DVD won't run in Windows

I have a Phillips DVD on which I saved some photographs some years ago and I now need to use them but the DVD is not recognised by my Desktop (Windows 7) or my Laptop (Windows 8). Any suggestions, please?

Not using Boot Camp, but you should be able to using virtualization software such as Parallels to run Windows concurrently with OS X.

I agree with Doc, but there may be a work around. Actually, your best solution is to just buy AA XI. The work around depends on what you mean by does not work. Do Acrobat and Distiller both install and appear to function? Is the problem one of not being able to print? If both of these answers are yes, then you can install an independent PS printer (maybe one from Adobe or one of the HP color PS printers), change the name to Adobe PDF for your use (not required), and change the port to FILE. Then to create a PDF you would print to that printer and open the file created in Distiller to create a PDF file. May or may not work. However, AA6 is so old, it is likely to cause other problems, even if this process works. If nothing else, it will not open some of the newer PDFs that are being created today (at least I would guess that will be the case). So buying XI is really in order.
Other issues that may crop up will be activation (will likely fail) and updates that have to be obtained from the FTP site and not the web.

HP Utility won't run in Windows 7

The HP Utility application for an HP Designjet Z3200 won't run in Windows 7. I browse to the application and nothing happens when I try to open it. I've rebotted several times as well as uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of the app downloaded from HP.
Anyone have any clues as to why this is happening?

Flash Player won't run. Windows 7, IE9, Firefox 16.01. I use the flash player uninstaller, make sure there are no flash player sub-folders reinstall current version, says installed .. no "video" no box, no info. redone several times both in Firefox and IE

Did you install both the ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) and plugin (for Firefox)? And both browsers show the same problem?

Itunes installer won't run in Windows 7

I am trying to install the latest version of itunes on my new laptop and the installer won't run. It is a samsung sereis 7 notebook running Windows 7.
I have downloaded itunes multiple times and tried running as administrator. I do not get any error, and occasionally a progress bar will flash up on screen for a couple of seconds but then nothing happens. Other times I don't even get the progress bar, just nothing happens when I try to open the installer.
Would appreciate any help with this problem. Its driving me crazy not being able to add new music to my ipod!

FrameMaker v7.2p144 won't run on Windows 7

We have finally swapped out our older machines for new ones that run Windows 7. After reinstalling FrameMaker v7.2 (we have a client who has no interest in upgrading from v7.2), I attempted to install the patches, starting with p144, but it won't run. Might this be a compatibility issue with the newer OS? Regardless, is there a workaround? Thanks, Monica

Windows 7 has a compatibility setting - I'm not sure where to find it, but a Google search should turn it up. You can set it for earlier Windows versions, like XP.

Random exe-files won't run on windows. Driver related?

Hope someone smarter than me can find an answer to this...
I've tried running a bunch of games via bootcamp and random exe-files won't run. A couple of times the setup.exe wouldn't start and other times the installations go fine but the game itself refuses. I get a short flash of a dos prompter that disappears within the fraction of a second and then nothing happens at all.
I get the same thing weather I run XP SP3 or Win 7 x86 and I've probably tried ten games all together.
I'm thinking it must somehow be driver (or else way BootCamp) related since all games have been successfully run on native PCs.
Any ideas?

That sounds almost like trouble with your Windows Installer.
What versions of Windows installer are you running for each of your OSes?
A quick way to check: bring up a Run line, type msiexec and hit the Enter key. The Windows Installer version should be at the top of the information screen that comes up.

ITunes won't run - invisible window where iTunes should be, but it never launches.

I'm running Windows Vista 32 (I know, I should upgrade) and over the last few weeks, I noticed that my podcast wasn't downloading new eps. Now, iTunes won't run at all.
I've done a full scan of the PC and there are no viruses found. I'm using Kaspersky.
I've un-installed all Apple apps and rebooted before trying to reload iTunes and it never runs.
Anyone have any idea what might be preventing iTunes from running?
I have a Windows 7 PC on the other desk, connected through the same switch and Cable Modem and iTunes is running fine on it, so it's not network / internet related, as far as I can tell.

Let's just run through the standard procedures for that one again, just to be sure.
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. Then use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC. (Launch CleanUp, find any iTunes and/or QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, and remove those entries.)

next, use the the following document as a guide for manual removal of leftover itunes and quicktime program files:

now try another itunes install. does it go through properly this time?
(If any step of this procedure failed to work, explain to us as best you can what the problem was.)

G60, DVD won't run

Hello.
I have a new G 60 with Windows 7. When I popped in my Netflix DVD, the program runs, loads, then spits my DVD back out.
What's up with that?

DVD won't play in Windows XP

I've been working on a iDVD project this week and my burnt DVD will not play on Windows XP machines.
Plays fine on standalone DVD player and on most of the Macs I've played it on but will not play on any Windows XP machines.
Message is: Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

My Itunes 64 bit won't run in windows 7

My Itunes 64 bit decided not to run when I deleted the library. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times but it won't run. Even if I plug my ipad mini, nothing happens.

DVD won't play on Windows XP

I'm using iDVD to create a short slideshow movie for my employer. I've basically imported a slideshow from iPhoto. All I need is for the DVD to bring up the main menu when inserted into any player and then play the short slideshow when that menu option is selected.
Thus far I have had access to DVD+R discs - could this be my problem? If I switch over to DVD-R will the resulting DVD play properly on the Windows side of my Parallels?
It seems like it should be straight forward thing...but I'm stumped.

As it turns out, Windows is super-duper awesome and, though it has WMP and the Nvidia deal that should decode the DVD, it still doesn't play the disc.
Fortnately, this turns out to be an issue with my specific machine - I've tested the DVD-R that I burned on another windows machine that does have a DVD player and it worked fine. The disc also played just fine in my DVD player at home.

Creative Cloud Desktop won't run on Windows Only Updates Itslef

I'm trying to use the Creative Cloud Desktop tool on Windows 7 Professional.
I start it from the Start menu, it opens and says it requires an update to itself,
the only other option is Cancel so I to run the update,
it runs, then closes,
I open it again and again it says it requires an update to itself,
I to run the update, , it runs, then closes,
I open it again and again and again, it says it requires an update to itself.
It never runs, it just asks for updates,
how do you get it to run on Windows?
The MAC version at home is running fine.

DVD won't play on windows computer Ever see this prob?

A potential client of mine says he can't play the DVD authored in DVDSP.
"I have not been able to open the DVD and run it. It requires the CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack 2.3.1-ESD.
Is there another video program available to open the DVD?
I have Windows XP but not this application."
Has anyone run into this issue? The DVD I produced plays fine on stand alone DVD players, my Mac computers and the Window unit my partner in this project has.
To me this sounds like a windows issue or this guy hasn't updated his OS, or he is trying to open the disc like a data disc and not play it like a movie DVD.
I don't want to have probs mastering a boat load of these DVDs. These will be stamped copies so if the person has a DVD player aplication most issues like the above should go away right?

Brad - it's definitely down to the client to upgrade his software, nothing you can do about that one! Unless he is saying that he can usually watch DVDs using that software, but this one won't play, it sounds to me that he doesn't have any MPEG decoding hard or software installed.
The other thing that springs to mind is that he should be able to alter the default application that WinXP uses for DVD playback. Again, this is something for him to address, not you... sounds like a case of needing to educate the client a little
