DVDSP 4 only plays movie up to first chapter

When "I select play movie" it will only play the first chapter. I have check many times and the asset is the entire movie. I've deleted the movie re-added it and reset the chapter markers- still only plays to the first chapter. Is something corrupt possibly...

Why do you have Chapter End Jumps? There's rarely a need for it. Take those out! If you need to play individual chapters use the story function instead.
It could be a corrupt stream...hard to say. What was your bitrates? Often folks crank up the bitrates on the encodes thinking more is better. DVD has a strict ceiling (9.8 mb/s) even short spikes above this will cause players to choke. Also audio can be a major issue. Always use AC3 audio with its lower bitrate. Could be the media as well.
Do some tests. Use a bitrate for DVD calculator to determine what your best bitrate should be based on the length of the program. This should always be the first step in any DVD project! Also use AC3 audio as well and another batch of GOOD media.

1. Gets a specific movie
2. Plays the movie full screen.
Everything is tied into iCal and seems to work well except that I can only play .mov files. mp4 files and .avi files will play in Quicktime Player but will not when called through this workscript/app.
Any thoughts?

Your question is somewhat ambiguous. How you place the files on your web site will depend on how you are creating/managing the web site and how you plan for viewers to watch them. This can range from simply loading the files to an online server and accessing the content directly by its URL in a compatible browser app like Safari or dedicated players like QT 7, QT X, MPEG Streamclip, VLC, or devices like the iPad, iPhone, etc. to embedding/calling specialized "viwers/players" from within the programmed web page.
Not being a web site programmer myself, I normally just transfer the content to my system and either copy the files directly to my server or use iWeb to publish the files to my server for more generic web site viewing.

If the tracks that do not play fully also fail to sync with your portable devices, then you probably had an error in downloading these tracks. To solve this problem:
1. Delete the problem tracks from your library and hard disk.
2. Go to the Home screen of the iTunes Store.
3. Click "Purchased" under "Quick Links."
4. Click the "Not on This Computer" button.
5. Find your album with the missing tracks and download again.

My iPhone will not sync completely. All of my audiobooks are only half downloaded. after the first chapter there is just silence. I've removed and reinstalled them and still the same thing.

Ive also tried to unistall them and get them directly from iTunes on the phone again and iTunes wants me to pay for them again. Very upsetting because they were not cheap to begin with like 10 bucks a pop. I'm going crazy someone please help me

Playing .mov video with flvPlayback

I have some .mov files I need to play with the flvPlayback component. When I had them in my actionscript it does not work. I've read allot and it says that the component will play mov video but it does not for me.
I am running CS4 with FlashPlayer 10 and AS3.
Any suggestions?

There are many different types of .mov files. I think that flvPlayback can only play .mov files that have been encoded with the H.264 codec. So if you have Quicktime open the mov file with that and check the information for what codec was used on the video stream.

Automator: "Play Movies" fails to function properly

I recently performed a regular test and determined quicktime has surpassed VLC (thanks to perian) for my video playback.
In an effort to make this practical, I attempted to create a stand-alone automator app to sequentially play the contents of a given folder using "ask for finder items" coupled with "Play Movies".
Some cursory research showed others had achieved success with this method, unfortunately my testing has not produced similar results. Testing it in automator results in logs showing the movies successfully played, but quicktime never launches, and neither do any other media apps. The stand-alone app has a similar "let's not and say we did" approach.
I'm confused at this point, above all else i'm concerned as to why it would lie on the logs.

Same problem. Wanted to play all episodes of TV series I downloaded, without converting them to iTunes format. They play fine on Quicktime individually, but I'd like to be able to watch them all without having to open them manually. Used Automator to create workflow with "Ask for Finder items" and "Play Movies". The first time I ran it, played the first movie on the list, and then stopped. Now it plays nothing. It runs, I select my files, it beeps and says "Workflow complete", but nothing happened.

Orphan Menu Start Playing Timeline First Chapter

Hi All,
My Problem is i cant figure out where i am doing wrong.
I have single timeline in my dvd project I import menu
from the Encore Library did not set any action (mean the menu
is orphan)when ever i preview from here it start playing timeline
from the first chapter after 2 seconds.
I tried several menues from the library but having same
problem. when i check the project it shows error "orpahn menu"
which is correct as i did not do any routing to any menu.
(I am doing it with the help of Total Training Video step by step)
Did anyone else have the similar problem.

Lets forget about Preview for a moment. Well get back to it, but not until youve done what follows. I want to make sure that I know what you have, what youve done and what you want with your DVD.
Tell me if I am correct:
1.) You have a DV-AVI file that you Imported (either as a Timeline, or created a Timeline from it). It was done/Imported first. This will automatically place it as Play First in the Flowchart.
2.) You have a Menu that you Imported as Menu from either the Library or from elsewhere on your system. It has one Button. It now appears in the orphanage in the Flowchart.
Right now, in the Flowchart Panel, you have the Disc icon (DVD Project, or whatever new name you gave it) with a black line going to the Timeline. You also have your Menu in the orphanage. Is this correct?
You want this Menu to Play First, and then after a point in time to go automatically to your Timeline, or if the user pushes that one Button to go immediately to that Timeline. Is this correct?
If so, hover your mouse cursor over the Disc icon. It will turn into the Pickwhip (little curleque icon). Drag this down to your Menu in the orphanage. It will replace your Timeline as Play First. There will be a little box below your Menu and it will say Button 1 (unless you changed its name). From this little box below your menu (remember, we are still in the Flowchart Panel), when you hover the mouse cursor over it, youll get the Pickwhip again. Drag it to your Timeline.
Now, in your Flowchart, dbl-click on your Menu. Open the Properties Tab and look down to Duration (third line down). Set it to the length of time* that you want the Menu to be visible (unless the user hits the button). Uncheck Hold Forever. Loop Point should be set to None.
Your Flowchart should now have the Disc icon with a black line to your Menu. There should be one blue line from the Menu Button 1 to the Timeline. This is what you want.
Now, Preview the Project. I usually do this from the File>Preview on the Menu Bar at the top of the workspace. Alt-Ctrl-Spacebar will also do it. Your Preview should show the Menu, which will automatically go to the Timeline after the length of time you specified in the Properties Panel, unless you hit this Button before that time. Does this work?
* Duration is Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

Since syncing my Ipod classic three days ago, the songs will only play the first three minutes and five seconds. Then it just stops. After a little while, it moves on to the next song.

Try Deleting it from your device, then download again from purchase history.

Can I move only my iTunes movies, not my iTunes music, onto a flash drive? And, is there a program (apart from iTunes) that can play movies on MacBook Air?

I have a MacBook Air and I need to free up space...
1) I have three series of a tv show on my itunes which are taking up loads of memory - see image - I want to move these movie files onto a Flash Drive. However I do not want to move my itunes Music onto the flash drive, only my Movies, and want to keep my music on my hard drive.
Is this possible?
2) I have managed to copy the movie files onto the flash drive, however when I tried to play one to check that they were loaded properly it didn't have a program that could run the file (they have copied over in a m4V format). Do the MacBook Air's not have a separate program other than itunes that can play movies? If so, is there a program I can get to solve this problem? I went onto the App Store to see if there was something I could download, but all the apps were for creating DVD's, not simply playing them.
3) If 1. & 2. questions are solvable, will it then be safe to delete the movies from my itunes?

If you can play the movies in iTunes, you should be able to open the movie files using Quicktime, which should already be on your system. If you have already transferred the files to your flash drive, open the flash drive in Finder, and hold control when you click on the movie file (or right click if you have the enabled) and select Open With Quicktime Player. This should play the movie directly from the flash drive.

You can move the TV shows to your flash drive by dragging them from the iTunes window to your flash drive in Finder or the flash drive icon on the desktop. When you are sure everything is transferred over to your external device, you can delete the movie from iTunes. I recommend playing the videos from the flash drive first before deleting them in iTunes.
To delete the videos from iTunes, you can highlight them and press the delete key on your keyboard. In the next prompt, you would want to move it to the trash so that it is deleted from your internal hard drive.

Scene selection only allows first chapter to play in previews

In the scene selection screen, iDVD will show each chapter in the movie and allows you to play a short movie clip as a preview. I would think that each chapter would allow you to play a portion of video from that chapter. But instead, iDVD only allows you to play a clip from chapter 1 in all the chapters. That makes no sense. What am I missing here?

I have same problem. In test mode, clicking on each chapter starts a relevant time in the main movie. But on a burned project only first chapter works, other just loop but when clicked on, nothing happens. Any help around?

What happens when playing the same books in iTunes. Is there sound after 15 min?
If also silent in iTunes, check the info tab where you can see the item is an audiobook, etc. Check the volume bar, this normally is on the zero point.
When an audio book is really low in audio, I tend to move this to the plus side (+1=max), but for some strange reason this bar was at -1 in some books I had and they also seemed to play in absolute silence.

Play only once movie using LSO script

I have just put together a website for my employer which has a flash movie that plays as soon as you land on the homepage. I want that movie to only play once, so when the visitor goes to another page then goes back to the homepage the movie will not play again. I have applied the following LSO script to the flash movie to create a sort of flash cookie stored on the visitors computer. It works fine in Internet explorer and Safari, but for some reason there's a problem in Firefox. When you go back to the homepage, instead of going to the last frame as scripted gotoAndStop(_totalframes); it stops at a random point roughly half way through the movie. I have no idea why this is happening, does anyone have any suggestions how to resolve the problem?

normally that indicates a swf has not completely loaded. i would expect, if you cleared your other browser's cache, you would see the same issue when clicking back and forth quickly enough.
