DVD Zone

Hi there! How can I dezone my DVD (I am in region 2 and I would like to be able to see dvd in region 1)
Cheers

If RPC1 firmware isn't available for your PB, you can use software. VLC is one program, and information on how to use it can be found at http://www.macos.utah.edu/Documentation/DVDRegionFreeVLC/DVD_VLCConfig.html

  • DVD zone 2

    Hi everyone,
I'm using a MacBook Pro with Mac Os X 10.4.10. The settings are canadian, keyboard and stuff.
Here in Canada, we use zone 1 DVDs. I need to buy a movie only available in zone 2 (Europe) and I would like to know if my Mac can read it.
    Thanks,
    lidz

The Macs ship with region-locked players for some reason (they don't need to, and they're not supposed to in a couple of countries). If you look around, you can now find driver updaters that will restore normal (region-free) functionality to the drive.
In the mean time, you can switch the drive's region by inserting a disk of that region and clicking "yes" to the dialog that asks if you want to make the change. You are permitted to change the region 5 times this way (the count is stored in the drive itself). HOWEVER, I'd advise against it since sometimes the counter gets messed up and end up locking you into one region.
An alternative is to use an external drive (most of which are region free, or updatable so they become region free).
You'll find that region-locked DVD hardware is common in North America, and practically nowhere else. In 1996, the WIPO treaty on copyright identified region locking as a barrier to trade and fair use and prohibitted member countries from enforcing agreements or judgements related to region locking (note that it would have been forbidden outright had it not been for the influence of US media companies). So, region codes today appear to exist primarily to dissuade North Americans from watching foreign media.

  • Reading dvd Zone 1 on imac in zone 2

  • Isit possible to get around the 5 Zone restriction on DVD

I travel alot and play DVD's in different world zones and am running out of options cos I change the DVD zone to suite.
Soon I will have to chose a zone and stick to it which will be a bummer. Anyone know a way around it ?? Is it possible to unlock my DVD to make it All-Zone-Abled.............

just out of interest, i am curious for apple's reason for imposing a limit to the number of zone changes. is it the same in pc land?
in the case of a notebook computer, it seems to defeat the entire purpose of having a portable computer.
i am an australian (zone 4) living in the UK and the first dvd i ever played was a zone 2 disc. i didn't even know the zone had been set (or changed) till i rented a zone 4 dvd in melbourne recently. i also didn't realise that not all discs are actually 'zoned'. i have about 5 UK dvds and only one (the one i played) is actually zone 2!! i'll be more careful from now on.

  • DVD Into iPod How can be done

I have a course on "....." there are in DVD Zone 1, I can cppy them, so they are not protected. I pay for them. Will like to bring them into the ipod and watch them any place I would like.
    I try several ways....none work,,,
Any body will like to help.
Apple care said a way will be to converted inro somethin iPod will undertaand.

I purchased "Super DVD to iPod Converter" on line for $29.95 and have converted several DVDs and watched them on my new iPod. This software is worth the price for me, since it is very straightforward and easy to use. The conversion time is less than the time to watch the DVD. It does take a lot of the resources of the Computer while it's running.

  • How can I disable DVD player?

Hi, I bought a MacBook in the States and I am using it in Spain where the DVD zone is different. I want to use Video Lan to watch DVDs, but every time I insert a DVD, the DVD player application opens. In DVD player preferences I have unchecked the "start playing when disk is inserted" box, but when I insert a DVD, it keeps on automatically opening the DVD player.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks

Open the CDs & DVDs pane of System Preferences and change the default action to perform when a video DVD is inserted.

  • I'm trying to burn a dvd from idvd but I keep getting error message, broken assets, but when I check my drop zones and their content there's no error messages on any of them?

I'm trying to burn a dvd from idvd but I keep getting error message, broken assets, but when I check my drop zones and their content there's no error messages on any of them?

    Hi
And if You change view - in main "window/view field" so that You see the box-plot structure.
No exclamation marks there either ?
and non at the front page ?
iDVD do not copy Your material - only points to where it is stored. So if on any external hard disks, USB-memories, CDs or DVDs are missing - assetts are broken.
Or if You changed location of any material or directed iPhoto or iTunes or GarageBand to a new Library - Then iMovie/iDVD also get's lost.

  • Moving an image around in a drop zone in DVD studio

    Hi there
I am pretty new to this DVD studio program, and I often am using templates to make my client DVDs. One major major problem I always come across is when I have to drop images in, they always dont fit properly, let me show you one for example
    http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/8978/picture8vt.png
This always happens when I drop images in Final cut. Is there a way I can move my Image around that box?
    Thanks in advance!
    Message was edited by: blackout2008

if you click on a corner handle of the drop zone then press shift and drag the corner outwards, the drop zone will snap fit to match the format ratio of the image revealing the complete image
the reason you wont be able to move the image sideways is that there wont be any image to reveal-if the image is a different ratio to the drop zone, the image will fit inside the drop zone either by hieght or width
if the drope zones dont provide what you want-its very simple to create your own in a graphics application

  • How do I export from IMovie when "not enough room in Heap Zone" error code appears?   How can I correct,  what to Do.."export movie" insteand of Media browser or IDVD?  Finalize movie?  I want to burn it to DVD!

How do I export from IMovie to Wondershare Creator to Make DVD and share hour long movie when I am unable to "publish" movie on Media Browser of IDVD because the error code "not enough room in heap Zone/ " appears and function is aborted.
I shortened the movie, that is no cure...Correcting date info on clips does not pertain.  Why would Apple throw roadblocks in your way without solving problems they create?
A techie made an appointment on the phone and was totally incapable of addressing the problem.
    What is a heap zone????

Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead.

  • How do I format a DVD copy for multi-zone or Zone 1?

How do I format a DVD copy for multi-zone or Zone 1?
Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.3
I have to send a DVD copy to a festival. They need it formatted for multi-zone or for Zone 1 (North America). How can I make sure it's formatted like that?

I don't claim direct experience with that, but I *believe* (as in "I could be wrong, but")  that if you burn a DVD from inside FCP X, the program will take a clue from the frame rate of your project: a 25fps project will produce a PAL DVD, a 29.97 will do NTSC.

  • How does one use 'drop zones' in DVD menus?

    Hi
I have Premiere Elements 4.0. How does one use 'drop zones' in DVD menus?
    Thanks
    NBK

There are a number of ways, but the easiest is to swap in your video the way you swap in a DVD background -- i.e., select a menu with a drop zone and, in the DVD menus area, click on the background of the menu in the Disc Layout monitor. This will open up a screen that will allow you to browse to the video or still you want.
Once it's in place, hold down the Shift key and, grabbing a corner handle on the Disc Layout monitor, size the image and drag it to position it in the drop zone.

  • Drop Zones from Motion to DVD-SP ...?

I have done a template in Motion with a drop zone in it.
I want this drop zone to be usable in DVD Studio Pro.
When I import the .motn file into DVDSP and drag it on it displays the drop zone OK as a down-pointy arrow drop zone symbol in the right place in my template.
But when I try and drag a MOV asset to it, nothing happens except the usual "Set Background", "Create button & Track" etc.
How do I drag an asset onto that drop zone which I can see right in front of me in my template?
    Thanks,,

Those are really good. I like the Plasma TV one and the 9-block 3D.
In Motion I can zoom and spin drop zones though, and it's this animation that would be very nice to see in DVD-SP.

  • Cant go back to my Zone 4 DVD playing mode

I purchased a 2nd hand Powerbook 2 years ago and recently I inserted a Zone 1 DVD (from the US) which a friend gave me to watch. When I inserted it into the DVD drive it came up confirming whether I wanted to change Zones, at the time I wrongly assumed I would be ok to change it as I would have a chance to change it back to Zone 4. No such luck. I can not play my Zone 4 (australian coded) DVDs.
I approached my local Apple Center and they said they could not help. Suggested I search the net. So here I am. Can anyone suggest a way of fixing this issue. Someone suggested I need to flush the RAM. Is that correct? If so how do I do that?
    Many thanks in advance
    Dennis

Dennis - When your player would not playback Zone 4 DVDs, this simply means your DVD Drive has been region locked to Zone 1 only based on what you mentioned.
The DVD Drive on your PB is allowed only 5 changes before it gets stuck on the last or fifth region setting made on it. In your case it's probably region locked to Zone 1 now.
A region locked DVD Drive is practically impossible to "flush the RAM" or commonly known as update firmware to a zone free drive.
You might have better luck using another DVD Playback software such as VLC 0.8.5 from VideoLAN.org instead of using Apple's DVD Player because VLC ignores the region setting on most DVD drives and DVDs, it plays back the DVD regardless. I did say you "might have better luck" because VLC does not work on all types/makes of DVD Drives.
Check in your System Profiler, what brand/make/model is your DVD Drive. Then go on over to this site and check out threads here www.rpc1.org for information, utilities and software you may find useful.
    Good luck.
