Dvd and Bluray not working HELP !

when I insert a dvd or bluray into my laptop it asks for upgrades. When i click on it does not work . i went to troubleshoot clicked on media support and went on the website . there were comments and posts about the same problem . one of the posts said that it worked when u install the HP Mediasmart DVD software well its not working !!! IT ACTUALLY ENABLED MY DVD AND BLURaY USAGE! i need to know how to unistall the HP Mediasmart DVD software and get w,e updates my computer was asking for !!! plssss help meee !!

Imovie to dvd or bluray

using imovie - I want to burn to dvd or bluray. Toast is not working so please give another suggestion.
itunes will not burn to dvd where a dvd player will recognize so please don't suggest that.
Any other ideas?

You can create your HD movie in iMovie 11.
However, you will also need Disk Authoring software that can burn a BluRay disk.
I recommend an App called Toast Titanium. You will also need the BluRay plugin.

You can also burn a BluRay playable disk from Apple's Compressor app, but it will be a very simple disk with no menu structure.
With both Toast and Compressor, you can burn short BluRay movies to a regular DVD using a regular DVD burner. These will be playable in a BluRay player. With a BluRay burner, you can do longer movies, or fit more movies (or data) on a single disk.
As an aside, these are not real BluRay disks. A BluRay disk like you buy in a store is heavily licensed, and you need press runs of 1000 or more. They are totally impractical for home use. What programs like Toast do is to burn the BluRay media using AVCHD format. It turns out that most BluRay players can read AVCHD data streams, and you don't have to deal with the BluRay licensing.
If you are doing this for home use, I would recommend that you consider the Apple TV. It is a lot more convenient than BluRay.

They are DVDs with video files from a little more than 2 GB per file, were burned in Snow Leopard, with UDF file system, now that I updated to Mavericks when I try to read disks displays the directory in the finder a moment and then disappear and does not display them show them more. It is impossible to read the discs, but only those who were burned with UDF file system. Thank you for your help.

DVD+R works on Mac and Playstation but not a DVD or Bluray Player

I converted old VHS tapes to DVD for my Grandma, and I checked to make sure they worked using my Mac and Playstation. When I gave it to her neither her DVD or Bluray Player reads it. Is there a way to fix this? Also I had converted a wedding to dvd (using the same DVD+R) and the person said it works fine on their DVD player.
So do I need to own both +R and -R?

Found a solution to the problem. The permissions for the firefox.app file were not set to admin - read-write. After adding this permission using the get info menu item when right clicking the file name in the applications folder, the tab now automatically opens when clicking on Email link.

I finished my project and have it on DVD and Bluray. Now I want to free up disk space by deleting everything that had to do with the project including event clips. Does 'moving to trash' accomplish that?

Yes, selecting "move to trash" from within FCPX will free up disk space.
I "Move Project To Trash" first.
Then "Move Event To Trash" secondly.
To totally free up disk space, you will of course need to empty out your trash as you would per any other unwanted file you've sent to the trash can.

Option to choose DVD or Bluray optical drives

Does "DVD Studio 4" have any way of selecting which optical drive to use for a burn? I have a DVD burner and Bluray burner. I can't get it to always pick the DVD burner when I want it?
any help would be appreciated seeing as I paid a grand for this suite of products

DVD SP 4 will not make blu-ray discs (the newest Studio has some limited ability to do blu-ray, but not DVD SP 4)
What you should be able to do is go to Format in the drop down to target it

Schlechte Qualität bei Ausgabe von DVD und Bluray in Encore CS6

Guten Tag
Ich muss für ein Schulprojekt dringend eine DVD UND eine Bluray brennen.
Wie bekomme ich hier nun die beste Qualität hin?
Der Film ist praktisch fertig, doch beim Ausgeben des Films via Dynamik Link in Encore, kommt eine miserable Qualität heraus.
Ich habe 1920x1080 50p als Quelle.
Ich kann ja auf Bluray nur 25p ausgeben, weshalb mir beim H.246 Blu-ray Format schon automatisch oberes Halbbild angegeben wird. Progressiv kann ich gar nicht erst einstellen.
Auch wenn ich die DVD in Standart Format rendere, jedesmal wenn ich mir die Bilder nacher anschaue habe ich eine richtig miese Qualität. Das geht von verpixelten Bildern bis zu "Streifen" im Bild (wahrschienlich von den "erzwungenen" Halbbildern).
Ich habe fast alle Formate und Einstellungen durchprobiert und weiss auch nicht, was es genau mit diesen Bitraten auf sich hat, da ich noch sehr "neu" beim Filme produzieren bin.
Wie schaffe ich es eine Bluray zu brennen, welche eine gleich gute Qualität wie die Bilder meiner Cam (auch 1920x1080 bei 50p) und eine DVD ohne Pixelrennen zu brennen?

Das wird irgendwie an den beiden Halbbildern (PAL) liegen. Deshalb sieht man den Fehler nicht am Computer.
Kannst du nicht das DVD-T Material außerhalb von Encore nach MPEG2 für DVD entcoden? Also mit einem anderen Programm?
DVD-T ist ein anderes MPEG2-Format als bei DVD.

Right now blu-ray noot supported on the Mac. You can make a HD disk (sort of) from DVD SP 4 - either burning from your computer to standard DVD-R/+R (with limits) or mastering as an actual HD project (but not with all the Bells & Whistles of full blown HD)and can write that out to a drive. You would need to make sure your project settings are red laser for the former or blue laser for the later. You would also need to check with the replicator for how they work to make sure it works for them. This is still new territroy to some degree.
Also dvdafteredit(.com) will have a HD mastering tool out sometime in the neaar future.
You would need to encode as an HD m2v stream, with aif audio, then place it in an HD project in DVD SP.
If you do a search for Toshiba HD you will find some threads discussing the workflow and also issues.

For greater storage, is it possible to burn with Enclore regular dvd material to blueray dvd? And, can you mix sd and hd on that blueray media?

The success in the mixing of SD into an HD, BD Project, will depend on the look that you want. If you want the black bars (Letterboxing if you have Widescreen), then you can probably get by fine.
If you wish to up-rez your SD to HD, you might have more success with a plug-in, like Red Giant's Magic Bullet Instant HD. Check the compatibility with your NLE program. There are other such programs/plug-ins.

I recently replaced my Pavillion G7 1261nr with a Pavillion G7 2269wm. I want to know if I can take the Bluray from the 1261nr an put it in the 2269wm? I coulnot find an affordable replacement with bluray and I use my laptop for tat frequently. Thanks

Do the faceplates look the same? They are the same interface (SATA) and you should be able to pull the drive out of the old laptop and slide it into the new.

Bluray Project Output to DVD

I am working a Premiere project that will be output to DVD or Bluray. I exported a timeline as H264 Bluray and created a Bluray Encore project. I see that I could change the export format from Bluray to DVD, but I am curious to know how Encore calculates the disk info. I assume the H264 media will be transcoded from one compressed format to another. How does this affect quality? I would prefer to export DVD from a Bluray project than to create an identical project for DVD.
I would also like to know if this is the best way to output to DVD while maximizing quality. Prior to CC, I dynamic linked the Premiere project to Encore and it would calculate disk size automatically. If I now have to do it myself, it seems very time consuming way to go. In my case, the media will exceed DVD size limitations. If so, which of the Premiere export parameters are safe to tweak in order to size down the files to fit the DVD?

DVD / BluRay Authoring

Since this is a discussion I am asking a question.
Why has Adobe abandoned Encore? I know we can still use the CS6 version but the work flow is a pain and the work flow is counter to the way other programs work with each other.
Now if I want to edit a menu in photoshop I must first open an old version of photoshop, CS6, otherwise CC 2014 opens but the menu never opens in it.
This of course is on top of the fact I can no longer link right to Encore from Premiere or AE and that sucks.
Really I am sure that not everyone who is buying into the cloud is only uploading finished product to a web site.
How many wedding videographers out there no longer provide a DVD or Bluray disc? My guess is most all of them still do.
I now produce DCP's for performances but I still have to also create DVD and Bluray discs to be sent to panelists or to our archive or other that ask for them. I now have to take longer to produce them and as we all know time is money.
I feel Adobe should be providing the full box of tools to the content creators that have made it a very rich company.
Your thoughts?

Maybe I did not make my point.
Adobe should have a program like encore that does that job. We should not have to go outside of adobe for a program. We pay for a complete design software environment where we can do everything from within the creative cloud. That has been the hype from adobe all these years and until encore was abandoned and not replaced with something else.
I just saying adobe can build great software and it gets better all the time and I love working with it but I do not love this aspect of what they have done and I think they need to do as the guy on SNL used to say, "Just Fix IT!"

Compare Bluray and Dvd Chapters and Scrolling still text

Question 1:
Using PremierePro CS5 to set some Encore-Markers and DynamicLink to Encore to create menu:
Using the same project, the behaviour is quite different:
for Dvd : Encore-markers behave like Chapters, so I can use the player remote control to go to next chapter (even it is not defined in the menu)
that is very handly function.
for Bluray : Encore-markes behave like Titles and not Chapters, so I cannot use the player remote control to jump to next Encore-markers
I just looking for references to understand and do the correct ajustments.

Using PremierePro CS5 to add a still picture and scroll it up in slow motion:
Using the same project, I understand that Bluray is far better than DVD:
for Bluray : the scrolling of the still picture is smooth (it's very pleasant with texts too)
for Dvd : the scrolling is jumpy (texts are dizzy and not readable)
Is there any fix for that (.....something like PremierePro option to smooth it out a little (result little burry) or ... something like ...deinterlacing ?)

POINT 1:
I will skip DynamicLink for circumventing some issues for sure, but it is so handy and makes me lazy to do things fast.
So far I am using DynamicLink for updating still images in menu with Photoshop and it's working fine.
Also I have tried sucessfully modifying some assets using AfterEffect. Yes, there are ressources demanding since I have a skinny 12 Gigs RAM.
POINT 2:
I have to be more specific in comparing Encore-Bluray and Encore-Dvd (I am not comparing HD with SD).
I just want to see the big picture comparison (equivalent between Encore-Bluray and Encore-Dvd) instead of "TRY-AND-SEE"
Let me explain:
1. Encore-Marker set in PremierePro-CS5 is consider as Chapter in Encore-Dvd)
2. The final DVD created: I can use the remote control to jump to next Chapter even the Chapter is not referenced anywhere in Encore-Dvd
3. Encore-Marker set in PremierePro-CS5 is consider as Title in Encore-Bluray) (the same Encore-Marker)
4. The final Bluray created: I cannot use the remote to jump because there is only one Chapters but many Titles.
When I am on the last step, of Encore-CS5-Build-Dvd or Encore-CS5-Build-Bluray, i expect to get the same result when playing the Bluray of Dvd
with the Player (Home DVD Player or Home Bluray Player and absolutely no PC )
WHAT ELSE IS DIFFERENT BETWEEN THOSE TWO FORMATS? for the same project in ENCORE-CS5
(I need that information to explain to the end users)
for now, I just try-and-see and take notes.

Encore Media CC does not give me the option to burn bluray or DVD

I have the Premier Pro and Encore Media CC version. The problem is I can not burn DVD or Bluray vesion as before with CS4. Try lowering the encore CS6 and no achievement. I'm working with HD videos of 60 minutes. Encore CC does not give me the option to burn bluray or DVD

@dynamite,
The applications panel doesn't allow you to change the behavior in application files. There you can only change settings for PDF files, IRC client, Windows Media Audio, Windows Media Video and ZIP files. That's it.
