DVR 109 wont read disks

Recently found a old G5 (DB 2.0 - June 2004) in a storage room. Which has the DVR-107PB superdrive installed; web searching shows that later versions shipped with the DVR-109. Coincidentally, I happen to have a DVR-109 in an old PC too ;o)
The firmware on the DVR109 was already upgrade to 1.58 (the latest from Pioneer (back in the day)).
I'd like to replace the installed 107 with the 109, however, when installed in the G5 the 109 wont read any burned or blank disks... just spits them back out.
Dual Layer would be nice, anyway to get the Apple A912 firmware?

I have had My 13" inch macbook pro for three years now, and am having the problem that it wont read any of my disks and just ejects them out again after making a lot of noise.

Trying to re-install 10.4.8 and wont read disk

I have the upgrade version of 10.4.8 I can load my full version of Panther but when I put my 10.4 disk in it doesn't even put it up on desk top.I have tried to boot it to the disk by restarting holding the c key,but it ejects the disk and starts up on 10.3 I know the disk works on this system because I have run it before.I was just wanting to clean up the hard drive buy doing a clean install,and this is what it did

"Put the DVD in the computer an double click on it. Now double click on the X icon. Now select install an follow the directions. When ask to reboot press yes"

My drive wont read disks after update to 10.6.3

Hey.
After I update my MacBook Pro Uni fall 08 to Mac OS 10.6.3 my drive no longer wants to read cds nor dvds, well it sounds like the drive tries to read the disk, but it just enters a infinite loop, anyone who knows what to do?

The first thing to try is to run a DVD Lens Cleaner disc through it to see if there's a speck of dust or dirt on the lens that's causing read/calibration problems - it's surprising how often this simple process can resolve things ...

What happens if you boot in Safe Mode? You can enter safe mode by holding down the shift key as soon as you hear the startup tone (not before), then release the shift key when you see the gray Apple icon on the display. Safe Mode is usueful when trying to rule out software issues because it performs a check of the startup volume, loads only the required kernel extensions leaving out those that you may have added, and does several other things that may help. If the issue goes away when you boot in Safe Mode then you may want to look at what additional software and utilities you've installed. It may also be a good idea to try reinstalling the OS by using Lion's recovery mode. You can enter the recovery mode by pressing the Command-R keys after powering up the iMac.

i have an old ibook that meets all the requirements for mac os x tiger and when i put it in the disk drive nothing happens, and yes i have tested the disk drive on other disc's

Look at this list of iBook specs & try to determine which iBook model you have. Some of the early iBooks only had a CD-ROM disc drive which will not read DVDs, like a Tiger installer.
You need to check if your Mac requires a firmware (Boot ROM version in System Profiler) update. Mac OS X: Available firmware updates

Trying to upgrade from leopard to snow leopard.. my dvd drive wont read my disks, yet it plays music cds and movie dvd's...help!!

I just purchased snow leopard and I evenually want to upgrade to lion.. I have to put snow leopard on first in order to do that. I currently have leopard. I try to run my disks and they wont read, my DVD drive makes a ugly noise when it tries to read them.. I tried my original installation disk and it does the same thing. But when I put in a regular movie DVD or a music CD it plays them fine without problems. I called customer support, and they suggested I take it to a apple tecnician... cant really afford that right now....has this issue happened to anyone???? any suggestions???? HELP!!!

I have a DVR-109 in my G4 MDD. before I upgraded to IT8, i was able to watch dvds, listen to and import cds like I am supposed to. Now with IT8, my superdrive wont recognize any disc. Once a disc is inserted, I can here the drive spinning as though its trying to read the disc. But nothing...the drive stops spinning after trying for a few minutes. I can eject the disc but nothing can be read...anyone else have this problem? any suggestions on how to fix this? ive cleaned the drive with a cleaning disc. anyone know what the latest firmware version for this drive is and where I can go get get it?

So from your description, the drive isn't mounting on the desktop?
Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities), and see if the drive appears in the left pane. If it does, but it's greyed out, highlight it and wait for a few seconds - eventually the Mount button should become live - click it and see if that clears the problem.
If not, it's possible that the drive has been damaged, usually by removing it without unmounting (ejecting) it first.
If you have access to a Windows machine, it may be possible to mount it on there, eject it properly and try again on the Mac. This has been known to work reasonably frequently.

IDVD 5 Pioneer DVR 109 and OS 10.4.3: Double layer support ?

My Pioneer DVR 109 (non Apple firmware) hasn´t been recognized by iDVD as a double layer drive. I heard rumors that from 10.4.3 on many non Apple drives will be supported by the system and indeed when clicking the profiler it now says APPLE SUPPORTED instead of VENDOR SUPPORTED. Unfortunately, when opening iDVD there is still only the 4 GByte option available. Any thoughts or ideas what this means?

If you happened to buy your 109 from MCE Technologies, or some other vendor that provided an installer to provide iDVD native double layer support, use the uninstaller supplied by the vendor (or call their tech support department).
If I understand it properly the file that was modified under these schemes was System/library/frameworks/DiskRecording.frameworks/Version/A/Frameworks /DiscRecordingEngine.framework/Version/A/Resources/
VendorSupport.drprofile. The original should have been renam ed,saved and replaced with one from the vendor.
Now you will need to restore the original.

PC Using Macdrive Wont Read Macbook Firewire

So I'm about ready to give up. I'm trying to use a Data Recovery Program from a PC I cant get on a Mac so I connected a firewire cable 800 9 Pin to 4 Pin from the PC to my Mac. When I reset the Mac holding down "T" in firewire mode it wont read on the PC. I got Macdrive on PC and it wont read. I tried just about everything I could find online for help checking disk management to disabling the 1394 in Network connections and then restarting and nothing.
Is there anything I can do? I checked the Firewire in MORE INFO in this ABOUT THE MAC and next to Firewire it says Warning: Unable to list firewire devices. Does that mean the firewire on my Macbook is turned off? Big thanks to any help.

Firmware for DVR-109?

Where do you find the firmware update for a Pioneer DVR-109. I found it on the pioneer website but it was a download for windows. I have a PowerMac G5 Dual 2.3 (early 2005 model) and It wont recognize Memorex 16x media in Toast 7. It will only allow me to burn @ 12x. The Apple rep at Comp USA said that all media is compatible with PowerMacs these days. I need help. Thanks.

Boot image does not exist and cannot read disk label errors.

Hi - I'm having a problem with installing Solaris 9 4/04 on a Netra T1. The Netra already has Solaris 7. I need to get this set up as a jumpstart server but it can't find the boot image. I'm using a brand new bonafide installation disk - not a copy. The system won't let me install/upgrade to Solaris 9 either. I get an error stating that disk label can't be read. I've tried swapping out the CDROM but I still get the same errors. Does anyone know what or why this may be happening? (Oh - and another strange thing - like I said the CDs are the original but there doesn't appear to be a cdrom/cdrom0/s0 directory. The directory I see is cdrom/cdrom0/sol_9_404_sparc/Solaris_9/Tools)

Hi check that you are booting of the right cd. Make sure it is soalris 9 software 1/2 if that fails then it may well be that your cd is buggered. most likely it is buggered it it cant find the boot image.

No music in iTunes library and it wont read the content of my iPod? Help please!

So I recently updated to iTunes 10.7 and when I did, all of the content in the iTunes library was gone! i have tried many different things to get it to work, like restoring to a previous iTunes library, but it appears that all the previous iTunes libraries were also deleted when I updated! If there is no other way to get the music back than finding the original files and putting them into iTunes, I guess that will be ok.
The second problem I am having is that when ever I try to sync my iPod it takes a very long time to load, and then it says that iTunes can't read the content of my iPod and that I should restore to the factory settings, but because there is no music or apps in my iTunes library I dont want to do that, because then I will have no way of getting all of my content back on. And I can't restore to a previous backup because it wont read it as my iPod, it just comes up as an unkown iPod. This is very frustrating and I have tried everything I can think of. Please help!

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try another cable and another USB port
- Reboot the computer.
- See if you can find the media by:
- See if a third-party progtam like one of those discussed here will allow you to get the music off the iPod
newer copy
- I think you may end up restoring the iPod.
