DVDs 1st Second Clipped Off

I've been touring a program of my short films in theaters. The show is on a DVD. Some places I go, the DVD player will clip off the first second of a track -- which is horrible. I already have a moment of black at the beginning of each track, but that doesn't seem to be enough.
Some of the tracks on the DVD are audio-only. (When I made them in FCP, I put a slug in the video track -- I figured it might be safer to have something there, rather than be empty.) It appears that it's these audio-only tracks that are the offenders at starting late.
At one theater recently, the professional DVD player was doing this clipping. When we tried a $30 cheapo player, it played fine.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Is there something about a DVD player being given black video that would make it clip off the beginning?

different brands and models have different amounts of latency when buffering the stream as playback begins. As a rule, I allow 1.5 seconds of black/silence before and 1 second and a couple frames after any essential video or audio in my track. I also try to observe this 1.5 second buffer when placing my chapter markers.

Every now and then I get about a half second clip of another song

Every now and then I get about a half second clip of another song at the end of a song. If you immediately go back and play the same again, you get the same little burp at the end. But if you play three or four songs and then go back, the little burp is not there. I did a restore on the ipod, and I am still getting the little burps. It only happens maybe once out of every 10 songs played.
Files are MP3's which play fine on the PC in WMP and itunes, and on Dell DJ15, Zune and Sansa MP3 players. Some of the MP3s were ripped from CD using MusicMatch, some recorded off old lps using Creative Go!, and some downloaded so I don't think it is an issue with the MP3s themselves. Since I use several different players, I don't want to maintain a separate AAC library just for the ipod.
Usually the burst is so short that you can't even tell who the artist was, but when I have recognized it was always something very close alphabetically - at the end of a Cream song I got a little Creed, at the end of a Bad Company song I got a little Bachman-Turner Overdrive, at the end of a Led Zeppelin track I got a little Linkin Park.

Using Windows, the only answer would seem to be to re-encode them using iTunes.

Why is the beginning of song clipped off on export?

On export to iTunes, the very first bit of the song is being clipped off... almost a seconds worth... I also tried exporting to disc and the same thing is happening; Have I missed a setting? If I play it back directly from GB it is fine...

Ours is not to reason why, ours but to record or die! I've spoken to professional recording engineers who have assured me that there is no need to start on bar 1.
Having to start on 2 or any other bar because of the clipped start on 1 is not an indication of a technical problem. In fact they also start later than bar 1 even though they don't have to. It's just good technique to leave a little breathing room at the beginning of the song.
And even if it is a glitch, the only prescription is more cowbell! No, I mean the only fix is to start on bar 2. It's also helpful if you want to change the intro without having to move the whole song. I had the clipping problem the same day I bought the computer, so I doubt that it's a technical problem.

I downloaded a tv episode from app store via my ipad. it shows up on my ipad but only the 20 second clip

i wanted to buy an episode of a tv show. i fired up my ipad 2 and it dowloaded and it was paid for, but I go into my itunes or "music" applet and it is there, and even has a greyed out box that says "downloaded" BUT it will on;y play the 20 second clip. . .
I was going to try downloading it again, but I don't think I can.
I was going to buy another episode, but did not want to end up with the same situation. . .
I feel confident it is user error, I just don't know where erred. . .

i must be an idiot. I dont see a video app per se? is it within the itunes application or is there an "ivideo" type of app that comes with an Ipad or download one? I know I downloaded the whole episode, (at least they charged me for it as well it took a bit for it to come down). . .

Most commonly used backup methods
Th problem with HD video is it needs a fast external interface, so you should pick a external drive that uses the fastest interface your computer has to offer.
Performance rank fastest to slowest is
Thunderbolt, USB3, (newer Mac's)
Firewire 800, USB 2, Firewire 400, USB 1 (older Mac's)
Newer Windows PC's have USB3, older one's USB 2,1.
You need to format the drive if it comes FAT which a lot do, as FAT has a 4GB file size limit, so this won't work with large HD video files.
So if your going to use the drive only with a Mac, then head to Utlities > Disk Utility and format it Options: GUID Format: OS X Extended Journaled. (select the drive makers name and click Partition tab)
If your going to use the external drive with a PC, take it to the oldest PC you have and right click and format exFAT.
If you have a Windows XP machine and there is no exFAT, it can be downloaded for free from Microsoft.

We have a Panasonic PV-D400D, and iMovie's last few versions have erroneously imported all video as tons of little .3 second clips. The way we got around this was to import as one single clip, not using the auto clip thing in iMovie. However, it looks like there is now no preference for that.
Am I out of luck? Is there a setting I'm missing? Anyone with such a camera know if there's a setting on the camera itself that is causing this problem?

Can't find Your Camera on the Web. So my thoughts:
To get this I would:
• record in LP-mode (90 min on a 60min tape)
• play it back on another Camera
• to a Mac with an exteral hard disk NOT Formatted as Mac OS Extended.
All this would give a non working situation. Changing them to
• SP-mode (60min)
• use same Camera as did the shooting
• import to internal hard disk (formatted Mac OS Extended) with 25Gb free space
would make it as easy as possibly.

I can't print Multiple pages in FF6 – clipping off content after page 1. I have thrown out firefox completely off my imac and re-installed... still does not print correctly. How do I fix this?

After upgrading last week, i can no longer print multiple page print outs off of any website, without the secondary pages clipping off content. Page 1 prints fine... the remaining pages do not.
pages print fine in both safari and chrome...

If you are wondering why you are not getting any responses, it is because you have vented a complaint without any details that make any sense or give anyone something to work on.
If you want help, I suggest actually detailing what has happened, with versions of software etc. Anything that would let us assist.
As a start I am guessing that you have not really got the hang of "How it all works". Firstly download the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf from under the Help menu. Read that and view the Video Tutorials in the same place. A good addition would be the iWork 09 Missing manual book and something to help you learn how to use your Mac.

I am doing a school presentation, and I can only play a 30 second clip of a certain song from iTunes. How can I play just the 30 seconds without having to watch the clock and pressing stop?

but here it is for anyone else:
Try adding a build out on the audio clip and set it with a 30 second delay. You set the delay by hitting the More Options button on the Build Inspector.
I just tested it with a song with a 10 second delay and it worked fine for me.

I can import my first clip to the video library, but not the second clip. I tried dragging-dropping and using the "E" key, but only the first clip will show up in the library. I use IMovie 9.0.9 and OSX 10.8.5. with no problems until yesterday.

I can drag my first clip from the New Event window into the Project Library, but not the second. I can highlight the second clip in the New Event window, but it won't "drag". The "E" key works for the first clip, but not the second.I've been using IMovie daily and the problem just appeared. No upgrades to the computer and no new software installed. IMovie 9.0.9 and OSX 10.8.5

Thanks victoryhat. I learned some new things from this very clear tutorial. But it didn't answer my question about why the titles don't stay with the video when I export it.
He did mention something that might be a clue however. When he talked about importing a title he created as an image, he noted that he was careful to make the image the same size as the video he was adding it to: 1280 x 720. Since I took the video with an iPhone in the vertical position, my video image isn't the same size and orientation as the titles.
Maybe there is a way I should be setting the screen for this size??? I'll go back and play around. Meanwhile thanks for alerting me to Gary Rosenzweig's MacMost tutorials. Very clear. I'll look for more.

End of streaming audio clipped off

We have a long (nearly 15,000 frame) timeline with several different mp3 audio clips placed at various points with some animation. The audio is set to stream.
In some places the last littlest bit of audio is getting clipped off when playedback. The audio is there and I hear it when scrubbing the timeline. But in the published swf it will just cut off the last letter or so of the final word.
We've had this problem occasionally over the years and haven't figured out what causes it. We have taken the following steps. Including a 100 or so milliseconds of silence at the end of the mp3 and adding several extra frames beyond the end of the waveform. But the problem continues.
Sometimes the problem seems to only happen on some computers and no others. Which makes it really hard to diagnos.
Any ideas?

If I select the sound on the timeline and go into edit sound envelope it shows the wave form going a bit beyond the end into the grey. And I can't drag the little ending marker further to the right. Audio that I'm not having the problem with (in a different project) shows the waveform completely in the white.

Depending on which country's store you are in, the previews are supposed to be either 30 or 90 seconds.
The last few days there have been several posts here that they are not getting the full preview. There is certainly no setting to control that, so I suppose the problem is at the store.
My suggestion is to try again in a few days, or to purchase from another online music download retailer.
