DVD Templates

I have created a couple of DVD templates for use in Premiere Elements 2. How do I add the "actions" to the text/buttons that I want to use for my menu selections. I can create them in the DVD Template wizard but I am not happy with the results from this. In other words how can I get Premiere Elements to recognise the layers in my .PSD file as buttons.
I can see the templates I have created in Premiere Elements but it just says they are invalid.
Please can someone help me as my wife is getting impatient waiting for her video and I really want it to look as good as possible.
Thanks a lot

  • No DVD templates in Premiere Elements 2

I have been using PE2 with good results for a couple of years now on my old PC but recently upgraded my hardware and transferred PE2 onto my new machine (still running XP Pro as did my old PC). In my latest project, the first on this machine, I came to the stage of adding DVD menus today and found that the themes drop-down box was empty.
Had a problem installing a new codec a few days ago and used system restore. Somehow, I ended up with 2 copies of PE2 there at the same time and I wonder if this may have done something nasty to PE2.
Anyway, I have uninstalled and re-installed PE2 but still no joy. I can see the DVD templates in the PE2 folders but PE2 can't seem to see them.
    Can anyone help please?
    E.

Well I think I've now solved this one, though I've no idea how it came about.
I fired up my old PC, which, fortunately, I haven't cleared off the old stuff yet and looked at the PE2 file structure. Whereas, on the old PC the template theme folders were in a folder called en_US inside the DVD templates folder, on the new PC, the theme folders were directly in the DVD templates folder.
I created the en_US folder, moved the theme folders over and, hey presto, they appeared in PE2.
Very odd! How is this possible?
Anyway, it looks like the problem is now solved but thanks anyway.

  • How can I edit a DVD Template for Premiere Elements 10?

In previous versions of Premiere Elements, I would edit DVD Templates using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements to include my logo and change the color or tint of the background. Now, I can only see the Fun template in the DVD Templates folder. I want to modify the Extreme Sports template, but can't find it now. Where are all the other templates located?

Install the excellent 'Search Everything' utility and enter 'extreme' as a search term. Note that when you first run 'Everything' it takes time to index your drive(s). After that though it is a nearly instantaneous start.

  • Is it possible to create DVD Templates with Motion for burning Blue Ray DVDs from Final Cut Pro X?

Is it possible to create DVD Templates with Motion for burning Blue Ray DVDs from Final Cut Pro X?

As far as I know, motion templates can only be used with DVD Studio Pro. FCP X only lets you add a background image to the DVD menu.

  • Changing target directory of sound effects, DVD templates etc.

My Adobe Premiere 13 works fine but I want to change the target directory of sound effects, DVD templates etc. Default setting is C:\ .... In Adobe Organizer such option is not offered. How can I change this target directory?

    newbie Sue
Premiere Elements 13/13.1 have content download located in the Online Folder...
    Please see
    Local Disc C
    Program Data
    Adobe

    Online
and in the Online Folder are the DVD Templates and Sound Effects Folders.
I have found that once deleted the Online Folder will regenerate in the same place from which it was deleted.
So, try it if you must, but I would discourage you from doing so.
Please explain what the Elements Organizer has to do with all this. Are you trying to get Sound Effects and Movie Menus into the
Elements Organizer Create Slideshow feature? Cannot do.
Please give more details and I will think about this some more. My first impression that you are targeting cannot do goals.
    Thanks.

  • How do I get PE 8 to accept Costom DVD templates form PE 4?

Is there any secret to get PE 8 to accept custom DVD templates created and used by PE4?

    Steve,
It didn't work.  All I get when I call up the main menus and scene menus are
blank rectangles, with the proper title names, but they lack a visual
    component.
Here is a brief, but detailed, explanation of what I did prior to PE8.
I created the original customized DVD templates using PE2 and the compatible
Photoshop version.  I took an existing template from PE2 and replaced the
background with a photo that complimented the DVD.  When I saved the
templates, Photoshop created a 'CUSTOM' folder in PE2's DVD templates
folder.  The naming convention was (is) XXX_ntsc_mm.psd and
XXX_ntsc_sm.psd..I was able to use the customized templates for the
appropriated DVDs.  I was able to place the entire 'CUSTOM' folder into PE4
when I upgraded to that version of Premier Elements.  I was able to display
and use the newly placed custom templates and they worked without any
    problem.
I placed the 'CUSTOM' folder in C:\PROGRAM FILES\ADOBE\PREMIER ELEMENTS
8.0\DVD TEMPLATES\COMMON\GENERAL\CUSTOM .  There are several other template
files in the COMMON\GENERAL folders.  When I viewed the other template
folders, I noticed that most of the other templates had a .PSD suffix.  When
I try to use the 'CUSTOM' folder in the menu portion of PE8, I can find the
folder by name (CUSTOM), but then I look for any visual, all I get is a set
of blank rectangles.  The blanks cannot be dragged to the space intended for
the menu visual.  It almost seems as if I will have to recreate the custom
folder in Photoshop 5, if that one is compatible with PE8.
Does you book go into any level of detail addressing this quirky type of
    situation?
    Thanks for listening,

  • Blank DVD Template in Prem. Elements for Mac

Years ago when I was a Windows user I LOVED using Premiere Elements to import and edit home videos. The editing, chaptering etc was so easy and I I was really happy with the final product. One thing I really liked was when I created the DVD menus etc I had access to a blank DVD template so I could use my own background picture etc. I never cared much for the "themes". Is there a way with the new prem elements for MAC to have a blank DVD template?

As usual and as I remember you to be you are so helpful! What I would like is to have to custom templates. The first would be just a generic background where I could insert my own picture. I don't use video link boxes or anything so I prefer the links to the "menu markers" to be just text. For instance, say I am making a DVD of a theatre performance. I would like a general "play all" button that will play the entire performance. I would also use a "Act 1" button and a "Act 2 button". I do chapter each scene but to avoid having 10 pages of "scenes" I'd prefer the "scenes" to not be accessible from the main menu. Most every DVD from theatre to concerts to home movies I do like this. I only like to have one main menu menu. No submenus. I used to have 1 custom template that did that. The second one would be exactly the same but would offer a "scenes" button in the instance I did want to add a "scene" menu as well. I really, really hope this makes sense.....
And I don't want to come across as crazy, but when I installed the demo on PE9 on my mac, I only have one template called "fun" and I can't change the background image. There is a little dropbox within the menu that I can add a video or pic, but that's only a small hole in the template, the rest of the background I can't change. I'd be happy to take a screen cap if I am not describing it correctly...
Short story long, it sounds like Steve both templates you said are for free on your site will do what I am needing to do. How do I go about downloading them?

  • DVD template

    Hello.
This is my first time here.
I am usually in Premiere Elements 2.0 forum.
I am trying to make a DVD template using the Family Memories template in Photoshop elements 4.0.
On step 2 of customizing template you can click browse to insert a family picture of your own into the template.
The problem I'm having is even when I resize picture much smaller it allways seems to show wrong size in template.
Instead of showing my family I only see my wifes elbow and the right side of my daughters face.
How can I get a picture in there?
    Thanks
    Rich

    Rich,
I don't see a way to resize the image during template creation, but you can
    handle it afterward.
Once you have save the template, click the PSE4 menu File > Open Recently
    Edited File.
You should see two .psd files at the top of the list with the name you gave
your template. The one you want ends with "mm", meaning Main Menu. The
    "sm" is the Scenes Menu.
Click the file on the list to open it in the PSE4 Editor. Once opened, look
in the Layers palette, and scroll down to the very bottom. You will see a
layer named "background". Click it in the Layers palette to select it.
Then use either Free Transform or the Move tool to adjust the size, position
    and rotation of your image.
When finished, save the file and overwrite the original.
    HTH,
    Byron

  • Can I use PrE 11 HD DVD templates for PrE 12?

    Hello,
I have PrE 11 and just installed PrE 12.  I am wondering (hoping) that I can use the PrE 11 HD DVD templates that I have already downloaded for my PrE 12 installation.  It is unfortunate that Adobe now makes us download these templates as not everyone has a lightning fast internet connection.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

I have an important add on for the Premiere Elements 11 user who goes on to Premiere Elements 12 and wants to use the Premiere Elements 11 saved Online Folder (complete) as a replacement for the Premiere Elements 12 Online Folder (incomplete) to avoid the same slow Content download experience of Premiere Elements 11.
This not going to be a one on one swap of the whole Premiere Elements 12 Online Folder (incomplete) with the whole saved Premiere Elements 11 Online Folder (complete).
The 11 and 12 Online Folders are the same, except for the two new folders within the 12 Online Folder.
    So, consider:
    Premiere Elements 11 Online Folder
    Clips Arts Folder
    DVD Templates Folder
    Movie Themes Folder
    Title Template Folder
    but
    Premiere Elements 12 Online Folder
    Clips Arts Folder
    DVD Templates Folder
    Movie Themes Folder
    Title Template Folder
    Music Scores Folder (NEW)
    Sound Effects Folder (NEW)
Details are included my blog post where I tried to put this information together.

  • Premiere Elements Quits After Using DVD Template

I have been using Adobe Premiere Elements 10 for a few months while working on a project.  I finally finished and when dragging over the DVD template, the program just quits due to a "serious error."  I am very frustrated.

    filmguy96
After you have responded to SG's questions, I have a few to ask.
What specific DVD Template theme are you trying to use in your Premiere Elements 10 project?
    When you wrote
The program will just crash as soon as i try to drag dvd template into a project
Can we assume that you were using your mouse cursor to drag from the DVD Template thumbnail to the left into the Disc Menu window? If so, what happens if instead you click on the thumbnail to select it and then hit Apply. Same crash problem? In between tries to apply menu, are you hitting AutoPlay to get rid of the prior try before you try again?
How many Timeline menu markers do you have on your Timeline - main menu markers, scene markers, and stop markers?
How about taking a look at deleting the Premiere Elements 12 settings file...
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    10.0
and in the 10.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 10.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Make sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
    Thanks.

  • Create PRE 10 DVD Templates from Scratch

The free DVD Templates that come with PRE 10 are layered Photoshop files. Is there anyplace I can find the specifications for creating them from scratch in PS for use in Premiere Elements?

The book is available now. In print only though.
I've got to get the webmaster to update that page!
You can also order the book directly from Amazon.com by clicking here.

  • DVD templates- any more?

does anyone know where I can buy a few more dvd studio pro templates? does apple offer any for download?

Do a quick search for DVD templates to see the other threads and people may have found some sites that they prefer, though none particularly jump out in my mind. (Part of the issue is many people make their own for DVD SP.)
Definately check out the first couple of links in the google search, some nice looking ones there. I am not sure there is a one size fit all package, from the times I looked it would look like one is okay in a package but maybe not the others.

  • *** HD-DVD template for regular widescreen DVD project?

I have a sample of HDV projects that I have converted to .m2v in DVDSP in order to show on DVD. For now, I have to use a DVDSP template as the background menu. I'm not happy with how the menu looks on my widescreen LCD tv so I'm wondering if it's possible to use one of the HD-DVD menu backgrounds even though the video content of m project is .m2v. Will this make the menu screen look better or will the DVD have problems loading in a regular DVD player?
    Thanks in advance!

The HD content is a different physical size and I would think that if DVDSP lets you import it as an asset, then it will certainly re-scale it for you to be a legal SD size.
You might be better doing this yourself and controlling the re-scaling more precisely... otherwise things could get ugly!

  • CD/DVD template Adobe Elements 8

Whenever I want to print on a full face printable CD or DVD I use Photoshop Elements to create the design.  To ensure that everything is kept within the outer and inner diameters of the DVD (e.g. to avoid the central hole from being near a person's face!), I suspend a piece of thin glass in front of my computer screen, on which I've drawn around an old DVD disk, I then create my design looking through the glass.
Instead of using this rather cumbersome way of doing it, I believe it is possible to create the same sort of transparent image template in Photoshop Elements.   I have tried to work out how to do this without success and the Photoshop Elements manual (page 7) only tells what you CAN do, but not the actual procedure as shown below right.
Could someone please tell me how to do it.
    Thank you.

  • Creating DVD Templates buttons for use in Premiere Elements

I have tried to create buttons for use in the "DVD create template" function.
Everything goes fine apart from the fact that, when I add the button (within the wizard) it becomes part of the background.
Does anybody out there know if it is possible to create new buttons in PE4.0 and, if yes, how to do it?
    Thanks

Even though this function is in PS Elements 4, I suggest that you look in the Premiere Elements forum where you might find an existing thread on this topic. If not, ask your question there because the primary audience for this function is people who have both products.
