DVD will not burn in Studio Pro 2

I am somewhat confused. I have burned DVD's for several years without a problem, but now when trying to burn a dvd it does Muxing track, then when it goes into "Recording", it doesn't. It just tells me the Media had found a Power Calibration error. I have tried reloading the software, but it still does it.
Can anyone help?

That message is nothing to do with DVD SP.
Try a different burner or disc brand.

Try downloading and running the imgburn program.  Google it.  It is free and will burn CDs and DVDs.

  • DVD WILL NOT BURN IN IDVD

Trying to burn a project in IDVD, goes through the entire process up to "Writing Lead-In" and about 6 minutes left, the disk is ejected automatically. When put back in process gets hung up. Have also saved as a "Disk Image on my desktop and plays with no issues via the DVD software. When I select to burn to Disc, within 1 minute disk is ejected and this message comes up "The Disk can"t burn, because the device failed to calibrate the Laser Power for this Media". Is this a software or hardware issue? Or something else

  • DVD will not burn but CD will

I have a PowerBook G4 and a G4 desktop. The DVD burner on the desktop is an upgrade. Recently both machines have stopped burning a DVD but will still burn a CD. Both machines run 10.3.9. Is it possible that software updates may have updated the machines and interfered with the ability to burn DVDs? I just have a hard time believing that both machines would break about the same time.

I kept reading and found one reply to someone elses problem that was a fix to mine.
In System Preferences I selected open finder. That was all.
I tried it because it was easy and I hade recenty reinstalled the system in the laptop. It was already selected on the desktop but I changed it and reselected open finder there also and they both now work. Hurray!!!

  • Burning only ones and next DVD will not burn

I never had a problem, now I can burn only first DVD (70min). The next DVD it's normally should take not more than 20 min. The setting speed is "Best". After inserting the DVD it runs hours and nothing happens. I have to force the iDVD to quit. I am using Verbatim DVD-R
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The BEST way to make multiple copies is with a disk image. You create a disk image from iDVD (an option under FILE) and then use Apple's Disk Utility or Roxio's Toast Titanium to make as many discs as you want. Using the disk image approach, you can reduce the burn speed to 4x or lower (Disk Utility and Toast both offer this feature, iDVD 6 doesn't) which will make your burned discs more compatable with set top DVD players.

  • Re-Install of 10.4.6 from original DVD will not complete on MacBook Pro

I purchased a new MacBook Pro 15" laptop around Oct 1, 2006 and I am now unable to use it.
It came with 10.4.6 installed. I updated the system to 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 using update packages directly from the Apple site. Then I ran a Security Update to 10.4.8 and nothing has worked right since.
I tried using Disk Utility in every way and was always able to repair with no errors found. I tried to troubleshoot various applications to see if they were the issue with no improvement. The ultimate problem was the entire system would freeze and would have to be rebooted. Sometimes the system would boot up, sometimes the apple and gear would run and then a circle with a line through it would replace the apple symbol. Sometimes I would get the dreaded blinking folder with question mark. Most of the time rebooting could eventually get you to the desktop, but the system never worked for longer than 15 to 30 minutes.
So, I decided to reinstall 10.4.6 from the install DVD that came with my computer. I cannot get 10.4.6 re-installed. I have used disk utility to erase, repair, partition and so on and after a few tries it repairs succesfully.
I ran the Hardware test and it says no trouble found.
The install log ends with the following three errors:
    1. unable to copy package source file OSInstall.dist to destination reciept ...
    2. unable to copy package source file archive.bom to destination reciept
    3. Install failed: Some Files for Base System may not have been written correctly.
I am at the end of my rope. Please help. Thanks!

I agree...bad drive or bad controller or even a bad connection. Hardware issues on computers still under warranty should be dealt with by Apple. Even though you have already run the hardware test, there could still be a hardware problem. You could try booting from a disk repair utility like Disk Warrior but that means you would have to buy the utility and that's money you should not have to spend on a machine that is still covered by warranty.
There is one other thing you could try and that would to try and boot the computer into "safe mode" and try everything discussed in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Also, if you have access to another Mac, you could try booting your computer into target disk mode and then run disk repair from the other computer. Also, if you computer boots into target disk mode, you can copy any vital data and files before you hand it over to Apple for repair.

  • 10.5.4 retail install DVD will not install on macbook pro

I have a retail OSX Leopard DVD
    version 10.5.4
    2Z691-6232-A
I am trying to do a clean install of the OS on a Macbook Pro 5,2
Intel Core 2 Duo  2.8GHz/ 4GB of memory
The machine is currently running 10.5.8. The OS currently installed on the machine in question was originally installed from the same disk.
This is a company machine & the company I work for purchased the DVD and the changing the startup disk has always worked in the past.
There shouldn't be any sort of sketchy I borrowed this disk from my step-brother's cousin's wife.
The disk mounts on the desktop.
When I change the starup disk to the DVD and restart nothing happens. The system restarts but does not do it from the boot DVD.
When I hold down the c key during reboot the machine goes into a booting loop but never boots.
    startup tone/30 seconds(no apple screen)/startup tone, etc.
It seems like there is a problem with the DVD even though it mounts on the desktop.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for responding.
I'm sorry I wasn't clear. The disk was never borrowed.
The disk was bought by a business. Only used by the one business and it didn't come with a computer because it was bought online by one busines who has always kept the disc in their possession.  We have used this disc numerous times to reinstall 10.5.4 on a number of our machines.
The disc in question is black like the box that is comes in. In my experience OS discs before 10.6 (especially retail discs) are not linked to a machine so this has nothing to do with the wrong disc.

  • Multi-plexing Error-DVD will not burn

How do I get rid of errors? There are none that show up on the map view. This is a 6.0 theme, no music, one QT file with chapter markers. Thanks for any help you can give. I have tried about six times.

Made a few minor changes, but major change was to go from Best Performance to Professional Quality.
There's a bug with iDVD that causes problems when a movie is edited and then the probject is re-encoded and burned.  The best route to take is create a new project, add the edited movie and go from there.
Also I suggest you follow this recommended workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums because they have a higher concentration of dye in the burn layer than other brands.

  • DVD will not burn

I created a project using iDVD. When I try to burn it to a disc, it goes through all the processes, but when it gets to the last one (i.e. burning) it just continues to spin and never ends. I've been using the same brand name disks (Verbatim) for years with no problem. I've also been using iDVD for years with no problem. I tried deleting preferences and doing a permissions repair. That didn't make a difference. Please help.

Another possibility is that you may have exceeded the 15 minute motion menu duration in your menu drop zones and backgrounds. This can prevent a DVD from burning. You can check this in the Project Info screen (from the Project menu, choose Project Info). If the Motion Menus bar is red, then you will need to reduce the amount of media in your motion menus.

  • Dvd will not eject on macbook pro

how to make a dvd eject

    Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • DVD is Not Burning in DVD Studio Pro

DVD is Not Burning in DVD Studio Pro 4.2.0

I used build and format approach. Both discs play fine on computer platforms, but not on a consumer DVD connected to the TV. Normally I have no problem. I checked and rechecked several times all the preferences for Studio Pro. The only thing I noticed was instead of generating a Video and Audio TS file, it generated one HVDVD_TS file. Is this the issue? If so,where do I correct this (in the settings)?
    Thanks

  • My DVD will play DVD's but will not burn from FCP

my DVD will play DVD's but will not burn from FCP also the Finder does not recognize when I load a black DVD

    You need DVD burning/Authoring software.
EIther iDVD or Roxio Toast or try freeware burning software Burn for OS X.
iDVD is no longer available, but the last complete version that still works comes with Apple's iLife '09 apps.
You would need to search for this on online sites like Amazon to see if you can still purchase.
You install the iDVD app and all the authoring themes by doing a custom install of the disc and ONLY installing the iDVD app and iDVD themes.
Here are a few copies of this for sale on Amazon U.S. site.
