DVI out issues

I have a Macbook Pro 10.6.4 2008 Model with details are below on graphics card and display options. I am trying two hookups to televisions which may or may not be possible. Can anyone tell me if my DVI output on the macbook pro is capable of delivering an analog signal to my old sony tube tv with component inputs? Second part of my question is do I have the right dvi cable. I purchased a cable with 24 + 5 pin. This cable does not produce a picture on my analog or digital television. Just snow on the analog and no input on the digital. The cable that came with my macbook pro seems to be an 18 + 5 pin plug....with a few pins missing in the middle. Should I buy another cable with the 18 + 5 pin DVI to component or buy a cable to connect the supplied DVI to VGA - VGA to component. Please help I'm confused on many fronts.
Thanks
Frank

I have been experiencing the same flickering problem when using the mini Displayport output on the GT120 to drive secondary monitors at my office. Using a Monoprice cable instead of Apple's adapter provides a more stable signal, but we still get intermittent flickering where the screen goes black for a second, then a full image returns. I think this issue is due to massive loss of signal strength via the mini Displayport output on the GT120 card. Hot Plug Detect is also weak which points to low signal strength. This might be fixable by increasing the output voltage of the card slightly to boost the signal strength. Apple really should just issue a firmware/BIOS fix for this problem since the implementation of mini Displayport on these cards seems poorly engineered. Does anyone know how to do this?

  • MacBook Pro DVI-Out and FrontRow Color Anomalies

    ok, so i've got one of the first generation MacBook Pros 2.0GHz processor, 2GB RAM, etc. i want to use the DVI-out to connect to my Sharp Notevision projector, which has a DVI-input. i have a standard DVI cable and when i connect, everything is fine. i can display at the projector's 1280x1024 native resolution and finder and other application windows look just fine, color-wise.
    however, when i jump into FrontRow (or play any Quicktime movie or use iTunes to play movies), the color shifts and looks horrible. the glow around the icons in FrontRow are oddly red, and other nuetral colors look greenish or otherwise. its almost like you've got a component cable connected with two of the channels swapped.
    the same projector works fine and displays accurate color with my AppleTV and if i connect the laptop to one of my Cinema Displays, the colors for movies are all accurate. i thought maybe the DVI cable was bad, and bought a replacement and the new cable produces the same off-color results.
    any help or guidance here would be greatly appreciated!
    thanks,

    Another update, I did some research and it seems that ATI are cagily admitting to the fact that there might be a problem with the X-series;

    http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questio nID=25682
    You'll notice that ATI tell you to contact the manufacturer of your computer if the graphics are integrated into the motherboard. Like with Apple. Much joy to be had there.
    I phoned their technical support and got talking with a specialist who was mystified and suggested 'turning off the airport'.
    Also, it seems that Apple rather significantly "underclocked" the GPUs in their macbook pros;
    http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/04/19/applemacbook_pro_gpuspeed/

    Could be running the GPUs are running on a lower voltage and maybe they're not working right, or the signal isn't stable enough to pick up an EDID? It seems to be quite a mystery. Perhaps the osx86 community will have some tricks up their sleaves for twisting the x1600's arm. Still doesn't explain why the monitor worked that one time.
    This probably isn't an issue for anyone who doesn't want to plug their laptop into an external display, but I suspect it's a widespread problem just waiting to rear its ugly head, especially as HDTVs become more ubiquitous.
    Anyone else struggling with external display devices, or with solutions, I'd appreciate your input.

  • MBP freeze DVI out to a monitor

    When I first got my 13inch 2010 MacBook Pro about two months ago, I connected it with an external monitor via MiniDisplayport to DVI cable. And since then I had experienced random freeze, the screen would suddenly turn to light green or some other color, keyboard and everything else stopped working, and I had no choice but to reboot. However in the last 10 days I removed the connection to the external monitor and so far I have not experienced any problem. I think I have isolated the freeze issue. Does anyone know what's going on here?? Is it possible for me to reestablish the connection without experiencing any crash in the future? thx

    I have the same problem. When no external monitor/TV is used, no issues ever. When using HDMI-DVI and using HDMI as sound output, freezes every 15-45 mins. When using just video, no audio, freezes every 30-90 mins.
    When I called apple support, they said no known issues. I ran the low level Apple hardware diagnostics (ASD 3S138) OS and EFI, and my mac passed every single test. (DVI port is not listed on the diagnostic)
    Everything is up to date, and my MBP is was purchased in August (3 months old).
    My buddy has a MBP 13" from a year ago, before they added the capability to output sound through DVI-HDMI, and he has never had an issue.
    This seems to be a hardware issue, and only seems to be happening on the 13" MBP with the new DVI out that allows sound that was released mid 2010.

  • Timed out issue in jsp page!

    Dears,
    It is really amazing for me to see this issue in my application which I deployed in Oracle Application Server 10g r2.
    I am using JDeveloper 10g to create jsp pages.
    On one jsp page i am displaying 15 html tables for a report.
    All tables have 1 query to get records from oracle 10g database.
    Am opening one connection and than one by one running queries just before each table and rendering data through ResultSet
    (which is scrollable).
    If I test this page from JDeveloper, it is displaying fine.
    But when I deploy this page in Oracle Application Server 10g,
    and create a portlet and show this jsp page in portlet and open this page,
    this page most of the time giving 'TIMED OUT', and a few times displaying report properly.
    I tried PreparedStatement to run multiple queries for Oracle DB, but couldn't make it successfully.
    BTW,
    I checked my OAS log, it shows following error:

    if this occurs only in combination with portlets then I would try the Oracle Portal forum for help or use customer support to help you analyzing the issue

  • How to deal with OpenCL grey out issue.

    First off, I'm not native english speaker.
    I have Nvidia GeForce 550 Ti video card, and its support OpenCL v1.1.
    I'm also face a "random" OpenCL grey out issue like other people here, but I found the "issue" and how to deal with.
    open a command windows (using WinKey + R, and type cmd <enter>)
    type "cd C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)" <enter>
    type "sniffer_gpu" <enter>  -->> to check your GPU has OpenCL in Photoshop?
    When GPU is in power-saving mode (core running in 51Mhz, using MSI Afterburner monitor), I running sniffer_gpu, got this report
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)>sniffer_gpu

    OpenGL ok
    Return code: 1
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)>
    No OpenCL support
    Then, I switch GPU back to normal status (core running at 900Mhz)
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)>sniffer_gpu

    Nowadays, most of new GPUs were support power-saving, but when sniffer_gpu running at GPU power-saving state, the OpenCL computing report maybe "time-out", cause the detector "guess" the GPU does not support OpenCL. This is why many people says "OpenCL" sometimes work, sometimes grey-out.
    I hope this bug can be fixed, or at least people can understand how to "enable OpenCL everytime when you launch photoshop".

  • When starting the Add-on: Connection timed out issue

    When starting the Add-on: Connection timed out issue
    Hi,
    We have a client in SAP 2005 PL 44.
    I built the add-on for them using simple installer wizard ( I tried advanced set-up also).
    When starting the add-on, I get the message 'Connection Timed Out'.
    Add-on status is failed.
    But the add-on is actually connected. i.e, The functionality associated with the add-on is working fine.
    I had SAP 2007 before and un/reinstalled SAP 2005 in order to connect with this client.
    I had built the same add-on in a similar way for the same client for lot many times in the past, but I never got this issue.
    I tried the following:
    1) Delete SM_OBS_DLL and un/reinstall DI API
    2) un/reinstall B1DE
    Always I'm getting this error.
    Please let me know your inputs.

  • T400 DVI Out through Mini Dock

    The T400 has no DVI output plug. However with my old A31p which likewise has no DVI-out, I can get DVI from it through its docking station. Is it the same for the T400? When docked to the ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock, will I be able to get DVI from it?

    Unfortunately, according to the Specifications posted at
    http://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/merchandising/US/PDFs/t400_and_t500_datasheet.pdf
    the T500 has DisplayPort but the T400 does not. So no digital video output from the T400 unless through docking station.
    I would strongly prefer the brighter WXGA+ LED-backlit screen which is only available on the T400 (T500 only has WXGA), AND the DisplayPort that is only available on the T500.
    It seems you can't get both the higer resolution LED and the digital output on the same Txxx series notebook.

  • DVI out to component in (DVCPro HD)

    Repost... Sorry, accidently posted in FCE, would like to ask again here.
    Other than buying the Matrox MXO, I'm stumped.
    I need to capture a clients PowerPoint into a FCP HD timeline so that they can see all their transitions, then I'll use Compressor to create an HD file which will play on their digital signage box. (plasma HD screen)
    I already have a successful workflow with evey aspect EXCEPT getting PP in a HD sequence. PowerPoint is on a MacBook Pro (DVI out) to a quad G5 with a BlackMagic HD extreme card that accepts component in. I've tried a scan converter that has component out, and a simple DVI to component cable. BlackMagic card sees nothing in HD.
    Matrox MXO says it'll do DVI to component (Y, Pb, Pr) all day long for a grand.
    I would really like to explore my options at NAB this year, but the client won't wait that long.
    And yes, the signage box will play PowerPoint presentations (.ppt files) that look great right now. However, when playing a PP presentation you can not overlay an instant messanging system crawl which is a must for them. This is why the PP must play as an MPEG2 HD file.
    Any help is most welcome!
    --Bob

    Understanding the client wants their own transitions, so there would be a bunch more work. But if you do go this way I would suggest putting a "proxy" clip of the entire show (point a camera at the original PowerPoint playback) on V1, then cover that with your clips and transitions on V2. Should make the timing a lot easier.
    But it does seem ridiculous that you should have to do that at all. Maybe a post house can help with a quick translation.

  • MSAI FX 5600 VTDR DVI out & LCD monitor problem

    I'm having problems with the card if I connect my TFT monitor using the DVI out on the graphic card. The problem usually occurs when resuming from standby mode or durring the initial startup of the system.All over the screen i see moving golden dots . This stops when I change resolution. If i connect the monitor using the VGA out everything is fine. I've tried the monitor on different card (gigabyte Ati Radeon 8500 Dvi out) and everything was OK. I've checked the cables and tried different driver.
    Is there any sollution for my problem, and second can this do a damage to my monitor.

  • Macbook DVI out?

    ok so I just bought a new dell 20" 1650x1080 display as a secondary display for my macbook, replacing my old 17" crt. I was using the mini dvi out to VGA plug which I am also using right now on the new dell display. but my dell monitor also has DVI in, so is there a mini dvi to DVI cable I can get? and is it a big difference? Thanks!

    I too use a Dell 20" LCD as a monitor for my MB. I have used both the DVI and VGA adapters and the picture is a bit clearer with DVI, but probably not enough to notice if I wasn't looking for it.

       select * from bsis

                dmbtr ne 0.
        loop at it_bsis.
          select single * from bseg
             where bukrs = it_bsis-bukrs and
                   belnr = it_bsis-belnr and
                   gjahr = it_bsis-gjahr and
                   buzei = it_bsis-buzei and
                   ebeln in so_ebeln and
                   matnr in so_matnr and
                   hkont in so_hkont.
          if sy-subrc = 0.

              BSIS_TAB-BLART = it_bsis-BLART.
              IF it_BSIS-SHKZG = 'H'.
                BSIS_TAB-DMBTR = 0 - BSEG-DMBTR.
                BSIS_TAB-DMBE2 = 0 - BSEG-DMBE2.
                BSIS_TAB-DMBE3 = 0 - BSEG-DMBE3.

              ENDIF.
              APPEND BSIS_TAB.
          endif.
        endloop.

    Avoid selecting BSEG within the it_bsis loop. BSIS will have huge data and when you do data selection for BSEG inside this loop things will only worsen.
    My points:
    BSIS:
    1. Avoid 'INTO CORESSPONDING FIELDS OF" during the bsis table fetch. Instead define your target structure with the required fields and select only those fields from the BSIS table.
    2. Make sure that only "Key fields" are used in your filter (where condition) for this BSIS table fetch.
    3. I presume your company code in selection (so_bukrs) is a mandatory field. If not suggest for mandatory option.
    BSEG:
    To avoid selection of BSEG inside the bsis loop do the following.
    1. Sort it_bsis by  bukrs belnr gjahr buzei.
    2. Move the contents of it_bsis into a temporary table of same structure, say it_bsis_tmp.
    3. delete adjacent duplicates from it_bsis_tmp comparing bukrs belnr gjahr buzei.
    4. Now use the below selection:
       select <fields required from bseg>
         from bseg
         into table it_bseg
         for all entries in it_bsis_tmp
    where bukrs = it_bsis_tmp-bukrs and
    belnr = it_bsis_tmp-belnr and
    gjahr = it_bsis_tmp-gjahr and
    buzei = it_bsis_tmp-buzei and
    ebeln in so_ebeln and
    matnr in so_matnr and
    hkont in so_hkont.
    if sy-subrc eq 0.
      sort it_bseg by bukrs belnr gjahr buzei.
    endif.
    5. Modify your loop construct as below:
    loop at it_bsis.
      read table it_bseg into wa_bseg with key bukrs = it_bsis-bukrs
                                                                  belnr = it_bsis-belnr
                                                                  gjahr = it_bsis-gjahr
                                                                  buzei = it_bsis-buzei
                                                                  binary search transporting <required fields>.
    if sy-subrc eq 0.
       move the required fields from wa_bseg to your BSIS_TAB.
      BSIS_TAB-WAERS = it_bsis-WAERS.
    BSIS_TAB-BUDAT = it_bsis-BUDAT.
    BSIS_TAB-BLART = it_bsis-BLART.
    IF it_BSIS-SHKZG = 'H'.
    BSIS_TAB-DMBTR = wa_BSEG-DMBTR * -1.
    BSIS_TAB-DMBE2 = wa_BSEG-DMBE2 * -1.
    BSIS_TAB-DMBE3 = wa_BSEG-DMBE3 * -1.
    BSIS_TAB-WRBTR = wa_BSEG-WRBTR * -1.
    ENDIF.
    APPEND BSIS_TAB.
    endif.
    endloop.
