DVDSP4 STOPS encoding and sticks at approx 61% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it that DVDSP4 WORKED okish until the latest OSX update?????????
Help anyone as I am trying to produce a DVD for a customer (as usual) and now it will not do it and also compressor quits and fails in the batch monitor - this sounds a little too much of a coincidence to me!

  • Media encoder time remaining stops decreasing and processor drops to zero. Time elapsed keeps going up! File won't complete!

    Please help anyone who can.
Firstly I know I have very little RAM on my system, only 4GB but I've been rendering the same kinds of files for weeks with no problems until the last few days.
They biggest issues is as follows:
My timeline in Premiere Pro CC 2014 has 1080p 50mbps MXF footage from a Sony PMW 200 and some similar footage replaced with an After Effects comp for green screen keying.
The clip, approx 2min, starts with a linked comp from after effects, then cuts to the mxf footage and back to a linked comp at the end.
I am exporting via media encoder to h264 1080p. The file rendered fine for about 40min with the processor at 50% approx. The processor then shot up to 99% for 10 mins and the render progress bar
went up to almost 90% complete.
Then the progress bar stopped, the processor dropped to 0%, time remaining is steadily climbing and so is time elapsed. I've tried pausing and un pausing the render que and nothing else is running in background.
I need these files rendered tonight!! I've tried this a few times and this problem keeps occurring sometimes with the remaining time shooting up to 74 hours!!
Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?!
    Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)
    Dell Precision workstation 690
    Intel xeon X5365 3ghz (x2)
    4 GB RAM

Sounds exactly like what is happening to me.  This is frustrating because it was a 30 hour encoding process and the place where it is stuck is right at the very end of the sequence on the 2nd pass, although there is still about 12% of the progress bar remaining.  I guess that this is where it takes all its work and puts the separate files into the single video file. I really don't want to go through this again. The final video file is showing up though and is shown having the size that I am expecting it to be.
Any workarounds to somehow get this unstuck?  I am hesitant to just try and open the file. I am going to try a couple of things and if I am successful at getting this to finish without restarting then I will be sure to post it here.
Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with this problem, but I looked at my system Activity Monitor, and there is a CPU process highlighted in red, it states:
         Adobe QT32 Server (not responding)
    Thirty minutes later...
I was incorrect above as to the actual problem.  I paused the queue encoding that was stuck, then opened up the project again in Premiere Pro only to discover that there was an offline still image which I stupidly had renamed during the day. So I renamed the file back to its original name, reconnected the picture, saved the PP project. Then I started the encoding back up and still no luck.
So I paused the encoding again, went back into the PP project and rendered just the area under question, saved it, and exported it into the queue. Then just to be safe I went to the paused item in AME, and duplicated it adding another version into the queue.
Then I unpaused the encoding and ... SUCCESS!!  Not sure which of the final steps did the trick, but I am guessing that it was the rendering of the part of the sequence that it was stuck on.  Hope this helps someone.

Stuck with black screen with Apple and download bar approx 1 quarter done. Downloading Yosemite. It has completely stopped. I can't access anything. Please help

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

  • Media encoder STOPS ENCODING!! help!

I am encoding my premier pro project in Media encoder, but it stops encoding every time. It happends on different locations, its not in the same spot every time. I had sooo much problem with permiere cc.
Any one knows a solution to this???
    I am exporting H.264 HD 1080p 25
I really need to get my project done

Peferling... I have a positive update! I went to the area that typically made things die. I noticed it was at the tail end of where I inserted a sequence into another sequence. I also noticed I had three tracks in that section with graphics. So I copied all the tracks from the inserted sequence... then removed the inserted sequence and re-inserted the actual tracks. At this point I no longer had an inserted sequence. I then simplified the three tracks of graphics into one. Re-applied my transitions and did last tweaking. I once again tried exporting as H.264 HD... et voila! It worked! Something must have been breaking it.
For now I'm okay and have been able to export into other formats. I want to thank you so much for your input. Regards, Nelson

  • Media encoder stops encoding at the end of the video (Premiere CC 2014)

I've finished editing a video (just under 4 minutes). When I try to export it to a windows media file (HD 1080p) it always stops encoding at around the 50% mark.
I have tried exporting to a shared network drive as well as the local hard drive with the same results.
I have it set to: Mercury Playback Engine Software Only
I have tried to export directly from Premiere and from Media Encoder.
I looked at where it stops when exporting from Encoder through the preview window. It seems to reach the end of the video and stops right where I fade out to white and the music ends. The interesting part it that the timer shows 50% left to complete
It doesn't crash... it just sits there with the timer increasing and never continues
    I'm not using any plugins.
At the point where it stops, I have a "Dip to White" transition on the one video clip and no audio transitions applied to the soundtrack since it ends nicely with the video.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can/should explain to get some help. Thank you so much for your help.

  • Media Encoder stops encoding but doesn't stop running!

What I mean by this is,
I set up a bunch of files to begin encoding into various different forms, carefully check the settings and hit the go/run/play button and things kick off nicely.
Using the Dynamic Link option to encode right out of Premiere Pro CC project sequences.
Trouble is that occasionally I will return to the machine to see that the current file is still encoding and it's taking way longer than expected. On closer look though, the thumbnail is not moving and the remaing time is just slowly going up and up.
AME shows that all is well and it seems to be working but actually nothing is happening and I have to stop the process, reload the files and start all over again!
Time is precious right now and I can't trust AME to do the job!
    Anyone else had this experience?
Formats I am encoding into: H.264 for BluRay; H.264 for Web; Mpeg2 for DVD. Use a mix of VBR 2-pass for the physical discs and CBR for the web (as this is what Vimeo recommend). Shorter files of about 15-20mins or less seem to have more luck than any file over 30mins.
    Any help greatlly appreciated.

    Hi Thomas,
    Thanks for your reply.
It doesn't appear to be the problem though. The encode I have running at the moment has been going for the last 13 hours and in the last two hasn't once got any further along!
Current elapsed time for a 30 minute film going to MPG2 is 13 hours and 18 minutes! Seems a touch excessive for just muxing!
Any other ideas? Would be really grateful for any advice as Adobe Media Encoder is becoming very unreliable and I have tonnes of encoding to do!
    Many thanks

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 stops encoding!

OS: Windows XP 32 bit SP3.
Hello, I've been working with Premiere Pro CS4 and Media Encoder CS4 since 2008 and it always worked fine. Now i've got a big problem that I don't understand: Media Encoder CS4 stops encoding at about 10-12 seconds after the encoding starts.
The curious thing is that the software really does not crash, it just stops encoding, the time counter freezes, but Media Encoder does not crash itself, you can add or delet video, edit preferences, etc.
It doesn't matter what kind of video I try to encode, I've tried Premiere sequences but also independent video files. It always happens the same and I really don't know what to do.
I have the latest versions of both software... can anybody please help me??

That software and OS are both pretty old.  You may find there aren't too many people still using them to help on this one.

  • Exporting to Media Encoder and file locating issue

Ok, Now I've read a LOT of threads trying to find a solution to this but none of them have answered my problem exactly, so here's what I have:
Running a New computer with a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit and Adobe CS4 Master Suite
    Hardware:
    Dell Precision M6400
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU  T9900 @ 3.06 Ghz, 3.07 Ghz
    12.0 GB Ram
Premiere ran fine for a while, but soon I've run into a problem where I try to export to the Media Encoder and I keep getting the error:
"Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted"  over and over
I have deleted recently imported media one at a time to try and locate what's causing it since it wasn't doing this before, but no luck.  So I restarted the program but now the Premiere project won't open.  The task bar loads until about 2/3 in and stops there indefinitely, I've left and came back to it 2 hours later and it hadn't moved.  I back tracked and found a previous save that will open, but it still will not export, it still says "Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted".  And as soon as I update anything and save a new file that one will not open either.
I've tried recompressing each video file into a format I know works well with Premiere but still no difference.
This problem has plagued my workflow for a while now and I can't take it anymore.  I've had to restart clean project files to try to work around it but I lose so much progress, and the work around by rendering the premiere file through After effects hasn't worked either.  The error I get there says "Dynamic link server is busy".
Here's what the problem is not:  It is not because I uninstalled CS3 or any other previous version, I've never had it on this computer.  It's not a plugin problem, I don't have any plugins on this install except for the default ones that Came with Adobe Master Suite for Premiere Pro.
Someone please help me, this is ridiculous that I have had to trouble shoot the program this much.  Both CS4 and Windows 7 have been around for over a year now and neither are in Beta Editions

Wow, sorry, forgive me if I've seen most forums work with a lot less, and your dismissiveness led me to assume you hadn't read my post.
All of this is new and up do date as far as Adobe and Windows updates go, that's Version 4.2.1.
My projects for this are all in NTSC Widescreen DV 24P, the particular sequence that I render from is in that format as well, although regardless of which one I use the problem keeps occurring.
My renders for my recent purposes have been compressed in .h264, IPOD video Large.  The codec I'm rendering in also doesn't seem to matter, because I've tried this in .avi., .mov, .h264, .wav, etc. and all with various settings that I thought might help, but the encoder quits encoding 4 seconds in and gives me the error that it can't find the media.
And I didn't mention the media type and what not because it seems irrelevent of what I use this problem keeps happening.  I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the project file or perhaps the media encoder or both.
And I don't know what you mean by "disks"
Do I have a Raid set up on my hard disk?  No, I have two 0.5 TB hard drives, Programs on one (C:\) Projects on the other (D:\).
What address am I saving the scratch disks to?  I use the default of "same as Project".  Have I tried Clearing it?  Yes.
    I don't think I'm getting at what you're asking.
And I don't think I've ever used an .xlsm (which is excel?) file and I've definitely never used a Power point project (PPS?) file in my projects.  And they open in their respective programs, although I'm not sure why you asked about that.  Again I'm not sure I know what you mean.
The Premiere Project (.prproj) file is what I'm trying to open when the progress bar stops at 2/3 the way through and forces me to terminate the process with the task manager to close it.
It would help to mention that all my projects are animated and I use premiere to cobble them together, so no problems that relate to transferring media from a camera to the computer would apply here.  Most of the files I get out of Maya are in Default .avi or .mov files, and I also use a handful of .wav files for the dialogue and .jpgs for cards and placeholders.
I believe that this problem began when I updated a few of the files in my project, but I've been doing that for weeks without incident.  I've been updating them by saving over the old media file with the updated one of the same name, length, and type.
I don't work exclusively with Premiere, in fact it's not what I usually use, that would be Final Cut Pro.

  • Encoder and analog feedback together

I am using a PCI 7344 board that will operate up to 4 axis with both encoder and transducer feedback.
The user will have the ability to switch between the two types of feedback whilst on the fly with the system momentarily executing a stop command before re-configuring itself in the other mode be it encoder or transducer. This works fine.
My problem is - when I am in encoder feedback mode, I do not get a feedback reading from my transducer as my primary feedback device is the encoder and as such the output given is for the primary device. I need to be able to see the analog feedback device whilst operating with the encoder and primary feedback.
I may have a solution to this, by using one of the feedbacks as the secondary feedb
ack although could not find any information regarding secondary feedback on NI's web site.

    Hello,
First of all, analog feedback can not be used as secondary feedback. When you are running on analog signal as your primary feedback, you should be able read encoder data calling the Read Encoder Position.flx. When you are running on encoder as your primary feedback, you should be able read analog data calling the Read ADC.flx. If you do the enabling/disabling properly when you are switching from one feedback mode to other, you should be able to read all the signals.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to stop defragmenting and start living - Revisit

    Hi,
When deal with fragmentation, most of the time we will be directed to read the technical paper (How to stop defragmenting and start living). If i'm not mistaken, this was published in the year of 1996/1998 for Oracle version 7/8.
Time passed and we are now at 11g and i can't help to wonder if the many good advices still hold true? I've seen posting saying forget about segment with > 1024 extents, as it doesn't degrade performance.
I want to stick to that advice, but...its kind of old! Or maybe old is as good as gold.
    Rgds
    Ung

Realistically, any recent Oracle version is going to use locally managed tablespaces, using either uniform or autoallocated extent sizes. In either case, it is practically impossible to have fragmentation, so there is exceptionally little that a DBA could even do if he wanted to. You don't set extent sizes at the table level any longer, you don't set PCTINCREASE, at most you pick an extent size for each tablespace and pick with tablespace an object is going to reside in.
The principles from that white paper are still very valid. It's just that Oracle has made it exceptionally difficult to deviate from them now.

  • VM got stuck in "stopping" state, and cannot be stopped

    Dear all,
I am using Oracle VM 3.2.2.
One of my VM got stuck in "stopping" state, and cannot be stopped.
How can I troubleshoot this problem...

Q: Is the VM still running, i.e. can you ssh to the VM?
Q: Find the server where the VM is running, and restart the ovs-agent, i.e. "service ovs-agent restart". Did this help, or is the agent crashed, any zombies?
Possible root cause: These type of errors are typically ovs-agent bugs. First update oracle vm manager to the 3.2.4 release, not 3.2.6. Next update the dom0s to 3.2.4, not 3.2.6. You may need to setup a ULN 3.2.4 yum repo to update the dom0s. As you can see in these forms, 3.2.6 is may not ready for prime time, stick with 3.2.4, is stable.

  • Media Encoder CS4 stops encoding half way through

I am going a little bit insane.
Running PP and Media Encoder CS4 on Windows 7 and attempting to export a 5 minute film on preset 'Download NTSC Source' (but this happens no matter what settings I use): Media Encoder runs for approximately 5-6 minutes, loads the sequence, begins to encode and then stops.
It doesn't spit out an error message, it finishes the file (a 6MB .wmv file (on these settings) that plays a blip of white and then ends) but never gets further than four minutes through what should be a 35 minute encode process.
I've trashed the prefs, I've run all the updates, I'm using XP Compatibility mode ... I literally cannot figure out why the process should just ... stop.
    Help??

    Welcome to the forum!
Do you have any titles, graphics or MOV files near the beginning of your sequence?  I think there was a bug in CS4 that would trash the encode if they were there.  It was eventually solved -- either through an update or in CS5.  Make sure your copy of CS4 is fully updated.

  • Media Encoder Stops Encoding with the New CS5.5

I just upgraded to CS5.5 a yesterday and having some issues encoding an 1 1/2 program for a DVD. The program doesn't seem to crash per se, just stops encoding. The task manager says it's running. I tried to encode the same sequence, but shorter and have the in and out points go through the part where it always stops and it worked fine. It's just when I try the entire sequence it stops. Anyone have any experience like this with CS5.5 just coming out?
    Thank you,
    Doug

Well, my problem happened with CS5, not 5.5. I don't encode enough to be able to say that it continues to be a problem. However, I would still pull up my CS4 AME if I needed to encode something again. But honestly, it sounds like the same problem as I had. My problem may have been further complicated by running CS5 as 64 bit.
For the record, I was never able to fully encode the f4v file I was given. AME behaved as though it was corrupt at the same point each time, shaving off about a half hour of the presentation. For several days I thought it was only a half hour presentation! I was given this file by an a/v company that caters corporate meetings. It was a video that combined a Powerpoint presentation and the audio from the podium. I asked for a file that I could use for Flash because their world is all Quicktime.
As I said, in the end the only way I could salvage this project was to extract the audio by encoding the f4v with Quicktime Pro and then use a third party software to marry it to the PPT presentation for a flash movie. That is a whole other issue I wish Adobe would look into, being able to encode PPT for flash. Corporations are doing some really cool presentations for business but MS just doesn't play well with Adobe Flash. It would really help me to be able to take my client's stuff and put it up on the web easily.
The young guy I work with said it was the lack of Quicktime codecs on my computer that was the hangup because in all likelihood they encoded the f4v with Final Cut Pro.
I work in a broadcast HD tv station. We are attempting to transition our clients commercial material to database for use on-air using computer files they provide (to get away from video tape). I can't tell you how much trouble missing codecs has been with this. Clients make their stuff in all kinds of environments and it can be professional or amateur. Sometimes the video is there but the audio is missing or vice versa. Sometimes one 30 sec spot will be fine, but the next one in the same file will take a 30 sec spot and stretch it into a 5 min timeline, losing the audio and playing the video slo mo. Our editing system is Grass Valley's Edius so that adds a whole new problem with codecs. It took us a long time just to figure out how to open a .mov on a timeline. So in the end we replaced one headache with muliple tape formats to a bigger headache with multiple codecs and proprietary software programs.

  • Media Encoder and FTP hang?

Does Adobe Media Center appear to hang when uploading a big file? I'm seeing network activity and a program called PhotoshopServer.exe is running and using a little CPU power but Media Encoder says that it is Not Responding.
    I'm running on Vista 64-bits.
I'm going to let it run for awhile before terminating but it seems like FTP should be in its own thread/program and not stop Encoder from running.

I use this feature quite often, and yeah...it sometimes takes awhile to upload the finished file and AME just sits there until it's done.
You'll see the green check mark when it's all done uploading.

  • SOAP Encoding and the real need

I just read the below from the site here-
SOAP encoding has fallen out of favor in the Web services community. It is not supported by the WS-I basic profile. So JAX-WS, as the latest incarnation of Java Web services, has disallowed SOAP encoding. JAX-RPC supports SOAP encoding, so if you really must use SOAP encoded messages, stick with JAX-RPC.
I am new to Web Services and am familiar with DOC/Literal only.
Why will anyone want to create a "new" Web service in Encoded format?
What was the real need SOAPEncoding has served when there is a separate standard named XML Schema?
    Just curious to explore-

    Hello,
The WS-I work constrains the various web service specification to a
    functional subset that exhibit the greatest degree of interoperability;
certainly there are many other features (quality of service, security,
attachments, etc.) that are provided by WebLogic web services; this does
not negate the fact that BP 1.0 compliance can be easily achieved.
