DVI Switch Apple 20" Cinema PC and Mac

Hi i have recently purchased a DVI switch so that i am able to swap the output to my 20" Apple Cinema Monitor between my Windows PC and my PowerMac G4. the switch its self works perfect i am using apples ADC to DVI convertor which is plugged into the the switches output and the DVI outputs from the PC and Mac are going into the switches inputs, The problem i have is that when i switch to the PC and then back to the Mac my Mac seems to sleep the DVI output on the graphics card and i am unable to wake it up, so i have been resorting to a reboot before the monitor displays an output for the Mac, I have noticed that whilst the Mac is booting i can switch back and forth and it functions as intended which leads me to believe that this sleeping the output is a function of the OS, does anyone know how i can solve this problem. many Thanks

You may need a DVI Detective between the Mac and the DVI switch.

  • How to connect a 23" Cinema display and mac mini to an AV Receiver?

I am trying to get my 23" Cinema display and Mac Mini to a Yamaha RX-2700 AV Receiver. I am on first name terms with the guy in Maplins because I tried to get an Xbox 360 working with this display before and gave up in the end.  The AV receiver has upscaling capability so I thought I'd try again.  I tried connecting a HDMI - DVI adapter to the HDMI Out on the receiver and a HMDI to DVI cable from the Mac Mini to the HDMI in with a optical cable for the sound.  The sound works fine but I get no display - the LED on the monitor flashes three times with a blank screen so it can't read the signal.  Another option suggested was to use a VGA Converter connected to a VGA - HDMI cable but I would like to find out if that would work before going down that route?
I am looking for some advice about whether this type of configuation is possible with the 23" ACD and if so what do I need to buy to make it work?  I love the quality of my ACD to avoid having to replace it with a TV to get my multi media life in order.
    Many thanks

  • How to install IPSec Client Certificate for Apple products (iPad,iPhoe and Mac)

We need  Ipsec vpn client authentication with certificate (instead of pre-shared key). We tested the same with Windows client and its works fine. However when we used the same certificates with Apple products (iPad, iPhoe and Mac) it doesnt work.
We have two types of certificates installed on the client from the CA server.
One is the root certificate with the extenstion .cer
and the other one is client certificate with the extension of .pfx (personal informaiton exchange)
We can not find a proper document to install certificates and client configuration for iPad,iPhoe and Mac. We need to know what type of certificates needed, what are the certificate formats and how to install etc.
Appreciate if someone has implemented this and share any documents.

  • APPLE 30" Cinema Display and ATI Graphics Card compatability

    hi all
I have a 2year old APPLE Dual proc G5 PowerMac 2.0mhz (1.5GB Ram) with an ATI graphics Card which is a ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb ram.
This currently works well dipslaying via a Apple cinema 23" screen. However i would like to upgrade the screen with an Apple 30" display now. Will the current ATI Graphics card support a 30"display or will i need to replace the card on buying a new monitor..
i was looking at potentially a new ATI X1900Xt card.
any experiences and help please ...
    Thanks Paul

Your existing card will not run the 30" at full resolution. The ATI X1900 XT won't fit because it is not AGP.
The fastest AGP card for your G5 is the ATI Radeon X800 Mac edition
    <http://eshop.macsales.com/item/ATI%20Technologies/100435317/>
It has one DVI dual-link port that will run the 30" display, and one ADC port.

  • Apple 23 cinema display and G5 computer

    Hi,
I've just purchased a G5 computer and own an old 23' Apple cinema display. Unfortunately, my ACD DVI cable isn't compatible with the G5 DVI port. Since I am living abroad and will sooner come to the States. Does it exist a specific cable at apple store (or any retail store) to convert the ACD cable to make it work with my G5.
    Thanx for helping out!

If it is the old 23" display (plastic case) with ADC cable, no power supply, and the computer only has DVI ports, you need a DVI to ADC adapter

  • Task switching (APPLE+TAB) between apps and spotlight window not possible

Hi, I opened a spotlight window to search for some items by pressing ALTCMDSpace and ran my search query. Then I task switched to my other app to look at some info, but when I tried to task switch back to the open Spotlight window I was unable to do so. The only way to get back to it was either to Exposé or to press ALTCMDSpace again. Not a natural flow to the way I and most other people probably work. Is this normal/a feature? I am sure it wouldn't be hard for Apple to add the hook to show the Spotlight window in the Task List (CMD+TAB)

    Hi, John.
Unfortunately, that's the way it works: You cannot Command-Tab to the Spotlight window. I see this as a design glitch, aka a "feature." As you note, it can be found using the Exposé "All Windows" (F9) function.
To let Apple know how you feel about this, I suggest you submit a Mac OS X Feedback. All Feedbacks are read and used to prioritize development investments.
    Good luck!

  • Apple 23" Cinema display and internal macbook speakers

With a 23" cinema display hooked up to my macbook and the macbook's lid closed can i use the internal speakers?
ps. i have a mighty mouse and wireless keyboard so i can close the lid.

Welcome to Apple Discussions, iLove 
Yes, the internal speakers will work with the lid down. They won't sound very good.
Once the external screen is active as the sole screen, you can raise the lid on the MacBook and the internal screen will stay off.

  • HT5429 How do I view Apple Maps on Windows and Mac?

Apple must be smoking something good if they think Apple Maps can be improved without allow users of Mac OS, Linux and WIndows computers see and edit the maps somehow.
Which raises the question: how do I edit my Apple maps listing?
On Google Maps it is free and easy to claim and edit Google maps listings.

You don't at this point. It's not available on the Mac or the PC.

  • APPLE 23'' CINEMA DISPLAY AND VIDEO CARD

My new Mac Pro (2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xenon-8GB RAM) has a NVIDIA GeForce GT 120. I am thinking to upgrade it to either the ATI Radeon HD 4870, or the just coming out NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 (manufactured by EVGA).
Any information for the two products, comparison charts, charachteristics etc will be very helpful and wellcomed.

  • Connection mac mini and apple led cinema

I have a mac mini /2007, and the video out port is a dvi connector, i bought a apple led cinema 24, and the port is minidisplay, please how can i resolve this connection? thanks

Unfortunately there are no apple adapters to convert the existing DVI port on the computer to work with the MDP port on their new monitors. I have found some options, they are limited and will cost a few dollars. Still cheaper than buying a new mac.

  • Mini DisplayPort adapter for 23" Apple HD Cinema Display?

    hello all,
I'm sure this has been asked and answered here, but I can't find it! (grrr...)
I've got an 23" Apple HD Cinema display and a new iMac. The iMac has a "mini DisplayPort". Now, the Cinema Display has a 3 x 10-pin (not 3 x 8) DVI connector. The WIKI thing about DVI calls it a "DVI M1-DA (Dual link + USB)".
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigitalVisualInterface
For the life of me, I can't find an Apple (or other) adapter with the 10-pin connector to attach to the iMac?
    many thanks,
    b myers

If it's the old, plastic cased, 23" display, it may use ADC (Apple Display Connector).
    <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/AppleDisplayConnector.jpg>
In that case, you will need a DVI to ADC adapter

  • Apple 23" Cinema Display - lines around windows

I have the Apple 23" cinema display and now I'm seeing "ghost lines" around open windows on the desktop, and also along the sides of application windows, like Safari. What is causing this?

having the same problem, you can see right through to other open windows ie. photoshop/acrobat documents. not very good when retouching images etc.

  • Question about the new 27" LED Cinema Display and text size

Hi, I own the 24" Apple LED Cinema Display and text on the monitor is just large enough for me. Won't text on the new 27" Display be much smaller with its higher resolution?

    MANY thanks for the tip.
Now then - all indications are that my Mini will NOT pass audio via the MDP Cable given the age as well as the lack of an HDMI port (I know there isn't one this rig).  Unless I am missing something I don't believe there is any adapter out there that will allow the audio to now pass through the MDP Cable if the rig itself was never configured to do so.
Following links in your posting, someone recommended this:
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10428&cs_id=1042802 &p_id=6331&seq=1&format=2#description
However it seems to be set up to deliver A/V to an HDMI display, and unless I am mistaken, the 27" LED ACD does not have an HDMI in.  Although my MacMini does have a S/PDIF Optical Digital Audio Output I don't believe the 27" LED ACD has any kind of separate audio input (either TOS Link or even 1/8 smini stereo).
So I reckon I am SOL with regard to getting the audio onto the new monitor from the Mini and I would need to keep my present speakers set up using the 18/" mini stereo out - but the video should still work......yes?

  • 5770 with 27" Apple LED and two 20" Apple Cinema Displays w/Mac Pro

As stated, I just bought a brand new Mac Pro 8-core (2010 ID 5,1) with a 5770 card and I'm trying to hook up a new 27" Apple LED and two 20" cinema displays. One of the 20" monitors is using the MDP adapter into the 5770 and the 27" is directly connected to the other MDP port. When I try to hook up the other 20" to the DVI port on the 5770 I get nothing. The screen is black and the it is not recognized as being connected. I'm using the standard DVI connector that came with the 20" direct into the 5770. To make sure it isn't a monitor problem, I switched out the 20" displays and both work using the MDP adapter but neither work plugging directly into the DVI port on the 5770. I believe the 20" monitors use DVI-D. (Is that correct?) So what's the scoop on getting blank screens when plugging into the DVI port on the 5770? Thanks for any help.

"• the 27" is directly connected to the other MDP port.
    • One of the 20" monitors is using the MDP adapter into the 5770.
    • When I try to hook up the other 20" to the DVI port on the 5770 I get nothing.
Note: If you are using an Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, only two displays are supported across the three ports.
If you are connecting three displays, any DVI displays must be connected to either the Dual-Link DVI port or must use an Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link Adapter.
You MUST use All "Active" or "Powered" Mini DisplayPort connector such as the Apple Dual Link, or you can only use two displays
