DVDSP 4 and LiveType 2.13 no longer opening!!
DVDSP 4 and LiveType 2.13 no longer opening. This just started happening about 10 days ago. Have repaired permissions, checked for corrupted fonts and to no avale. Tried reinstalling FCP Studio 2 from the isntaller DVD but the installer crashed whenever I try and open it. Final mCut Po is also giving me some strange start up issues but is still opening thankfully. Compressor opens fine. Is it a compatibility thing with 10.5 that is just surfacing?

Before the reset quit Pages like this:
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. -
Just updated my iMac to OS X Yosemite and my Photoshop will no longer open. Pop up message informing, Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, Please reinstall the application. I have the pay monthly package and don't know where to start.

OMG I just upgraded as well and only my apple pre-installed apps work anything I downloaded wont open. This is a mess. I tried resetting and rebooting and nothing.

Some users have a similar problem to this, but if FireFox is already open the link from their mail client will activate in FireFox. For me, once I click a link in an email, FireFox immediately becomes the active application, but nothing further happens. FireFox has been the default browser for ages, but I stopped that, and set Safari as the default. Then quitting and re-opening FireFox I re-established it as the default browser, but the problem persists.
It amuses me that the email that was sent to confirm the posting of this question had a clickable link. Naturally that link did not work. Cutting and pasting it into FireFox allowed me to complete the posting process. Annoying.

Pages 5 document will no longer open in pages 5
I upgraded to Mavericks a few days ago and afterwards, I had both Pages '09 and Pages 5 in my dock, instead of one of them being in the applications folder. They are both still in my dock. I have looked briefly at Pages 5 and determined that, at this time, I prefer Pages '09. All of my documents were created in Pages '09 and now they will no longer open in Pages '09. (Some will, and I don't know what the difference is between the ones that will and the ones that won't) When I try to open one, it either opens, no problem, or I get the message "The required index.xml file is missing." This message is in a rectangle with an icon representative of Pages '09 (the inkwell). Since it has this icon, I'm assuming that I was trying to open it in the Pages '09 version, which is what I intended o do. Since this didn't work, I tried to right click and "Open with Pages.app (4.0.5)" and got the same message. I was a little afraid to try to open it in Pages 5, since I've heard rumors that this could ruin the document. I would like to be able to use either of the apps but, since I apparently can't do that, I gathered my courage and opened a document in Pages 5. Everything seemed to be okay, so I opened a couple more. One of them, I even was able to edit with no problem. But when I tried to open it again hours later, I got an error message saying ". . . can't be opened because it is from an "unidentified developer". What's going on here? The only people involved in this document are Apple and me. What "unidentified developer" are they talking about? And why was it fine, then a few hours later it was not accessible? If I'm forced to use only Pages 5, I guess I can live with that, but it seems as though I will have to live in constant fear that, at any time, my document will not open. I've read about a lot of other people who are having problems, too, but not this particular one. I'm at a loss and, like everybody else, I have important documents that I need access to. I'm using an iMac and 10.9.4. What to do?? I need my stuff!
1. You have allowed Apple to auto-upgrade your Mac
Turn off auto-update here:
Menu > Apple > System Preferences > App Store
2. The Icons on your dock are Aliases not real apps
They point to where the apps really are which is:
For Pages 5.2.2 in your Applications folder
For Pages '09 in your Applications/iWork folder
3. You are alternately opening documents randomly with either version of Pages
Both Pages have the same file extension .pages and there is no certainty as to which version opens them when you double click on a file.
right click on the file and choose which version you want to open it
4. Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 files
Pages 5 can not open Pages '08 files, and will convert and change Pages '09 and Word files.
It will also auto save opened files into its own format.
You can export these back to Pages '09 if you need to:
Menu > File > Export > Pages '09
5. Yes Pages 5.2.2 is a marked downgrade
Pages 5.2.2 has a few improvements but has had over 110 features removed and is buggy.
Sooner or later you will not be able to open a file or have it damaged in some way and it has a complex obscure file format largely incompatible with everything else, so you will not be able to rescue the contents of your file. If Pages or some third party server/eMail don't trash your file, eventually Apple will do it for you as it did when it released Pages 5 last September. I recommend using Pages '09 for the time being whilst you look for viable alternatives, some are here already and some are on the way.

I can no longer open safari!?!
Hi everyone,
My computer crashed today and now i can no longer open safari!
A window pops up saying
"Safari Web Browser has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
And thats it, you can see more details but i don't understand any of it!
Anyone got any ideas?
I have uninstalled it and re loaded it, restarted the computer a few times, done a virus scan and still nothing!

- Uninstall Safari
- Go to
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\
and delete the folder called "Safari". Have also a look inside "Preferences" and delete the two files called "PubSub.plist" and "com.apple.Safari.plist".
After that, install Safari again.
Please note: The folder "Application Data" ist hidden, so you have to type the address into your address field by hand or make invisible folders visible.

Why can I no longer open jpeg files in camera raw in CS2? The option is grayed out in Bridge
I was forced to download CS2 from the web after Adobe stopped allowing me to register it from my disks and now I can no longer open files in camera raw. Am I missing something?
As far as i know, photoshop cs2 and adobe bridge 1 (cs2) could not open jpegs or tiffs into camera raw, only camera raw files.
I believe photoshop cs3 was the first version to allow jpegs to be opened in camera raw.
Are you sure you had photoshop cs2 before?
If on the other hand, you can't open camera raw files that you used to be able to open, then you probably just need to update the camera raw plugin to version 3.7

An App I downloaded on my Ipad2 will no longer open?
I have been using the TSN app for months and suddenly it will no longer open. It starts to open and then disappears. I have tried a reset of the my ipad and also downloaded a free app but nothing is working. What else do I need to do?
It should not matter where you download the app from - iTunes on your computerhero from the purchased tab in the app store. Since nothing else is working, try downloading it again from iTunes on your computer and them sync the app to the iPad.
If the app is in your iTunes library, delete it from there first. Launch iTunes, click on the apps sub heading under the library heading on the left side of the iTunes window, find the app, right click on it and select Delete and begin the deletion process. It is a two question process. When asked in iTunes - move the app to the trash. -

I currently use iMovie just to produce slideshows for wedding photographers, and am thinking about upgrading to Final Cut so that I can make them that bit more professional looking and expand a little as a result.
One thing I don't yet utilise at all are titles - but from having a look at both Motion and LiveType, I'm unsure as to which I should most consider.
Do any of you guys use Motion for titling much, or have you also used LiveType? Which would you say was best, or that advantages of either? Does the titling in Motion offer any more than LiveType, or is LiveType essentially just the titling component of Motion bundled with Final Cut?
Any pointers appreciated.

I had a play with LiveType in our Apple store, and have just been playing with the trial version of Motion, and I did get the impression that Motion edges it - but on very limited experience.
It's really a toss up between Final Cut and Motion at the moment - both £199 ish (I think). It's primarily for titling at the moment - FCHD would have the advantage of greater flexibility, eg multiple video tracks, whilst Motion may have more pluses on the titling, which I could concentrate on getting up to speed with, and then maybe investing in the full FCS at some point - as I do DVDs, there's an obvious path from iDVD to DVDSP as well.
Of course, if I had the cash, I'd be buying a new macbook pro, and FCS tomorrow...

I recently upgraded iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and then itunes would no longer recognize my iphone 4s and iPod although I can see the iphone but NOT the iPod on the computer (windows 8.1 Pro). I checked everything , cable, services, stop and start and automatice, etc.and went through all the steps on the apple support site, to include removing all apple software in the designated order and reinstalling it. iTunes still doesn't see the iphone.
The Apple iPhone shows up only under protable Devices in the Device Manager window and has a Yellow ! warning triangle, and there is no Apple USB controller in the devices menu.under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. When I look under the properties of the Apple iphone, it says in Device Status, to reinstall the drivers for this device (Code 18).
When I do this, I get the following: "Windows found driver softweare for you device but encountered an error when attempting to install it" Apple Mobile Device Driver One of the installers for th this device cannot perform the installation at this time. I tried both suggested locations on the C: drive.
Also I can't seem to find out how to install the Apple USB Contoller or is that related to the problem above?
The iphone and my ipod work fine with this version of itunes on Windows 7 on my laptop. is it possible that I am missing a critical update from Microsoft on the driver and USB controller? I have been leery of installing them since my computer had problems with some updates in January.
I 've tried every thing listed in this forum, I think, and the Apple support page on this subject. Please help!Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

Hello, I've updated the iPhone I have got I have a problem I hope you respond to some of the applications no longer work, such as the safari and skype and many applications are no longer working with the ios7.0.4
Standard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove apps from Recently Used (multi-tasking) list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card to remove it from the list
- Press the home button when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
