with all players?

Do not know if this will post properly, but look at this thread

  • Please help! dvd studio pro 3/ m2v issues

    hi,
i have been attempting to burn a simple dvd for 9 hours now. i'm using dvd studio pro 3 on a macbook pro (OS X Tiger); the video assets comprising my dvd studio pro project are mpeg2 files. everything looks beautiful when i simulate the menu within studio pro. then when i build/format, the formatting fails every single time and gives me NO error code, nothing to go on - all it says is "formatting failed".
studio pro 3 can import and play the mpeg2 files, but not build/format the project with them - i'm wondering if this is an obvious compatibility thing with macbook pro. i know macbook pro can't read mpeg2 files on its own (much to my chagrin - a major flaw in my humble opinion but that's a different story) - like, if i were to try to play the file in the quicktime player. but, should i be having this problem when working with the mpeg2 files strictly within the software? final cut pro exported the files just fine, dvd studio pro accepted and can play them - is the dvd drive on a macbook pro unable to write a project with original assets in mpeg2 format even IF, theoretically, these should be encoded by the software prior to burning the dvd?
this is really time urgent as well, so any help would be much appreciated... thanks!

ah, thank you, the mystery about the studio pro 3 is somewhat solved. i've been having problems with it ever since i transitioned to the intel, but strangely it has worked about half the time so i didn't think it was unsupported altogether.
Nope officially unsupported and not to be used on Intel Machines (though of course once in awhile it will work properly, which is almost worse than never working )
i have tried building first then formatting; i have tried everything - formatting first, building/formatting, building first, etc. i have tried 2 different brands of media dvd-r. as for DL with proper layer break, i was reading a bit about that in another thread but i'm not sure what it pertains to exactly... nothing i've done is very complex and it's all been very DIY learn-as-i-go. so... not sure if i'm missing something there.
    thanks
Can you build the DVD? Or will it not even build? (Since it is not a DL do not worry about the layer break, sometimes if making DL DVD and there is no break found it can stall things out)

  • Old Video Material umuxed on DVD studio Pro 4- wierd issues

    Hi,
I am building DVD Studio Projects from old VHS material, which I imported via MPEG Streamclip, to win quite some time (i.e. ENCODING!!)- A Client submitted the video files on a DVD's (used from a DVD/HDD Recorder, from what I could gather from the menu of the DVD's- plain simple Menus with Sony written all over with).
So far so good, I imported the individual video files as seperate m2v and ac3 files, so that I could "re-mux" the video files with DVD studio pro 4 rather easily. All the client wants is a nice menu presentation along with the video files.
Ok, so, I created the menus, and previewed them in DVDSP4, and one thing is striking me- the videos, although old, they have a few "jumpy" sequences in them (with TV snow for a second or so) and when I build & format the project as an imageon my HD, and play the project in the DVD player in OS X, all of the video sequences "freeze" when any kind of video disturbance (in this case the TV snow parts, etc.), but the sound continues, and as soon as the video comes up normally again, the pictures continues in snyc with the audio.
My (rather uncommon) question is- how do I get the DVD Studio Pro 4 Program to ignore those "interferences" and playback the videos smoothly as it has been with MPEG Streamclip? MPEG streamclip has been playing the videos back- including the Video disturbances.
I might be missing something when importing into DVDSP4, but I just can't figure it out...
Thanks in advance for any help!
Feel free to ask questions, I will try to respond ASAP.
    Cheers,
    Dominique

I'm having a similar problem with my menus. They look very jumpy on a tv screen but fine when I play them (as a dvd) on my computer.

  • DVD Studio Pro 4 Scripting Issues

I have been working on a DVD and have only just started to work with scripts. I now want to make a back button go to different menus depending on what the last menu was that was looked at.
    Any suggestions?

Not sure if you mean back buttons such as buttons over video?
You can set the menu command on the remote to go to a script and/or set the end jump of the track (or story) to go to a script. Basically you would make one script that tracks which menu the button was pressed on, put a value in, jump to where you want to go, then jump back.
So from the Menu 1 (or whatever your call it) set the button actions to a script (NOTE all the scripts are not exact in terminology below, just use the script builders for exact syntax from pulldowns)
    mov GPRM 0, 1// moving the value 1 to GPRM 0 , GPRM = 1
mov GPRM 1, SPRM 8// sets GPRM to the value of the button pressed which is in increments of 1024 - button 1 is 1024, button 2 is 2048
    Jump Somewhere if GPRM 1 = 1024
Jump Somewhere Else if GPRM 1 =2048
Menu 2 (or whatever your call it set the button actions to a script
    mov GPRM 0, 2// moving the value 2 to GPRM 0 , GPRM 0 = 2
mov GPRM 1, SPRM 8// sets GPRM to the value of the button pressed which is in increments of 1024 - button 1 is 1024, button 2 is 2048
    Jump Somewhere if GPRM 1 = 1024
Jump Somewhere Else if GPRM 1 =2048
Then the script to go back
    jump menu 1 if GPRM 1 =1
    jump menu 2 if GPRM 1 = 2
Also take a look [here|http://dvdstepbystep.com/trackmarkers.php] for some easier ways to set jumps.

  • DVD Studio Pro 3 Subtitle Issue

I'm authoring a few discs that are meant to be auto play and auto looping. I need to watermark the programs for copyright reasons, so I used the subtitle a subtitle. I clicked the box to force display and then applied to stream. When the program begins the watermark/subtitle is there. If I push stop and then push play again, the subtitle is disabled. If I click the menu or title button, it takes me back to the beginning of the program and the watermark is there again. What is causing the subtitle do become disabled. Aside from going back into FCP and waiting a long time for the files to render or to be limited to 4 second title clips in imovie, I am out of options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted on here or at [email protected]
    Thanks
    DJ

The problem with placing the video in a menu to solve the problem as suggested is you could hit the 1Gb limit on menus...
Not surfe how you've placed your subtitle - is it one long subtitle? If not what might be worth trying is set your subtitle to say 3 seconds long then slectit in the time line and do Cmd+D (if memory serves) to duplicate it until it fills up the timeline. It will "drop out" when you fast forward but then drop back in when it hits the next 3 second interval...
    Hope that makes sense.

  • H.264 not readable in DVD Studio Pro

I'm using compressor for a massive DVD Yearbook. The setting I am using is the H.264 For DVD Studio Pro. However, when importing the converted videos into DVD STudio Pro, the software gives an error saying, "This format is not readable by DVD SP." What gives? If it says H.264 for DVD Studio Pro, why will the program not read a file created specifically for it?

The only format that DVDs read is mpeg 2. H.264 is a great compression, but not DVD compatible.
You can take the original full quality .mov and compress to mpeg2 from that. It'll give you better quailty than compressing an already-compressed file. "Export using compressor" option in FCP is the best choice -- then choose DVD presets when compressor opens.

  • DVD Studio Pro 4 and H264

I used the mastering DVD Studio Pro Tutorial that came with my FCP 5 to make DVDs someone told me that if I used the demo set-up and it worked I could go on using it which has proven to be correct. Now I have a H264 720/1280/2G movie that I want to put into a DVD format. It is the same movie as a previous version I just changed the compression setting because the H264 is much better quality than my old MPEG-2 format which was 348mgs. DVD Studio Pro WILL NOT IMPORT THE H264 format. I erased the old MPEG-2 format but all DVD Studio Pro will accept is the H264 format as a soundtrack. Obviously the H264 has both a movie and the soundtrack together I do not have a separate movie and soundtrack file. Can anyone please give me some advise on as to how I have have DVD Studio Pro input my H264 movie. I would even be happy keeping it as a SD movie if I could just import it and get it into a DVD format. Can anyone please help.

Shawn, the DVD Studio Pro 4 help says that it will accept H264 format. Does that mean that it SHOULD imput it into the DVD Studio Pro 4 Software but it will not BURN IT as an H264 but as an MPEG-2 video and that if I EVER actually am able to input my H264 video and I try to BURN an H264 it will come out poorly and as an MPEG-2 because I will be double compressing my video? Somewhere I read that the best quality input will result in the best DVD output. But if all DVDs will play is MPEG-2 then trying to input anything better than an MPEG-2 will be a waste of time and effort? Sorry for all the questions, I am trying to understand about producing DVDs. Can I get MPEG-2 into a higher quality/sharpness/clarity by compressing it differently?

  • DVD studio Pro compatibility issues in DVD players?

    Greetings folks,
I thought I was done burning DVD's with DVD studio pro of a dance reception I taped last month.   Only tested my product on MAC machines.  When I got a call from the client they said they cannot get them to play on their windows 7 machines.  Is there a certain type of codec/reader they should download?
Or does it sound like I need to bust out the burning discs again?  If that is the case where is the best tutorial for formatting discs so they will play in basically every machine?
    thanks,
    Mike

First make sure you didn't inadvertently burn an HD DVD.  HD DVDs will play in most later model Macs, but not in DVD players or Windows computers.
If that wasn't the issue, ask the client which DVD player software they were using.  Windows Media Player is a terrible app for playing burned DVDs - they need to use an actual DVD player app like WinDVD or Cyberlink's PowerDVD.

  • Issues With DVD Studio Pro 1.5 - MPEG2 Encoding & Building Discs

    Hi.
I'm having problems encoding MPEG2 files in final cut express - everytime I try to encode, final cut closes.
Also, when I go to build and format a disc in dvd studio pro, this also closes.
I have looked at updating dvd studio pro to 1.5.2 and although I have downloaded the .bin file for the update, I don't know how to get it to run. The download is from the following link ( http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120138 )
If anyone could help at all, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Of all the early versions of DVDSP, 1.5.2 was the most stable and you really ought to be using that if you are not going to upgrade further.
V1 was notoriously flaky. I used to chant 'Apple+S' every day when I used it, just to remind me to save... I lost count of the number of hours lost when the app hung or crashed. That version of DVDSP was built on an entirely different code base to the current version. There are still folk who prefer to use V1 despite its faults, but I am not one of them... although I do still run a version of it somewhere.
The upgrade will be straightforward enough. Double click the file you have downloaded and you should get a disc image. Open it and double click on the files inside. Keep your serial number handy, although I don't recall it being needed for a minor upgrade.
You may find that encoding is your biggest hurdle. Back in the day of v1.5 there were very few cheap options open to you. One was to use the Quicktime MPEG encoder, which was a system file you had to install into the QT folder in the system library. Since the system library can't be altered whilst the system is running (i.e. your mac is on) this was a bit of an issue - you either used the terminal app, or booted into target disc mode and used a second mac to put the file into the right location. Sheesh. Alternatively, you used an altogether better encoder - BitVice. These days you have many different options for encoding - try simply exporting from FCE as .mov and encoding in something else entirely. You need to end up with elementary streams -ideally a .M2V and .aiff (for audio). You should also have A.Pack installed on your hard drive. Use this to encode the audio to AC3 (Dolby Digital).
Then bring those assets in to DVDSP and author quickly. Use Apple+S frequently - like every time you make a change. Don't use the preview if you can avoid it, as it tended to crash out more often than not. Build the disc as a disc image and test it in DVDPlayer app.
Of course, for a relatively low cost you can now use DVDSP v3 or 4 (available on eBay most days, I think!) This uses a far more stable code base, a more graphical approach to authoring and has more bells and whistles (not that you'll need them all the time, if ever). It is based on DVD Maestro (PC App) and is very similar to use. Advantages are many and varied compared to V1 but there is a consequential hit on speed IMO. That said, if your mac is anything close to modern (I author mostly on an old G4 still) then you will be fine.

  • What software does apple have to replace DVD Studio Pro

what software does apple have to replace DVD Studio Pro. have a new imac 27" late 2012 and after data transfer DVD Studio Pro does not work. What can I do? Would it be advisable to go back on the OS to a older vision OS Where DVD Studio Pro was working? Help!!!

Afraid they don't have anything to replace DVD SP. Your alternatives are Adobe Encore (which is EOL) or Toast, or IDVD (which can still be found in boxed sets of iLife).
But getting back to DVD SP and your data transfer, what do you mean by that? What exactly did you do and what happened with the application? I'm running it on 10.7 and it works, but it's from the FCS3 suite; is yours FCS2?.

  • DVD Studio Pro 4 (a stand alone product)?  Need advice purchasing BD authoring software

According to Wiki, DVD STUDIO PRO-4 came with the "creative suite" that was discontinued by Apple in 2006.
In 2003-2005 I used DVD Studio Pro-2.  That was THEN.
Now I have now an overkill PowerMac G5, FCPX, and Compressor-4.   My question is what software can I purchase that will burn BLU-RAY disks and give me some menues like DVD Studio Pro?
    Thanks
    -Dale

Okay, I remember the days back in 2003 when using FCP4, DVD Studio2, and Compressor2 there was lots of hoopla about creating great videos -- then (at that time) Apple had no respectable DVD player software -- now (Lion) has DVD player.
In like manner, we have all this hoopla about FCPX, Compressor4, Motion5 --- and no Blu-Ray (BD) authoring software.   If Apple is worth its salt and has their marketing folks read these forums, seems like SOMEBODY would finally GET IT.   This is like building a Rolls Royce without a muffler.
Well, I've answered my own question.   I purchased TOAST-11 to read MTS files to discover it also authors BD.  By clicking "create BD disk" you'll be prompted to purchase & download a $20 plugin.   Does a GREAT job with menus.  Just drag your video & audio files (from compressor) and that's it.
BTY- all the "stink" around FCPX about not being able to import MTS files from disk (this is like building a Ferrari without a gas tank).  Tom W gave a great suggestion to use a product called CLIPWRAP ($50).  So I bought it (converts MTS to MOV without data loss).

  • July 2014 Blu-Ray Authoring Software comparable to DVD Studio Pro

Well, there have been a number of threads related to this question. The biggest problem with ALL of those threads is they get high jacked with people OPINIONS about the need to author Blu-Ray. SO let me start by saying if you intend to replay with "just use a dvd" or "no one uses blu-ray make downloadable content" or whatever your personal opinion is as to why I shouldn't need to author custom Blu-Rays like I could with DVD Studio Pro (DVDSP),  Don't bother posting in this thread. I have a legitimate need with a focused purpose and currently have not found a tool that allows me to do what I need for my business. Although I am getting by with available tools, I am not happy with the product I am giving to customers.
What I would like to find is a blu-ray authoring tool that allows from more than a basic menu and play function. In particular I need my blu-ray to play a short video before showing the menu. In DVDSP, this can be done very easily, but obviously its not HD.
If you know of a current tool, ideally MAC compatible but I am open to a good PC tool. That allows for blue-ray authoring beyond very basic menus like please share it.
Current Software I have tried that don't fit the bill:
Roxio Toast 11 :  only allows for very basic menus
    FCPX: Again only basic menu.
    Compressor: Even Less...
I don't mind spending a a bit on a known good tool, but I don't really want to spend 3000$ to do this simple task either.
Thanks so much for anyone that shares useful information!

I believe Encore is the best option after all my research. It is available once you subscribe to the new Adobe Creative Cloud.
I will say one thing that has worked for me as a blu-ray alternative, is to export the videos into a AppleTV/ iPhone / iPad compatible format (MPEG-4  .m4v) from FinalCut or QuickTime. The format is also windows compatible so it works regardless of the customers computer preference. A number of dvd / blu-ray players also support the m4v format.
I do wish that there was a good Blu-Ray authoring tool for MAC outside of Encore but at least Encore exist for the time being. I do find it interesting that Adobe also chose not to offer an authoring tool in their latest creative suite. If you can afford the 3k the Sony tool is pretty amazing FYI, even though its only PC.

  • Sync Issues and Audio Drop-out from FCP to DVD Studio Pro

I have edited a piece in FCP 5.1.4 and all audio/video is in perfect sync. I have been using this program for several years with no issues, until now. Upon exporting with compressor and importing into DVD Studio Pro, the audio is out of sync by 15 seconds and after that first 15 seconds there is simply NO audio, period.
Any ideas? Please send the calvary...tight deadline and the hanging rope is getting shorter and shorter by the minute!
    Thanks

Could be something got corrupted in DVD SP (preferences). I have had my audio act strangely and playback getting bogged down. Repairing permissions and deleting prefs works for this one for me. Did you do any recent upgrades to the OS or QuickTime?

  • DVD Studio Pro 4.1 color/menu/button issues

I just got the latest version of Final Cut Studio with DVD Studio Pro 4.1 and am having issues with menus and buttons. For some reason no matter what I do to the color settings my menus are always gray and the buttons never reflect the color changes I make. Am I missing something?

Hi - welcome to the discussions!
Could you be a little more specific here... for example, when you say the menus are always gray, do you mean when you use the menu editor or after you have built a disc? Button colours are set in several ways... what is the workflow that you are using?

  • What web design software is equivalent to dvd studio pro?

is there a program that someone uses thats functionality is based on dvd studio pro?

    That's an odd question.
Web design is vastly different to DVD authoring - chalk and cheese, really. If you are after a web development platform that allows events to happen on a timeline basis, then Dreamweaver will do this. It also allows for navigational links to be set up that go to any part of a web site.
But then, so do most web development environments worth looking at... what exactly is it that you are after?
