DVDRW Drive

I recently parsed my list of installed programs, and I uninstalled Corel DVD MovieFactory 7 and now my DVD drive doesn't show up in My Computer and Windows tells me in Device Manger that:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
for the device:
"HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT30N"
I tried updating the driver (no update), uninstalling and rebooting (same issue), and have reseated the drive (only to have Windows tell me the driver didn't install successfully). I know the drive is powered because it gives me the green light when I insert it, and Windows detects it and tries to install the driver.
I tried finding the Corel DVD program on Lenovo's site and can't get any of the related things to work because I simply "don't have MovieFactory installed" on my system. I'm assuming this problem stems from me uninstalling the program in the first place, but I can't understand why.
I did try and restore my machine, and although the event viewer says there is a restore point made right before this all happened, Windows 7 says I have no restore points but for yesterday (too late) and August 2010 (too early!).
Any help would be appreciated!

Actually, I followed the instructions here:

  • ITunes + Vista = my computer can no longer see my DVDrw drive...

I just downloaded iTunes 7.6.2.9 onto my Dell Inspiron E1705 - and when I restart my computer, the computer can no longer see my Optical drive (DVDrw). I contacted Dell support, and they changed something in the regedit limits or something(I'm not a techy lol), and my optical drive was back.
But the next day when I opened iTunes I got a message that says:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
    So I reinstalled iTunes.
I restarted my computer, and it could no longer see my optical drive AGAIN. My DVDrw drive gets an error that says "This device cannot start (Code 10)." When I check for solutions it says "Could not load driver software."
I go back to Dell support and tell them my optical drive isn't working. They do the exact same thing to fix it (deleting some limit with regedit) and it works. I open iTunes, and I get the iTunes Warning (Setup Assistant Error).
I asked the Dell tech what the deal was, and he said iTunes isn't compatible at all with Vista.
But according to Mac's website it is...
    Anyone know what's going on?!?!

I am having the exact same behavior as xhollysue!
    It goes like this:
    1. Install ITunes, lose optical disk drives hardware (they don't even show up in Windows Explorer).
    2. Use RegEdit to disable Upper Filters at HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318}, optical drive hardware re-appears.
    3. iTunes requires a re-install to permit CD burning, and your back to square one.
I got the above fix NOT from a Dell technician, but, instead, from a Microsoft technician, which cost me $70.
I would strongly urge Apple to research this issue and come up with a more reasonable workaround since (1) the iPhone is being adopted by many traditional MS users and the use of iTunes is an integral part of the iPhone technology architecture; (2) iPhone 3G is just now shipping and will bring even more into the Apple camp; and (3) iTunes is clearly a better media player.
Come on Apple. Let's get some enthusiam and take advantage of this opportunity!

  • Can I install a DVDRW drive on my Satellite Pro A10?

I would like to upgrade the DVD ROM/CDRW drive (SD-R2412) on my Satellite Pro A10 to a DVDRW drive so I can burn DVDs. I have purchased a Toshiba DVDRW drive (TS-L632), as it is exactly the same size and shape as the existing DVD ROM drive, the same voltage (5v) and same connector.
However, after installing and turning on the laptop, it is not recognised as being installed ie, there is no sign of it at all on the computer. Is this because the laptop is totally incapable of supporting a DVDRW drive, or have I bought an incompatible device? If so, is there a compatible DVDRW drive?
    Thanks in advance,
    fred.
PS the exact model of Satellite Pro is PSA15E-0115Q-EN

    Hello
All ODDs cannot be used on every notebook model. It depends on pin assignment. Toshiba offers the list of all compatible drives in the Users Manuals document.
Ive checked Users Manuals for your notebook model and there you can find list of all compatible optical disc drives you can use with your notebook model. Check pages 4-8.
    Choose the best one.
If you don't have it visit Toshiba download page. There you can find it.

  • Opening Pioneer DVDRW drive door without power

I have a problem with my Pioneer DVDRW drive on my G5. When it closes with a disk in it it sounds like a mixmaster. I suspect I accidently placed one of the clear plastic protectors that come with a new stack of DVDs together with the disk in the drive. The disk ejected, but the plastic protector is still in there?
I have the drive out and figured I could open the drawer and shake whatever is in there out.
Problem is I don't know how to open the drawer without power?
I've ordered a new pioneer drive, but figure I can salvage the old one and put it in another machine.

Thanks much. I seen the pinhole before, but I was afraid I'd break something. I got it open and sure enough, the pastic protector was in the drive. Next I guess I'll see if the drive has been damaged by the mix-mater effect.

  • Dual DVDRW Drive burning on both at the same time

In the mac pro that would have 2 dvdrw drives in it, is it possible to burn the same data to each drive at the same time?
within the os it self or with 3rd part software

Definitely with 3rd party software, unsure about Disc Utility / iTunes / other.
BUT, the optical drives are on a PATA bus (Master / Slave) so they share the same bandwidth through the ATA-133 controller. Low speed burning would be a doddle. High speed burning may cause issues - I know high speed burning for drives like these requires the ATA-133 bus (over the ATA-100 bus) even when you just burn using one drive (see specs for Pioneer drives on their website), so two drives at high speed would strain to get data fast enough. You can but try, and while burning two DVDs at 16x in parallel may be too much, burning at 8x in parallel may be OK, and that is still fast enough for most of us.
Just as a note, I tried, (using Toast) a few months ago, to burn a large number of CDs and DVDs. I found it took me longer to prep the burn, document what I had burned and label the disks than the actual burn took - so although I could burn in parallel I didn't gain any time advantage over burning a single disc at a time.

  • Wrongly flashed TSST TS-L633M DVDRW drive firmware Compaq Model:CQ-504AU

Before the drive was accidenly flashed it function normally but after last time I have accidently open a DVD drive flashing program and flashed the dvd drive stated above and then the program restart the computer.
After restart, the computer still can see the drive but it cannot read or write any dvd and cd disc from it. Is the anyway that can make it into usable state again? I know this cause by wrong firmware flashed into the dvd drive rom memory.
I mean flash it with a new flash program? If so can somene give the link to that firmware? I dont want to replace the drive only because of firmware error. I search all over the internet but useless.
If I am not mistaken the firmware version before accidenly flashed it was something lke version 0020.
The samsungodd.com had firmware for it with version SC00, SC01 but incompatable with it. Other than version SC00, SC02 are welcome to post here.
Please someone reply as soon as possible. It is very important to me. thank you.

    Introductory Material.
Here is the solution for updating TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633M ATA DEVICE.
There is an update for the TS-L633M from Samsung but it only has version SC01, which WILL NOT UPDATE  the HP version of TS-L633M because the HP version is 0301 with an OEM Code of HM.
However, Samsung has rebranded TS-L633M with a new ATA Device Driver that is called SN-S083M and has an update driver SC02.
The way that you update TS-L633M Code Version 0301 with OEM Code HM with the new Samsung SN-S083M Code Version SC02 is to patch the file and flash the HP TS-L633M with the patched file.
    Instructions.
IMPORTANT ----- THIS ONLY PERTAINS to those who have the HP TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633M ATA Device - Check the Device Manager to make sure you have this Model Number Device Driver before proceding - YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Only proceed if your product is not in warranty and do not desire to pay for another DVD drive.
Go to the following link and download the firmware SN-S083M Global Distribution SB02: http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/Firmware/FWDownload/fwdownload.asp?functionvalue=view&no=606&parent_id...    If you do not have a unzipped utility program, go to the following link and download and install 7zip that fits your computer from the following link: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html      Unzip the Firmware File using Winrar or 7zip.
Download the Samsung Standalone Flash Utility:  http://www.samsungodd.com/KorLib/File/tsdnwin.exe
Download and unzip ala42's MCSE http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE/MediaCodeSpeedEdit.zip
                       Source of Download:  http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE/
Create a folder and name it FLASH and place the following 3 items in the folder.
                               SN-S083M_SB02.bin that you extracted
                               Samsung Standalone Flash Utility
Ala42 MCSE that you downloaded and extracted from the zip file
After placing all three objects in step 5 into the folder named FLASH, place the folder FLASH and all its contents in C-Drive.
After placing the folder FLASH in C-Drive, open the folder and RIGHT CLICK on ALA42 MediaCodeSpeedEdit.exe and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
When ALA42 MediaCodeSpeedEdit.exe opens, click on the LOAD button and navigate to the FLASH folder in C-Drive and load the file SN-S083M_SB02.bin - When the file it loaded it will show all its regions.
When the SN-S083M_SB02.bin file is fully loaded, place a CHECK MARK by the RPC1 box at the lower right hand corner of ALA42 MCSE.
After putting a check mark by the box RPC1 in ALA42 MCSE, click the SAVE button on the upper right hand corner and save the file in the FLASH folder as SN-S083M_SB02_speedpatched.bin.
Now go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > COMMAND PROMPT and right click on the Command Prompt and chose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR to open Command Prompt in Administrator Role.
Once the command prompt opens, type the following:  CD C:\FLASH and hit the ENTER BUTTON.
After hitting the enter button, the command prompt should read FLASH.
At the FLASH Command Prompt, type the following:  tsdnwin  nocheck and hit the Enter Button to open the Samsung Stand Alone Flasher.
When the Samsung Stand Alone Flasher opens, click on the on the SEARCH Button and navigate to the file "SN-S083M_SB02_speedpatched.bin" to load it in the Samsung Flash Utility.
The "SN-S083M_SB02_speedpatched.bin" file will load and then click DOWNLOAD to begin to flash your TS-L633M ATA Device.
Wait until the flash is complete and when it finishes, it will ask you to reboot the computer and you must reboot.
When you rebott and are back at your desktop, Windows will recognize the drivers for your TS-L633M ATA Device and install the new drivers SN-S083M_SB02.
When it finishes installing your drivers, reboot the computer one more time and then you are done.
NOW ENJOY your updated CD/DVDRW Drive.

  • Satellite Pro M30: Can't read DVDs on DVDrw drive

    I cant read dvds...
i can burn them but when i start to read them it shows me an error like this " E:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."
    its killin me, please help

    Hi
The I/O device error occurs if drive has a problem with the disc or your system config (mainly a disc problem).
The DVD drive cant read all DVDs or just the burned DVDs?
Which burning software did you use?
As far as I know you should always closed the burning session.
Furthermore if you need the DVD Shrink software please check this links:

  • DVDRW driver and troubleshooting help for G530 notebook

I have a 3 month old G530 with Vista Home where the DVD will not work. The dvd showed up as there and windows update says that the latest driver was installed but My Computer does not see it. Vista says that it is not MS Vista recognized. I looked for a driver on the Lenovo site but there are no drivers for the DVD shown and when I went to the Optiarc site it does not list the AD-7580-S in its list. I deleted the driver expecting to easily replace it using MS Update scan but it does not see the driver missing.  Some guidance would be appreciated.

    Hi!
This is no hardware issue, it's a bug in Vista.
    To solve this problem:
    - start regedit (Windows-Key+R, "regedit", OK)
    - head for the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    - right click on this key, choose "export" and save it anywhere on your hdd (just a little backup if the following doesn't work)
    - search for value named "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" beneath the key and DELETE them (right click -> delete)
    - restart your machine
    - have fun

    Till

  • External CD/DVDRW drive on MacBook Air OSX Lion 10.7.5

After a recent update, my external CD/DVD RW drive will write cd's/dvd's, but will not play dvd's like it did just days ago.  I tried restoring to a point where I knew that it worked, no solution.  I repaired disk permissions, no solution. Checked for any new software, still no fix.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

To caveat this problem, I can no longer sync my Garmin 401 with Garmin Base Camp on my MB Air.  This occured at the same time, and I get the same error message "The disk you entered is not recognized by this computer" (or something along those lines) with the option to ignore, or eject.  Both issues began at the same time, and corresponded with the update that I installed earlier this month.  Any assistance or future fixes are appreciated.
Also- the dvd i'm trying to play is a store-purchased DVD, brand new, tried the one that it played just two weeks ago, and another one, neither of which played.

  • Optical drive not recognized as an ATA device in Apple profiler

The dvd drive is not recognized any more in Apple Profiler (nothing under ATA) and the CD or DVD are not recognised neither. I can hear the drive is working but that's it. The problem happened just after I upgraded to 10.4.10. Any help would be welcome!

You will want to ensure your USB DVDRW drive is properly connected to the Windows 8 VM in question.
To check this you will want to use the Vmware vSphere client to connect to your Vmware ESX/ESXi host.
Next, you will want to edit the settings for your Windows 8 virtual machine and check that you have added a USB controller and then connected the USB device to the controller. This is a manual assignment. If your DVDRW drive you wish to connect is actually
connected via SATA on the motherboard of the host then you will want to go through the same process to ensure the CD/DVD drive of the host has 'connected' and 'connect at power on' selected under settings.

  • DVD/CDRW drive not working - Tecra A4

Hi, I have a problem with my Tecra A4.
My DVD CDRW drive is not working properly (Power is there, but it doesn't show up on the system), I have temporary installed a DVDRW drive from my HP laptop which is working fine.
I tried to run my recovery disc (never used it before), but nothing happens (press and hold C on start up). Will this only run with the correct drive installed or am I doing something wrong?
p.s. I bought this second hand but it is new. It had a damaged screen which I've replaced
    Julian

If the old drive will not read the medias so its possible damage.
You should know that not every drive is compatible with the unit because of the master/slave/csel settings.
You have said that the pressing of the C button doesnt allow you to boot up from the drive.
In such case I would recommend to enter the BIOS and there you could change the booting order.
However, this all tip will only works if the new drive is compatible and supported

HOLD ON GUYS THE PROBLEME IS MINOR AND THE SOLUTION SIMPLE, THE G585 WIN8 IS NOT THAT BAD AFTER U READ THIS OR GO DIRECTLY TO THE LENOVO SUPPORT LINK BELOW AND APPLY THE FIX..
I had the same problem with my new G585, I couldn't get any windows 8 upgrades done by undoing and reversing to pre-upgrade state right after reboot which made my system unstable and very slow to use and windows8 very buggy, it was very frustrating but I didn't give up and kept trying to upgrade with no success to the point I started to think that either something was wrong with my unit even though I had it for less than 2 weeks since I bought it from best buy or Lenovo effed up this time with this sluggish configuration and that I have to add RAM and see if its any better b4 returning it to them for servicing.. well IT TURNS OUT YES LENO EFFED UP BUT NOT WITH THE CONFIGURATION BUT WITH SOME BLOATWEAR CALLED NITRO PDF THAT WILL NOT LET U UPGRADE WINDOWS8 AND SPESIFECLY THE UPGRADE PART OF NITRO PDF FROM TRIAL VERSION TO FULL VERSION CALLED NITRO PDF PRO 7 OR SOME SH** LIKE THAT, THE GOOD PART IS NITRO IS OFFERING A DOWNLOAD FIX U CAN DO WHEN YOU USE THE BLOATHWEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME OR BETTER YET BY DELETING THAT APP AFTER THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO UPGRADE YOUR WINDOWS8 OS AND YOU WILL BE AMAZED BY HOW MANY UPGRADES YOU WILL GO THRU BUT YOUR SYSTEME WILL START RUNNING FASTER AND SMOOTHER FROM THE FEW FIRST UPGRADE.
