Dvdsp build message?

"The Build Location folder contains a HVDVD_TS folder(HD DVD content).  You must remove the HVDVD_TS folder from the Build Location in order to proceed with Build/Format of a Standard DVD project." ..........any help on how i change this?

You need to go to the folder where your build is being stored and delete the folder... If you don't know where it is being stored, find it w/ command-f from your desktop.

  • XML Report completes with error due to REP-271504897:  Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.

We are in the middle of testing our R12 Upgrade.  I am getting this error from the invoice XML-based report that we are using in R12. (based on log).  Only for a specific invoice number that this error is appearing.  The trace is not showing me anything.  I don't know how to proceed on how to debug where the error is coming from and how to fix this.  I found a patch 8339196 that shows exactly the same error number but however, I have to reproduce the error in another test instance before we apply the patch.  I created exactly the same order and interface to AR and it doesnt generate an error.  I even copied the order and interface to AR and it doesn't complete with error.  It is only for this particular invoice that is having an issue and I need to get the root cause as to why.  Please help.  I appreciate what you all can contribute to identify and fix our issue.  We have not faced this issue in R11i that we are maintaining right now for the same program which has been running for sometime.  However, after the upgrade for this particular data that the user has created, it is throwing this error REP-271504897.

  • REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file;

    Hi,
I've a custom report in which i need to display a large string, of more than 4000 characters. To cater to this requirement i've written a formula column which displays string upto 4k characters and for a string of size beyond 4k i am calling a procedure which uses a temp table having a clob field.
For a small string the report runs fine but whenever a large string requirement comes into the picture, said procedure gets triggered and i get REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.
OPP log for the same gives an output as under:

    Problem Description
When running a *.REP generated report file you get errors:
REP-00002 Unable to retrieve string from message file
REP-01439 Cannot compile program since this is a runtime report
Running the same report using the *.RDF file is successful.
You are running the report with a stored procedure,
OR you are running against an Oracle instance other than the one developed on,
Or, you recently upgraded your Oracle Server.
    Solution Description
    1) Check that the user running the report has execute permissions on any stored
    SQL procedures called. <Note:1049458.6>
    2) Run the report as an .RDF not an .REP , that is remove or rename the .REP
    version of the report. <Note:1012546.7>
    3) Compile the report against the same instance it is being run against.

rep-0002 : unable to retrive string from report builder message file
i'm using developer/2000 ver 2.1 and my reports running under win95 platform and i'm using client/server techneque, when i start to distribute my reports to my users on their machines i got the above message , and i have to recompile all of my RDF files again on every user machine. this not all my story , but after some period may be 2 months these reports start to give the same message , again i must recompile all my RDF on every user machine.
please if any one have a solution for this mazing problem.
    thank you.

    bogdom and gaben,
I belong to your club too it seems. Though in my case the compilation was required on each database. Report used to work in the only that database in which they were compiled. Connecting to other database used to give this string error. Moreover this problem existed only for those reports in which i had used PL/SQL code in the formula columns. One way to avoid this is by writing all PL/SQL code in a library and call it in the formula column calculations.

  • DVDSP Build and Burn Error message

I am new to DVD Studio Pro and came across a problem during the build and burn process.
When I try to build/format or build, I get an error message that says:
Language codes for "English" and "English-2" must differ. Build cancelled.
I am not sure what to do. Does any one know what this means?
    Thanks

You made another language by mistake. Go to to the bottom of the outline and delete "English-2" and re-build.

  • Bit rate too high DVDSP, build stops.

DVD Studio Pro used to be DVD Maestro from Discreet, but I was thinking since Apple bought it long ago, it would have a forum.  I searched for DVD and DVDSP and only came up with this forum.
If anybody in here uses DVDSP and if you know the solution I would appreciate help with this.
Upon building this, I did lower the bit rate to a lower size after getting the error message.
As of now I have the BR between 4.2 and 5.2 as the max br.
I'm concerned if I lower it anymore it will start looking like a pixelated mess.  Does anybody know how low you can take the rate and still have a good looking project?
The project was taped in HDV.  However I encoded it using compressor so I don't think it's an HD file anymore that DVDSP can't read. In the settings you'll see "SD".
I'm using DVD Studio Pro 4.
The settings I used for compressor were:

The recording device reported the illegal request: Unknown device error. (0x30, 0x05.)

Hmmm... I don't think this is HD - just the name of the project is HHDVDPRO. In the log it does say creating a standard format... however, the OP should be able to clarify :-)
FWIW I would suggest there is a problem with the discs you are burning to, or perhaps with your burner itself. What media are you using? Have you ever cleaned your DVD player's laser?
On another note, I am assuming this is not going to replication, right? If so, you are burning a DVD-R and you need to check ALL of the regions, including 7, in order to make sure there is no contradiction between your project and the media you are writing to (which will report itself as region all (or have a region code mask value of zero). Checking region 7 will cause DVDSP to write the same value as the disc, which is good.
Next I note tht Lossless Linking is off - this is correct if you are going to send the disc for replication. If not, check the bx in the burn/format dialogue and turn it back on again. It is a form of buffer underrun prevention, and if good to leave on if you are burning your own discs.
Don't worry about the 'notes' in there about the '.LAY' files - all normal.
Finally, I see that certain parts are being 'skipped'. This usually indicates that you've one a build before now (probably to test something). If you made no changes after checking everything then that's fine... otherwise it is good practice to delete the test build files and start from scratch...
Finally, are you able to burn to a disc through the finder without any problems - can you create a CD, for example... or a data DVD?

  • Labview 8.6.1 - builder message vi is password protected

I am new in Labview 8.6.1 and I am receiving some messages that I can not explain why. While labview is building an executable I have few messages like the one posted in attachment. The messages are related to the vis that are part of Labview library and are password protected. Usually I ignore the messages. I wonder why I see such messages.
Another question: in Labview 7.1.1 you can see entire hierarchy of the project you want to build an executable from just in the builder by exploring the table from the VI Settings. Is it possible to see similar thing in Labview 8.6? Or Labview 8.6 builds from entire project no meter if I set the builder in a certain way with only some vis from entire project?

  • Quoting/threading phenomena in mail.app -- due to problems in incoming messages?

    Folks:
    Mail 5.1 on MacOS 10.7.x
I began using Mail.app when I installed 10.7, shortly after the initial release.
No problems with respect to unformatted email or replying to short, trivial length formatted message.  For complex, on-going discussions  I feel that consistent and reliable quoting and threading behavior are essential.   But that is not happening in some cases. I'd like to figure out why, and what I might do to fix the issue.
(Note:  I do not want to get into a discussion here of formatted versus unformatted email.  Both have their pros and cons. Nor do I want to spend a lot of time debating this issue with my correspondents.  As a matter of courtesy, I set Mail.app to respond using the same message format as the original message.)
When I reply to a formatted email,  I notice that mail.app sometimes draws a dark grey box --with rounded corners-- around one or more incoming paragraphs, placing a circled "X"  "close icon" at the upper left.   I don't get it.  To what does this correspond?  Why does mail.app mark-off this text and offer a "close icon"?   As far as I know I'm not doing anything that implies I might want to delete the text.
(Note:  Rummaging around in the corresponding message source, it seems that these boxes correspond to blockquoted text in the received message.)
Editing within one of these boxes is really unpredictable.  Sometimes I can select an insertion point and insert a line-break, in preparation of replying to the text just above.  Sometimes nothing happens. Sometimes I can select text, and cut it. Sometimes nothing happens at all to the selected text.
Mail.app commonly doesn't  correctly increase the quoting level in such paragraphs.  Using
        Format> Quote Level>Increase
to maintain threading history manually is fairly easy since I've defined a function-key shortcut, which works some of the time -- but  the effect of this command is unpredictable.  Sometimes this command deletes the selected text entirely.  (Grrrrrr!)  The workaround I've found is to select smaller chunks of text.  In such cases, this command generally works correctly.
Meanwhile, messages from exactly one person --who uses gmail exclusively-- are displayed in a completely unique threaded format by mail.app.  The entire short history of 5 messages from him are displayed on multiple virtual sheets in one message window, with the latest first.    In one view, clicking on the "see more" link at the bottom of his messages unleashes a cool-looking accordion opening effect and displays my part of the thread. (I guess.  I don't totally understand this display concept.  But it looks very cool and seems to handle quoting and threading pretty well.)
    What's going on?
My best guess is that mail.app is struggling with "inconsistencies" in the incoming messages from different people using various email clients.  I seem to recall reading that email tech specs  are a hodgepodge of evolving and contradictory  standards. Is that correct?   Is that the root of my issue?
Many of my correspondents are non-tekkies and/or non-affluent, and they use whatever email client they can afford.  Some could be using really old email clients.  That doesn't help, right?  Are blockquotes a really archaic formatting measure?
When these problems occur, they can cost me a lot of time and trouble.  It's really distracting to have to deal with portions of the incoming message disappear.
I don't think it is practical to persuade my correspondents to upgrade their email clients.  Some of them have trouble simply setting the preferences to support quoting.   Threading is a difficult concept for a few.
Any suggestions?   Any mail.app preference settings I might try adjusting?  Any add-ins?   Is it possible to tell Mail.app "interpret all incoming blockquotes tags as simple breaks" or strip them entirely?  Or ...?
    TIA

    haavee:
Thanks for your reply on this thread.
And thanks for the confirmation:  Yes, often difficult, and completely unworkable in some cases.
To my surprise, I've been able to find very few people reporting similiar observations.  Very little about this issue at all on the web.
I looked for command-key variations on Format --> Make Plain Text, hoping for a block action, but none I tried was any different.
Here is my current view of the issue:
    • For formatted messages, each email client operates differently.  If there is a standard it seems to be no more robust than "use simple HTML for formatted messages".
    • The "can't insert" issue, as well as those mysterious rectangle-surrounded blocks, seems very correlated with the presence of html <div> sections in the message.  It is awkward to experiment, so I've only done a limited amount.  My observations so far:
-- I don't think you can insert text anywhere "inside" a <div>, and mail.app seems to treat <div> as a "sticky" attribute -- e.g/ very difficult/impossible to remove without deleting the text inside.  The copy-style method doesn't seem to affect <div> tags.
-- Based on one case, it appears that message bodies composed of back-to-back <div> sections are impervious to inserts anywhere. (The email client used by one particular person with whom I've corresponded seems to build messages out of --you guessed it-- back-to-back <div> sections. Putting on my HTML coders hat -- I cannot see any sense at all in doing this. Smells to me like a kludge/hack, as you prefer.)
    • What about an applicable mail.app add-in?  I can find mail.app add-ins, but it seems the  mail.app tech info (API) isn't public, so those that exist are based on guesswork about how it works. This means that add-ins must be re-tooled possibly for each new version of mail.app. Altogether, not encouraging for add-in developers. And, yes, consistent with that the range of functionality I've seen is rather limited.  So, I've given up looking in the add-in category.
    • Applescript has commands for controlling mail.app generally, but I didn't see anything approaching the level of function necessary to remove <divs> by global search-and-replace. (I'm far from an Applescript expert, so it is very possible I missed something.) Nor did I see any general command such as Clean up dodgy HTML in message.  (I can dream!)
The only bit of progress I've had is finding TextSoap: http://www.unmarked.com/textsoap/ which may have promise. But I have had no time to evaluate it and it may be a month or so before I get a chance to check it out.
Looking at the upper right of the window in which I'm composing this message, there's a button "HTML" that lets me see --and edit-- the underlying HTML. On first glance, there's not enough functionality to, say, efficiently clean up all insert-resistant blocks in a message, but it looks practical to clean up individual blocks, and maybe that's all it would take.    Though I imagine that the user base for these forums is not very different from that of mail.app, I'm guessing adding this function to mail.app isn't even a dim possibity.  Oh, well...
I note you are happy with your solution, so I'll try see if a variation of it might help me.
    Thanks,
    h.2

    function QR_1RefCurDS return q_rep_test.dreccursor is
    tempc q_rep_test.dreccursor ;
    begin
    q_rep_test.add_days_tocurdate(:p_1,tempc);
    return tempc;
    end;
    ===
    1. Create a report
    2. create an user parameter(p_1)
    3. add a pl/sql as above
    4. run it(to verify the report works)
    5. save it.
    6. close the report
    7. Open it again, you get an as
"REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder Message file". Now it is corrupted and can't be used at all.

    Adobe Audition 6.0 Build 732 (64 bit)
Downloaded WAV file from internet in a ZIP. Unzipped it. Played it in iTunes. Quit iTunes. Right clicked the file and chose Open With and Adobe Audition CC. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've opened Audition on this computer, since I just recenly upgraded from an older MacBook. Edited the WAV, had the issue. Read the forums, closed and was prompted to save. Saved and then it finished closing. Right clicked on the file again and chose Open With and Adobe Audition CC. Now the file gave me the option to Save or Save As depending on how much further I edited the file, which was just cutting out more of the track. The razor tool, though, still not available. Had to put the cursor where I wanted, then used the Shift and Home buttons to select the beginning part of the track and the Delete key to remove it.

  • DVDSP 4 and Snow Leopard

I recently got a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard and I'm experience problems burning DVDs from with in DVDSP4. DVD burn without errors but won't play properly in a DVD player, skipping and acting weird.
However, if I use Toast 10 to burn the same TS folder inside the DVDSP Build folder it works fine. Is this a known issue?

Its very possible its your overall bitrates being too high. What settings did you use and did you use AC3 audio?
The bitrates were fine. These last two projects were 1.5 and 2 hrs long so I used a low bitrate in Compressor.
Just a quick word...you well get more knowledgeable advice here than on Apple support.
I actually I was pleasantly surprised by how knowledgeable Apple support was.

  • Jagged Edges - When compressing 50 minute clip - burned in DVDSP

I'm in the process of authoring four DVD's (mixed martial arts, muy thai etc) which was shot in HD on a Panasonic HVX-200 using the DVCPro HD codec, at 24 fps progressive.
2 of the four DVD's I'm having problems with jagged edges around the two fighters (two guys shot against a white backdrop), you can clearly see blocky artifacting around the edges of them.
I've tried exporting via compressor using a 1-pass VBR 6.2 Mbps min - 7.7 Mpbs max, imported into DVDSP, build the project, and then when I use the DVD player program, I can see the artifacting.
However, I have a couple of other clips on the DVD, that were exported the exact same way, and no artifacting is evident.
I tried re-encoding at a CBR of 7.7 Mpbs, no change. Any ideas?
One thing that I just thought of is that I have been using the same source folder when building the project as the previous versions (to save time rebuilding all the motion menus, etc). Could that be a reason? Would DVDSP be using some of the information from the older encoded video?
    Any thoughts please.

Make sure that you are encoding for 24p. Set the video format for 720p, and the frame rate for 23.98. You should also be using 2-pass VBR, not 1-pass.
