Dvrcast load times - is HDS a solution?

We are streaming H.264 video to the dvrcast application using RTMP streaming.  Everything is working fine, though we are noticing some unacceptable load times when loading large videos for playback that have been recorded this way.  I found http://forums.adobe.com/message/3399973#3399973 which offers some suggestions.  I will be looking into post-processing the video to defragment it, but I'm also interested in HDS.  Is it possible to use HDS with dvrcast streams that were recorded to mp4 via RTMP streaming?  I tried the HDS URL convention - http://server/dvrcast_origin/stream_name.f4m but this isn't working.  Are there other suggestions for improving load times for long videos with the dvrcast application?

Additionally, I can't seem to get the F4V post processor to work with these files.  It is throwing an error "cannot open file" and the -v flag adds no helpful output.

    Hi, James.
Yes, the iBook should run even with no battery installed.
These are the four most common possibilities when the battery will not charge:
    (1) there is something wrong with your battery
    (2) there is something wrong with your power adapter
    (3) there is something wrong with your power input board (the part that contains the port where you plug in the adapter)
    (4) there is something wrong with your logic board
Since you have eliminated all the possibilities except (4), it is likely that your logic board is having problems. The PMU (Power Management Unit) is part of the logic board, and it may be going out (hence, temporarily working again when you reset it). Since the iBook is not running reliably without the battery in place (as it should), replacing the battery most likely would be futile.
When a computer gets to be five years old, it seems a bit short-sighted to pay very much for repairs, just to have something else go wrong sooner rather than later. Have you had a look at the hugely improved specs on the new MacBooks? Is it time for a new portable to avoid embarrassment during your presentations? It sounds like that could be your best option.

  • Slow BIOS load times

Hello, I own a T420i and have been experiencing very slow load times on startup.  The "ThinkPad" BIOS screen stays active for roughly 5-10min before continuing like normal.  Once operational the computer works fine other then an occasional freeze up (which becomes extremely annoying with a boot time of 10 min).
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Epitome, welcome to the forums,
do you have any external devices, especiall USB storage, attached to the system when booting?  If so please detach them to see if you experience the same problem.
If the system boots normally please exclude the USB devices from the boot order in BIOS; the system may be scanning them for boot information before moving on to start from the main hard drive.

  • Long loading time if no internet connection available (VS 2005 Redist)

    Hallo forum members!
I've been searching for a solution for my problem for a while - without success. It isn't really a critical issue, but quite annoying anyways.
Here's the problem i'm dealing with: I've developed an .NET application using Visual Studio 2005 and the included Crystal Report classes. When deploying my module everything works  as expected, offering a decent performance when loading the Crystal Report assemblies provided by the redistributable package - if an internet connection is available. If the system doesn't offer such a connection (e.g. not properly configured proxy settings) the module takes a huge amount of time to be loaded. An examination (using ProcMon) leaded to the conclusion that the Crystal Report assemblies try to retrieve the system connection settings from the registry in order to establish a connection to the internet. This is done only once when loading for the first time.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? What is this connection used for? Is there a way to suppress this behaviour on systems without a valid internet connection in order to avoid this annoying long loading time?
Thanks on advance for your help.
    Greetings,
    L.F.

Nothing like a good vacation. And I got your christmas present early :). While you were away we (actually one other customer) figured it out. I have written a note re. the resolution that was supposed to be published yesterday, but it's still not out there, so here it is as I submitted it:
    Symptom
When a report is loaded is takes between 150 - 180 seconds to display
This is only reproducible on computers with no internet connection
There are no error messages and the report comes up eventually
    Reproducing the Issue
Create a Windows application with the following function calls:
              new Report()
             report.SetDataSource(dataSet)
The function SetDataSource takes 2 plus minutes to execute
    Cause
On SetDataSource() an attempt is made to connect to crl.verisign.com
SetDataSource() uses the framework and as per the Microsoft Knowledge Base specified under "Resolution", it is actually the framework that is attempting the connection
    Resolution
Solution is described in this Microsoft Knowlege Base:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936707
The following Microsoft article also discusses the issue:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629393.aspx
An alternative workaround to the above is as follows:
Open IE and go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options...
    Go to the Advanced tab
    Find the Security heading
Under the Security heading find "Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
    Uncheck this option
    Keywords
long time load crl.verisign.com certificate revoked internet
The note will be published here:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-notes
and the number will be 1270414

  • How can I speed up loading time on Android?

    Hello!
I'm creating an AIR app for Android and I've run into an issue with the loading time: when the user first clicks on the icon, there's 10 seconds of black screen before the first screen of my app appears. At least this happens on older Android devices. The delay is only a second or two on newer devices. I know this question has been asked before:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/764981
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4035208#4035208
    http://zehfernando.com/2011/a-mobile-air-application-post-mortem/
But I haven't been able to find an answer that's worked for me. I've tried a a preloader and I've found that even loading the tiniest app takes around 10 seconds. This is how long it took me to load an app that was just a single frame with a simple rectangle image in it. From what I've read, the issue is that the Android device is loading the AIR runtime, and this takes time - no matter how small the actual app is. I should add that I'm using captive runtime.
I'm OK with the performance on new Android devices but, as far as I can tell, Android is so fragmented that many people are still running older devices and OS versions. So, I'd like to provide a good user experience on older devices. I think a ten second wait is just too long and will kill the entire experience for many people.
Is there any update on this? Does anyone have a solution?
If I can't improve the loading time, I think I'll try to only make the app available for newer devices.
I've heard people taking about creating 'native wrapper' and somehow embedding their swf file in native code that has a loading screen. Has anyone got something like this work? I'm currently reading up on Android splash screens in native code. They seem relatively simple to create. I hope I can somehow embed my swf in a native program with a splash screen. Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Damian

    Hi Anton,
Yes, I tried launching an empty project with just one frame and a simple rectange image embedded in it. This also took 10 seconds to load. Yes, I'm using AIR 4.0 as well. As far as I can tell, the issue is AIR itself is taking time to load onto the device - and this is independent of what I put in my program. I think I have three options:
    1. learn to live with the delay
    2. decide it's too long and not support older Android devices with my app
    3. figure out if I can embed my swf in a "native wrapper" as suggested in one of my original three links.
    I'm hoping to do 3, but I don't know if it's possible.

  • Same image, loaded multiple times: speeding up load time?

I wrote this message before thinking about embedding the
image... I was thinking that putting a relative path automatically
embedded the image, but in retrospect I was wrong, and that will
probably solve my problem. I'll just leave the question here anyway
    though:
I'm using image components in my application loaded from a
relative path. The problem is, I have many copies (30+) of the same
image, essentially 30+ identical image components which need to be
loaded/unloaded at different intervals, and they are not loading
fast enough for me. Would it be more effective to duplicate an
existing "master" Image to improve load time instead of explicitly
setting "image.source=" each time? Is there any better solution for
    improving image load speed?
Best of all would be some way to pre-cache or buffer images,
so that I can be guaranteed that they will load as quickly as
possible when I bind them to an Image component.
    Cheers!

JPGS are much better for photos.  PNGs are good when you need transparency.
Instead of Image Swapping, why don't you use a photo gallery?
FancyBox is nice..  It supports real text captions/descriptions, too.

  • Increase in Loading time for LV search in 2011

Initially when I loaded LV2011 my quick drop and the search took nearly 5 seconds but now it takes nearly 20 seconds to load so is there any reason for this kind of performance. Also I don't have anyother big software loaded or running in my PC. I have added few toolkits from VI package manager may be that is the reason?.
The best solution is the one you find it by yourself

    RavensFan wrote:
In my message in the other thread, I commented that I thought 20 seconds wasn't all that long.  But I thought you were commenting on the loading time for LabVIEW itself.  That does seem like a long time for any of the internal LabVIEW dialogs to come up.
(Actually, I find several internal dialogs seem to take longer to load the first time then they should including the properties dialog.  But not 20 seconds long.)
Hopefully, with this message thread in the LabVIEW forum, others can comment and offer suggestions on how to determine what the issue your having is.
Yes now I have plenty of toolkits ( Thanks for spotting me in the other thread )
Jeff you hit the bullseye. The loading was set as Load palette when needed.

ipad 3 locks up when typing in gmail since loading ios 8.  Any solutions?

Hey JoeiPod14, The battery meter whether you use the icon (which is better and uses less power) or the percentage, shows you the battery life remaining based on current power use. In others words as Illaass has stated it will fluctuate wildly. Example: You turn on your iPod it shows 90%, start gaming, let's say it's an online, high end graphics game. Your percent drops quickly to 65%, then you stop the game and start listening to listen to music on your iPod and the percent goes back up to 80%. In each case, the battery meter is showing you how much battery you life you have based on what you were doing at the time. Bottom line the harder the iPod has to work, the less time you will have to work / use it before the next charge. (I know-- duh!) Think of your battery meter as a gas tank gauge, it does not tell you when or where you will run out if gas or this case power only that it is close, if near empty. Oh, your question why it drops, even when I the charger, I assuming your iPod / iPhone was a sleep, powered down-- not working the CPU very hard, when you wake the device up there is power draw, so you see the fluctuations you have described, once the power surge stabilizes you get the current percent. Hope this helps. Cheers.

  • Application loading  time optimization

    Hi,
I have a pretty big application in flex, its loading time is more than 1 minute.
The swf size now is 1.6MB.
I have tried breaking the swf into seperate modules, but that didnt improve the performance and have also tried using RSL and referred images at run time didnt work.
Please let me know a solution to optimize Load time other than doing MVC.

I an having the same problem "Profiling can only be performed on the debug version of an application".
The application is compiled with '-debug'.
I am not sure if this is related, but in the Flex Builder console, a message appears:

Do you have the Desktop Manager set to load when the computer boots up? If so you can disable that by going into Add/Remove Programs, select the Desktop Manager and hit the Change/Remove button. Hit Modify, select the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and hit Next. You want to keep going through the wizard to pick the same options you did when installing it. When you're on the last screen before you hit 'Install' uncheck the box that says to start the Desktop Manager when the computer starts.

  • Youtube loading times are crawling

Hello, ever since I purchased my 13" aluminium Macbook Pro I have encountered extremely long YouTube load times. No matter what the quality of the video is, it usually a few minutes to buffer. This does not seem to be an ISP problem due to the fact that I have Verizon Fios. Anybody out there that has been having the same issue or knows of a solution to it.
    Thank you, Sincerely Logically Undeniable.

Adobe Flash player is 3rd party software. YouTube is a flash/FLV site which Quicktime does not support. With the help of Adobe Flash player and Perian, you should have no problems playing YouTube videos.

  • Loading times web view / html5 animations / edge hype

    Hi,
I have been working with iPad publishing software quite a while now and have experienced Woodwing as well as DPS. I have come across an issue  with DPS which I can't find a solution for. When creating web view content, I mean either normal websites or Html5 animations the loading times with DPS are to long and there is the issue of the spinning loading.gif.
Is there some way to speed up the loading time for everything which is loaded within the web view window? How would I for example speed up the time to load animations from Edge or from Hype?
From my point of view this is a crucial thing to be solved.
Also I know from working with Woodwing that they solved that issue and things regarding the loading time of web content/animations are running a lot smoother. ( and no I can't  just use Woodwing I need to solve this with DPS )
Solutions welcome and info on when stuff like this will be solved as well.
    Thank you,
    Alex

Neil, can you even say how long it takes? ... We are currently working on a magazine app for an international car manufacturers and hope that we can publish it without loading time.
    Thanks for your support!

One possible solution would be to organise your inbox into folders.
Its never relly good on any system to have one folder that has everything in it.
Try going to you web gui for that mail account and organise your folders and move mails from your inbox into corresponding folders for better organisation.
Several folders containing the same amount of one folder will usually load a little quicker as the folder may not be accessed to download its content unless veiwed.
So having 10 folders with organised content, and you inbox as an area thats to hold only new emails would work much much quicker with imap.
Most imap servers will only update the contents of a folder when its veiwed.

  • Loading Time in TPVS for entire MOT

    Hi ,
I have an issue in TPVS planning. I have maintained Loading time based on Means of Transport in Condition "LOAD".Say Loading time is 4:00hrs.
After the optimisation run,in the  planned shipment System is taking Loading time 4:00hrs for each freight unit rather than for entire Vehicle. For example,if i have 4 freight units in the Shipment,Total Loading time 16hours is being captured by system. It is understandable that since Transportation planning is based on Freight units in TPVS hence it is taking for each item.     Is there any way to capture only 4:00 hours for entire Truck(means of transport).
    Regards
    Ahmed
Edited by: Aktar Ahmed Shaik on Feb 5, 2008 2:01 PM

    Hi Ahmed,
TP/VS calls APO-scheduling per freight unit that is loaded or unloaded, and then the loading and unloading times will be calculated separately.
Although it's possible to influence the individual scheduling result by a BAdI, I don't think it's possible to get the desired result as during the call you never know how many freight units will be loaded onto the truck in total. For this reason it's not possible to distribute the total loading time per truck to the number of freight units that is loaded or unloaded.
For the optimizer it would of course be possible to update the loading/unloading durations in the shipments after they have been created, but as this will change the total duration for loading and unloading you will most likely end up with shipments that can not be posted to LC due to some resource capacity conflicts. I would not recommend to do this...
For me it looks like there's no way to achieve the desired result, especially not in standard.
To get to a solution that's at least close to what you want you could create some stepfunctions based on the capacity of the resource and the freight unit. However, if the resource will not be fully utilized this will lead to too small loading and unloading durations...
    Regards,
    Sebastian

  • How to decrease Microsoft Word 2010 Add-in loading time

Problem Statement.Developed a Microsoft Word 2010 (32 bit) Add-In using VB.Net 3.5 in visual studio 2010. I am not sure if i followed required procedures but somehow i achieved what was required at client end.
    Steps followed
    1. New VS2010 solution VB >Office> Word 2010 Add In
    2. Added ribbon and  Inserted buttons on ribbon,
    3. Added desired code behind buttons
    4. Added a VS Installer setup project and added registry entries,
    5. Manifest "path\WordAddIn.vsto|vstolocal"
    6. LoadBehavior set to 3
Now problem is after installing Built Add In on Client computers Microsoft Word 2010 32 bit takes almost 25 to 40 seconds to load every time Word is started  client computers having Win Server 2008 R2 64 bit.
