DVI to Video Adapter and S-Video Cable = Flipping TV Screen

Hello!
I attached my DVI & S-Video Cable to my television. Everything was fine, except when choosing different display resolutions, the TV screen would start flipping.
THEN:
• I removed the DVI to Video Adapter from the computer while it was still plugged into the TV.
Now, no matter what I have tried, I get a TV screen that flips.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Jeff

S-Video is the better of the two interfaces. Neither is very good when compared with a computer screen, which will have much higher resolution. I doubt you will notice much difference between S-Video and RCA Video but if you have the choice you might as well go S-Video.

  • Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter and Mac mini (2009)

Can anyone tell me whether the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter listed here:
    http://store.apple.com/ca/product/M9319G/A
works with the latest Mac mini (early 2009)?
If it does not what other solutions are there to connect to composite, component or s-video?

    KC from Ann Arbor, MI had this to say as a review on the page to which you have linked;

I bought a Mac Mini (May 2009) and this Mini-DVI to Video adapter with plans to use it to send an S-video signal to an analog TV. Though the sales staff at the Apple store said it should work, it does not. The graphics card apparently should support it, and it may be addressed with a future driver update, but as of now this does not work. I have used a mini-DVI to VGA adapter and monitor to verify that the port is working, and also verified that the S-video cable and TV input work. There are third party VGA to S-video/RCA adapters available so I plan to use one of those for my purposes. This is probably a 5-star product when used with the right Mac; however, Apple should have made it clear that having a mini-DVI port on your Mac is necessary but not sufficient for this to work - hence the 3 stars.

  • DVI to Video Adapter: Using S-video vs. RCA output to TV

I just purchased a DVI to Video Adapter for my MacBook Pro 15". I'd like to display iPhoto slide shows on my TV. Will there be a difference in picture quality on the TV if I output from the Mac (thru the DVI to Video Adapter) using an RCA cable versus an S-video cable?

  • Attaching VGA video adapter and Firewire device

I'm using the VGA video adapter to attach my brand new Mac mini to a VGA screen. As the space between video port and Firewire port is too narrow with the VGA video adapter attached I can't connect any Firewire cable!
Anyone who knows how to connect VGA video adapter and Firewire device at the same time?

The DVI-VGA adapter I got with my last mini was barely wider than the video port on the back of the mini and since a firewire connector is also barely wider than the FW port itself, there was no problem connecting to both at the same time, with a small but distinct space between. Indeed, it's about the same space as between the adapter and a cable plugged into the nearest of the USB ports on the other side.
If you're having problems, you might find that connecting the firewire cable first might help, but otherwise either the adapter or the connector on your firewire cable is non-standard. If you still can't connect both, take the mini, along with your firewire cable and the DVI-VGA adapter to an Apple store and ask them to try.

  • Can I use Apple DVI to Video Adapter to import video to my macbook pro?

I was wondering if i could use the Apple DVI to Video Adapter to import videos from my camcorder that don't have usb or firewire but have a S-video. to my laptop? and import them to iMovie

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you mean without internet, then yes, providing it isn't a purchased video (The Apple TV may need to verify authorisation). If you mean without a network, then no.

If this is an iPad 1, it won't mirror, but it will still output video from the 30 Pin dock connector.
If your new TV has a conventional VGA in and stereo inputs you can try this connector.

I used to stream video from both Netflix and YouTube and from my Mac using iTunes sharing through my iPad then with this connector plug into my iPad and TV.
It won't be high resolution, but it will get you picture from iPad to TV.
    Good Luck.

Yeah, I'm having the same exact problem - It seems that the thunderbolt minidisplay port is only able to output the analog VGA signal, not the digital signal to support DVI and HDMI. This is a bug that came up after installing 10.7.1. I bought my macbook air with 10.7 on it, upgraded it to 10.7.1 as soon as I got it, so I have never been able to use hdmi or dvi with my macbook air. This is an extremely frustrating problem for me, I used HDMI on a daily basis with my PC. I have spent many hours at the genius bar running diagnostic tests so Apple can get as much information as possible to create a fix for this problem. I have been emailing tech support for 3 or so weeks now, they keep saying that they are working on a fix and it should be out soon, but 10.7.2 has come and gone and I still have no HDMI functionality with my MacBook Air!

  • Does a DVI to VGA adapter, and a DVI to DVI adapted do the same job?

A DVI to VGA adapter provides a conversion from DVI to VGA.
A DVI to DVI adapter, what is that? If the input is DVI and the output is DVI, what is the need for an adapter?

The first thing that needs to be done with a new iPad is to activate it by connecting it to a computer that is running iTunes. Getting started guide : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4053
The iPad manual also has a chapter on getting started - it can be downloaded from here : http://support.apple.com/manuals/ipad

  • Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter - do you need cables as well?????????????

Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter
i have this already, but do i need a certain cable to go into the TV. as it only has one port instead of the usual 3 av leads have???
    help please,confused...............

Look in your question and you'll find the answer...
Apple mini DVI to Video Adapter
...the usual 3 av (audio/video) leads...
DVI is video only so you only need one port... if you were hooking up audio and video you'd need three (1 for video - 2 for the left/right audio channels)

  • Mini-DVI to S-video adapter and no colour on TV screen

I just purchased a mini-DVI to S-video adapter for my MacBook. I want to connect it to my TV through my DVD/Video player.
I do get a nice picture on the TV and I can manage it in the screen settings panel, BUT the TV-screen doesn't show any colour, just black and white. Why?
I've tried several settings in the Preferences panel, but no luck. What to do?

The cable is brand new and I've checked it with a mulitmeter. It's OK.
I've also heard that this is a fairly common problem with S-video and I got a tip to try the composite video instead. It worked beautifully, so now I've got nice and crisp video in full colour on my TV!

  • No signal via DVI to VGA adapter on my video projector Sharp PGM 15X

    Hi there!
I have a big problem with my video projector. It´s connected via mini DVI to VGA adapter to
the projector. The problem is, Mac OSX decect the projector but there is no picture.
To resize the solution on both, or one of them doesn´t help.
When I use my Bootcamp and reboot with Windows XP there is a picture on the video projector.
    I cant believe this.
What should I do to fix this problem?

I got my Mac Mini yesterday and I am having the exact same problem as you are having.
I've tried on two different TV's but it is just not sending a signal. Is it faulty?
