Dvi cable with hp w2007 display

I recently purchased an hp w2007 monitor to use with the mac mini. The VGA cable works fine using the dvi to vga adapter on the mini. However, when I connect the dvi-d cable that came with the monitor I get a black screen and a "no input signal" message. I contacted hp and we tried several things, but no change. I did a safe start-up and still no success. HP sent me a new dvi-cable but stillno success. Any other suggestions?

cathypt and amandamac, please notice the below link with some specific information that might help with your HP w2007. The solution linked to involves using a third-party program to build a custom timing that the HP will run from. cathypt, I notice you say you get a blank screen even when starting in Safe mode. That's going to be a problem because you need to get some kind of screen going over DVI for the solution to work.

  • DVI cable with windows

I have a 50" TV I connect to often with my MacBook Pro using a DVI cable. My son wants to connect his MacBook to the TV using the DVI adapter to fit his computer(we purchased it) and play his PC games using the windows side of his Mac. I can't get it to work at all. Is there some setting on Windows (we are using XP) that I need to change? I have never tried to us the TV as a monitor with windows on my Mac before.

  • Using the mini DVI - DVI cable with HDMI LCD screen?

    Hi,
I bought the apple mini DVI - DVI connector to connect my imac to the back of my plasma. I have a 3 meter DVI cable to extend the mini DVI - DVI connector.
It worked fine but the plasma is not so good for my purposes as i am using the set up to display images.
I have just bought an LG LCD TV for a very good price.
However the LG LCD does not have DVI socket! It has HDMI.
Is there a cable available that is DVI (female) - HDMI?
And will this work in theory?
    Any advise is much appreciated...
    Thanks

    Hi Network 23,
Im not sure what you mean exactly?
Which adapters and cables are you using between TV and Mac?
My PowerBook and MacBook Pro have a DVI port, so I start there. I guess you're starting from the DVI port at the end of your adapter cable. At this point we both start from a standard DVI port.
From there I attach the DVI-HDMI adapter I linked to earlier, and then between that and the HDMI port on the TV, I use a simple, inexpensive HDMI cable also bought at monoprice.com. While you could also use a DVI-HDMI cable, I chose to use a DVI-HDMI adapter so that I could use standard HDMI cables, since I anticipate buying more HDMI components in the future.

  • Why no use a DualLink DVI Cable with the MiniDP-DVI adapter to power 30"?

    I'm a bit confused here...
looking at my Mini-DisplayPort to DVI adapter, the pinout appears to be a Dual Link DVI port. Is this true?
Can someone explain to me why I can't just buy a Dual Link DVI Cable now and use this to power my 30" monitor at its native resolution?
I would have thought this was gone over many times already - but I have been unable to find it.
    Am I missing something?

A Mini DisplayPort to single-link DVI adapter just has to connect pins between to two connectors. The computer detects the adapter, and send DVI signals over the Mini DisplayPort connector that end up on the correct DVI pins. Unlike DisplayPort, DVI uses separate data and clock video signals, and there are not enough DisplayPort signals to handle clock and video for dual-link. The Mini DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapter contains circuitry to separate video and clock signals from self-clocked DisplayPort signals, so can drive all the required pins on a dual-link DVI port. This circuitry gets power from a USB cable that plugs into the computer. This makes it more complicated and more expensive than the single-link version.

  • Extending DVI cable length for 30" display

With my new home office setup the computer will sit 25ft from the 30" Cinema display, so what are my options connecting this beast?
    +
DVI Coupler (Female to Female) and DVI Male Digital/DVI Male Digital Dual Link (24AWG) Cable - 25FT
Would that work? Or maybe switch to an HDMI solution with DVI to HDMI adapters?
    Thanks!

A 10 ft. dual-link DVI extension should work, depending on the quality of the cable. Try to find a M-F cable, so you won't need a gender changer. You want to have the minimum number of connections.

  • Replace DVI cable for 20in Cinema Display

Need to replace the DVI portion on the power/connector coming from the back of the display. It was ripped out when someone attempted to steal. Is this possible or do I have to buy another monitor?

Apple or an authorized repair center can fix it, but it may not be worth the cost.

  • Mac mini display is flicking via HDMI to DVI adapter and DVI cable

i have received mac mini server (mid 2011) recently. mac mini is connecting the display via HDMI port using DVI cable with a HDMI to DVI adapter.
the display shows constant flicking. white dots/lines show randomly. it is like those signal noise when watching analog TV.
the same display works fine and well with macbook pro (early 2008) via DVI port.
    please help. please advise.

So you know the display is working.
It seems to me you have a few possible problems.
    1 HDMI-DVI cable is bad
    2 DVI-cable is bad
3 Connections between cables or computer or monitor are bad.
4 HDMI port on the computer is bad.
I assume you've tried #3, and re-connected cables and wiggled inputs.  So then try replacing 1 and then replacing 2 which are cheaper fixes than replacing/fixing 4.........
FYI, I'm connect my mac mini using the same setup you describe, with no issues....also inspect the cable ends carefully to look for any problems.

  • Satellite A205: Dynadock - How to connect to LCD TV with HDMI to DVI cable

I recently purchased this product and had a problem when connecting it to my LCD TV.
I used a HDMI to DVI cable to connect it to the TV. Only a small portion of the full display shows on the TV.
I have adjusted all setting on the laptop (Satellite A205) but it only adjusts the laptop screen, not the TV.
I also used the adaptor to VGA, plugged it into the computer input on TV, same effect. I can use VGA output on side of laptop to TV ok.
Any ideas on how to adjust dynadock output settings?

First of all it would be interesting to know what dynadock you have exactly; one with DVI port or one with VGA port?
    >I have adjusted all setting on the laptop (Satellite A205) but it only adjusts the laptop screen, not the TV.
You should know that the dynadock has a own built-in graphics controller and video drivers to control the video stream.
Therefore you should change the settings directly in the dynadock settings and not on the laptop!!!

  • Why my new Mac mini  DVI dual link mini display port adapter doesn't work  with my 30"display (LG W3000H)?

    Hello There
Can any of you advise on the below? Tried to connect Mac mini with a 30" display through a DVI dual link mini display port adapter. For the first try Mac mini go connected to the display, then i've chosen the highest resolution (2560x1600, native) and right at that moment they got disconected. Since then the display stays black. What can be the issue, is it possible DVI dual link mini display port adapter is not compatible with 30"display (LG W3000H)? It works with DVI male-male cable plus DVI HDMI adapter as long as the resolution stays under 1280x800. Any idea is much appreciated.
    Thank you, Vera

    Hi,
I can report that my Mac Mini Intel Duo connected instantly and without even having to set it up (on the first try) with my 1366x768 native resolution DELL 50" Plasma Display. It's so beautiful that I just want to stand there and fondle my HDTV as I drool haplessly like Homer Simpson with a doughnut in his mouth. Seriously, no problems.... guess I bought the right cable (ebay).
Before you buy a Duo, make sure you're aware of the airport and bluetooth issues that so many (maybe everyone who tries to use them together) are having. It seems that bluetooth interferes with airport, or maybe the other way around. Anyway, it's messed up. Also, Airport reception is generally VERY poor with the new Intel Mac Mini.
Despite these things, I still love mine (I now have 2 base stations and an airport express for my powerhouse wireless needs, and an external DLink bluetooth-2-USB dongle solved the bluetooth/airport issues... in my case).

  • Please confirm use of mini DVI-Video (s-video) cable with Macbook

    Hi,
I have tried to use the Mini DVI-> Video cable with my new Macbook in order to be able to connect to my TV.
Unfortunately it doesnt work, I do get the resolution change when I plug in the cable but nothing on the TV. I went back to the local Apple center and they tested the cable on a Powerbook G4, it worked flawlessly. Then they tried a monitor on my Macbook's DVI port, it also worked.
But when trying the mini DVI to Video cable on the Macbook, no luck!
Can anybody please confirm they have used this cable and connected successfully to a TV?? Using either the s-video option or composite?
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Best Regards,
    Thomas
    G5 DP2.0, Macbook Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I can confirm that the s-video connection to a standard CRT TV using the mini-DVI video adapter does NOT work with my MacBook.
The display is detected, and when mirroring is enabled, the resolution on the MacBook display is adjusted, but the TV doesn't display the MacBook signal. Instead, I get a black screen or some random flickers of color. Following the instructions in the help files, I've adjusted the resolution down to its lowest level with no success.
My guess is that this is related to the fact that the integrated graphics relies on system RAM, and I am running my machine with the stock 512 Mb RAM it shipped with (2 GB are on their way).
On the off chance it would help, I even tried closing the display, in hopes that the memory savings from turning off the MacBook display would enable the TV signal, but no luck.
Thomas, how much RAM do you have in your MacBook?
Those of you who have been successful using external displays, are any of you using the stock 512 Mb RAM?

  • Macbook can't detect external display via DVI cable

I just bought Samsung PX2370 monitor and attempt to connect it with my Macbook Aluminum (late 2008). I have mini display port to DVI adapter and DVI cable. When I hook up my Mac, nothing comes up. The screen on macbook goes blue briefly and then back to normal, but nothing has been detected. I've manually set the source of signal to DVI, and tried to use Detect Display but nothing happens. Even I try to detect the monitor by using Windows 7 (via bootcamp), the display remains idle.
I had tested the monitor using DSLR although by HDMI, it work.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey hparekh and welcome to the forum -
It looks like you have the correct hardware. You should check your connections... make sure your using the Mini DisplayPort and not the Ethernet port (common mistake) and all of the connections are plugged completely. Make all of your connections with your MacBook on and then turn your Dell on. You might need to go through your Dell's setup to make sure that it's recognizing a DVI input rather then HDMI.
Might be a bad DVI cable or a defective monitor or maybe a bad Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. Are they all new products?

  • HD video movies with DVI cable

Would it work to visualize an ITunes HD movie on a TV screen with a MacBook (end 2008) using a mini-display to DVI cable ?
    Thanks

Thanks for the response- the model type is 6475 R1G as stated.
Anyway I reran the full System update and accepted all driver updates including the BIOS upgrade and eventually the Win7 Resolution control panel displayed a 3rd screen - it was treating the laptop screen as 1, Analog d-sub output as 2 and DVI output as 3. Managed to set screen 3 as the main display and it now works.
Was working fine without all the driver upgrades etc with previous DVI monitor. Wierd...

Can I attach my HP monitor w1907 to Mac air with a DVI cable?

You need to use a DVI to Mini DisplayPort adapter; for a 30-inch display, the adapter needs to be dual-link.

  • Dvi cable not compatable with elite 8000

Hello! First post. I just bought a refurb HP Elite 8000,windows 7 and new HP 20xi monitor. DVI cable is not compatable with port on computer. Adaptor available? Can I use just the VGA cable?
    Thanks.

    Hi:
If you want to have digital video, then you need a display port to dvi cable.
In addition to the analog VGA port, that is the other video out port that the 8000 Elite has.

  • Which kind of DVI cable to use with a KVM switch?

Hi. I have a Power Macintosh G5 and three (3) Mac Minis. I also have a Apple Cinema Display (DVI). I recently purchased a Avocent 4 Port DVI/USB KVM switch. I just got it today. It looks like a nice switch. However, it did not come with any cables. So, I need to buy some USB cables and some DVI cables. Should I buy DVI-A, DVI-D, or "dual" DVI cables?
    Thanks in advance for help.

Unless you have a 30" ACD, which requires dual-link DVI, you want to buy DVI-D cables.
