DVDSP not recognizing Chapter Markers from FCP?

We added Chapter Markers in FCP6. We exported one time with DVD Studio Pro Marker and tried the other time with Chapter Markers. We took it into Compressor and made the file into MPG-2 and imported into DVD Studio Pro, though it does not seem to recognize the chapter markers once in DVD Studio Pro.
Does anyone have any advice on what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks!

Or, just try selecting your sequence in FCP's browser, then go to the file menu and export using Compressor. Choose your setting, your destination, and hit submit. Saves steps, and it will export your complete sequence including chapter markers.

    might've posted this before...
ive used iDVD for a while and know the preference for the chapter markers from FCP 7 to iDVD.  finally using Studio pro trying to firgure out about automatic chapter markers.  I edited it in FCP X and exported it to make the chapters in FCP 7
I have a few different format files
    from FCP 7
8.03 gig DVD studio chapter marked
        8.03 gig compression marked
    then in compression
    best quality 90 min DVD
A dolby Digital Pro 2 says "the destiation does not have read/write access"
    or the mpeg 2     6.2mbps 2 pass      """"""
then I tried using individual clips from fcp 7 in/out export feature, but that seems to to be to large
how should i fix this annoying issue

    I'm talking about Compressor.
Compressor wants a destination to which to send an output file. Unless otherwise specifiedm the default destination is Source. That means it will be written to wherever (drive>folders path) the source file was stored.

  • Exporting chapter markers from FCP

I'm trying to export markers from my FCP (Final Cut Studio 2) timeline which I can then use as chapter points in DSP. I have exported the timeline with DSP markers but when I import the .mov into DSP no markers are apparent. Any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance. x

    Hello!
There is a few options here.
Personally I would suggest you send your timeline to compressor to encode to mpeg2 for DVDSP.
If you have placed those markers and made sure they are a <CHAPTER> in the comments section in your marker window, you can click add chapter marker in that window too, then the mpeg 2 will include those in DVDSP project when you import them.
(the marker window to make sure its a <Chapter> hit the M key when your play head is on the same frame as the marker.)
Bringing a quicktime into DVDSP has to encode the QT anyway... might as well do it right in compressor.
if thats not an option you can....
There is a way to import a "Marker List" but I dont remember how I did it. I just tried making a text edit document which I thought I did but that didnt work.
I will do some research and post back but I would suggest you encode your Project with chapter markers.
You can export using quicktime and include chapter makers too.. its a setting in your export options

  • Ipad not recognizing chapter markers

    Hi,
I can make a timeline in FCPro 7 - and I name the chapter markers with a number that corresponds  with, in this case, a horse hip number at a horse sale!
So I'll have a 30 minute movie edited in FCPro 7 with 10 chapter markers - all named with a number.
When I export to a SC movie - all chapter markers show up perfectly.  I then run the SC movie thru Compressor - and compress for iPad.  NOW, my problem begins.
When I drop the compression in iTunes and sync with my iPad (Model MB293LL)  - it syncs perfectly with the iPad - and I see the Chapter Markers - but the "names" of them are lost!  They're just renamed 1, 2, 3, etc and I've completely lost the number I've used to rename them???
So I "see" all the chapter markers - but their 'name' has been lost?
Interestingly, if I bring in the same movie to my iPhone - the Chapter markers show up perfectly!  And hold my "name" perfectly.  Is this an iPad bug?
But I could've sworn that a year or so ago, this did all work.  Anyone else have this issue - that the chater marer names are lost in iPad?
    Thanks,
    Larry

So from that I'd say it doesn't seem to be a quirk of Compressor's or FCP's reading of the markers.
Maybe an iOS or iPad-specific thing. Unfortunately, not owning an iPad, I can't try and replicate the problem.
You might want to try a short test where you create and name the markers in Compressor and see whether the names are retained.
Perhaps the iPad discussion forum could turn up someone who has had that experience…and a solution.
    Good luck.

  • Error Exporting Chapter Markers from FCP X

After upgrading to Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8, I am having problems exporting chapter markers.  Specially, at the end of the export, this error message appears and cancels the entire export:
Error Message: "The operation could not be completed because the chapter marker track could not be written (error -12769)."
As you can see, none of my markers are closer together than one to two minutes, and the error message appears whether I have a marker at the very beginning of the project, or occurring a few frames in.
The only report of this problem on Apple's support forums was caused by trying to read FCP X 10.0.5 markers in 10.0.6.  In this case, all my markers were created in 10.0.8.
This error persists even after trashing FCP X preferences and moving marker positions.
The file will export perfectly when chapter markers are not included in the export.
At this point, I don't have a good workaround.
    Thanks,
    Larry

Hi I have this same problem right now!
    Mac Mini
    OS 10.8.5
    FCP 10.0.9
No recent upgrades, nothing has changed.
It had been working fine since I bought the Mac Mini + software in 2013…)
I have already tried removing the markers, deleting all markers and making new ones, creating a new project and pasting the old sequence into it (without markers), creating new markers in the new project, etc...
I still cannot create a master file (unless I deselect 'use chapter markers'), or unless I select a range of the project which does not include markers!
    Please Help!

  • Importing Chapter Markers from FCP

I create chapter markers in Final Cut Pro and bring the movie into iDVD for mastering. But when I playback the DVD, there are no chapter markers on screen. What should I be doing that I'm not doing?

Final Cut Express & Final Cut Pro: How to export a movie with chapter markers for iDVD
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42973
I recommend against using anything but "Chapter Markers" upon export as it has been known to cause issues with previous and current versions of iDVD. Since we don't know exactly why this affects some users and not all users, it is best to avoid the issue altogether and just use "Chapter Markers."
If you know that you will be sending your footage to DVD SP, then use DVD Studio Pro Markers upon export.

  • Import Chapter Markers con FCP to DVDSP

I have a movie with 13 Chapter Markers in FCP 5.0.4
I have imported this to DVDSP 4.0.3 but there are no chapter markers.
I have exported the mvoie as DV PAL using Quicktime.
Quicktime sees all the chapter markers. I can jump to each chapter.
In DVDSP I made a new track and drag-drop the exported DV file to this track.
So far that's fine. I can preview the track. However, there is only one chapter marker at the beginning of the track.
where have all the other markers gone?
I am a complete newbe to DVDSP.
    Thanks for your advise.

    Hi Yoochul !
Thanks, right, I was looking for the 'add chapter marker' in the cmd-alt-M pop-up menu.
btw: I import file from FCP using 'export quicktime movie' and let DVDSP do the encoding. This is because Compressor corrupts my file system unavoidably.
Is there a quality difference if I encode using compressor or DVDSP? I guess I read some months ago that DVDSP is better than compressor anyway?
    many thanks

  • Will iDVD 08 recognize chapter markers from FCE 3.5 HD?

Will iDVD 08 recognize chapter markers from FCE 3.5 HD?
    Thanks, Ed

A qualified "yes". Meaning it should work as stated but in practice there are some issues. There are fewer issues with FCE => iDvd6 than there currently are with iLife'08. I don't have a good explanation for this.
Btw, this is strictly an observation on my part from reading this forum. Keep in mind I do not own / work with FCE but rather with FCP => DVDSP as well as with apple's i-Apps.

  • Importing chapter markers from Final Cut Pro

I usually set up my chapter markers and screen shots in FCP.
If I share this to QuickTime or iTunes library, the chapter markers are present and work well.
This was not always the case but since the latest update of FCP it works like a charm.
However if I export it to COMPRESSOR (because it works faster) the markers are lost.
I have successfully set channel markers in COMPRESSOR and that works, but my work flow seems to make more sense to set up the channels in FCP. (this is mostly because I often decide to do an edit change when I think about the marker...)
COMPRESSOR gives me the option to load markers, but I don't know how to get them out of FCP.
    So...
What do I need to do to export markers from FCP so they can be imported to COMPRESSOR.
(before you ask, both FCP and COMPRESSOR are the latest post-Christmas, vastly improved versions.
    Thanks.

Barry, You shouldn't have to do anything. What settings are you compressing to?

  • Missing Chapter Markers from Final Cut Express

I have created DVDs with chapters using iMovie and iDVD. No problems. Now I have upgraded to Final Cut Express HD, and I cannot get iDVD to see its chapter markers.
I have followed the Knowledge Base article to the letter. I was careful to have nothing selected in the time line when applying markers. Following hints in this forum I have tried exporting either Chapter Markers or FCP Markers. I have tried exporting the Quicktime movie self contained or not. I have tried restarting Final Cut Express, which helped when other FCX features locked up after long sessions.
I'm stuck. Can anyone suggest something else to try?

    Hi Al Q,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
    Suggestion,two things to check:
Open the exported QuickTime movie in QT Player, do you see the chapter markers (a pop-up menu below the viewer)? If it is, then the export from FCE is okay, otherwise, something is still not correct in FCE.
Check the iDVD's Preferences, is the "automatically create scene selection menus" enabled?

  • Compressor H.264 not exporting Chapter Markers

I am still struggling to see chapter markers show up in DVD Studio Pro using compressor & H.264. Compressor outputs the Chapters markers when using MPEG2. My understanding is that this should be automatic.

The following information appears in DVDSP 4.1 Late Breaking News file:
Exporting H.264 Clips With Markers From Final Cut Pro
Compressor does not export chapter markers when using its H.264 for HD DVD presets. You can either create a chapter marker text file that you can import or manually add the chapter markers in DVD Studio Pro directly..

  • Removing unwanted chapter markers from m2v files

I inadvertantly left some unwanted chapter markers in FC sequences which I then exported as m2v files. Is there any way to remove the chapter markers from the m2v files so I don't have to re-render to m2v? I have lots of files!

The original files were edited in FCP, then edited in Motion to add graphic overlays. From there, they were rendered as m2v using Compressor.
The chapter markers are all visible in both FCP and Motion, but both of those options require re-rendering from the source file type back to m2v. This is a time consuming step that I'm hoping to avoid by, somehow, removing the chapter markers from the m2v file itself.
I just need to know if there is any way to remove a chapter marker from an m2v file.

  • Lightroom 4.4 not recognizing RAW files from supported cameras

I started to get problems with Lightroom not recognizing RAW files from my Fuji XE-1 and Canon 5D Mark 3 cameras but I thought it was a problem with RC. After downloading some files today in 4.4 without a problem I encountered the same error message (unable to inport listed RAW files) again. The files open fine in Bridge. Any idea what is causing this problem?

    Hi Geoff
I use a Mac with the latest version of Mountain Lion OS. The image files are being imported from the cards; in the case of the Fuji an SD card inserted in the card reader slot on the Mac and in the case of the Canon a CF flash card in a card reader attached to the Mac.
Appreciate any help you can provide.

  • Exporting Chapter Markers from FCPX

In FCP7 I can export my master file with it's chapter markers to a new movie file ready for DVDStudioPro.
How do you export chapter markers from FCPX?
Also, FCP7 allows you to export without making a self contained movie file that DVDStudioPro can use to burn the DVD.
Is it possible to export from FCPX without making a self contained movie file?
    If so, how?
    Thank you for your help.

If you're going to DVD Studio Pro, it will need to transcode to mpeg-2 at some point.  If you exported a referenced QT movie from FCP7 previously, then DVD Studio Pro was doing the transcoding for you.
In FCPX, I suggest exporting using Compressor 4.  Apply the DVD preset (mpeg2 video and dolby digital audio) and you can also apply chapter markers within Compressor.
Import the 2 resulting files into DVD Studio Pro and no further transcoding (other than menus) will need to be performed when you burn the disc.
