DVI to a TV - nothing is shown on my TV

Hello
A couple of months ago, I used to watch DVD's from my powerbook g4 to my TV. I have a DVI (or mini-dvi) adapter and everything was working fine. I had to reformat my machine and create new partitions since I wanted to install Ubuntu on another partition. Since then, I cannot see my desktop in my TV when I plug my DVI wire from my TV to my laptop. I was able to make it work only once, and it was because I clicked on "Detect monitors" in the displays settings. From then, it never worked again and I am wondering if I should reinstall 10.4.x, or if there is anything that could help me there (settings or a software) before I do this drastic move.
Thanks a lot
Mathieu

I have the very same issue as this worked once or twice and the started acting just like you describe, only get the audio to the apple tv and no video as the video stays on the iPod Touch and or IPad2.
It seems the only way I can get it to work again is totally power off Apple TV and go through a nearly an hour reset process to set it up all over again.  sent the program from the two devices via the icon on the bottom of the app and it works the first time and then never again until I reset it through the one hour process.
What is anything can I do what if anything is Apple support doing about this as I can't even get to them without scheduling an appointment several days out to even talk with them

  • My speedgrade workspace is blank and nothing is shown expect the buttons.

    I got the following computer:

    When I open Speedgrade I see a blank workspace and nothing is shown expect the buttons. What can I do to fix this problem?
    *Sorry for my bad english*

    SpeedGrade has a very "minimalist" UI, very different from the other Adobe apps. It started and ran for several years as Iridas, which is why "native" Sg files are "ircp" ... for "irridas color projects" I think it was. I'd need to know exactly which Sg you're working with, but ...
    This is what mine looks like when I open a "new" project ... it's the CC2014.1 "Caravan" version ...
    Give a bit more info ... which version, opened by either direct on the Sg icon or Direct Link from PrPro, and ... please post a screen-grab. Windows in the "Accesory" folder ("Start" menu, "All Programs") has a little tool called the "Snipping Tool" which is very handy ... drag diagonally over the area you want to capture, save-as to your desktop then use the camera icon on here to post it.

  • Nothing shown in "Hardware" of the module browser

    Hi all,
    I have installed the Sun MC server (base only) and agent on an E420R server. However, nothing is shown in "Hardware" of the module browser in Sun MC console. I have already installed these add-on products:
    ELP Config-Reader Monitoring
    Workgroup Server
    which are supposingly the config reader for E420R, right?
    Have I missed anything?
    Regards,
    Kelvin

    I assume you are using the current 3.5.1a distribution.
    If your OPB banner and `uname -i` do not match, Sun MC will not detect the correct hardware. Check your 'Entity Family' in the 'Info' tab of the host details view to determine what SunMC is detecting.
    If this entity family and your uname -i differ, you will need to modify the banner to match your hardware and re-run es-inst.
    "/usr/platfrom/`uname -i`/sbin/prtdiag | head -1"
    The banner name for your system shoud be "Sun Enterprise 420R".
    The "eeprom" command in the same sbin location can be used to change the banner.
    I recently fixed a bunch of Blade 2000's that had incorrect banners this way.
    This information, and details on the 420R specifically, are available in the FAQ:

  • Macbook Pro DVI and Video Out woes..

    Hey, this seems to be a known issue although specifics are difficult to nail down. I've had my macbook pro since shortly after they were launched and been using the DVI - S-video adapter since day one, and it's been outputting to all TVs with no problem.
    I recently got a nice overtime payment from work and decided to treat myself to an external 24" display, was very pleased with it when it arrived. Plugged it in downstairs, and ran it for a few hours, putting it through its paces - worked great.
    Decided to move the whole arrangement upstairs and 'no input signal' said the monitor, the MBP just didn't detect anything in the displays. The built-in display did it's blue screen when the cable was plugged in, so it's definitely detecting something.. The monitor is connected via a DVI-D single-link cable. I've confirmed that both cable and monitor work using a different computer.
    So after this happened, I decided to try plugging it into a TV again to see if the S-video out worked and although Displays picks up the TV and everything is as usual, nothing is shown on the screen.
    Any suggestions would be very welcome before I get my hammer and remodel my computer!
    Anyone else suffering from something similar to this?
    The monitor is a 24" Yuraku YV24WBH1.
    Cheers.
    PS I've tried booting from the install CD, two versions of XP bootcamp (one with standard drivers, one with Catalyst, and the computer's old HD with 10.4 installed on it - no joy with any)

    Another update, I did some research and it seems that ATI are cagily admitting to the fact that there might be a problem with the X-series;
    http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questio nID=26586
    http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questio nID=21266
    http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questio nID=25682
    You'll notice that ATI tell you to contact the manufacturer of your computer if the graphics are integrated into the motherboard. Like with Apple. Much joy to be had there.
    I phoned their technical support and got talking with a specialist who was mystified and suggested 'turning off the airport'.
    Also, it seems that Apple rather significantly "underclocked" the GPUs in their macbook pros;
    http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/04/19/applemacbook_pro_gpuspeed/
    http://www.maconintel.com/news.php?article=178
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=306024
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=194647
    Could be running the GPUs are running on a lower voltage and maybe they're not working right, or the signal isn't stable enough to pick up an EDID? It seems to be quite a mystery. Perhaps the osx86 community will have some tricks up their sleaves for twisting the x1600's arm. Still doesn't explain why the monitor worked that one time.
    This probably isn't an issue for anyone who doesn't want to plug their laptop into an external display, but I suspect it's a widespread problem just waiting to rear its ugly head, especially as HDTVs become more ubiquitous.
    Anyone else struggling with external display devices, or with solutions, I'd appreciate your input.

  • DVI connections not working

    I guys,
    I'm having a "small" issue with my old iMac and I was wondering if any of you could help me.
    When I connect my late 2007 iMac 20" to my DVI monitor I get nothing, but when I connect to the same monitor throw VGA I get dual display, I've tried different cables an two different mini-dvi to dvi adaptors, one of them brand new. It was working fine until 2 days ago but now nothing.
    I'm a bit frustrated because I've tried so many different things and I still get nothing
    Cheers

    Are the resolutions beyond this?
    2nd Display Support:
    Dual/Mirroring
    2nd Max. Resolution:
    1920x1200*
    Details:
    Apple reports that this model supports "digital resolutions up to 1920x1200" and "analog resolutions up to 2048x1536".
    I'm starting to suspect the Monitor, or some input setting on it, VGA almost alway can do higher & a wider range of resolutions than DVI single-link.

  • IOS5.1 Exchange sync - birthdays not shown in Day view

    iPhone 4s, IOS 5.1
    Sync'd with Exchange using Outlook 2010 - Sorry, I don't know what the server version of Exchange is.
    Outlook shows birthdays in my calendar, as having start and end as 12am, on the same day, correct recurrence patterns, etc.
    If I look in iPhone Calendar, 'Day View', nothing is shown.
    If I look in iPhone Calendar, 'List View', I can see them.
    I generally live in 'Day View', I expect the birthdays to show up.
    What can I do, if anything, to make the birthdays show up in 'Day view'?
    Assistance greatly appreciated.

    Calendar -> Day View - Move to a day that has birthdays (2 days ago or tomorrow), scroll down to the bottom, nothing. Attempt scrolling past top and bottom to no effect.
    Calendar -> List View - Birthdays visible
    Calendar -> Month View - Birthdays visible underneath the calendar

  • PAT file not shown in Support package manager

    Hi All,
    We had to create a custom BAPI to achieve an functionality in our product.
    We are doing this for the first time.
    As a standard procedure we followed the AAK (Assembly Add On ) toolkit to create the deploy-able.
    Finally in the consolidation system we could see the following PAT file created in the out directory.
    QA70020777848_0000002.PAT
    I copied the file to the in directory of the production SAP server where this needs to be deployed.
    I ran the transaction SPAM on the server.
    Load packages from Application server
    QA70020777848_0000002.PAT    SAPK-170COINCOMPANY1    @EB\QUpload Already Occurred@    0004    OCS file already exists in inbox. Upload not required.
    IT decompresses the file properly.
    Now the problem occurs ahead.
    IF i click on the New Support package nothing is shown visible .
    Am i missing any steps here.
    Regards
    Manoj

    Got the solution in fact it's not a solution it's just an awareness on how the disks are available in fail-over cluster manager.
    1) All the available disks are shown in fail-over cluster manager "storage".
    2) While installation it asks us to add available disks for SQL Server then add accordingly. (Ex: E:drive for data files and L:drive for Log files)
    3) Once the installation is done you see those disks in MSSQL (SQL Server) group.
    Means when you click on Active node it should show you MSSQL (SQL Server) group in which you can find network name, network ip, E: & L: Drives, SQL Server and Agent services.
    Note: MSDTC and Quorum are also clustered disks which can reside (Preferably Active Node) in any of the nodes but automatically fail-overs to active node in case of any passive node failures.

  • HDMI to DVI No Signal Detected

    I have a late 2006 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.6. I recently purchased an LG LED-LCD television as well as a HDMI to DVI adaptor cable, both from Amazon (the cable is an Amazon Basics cable). When plugged in to both the laptop and the television, there is no signal detected by the television and no display detected by the laptop. I've tried each of the three HDMI ports on the television, but to no avail. I returned the cable and exchanged it for an identical one, but the problem persists.
    In searching through the forums, I've seen that quite a few people have had issues with this same setup, and I'm wondering if somehow I need more than just the cable to connect to my television (which doesn't make sense, but could still be the case). I've run a diagnostic on my laptop during startup, and found no issues with the hardware, so I'm 99% positive that I don't have a bum DVI port. At this point I'm just not sure what to do to get this to work, so any assistance would be wonderful.

    Sorry for any confusion, my last post was sent before reading your second post.
    The VGA test proves nothing about the DVI output. The DVI ports on these Macbook Pros is a combo DVI and analog VGA port (DVI-A). The DVI-VGA adapter does nothing more than connect the VGA to VGA, and does not convert the DVI to VGA. You have to use an actual DVI device to test the DVI. The 4 pins and large blade on the end of the DVI connector are the VGA pins - they can be omitted on a DVI-HDMI adapter with no harm.
    I really don't know if there could be a problem with the software on the Mac and/or TV, and the cable just fine.
    Perhaps try to seek out someone who has a working DVI-HDMI cable to try? Or try a store that will demonstrate that it works and has a money back guarantee?

  • DB Connection Tables & Views not shown in 9.0.3 for 3rd Pty JDBC

    I am running JDeveloper 9.0.3 under Windows 2000.
    I have configured the 3rd party JDBC libraries under jdev.conf.
    Under connections, database connection, I am able to connect to the database and it does show me the three schema owner names in that database. I am signed on as one of those schema names.
    However, when I attempt to drill-down to the tables and views under those schemas, nothing is shown.
    Under 9.0.2, I was only able to see the schema of the userid I used to sign-on to the database, but I was able to drill-down to the tables and views and use them in generating UML diagrams and such.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Robert,
    We changed the handling of schemas and catalogs between 9.0.2 and 9.0.3. The purpose of the change was to correct some problems with specific JDBC drivers where the old way was not working. While we tried to test with as many drivers as possible, it seems likely that we inadvertantly introduced an incompatability with your driver. If you can provide me with a few more details, I can try to isolate the problem and hopefully find a resolution.
    First of all, when you created the connection, did you use uppercase, or lowercase. And does the case you use match the case we display in the navigator?
    Second, if you run the code I've enclosed at the bottom of this message (replacing the values in <> with the appropriate values), do you get tables back? What is the value that is printed out for the catalog. If you are seeing a difference in case between the connection definition and the schema node in the navigator, can you try both cases?
    The enclosed code is basically the query we use to get the list of tables. However, we are doing some work internally with the catalog and schema, and see what the raw query returns should point me in the correct direction.

  • JPanel as TreeCellRenderer not shown

    Hello all,
    I'm experiencing a rather strange problem using a custom JPanel as a TreeCellRenderer for a JTree. Basically I needed to show a JLabel and an JTextArea inside a JScrollPane for each Node in my JTree. So I created a subclass of JPanel, implementing the TreeCellRenderer interface and registered it on the tree. The problem I experience is, that nothing is shown in my tree. Instead of the JPanel and its components I see a white space exactly the size of the JPanel, but no components in it. When I try to add my custom JPanel to a regular other panel, it shows up perfectly. My source code for the renderer looks like this (the text is statically provided at the moment, so each node should display the same amount of information):
    public class XMLTreeCellRenderer extends JPanel implements TreeCellRenderer
        private javax.swing.JLabel jLabel1;
        private javax.swing.JPanel jPanel1;
        private javax.swing.JPanel jPanel2;
        private javax.swing.JScrollPane jScrollPane1;
        private javax.swing.JTextArea jTextArea1;
        private void initComponents()
            jPanel1 = new javax.swing.JPanel();
            jLabel1 = new javax.swing.JLabel();
            jPanel2 = new javax.swing.JPanel();
            jScrollPane1 = new javax.swing.JScrollPane();
            jTextArea1 = new javax.swing.JTextArea();
            jLabel1.setOpaque(true);
            jLabel1.setHorizontalAlignment(SwingConstants.LEFT);
            jLabel1.setVerticalAlignment(SwingConstants.CENTER);

    }This is really driving me crazy. If I'm trying to return a simple JLabel, everything works ok, but whenever I want to show the JPanel, nothing happens.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    Sven

    Hello,
    no, I did not set a preferred size for the border; I did as shown in the code:
            m_border = new LineBorder(Color.RED, 1, true);
            if (selected)
                setBorder(m_border);
            else
                setBorder(null);
            }The only thing that I do is setting a minimum size.

  • Some of Photo (JPEG)-compressed images by Flash Pro are not shown in AIR app (3.7/3.8)

    Does anyone see this issue happening? In Flash Pro it's OK, but in AIR, it's broken.
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3558175
    Problem Description:
    Some JPEG-compressed images in swc produced by Flash Pro CS6 is not shown in AIR.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Create a fla with Flash Pro CS6
    2. Put a png image in it and open the property of the image to make sure its compression option is Photo (JPEG)
    3. Produce an swc out of the fla
    4. Create an AIR app that shows the contents in the swc
    Actual Result:
    All images are shown
    Expected Result:
    Some of the images are not shown (nothing is shown where they are supposed to be)
    Any Workarounds:
    Use Lossless (PNG/GIF) for all images

    i was able to get it to work from a suggestion in another thread: if you write a JSFL that goes through all your bitmaps and makes sure they do not uset he default compression of the document, but instead use custom compression (it can match the default however). this worked for me

  • Why are my projects from FCPX 10.0 not shown in 10.1?

    Hello,
    I recently updated my Final Cut Pro X to version 10.1 (I have a 27" iMac Late 2012) and now, all my projects I had before are still existing in the folder "Aktualisierte Projecte" (in German, I don't know what's its name is in English, maybe "updated projects"), but if I click on the button with the same name in Final Cut Pro, nothing is shown.
    Here's what I see in FCPX:
    But here is the data in the Finder:
    How can I make them visible for FCP again?
    Thank you!

    I can't see the folder structure in the second image. The folder structure to update the projects needs to be:
    Drive/Final Cut Projects/Project Folder Name
    If the projects are inside a folder in Final Cut Projects take them out of there.

  • Detect Display DVI issue

    I've read every thread on this board about DVI and i'm still at a loss over this query.
    The geniuses at my local apple store swear up and down that the macbook pro can output DVI-D dual link video. My Magnavox 42MF230A has the pin set for DVI-D dual link and has shown video sent using said cable in the past. When I hook the DVI-D dual link cable to the DVI output on my macbook pro (which appears to accept any pin set though I might be way off on that) I am unable to "detect display". The system preferences panel searches and then stops without finding the display. Am I doing something wrong or am I being told something wrong at the store?

    When you say the cable has shown video in the past, do you mean the combination of your MBP, the Magnavox and that cable worked at one time?
    Anyway, a couple of observations:
    Dual-link is irrelevant in this set-up. It's not needed. On the other hand, neither should it cause any problems.
    I would try and get my hands on another DVI cable to try. As above, it doesn't have to be dual-link. I would also try plugging another DVI device, besides the MBP, into the TV. And finally, I would try plugging the MBP into another DVI-enabled monitor of some kind. This is the only way I can think of to try and isolate where the problem might lay.
