DVR's and Apple, not compatible

I have a Q-See 444 dvr and want to see my cameras on the mac. I downloaded a PSS program supposedly designed for macs but couldn't get it to work. One of Q-See's techs said they were waiting for a firmware update from Apple but I think she was just blowing me off.  Any suggestions?

Also I tried contacting Meye and have yet to get a response from them as to their DirecTV DVR compatibility.  Sent it 24 hours ago.
If your Mac is genuinely running 10.4, it isn't even compatible with Netflix streaming.    Later versions of 10.4 may work with Netflix if your Mac is Intel, but not G5.   And while Flash does exist for PowerPC, many places require more power for video.  You may find an old compatible standard.   http://www.elgato.com may have an old solution that would work for you.   I would contact them and ask.   I though don't presently have the money for some of their solutions, so I can't say which would be best for you.

    Fluid and WebRunner not compatible.

    Hi,
For portability issues always develop applications using sun implementation which can be configured for any vendor application servers.
Web services developed with jwsdp will work in webloigc 8.1 simply, take the examples from sun and simply deploy it in weblogic 8.1 it will work like gem with simple settings.
Just change the libraries with jwsdp ones.Place the
jwsdp lib.How to do this is ; place all these jars in the classpath before the exisiting classpath configuration.
    Classpath=jwsdplibs;......
This is enough for deploying the webservice server side.
For using the client you have to change the default soap libraries used by weblogic with sun jar files.
See example from bea for client implementation.override the system property.

  • Apple Stores and PowerBooks: not compatible

Recently, I've brought my G3 and G4 PowerBooks into the local Apple Stores to inquire about batteries and power supplies. However, as far the Apple Store's tech staffs are concerned, I might as well have brought in a couple of dinosaurs.
Neither store had replacement batteries for my G4, and neither one had a replacement power supply for my G3. Both tech staffs regarded my 15" G4 -- built in the apparently Dark Ages of the Year 2004 -- like it was an abacus. And they responded to my G3 Pismo -- built in the Paleolithic Era of 1999 -- with something like incredulity. Meanwhile, there was a line of MacBook Air owners impatiently waiting for me to hurry up and get my antiques out of the way.
Good grief! Any one else have similar experiences? Why don't Apple Stores have some older accessories on hand?

My surprise was that Apple apparently wants to forget about discontinued products as soon as they get discontinued.
I think you're overstating the case a bit. As I noted, Apple is still selling batteries and AC adapters for all of the Aluminum Powerbooks, the last of which was discontinued over two years ago. But Apple may not supply those batteries to every Apple store and Apple reseller, because they can more efficiently and inexpensively be directed to where they are wanted if they're kept in a central location. And as Niteshooter has correctly observed, a battery whose package has been unsealed and that has been used for testing purposes is no longer saleable as "new," so stores may well be reluctant to open and use them that way even if they are in stock. And stores may well be reluctant to keep them in stock, because they are no longer much in demand. The marketplace dictates in large part how convenient it will be for you to obtain parts with which to troubleshoot and diagnose a problem with an older Mac (or any other older device).
For some people in the situation you were in, a good option is to connect with a Mac user group, which may have members with like equipment who can swap parts temporarily to test them. But if there's no user group nearby, you have to do whatever you can, as you did. It's just a fact of life that solving problems with old stuff gets less convenient (and potentially more expensive) as the stuff ages.
I'm glad you resolved your battery problem successfully, and at no extra cost. You can be confident that a new battery would have cost more at the Apple Store, if it had had one to sell, than you paid on Ebay. Of course in that case you could have diagnosed the problem at the Apple Store and then bought a battery on Ebay — but I'm sure you can see why the store wouldn't have any interest in facilitating that outcome.

  • IPod and iTunes not compatible with WinXP

It appears that the iPod (I have a 4GB nano) and iTunes (I tried what was on the CD, as well as the latest download of 6) are not compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition (patched to the hilt, all the latest updates installed).
Installation works fine but iPod updater does not terminate cleanly and the iPod nano does not get rebooted properly, and although iTunes sees the iPod when it is plugged in, it does not recognize it from plug-in to plug-in (it's supposed to remember the name of the iPod device, and not re-prompt you to register, etc.).
Also, when attempting to copy MP3 files to the iPod, it appears as though they are copying but they do not wind up on the iPod no matter how hard you try.
Windows 2000 SP4, however, does not have any problems with the iTunes or iPod updater software and everything seems to work just fine.
It would behoove Apple to investigate the compatibility problem that their software has with Windows XP Media Center Edition, and fix it as soon as possible.

When i startup itunes it says:
"The software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes to install the Ipod's software"
I am on xp media center edition 2005
When I run the ipod updater it gives me "ipod service error"
    What can i do?
I bought the 4gb nano just yesterday.
both my ipod and itunes software are the Updated September 23, 2005 versions
ps on my old pc with winxp sp2 barebones edition, it works fine...
maybe its cos in mce 2k5 i got 2 users?

  • IPhone and iHome not compatible?

I have a 1st gen iPhone and an iHome that says on the box it is compatible with iPhones and both were purchased from the Apple store.
I've been using the iHome with my iPhone for a couple of months with no issues, but today all of a sudden, I tried docking my phone and a message popped up on the screen saying, "This device is not compatible with the iPhone" and that I had to put it into Airplane Mode and would not be able to make or receive calls.
I unplugged the iHome, turned my iPhone off and back on and continued to get the message repeatedly.
I don't understand how it could stop working so suddenly. Any suggestions?

  • Notebook returned from "HP Support" with dvr missing and will not power on

I had originally called in to support to ask them to help me stop the automatic update from Windoze 8 to Windoze 8.1 and to also shut off the reminder notices about that.  Tech support supposedly walked me through that, but after that, the next time I booted up the notebook, it automatically updated to 8.1 anyway, and there was no way to stop it.
Shortly thereafter, the notebook could only boot to BIOS, or error code 3F0, but Windoze 8.1 had predictably self destructed and could no longer be found.
Which is also btw how I discovered that they had apparently also not installed the UEFI that they said was "installed on every laptop" blah blah blah...
By this time, I was out of warranty, but I was offered a service "deal" that seemed to make sense for the cost v.time to do it myself factor, so I took them up on it.   But I was told that if the hard drive needed to be replaced, they would not return my old hd to me, so I first had a local tech attempt data recovery on that.  He didn't have time, and couldn't get it done, and asked me to try to get the hd back anyway.  He also checked out some basic connections inside and stuff, to see if there was something obvious and easy he could fix.
But he also told me that a) there was a brown concrete hardened paste like substance on the back of the keyboard that would not clean off, he thought it was either some sort of plastic glue or thermal paste that had baked.  and b)  99.9% of all manufacturer "technicians" will declare "liquid damage" (or some other fault of the user) and he thought I was wasting my time to send it in and they would not perform the repair.   We even bet lunch on that.  BUT... I was to pay for this repair, so I decided to send it in anyway.  And... he took pictures of certain things to help me if they did as he said they would.
Then, just as my local technician predicted,  the notebook came back today from HP's generous service offer, not only NOT fixed, but also no longer powers up at all and no longer even has a DVR, and covered in what looks like white plaster dust.  Oh and without the recovery media.  I haven't opened it up to see what else is missing, but I am furious that they sent it back in worse condition.   I don't know how HP will remedy this, but I can promise you that my personal remedy will not be to purchase a new HP notebook PC.  Ever.

lol.  I did get a PM from support person asking for my serial number and stuff, and after I responded, I got this reponse:

CS6 Photoshop and Illustrator are not compatible with my computer. Is there a downloadable version of CS6 Photoshop and Illustrator that is? I downloaded in both the CS6  Design and Web Premium and individually, neither worked. I have a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8

No. if that message comes up, you are running on an old first generation Core Duo processor on an iMac/MacBook/ Mac mini and it simply is not compatible, no matter what version of OSX. It lacks specific chip components required for the code.

  • JDK1.3 and Netmeeting Not compatible??  Need expert opinion! Thanks!! :)

    Hi Everyone!! :)
I have researched this topic and have not been able to find a decent answer yet. So I'm asking the experts now!! :)
I have a java application written and compiled in jdk1.3. When a user runs this application remotely through netmeeting, they only get an intial gray frame, but nothing shows up on it. The menus and other GUI stuff ARE usuable, just not visible to the user. NOTE- if watching from the computer where the application is actually run from, everything initializes just fine. I've read that this is a problem in general with jdk1.3. Has anyone had any success with jdk1.4 and Netmeeting? Or does anyone know of a way to get to force jdk1.3 to work with netmeeting?? The later of the two would be preferable due to compatiblity issues with other programs and jdk1.4...
If I find something useful myself, I'll post it, but right now I've hit a dead end. ANY ideas would be great! ;)
    Thank You!!
    Katie

Sounds odd...I'm sure that the same technology used in Netmeeting was used in Remote client access...and I can run my applets thru Remove access with no problems. I usually find problems like this are related to a graphics problem...like colors too high, resolution too high, or the video acceleration is too high.

  • Apple Id for Mutiple devices (IPhone / IPAD and Apple note book)

is it preferable to ahve the same apple ID and email address for both my divices  (IPhone and my Apple book computer ?) or it is recommended to have a seperate one for each device ?

Yes it is preferable to use only one Apple ID for al Apple devices you own. In fact I think it is mandatory. Otherwise you can't sync all devices with iCloud and sign into the respective App stores at the same time.
Having more than one Apple ID becomes extremely confusing for you and Apple.

  • Iphone 4 stuck in recovery mode, sleep button not working and Apple not helping

    Hey Apple Community,
My iPhone 4 has been caused me a lot of frustration in the past week and after getting rejected from Apple Customer Service I did not know where else to turn. Sometime in January my iPhone 4's sleep/wake button stopped responding (it seemed to have gotten stuck) and in my initial call to Apple I was told there was nothing they could do for me even though I was within the 1 year warranty. I figured I could live without locking my phone, it wasn't that big of a deal to me so I simply ignored it.
However, just a few days ago my home button started being less responsive and this was clearly something I could not manage without. It was acting odd, sometimes it would work on the first try and sometimes it wouldn't do anything even after 4-5 tries. The worst part was it would automatically go to voice control even when it was sitting in my pocket. This of course caused me quite a lot of embarrassment since voice control would activate in the middle of my lectures sounding a chime and would dial a random person's number and I would open my phone to hearing someone calling my name. No fun indeed. I called apple about it last week and the nice agent told me that he had waved some sort of a fee to talk to me, I did not know I was required to pay to recieve basic customer support. He also said since I was over the one-year warranty by 7 days and because I do not have an Apple Care plan there was nothing he could do for me besides offering me a refurbished iPhone 4 for $150 as a replacement. I said thanks for the offer but that isn't exactly solving my problem. Since Apple comes out with a new phone every year and being an Apple geek I stay current with the new technology - the Apple care plan just doesn't suit me. I protect my phone in the best of cases and I have never damaged a product due to negligence, I'm not a kid anymore so I don't need to insure my products for my own stupidity.
Well just in the past few hours the demon iPhone went from making random calls to showing me a "Connect to iTunes" logo. I figured it had to be reset due to some software probelm (which meant I might not have to fork out $$$ to get the home button fixed), I gladly connected it to my laptop and now it wont seem to leave recovery mode. I have tried numerous times and it seems to complete recovery and then tell me to connect to itunes again. At this point I feel like I have lost my phone (and everything precious I had stored in it).
Of course as a business professional this is quite a set back. All my contacts, all my pictures and scans of products and documents and even the little notes that I kept on there to help me function - all gone. I haven't called Apple yet but since they were unable to help me before I am assuming there isn't much they can do now. I do not want to pay $29.99 to be able to talk to someone who will tell me I am out of luck. I am about 130 miles from the nearest Apple store so the Genius bar is out of the window. So in a last attempt to salvage this expensive piece of technology I turn to you Apple Community for suggestions. I was not able to find an email address for customer service or any method of communication to someone who could just hear me out and give me a reasonable excuse for why Apple cannot do anything for me.  I always heard about the great customer service of Apple but I am surprised to see a product fail before my eyes and the manufacturer simply refusing to accept responsibility; all because I am 7 days too late. If I had dropped it or damage it through some programming experiments then I understand Apple refusing to do anything but this case is very disappointing.
I would sincerely appreciate any advice and apologize for writing a novel here, I wanted to present my case in the fullest of details.
    - Raza

I had the same issue (stuck in "Connect to iTunes" logo mode) and looked around for a resolution.  I didn't find an answer posted anywhere.   I ended up holding down the power button and the home button for about 20 seconds before it finally came back and said I had to restore it.  Once restored, everything is fine.
My problem was caused when I accidentally closed the iTunes window when I was updating the software (I meant to turn off the volume as a song was playing, but clicked on the window close button instead of the pause button).  I tried holding both buttons for the recommended 10 seconds several times and it didn't clear the problem.  Holding both buttons for a longer period of time did the trick for me.
I hope this post is useful to others.

  • Someone keeps changing the password on my apple id and apple not responding to calls.

2 hours ago i recieved a wave of emails saying my appleID password was changed, and the credit information was changed.
I went and sure enough the password was incorrect.
I recovered the account to find the Account holders name to be:
    <edited by host>
    This is not me.
Ontop of that the credit card attached to the account was removed and a new one added(i won't reveal any info about this).
I'm seeking information on this since any calls made to apple are hung up by their voice recording system, telus can't assist me, and my credit card company says there is nothing they can do.
Why the **** doesn't apple have a 24/7 online chat support, they're a big enough company for this sort of thing.
Nothing else on my computer seems to be effected and i've scanned it with a few different virus scans now. I havn't downloaded anything recently, and none of my bank or any other information has been touched so far.(nor the online games i play however, they're much less significant).
This to me makes it seem as though the comprimise is on apples end and not mine, but i'm still open to suggestions seeing as i can't get a hold of apple until tomorrow after 9am...
e/ Also i tried a reverse lookup on 411.ca to find this person and they have an otherwise unlisted number. I was unable to call them and see what was going on there either...

It seems clear to me that this is a security matter.   You may find that contacting them via the link below will help your cause.
Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security
I would certainly edit out all financial details for the moment and re-enter them as directed by Apple security.
Apple will not usually change anything of their own volition so any direct contact suggesting what you describe is almost certainly dubious.
