DW cs3 help files not installed

DW CS3 F1 does not work. . . files not installed. Am I
missing something? I began to reinstall dw but did not see a custom
or options so I backed out. Any ideas?

Not suite...I installed DW CD only and all its apps. like
Bridge etc.
I press F1 and I do get the help viewer, but it says files
not available, and I searched *.chm files only found xmxml.chm or
something like that (sorry not at that PC now).
I am not squeemish about installing software, but with adobe
I am extremely cautious. My last resort is to
deactivate/un-register license and reinstall.

  • Help File not installed?

    Hi,
whenever I select the Photoshop CS5 help from the menue, the Adobe Help Program appears in the Dock but it is empty, no Help File accessible. This is also in Illustrator and Indesign. Any suggestions to fix this.
    Thanks in advance

Firefox uses the "chrome://" protocol to access its own internal files and also access files from extensions, so that has nothing to do with Google Chrome.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Take a look at iTunes for Windows: "Error 7" message when opening iTunes. Perhaps your .NET Framework needs a repair.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Elements 7 install issue, help file not found

I'm at my wits' end with this thing.  In the Organize mode, clicking on the Photoshop Elements Help does nothing, and in the Edit mode, I get the following error message "The requested help topic could not be found.  Please reinstall Photoshop Elements to fix this problem."  I have un- and reinstalled many times, trying many variations -- installing from the desktop, in a simplified mode, as an administrator, and combinations thereof.  The same every time.  There does not appear to be a help file.  Please help me someone, I am feeling very, very frustrated.

See this FAQ for how to access the Help content online or download it as a PDF:

  • Cannot open CS3 Help Files

    Windows XP Pro; SP3; CS3
Following hard drive failure I downloaded CS3 to new hard drive. Individual applications downloaded and opened OK however I cannot access help file for any of the CS3 applications. When I open Indesign or Photoshop Help from the Help  drop down menu, the Adobe Help Viewer 1.1 appears. When I fill in the Browse and Search boxes on the Viewer screen and hit enter, a list of help topics appears. When I click on any one of those topics, the Viewer screen remains empty with the exception of the cursor arrow and hourglass. How can I access help files for CS3?

Sounds like the uninstall using the cleanup tool was not complete (and I feel like we're leading you deeper into the abyss, but I don't know what else to tell you). I'd see if you can "repair" from the installer disk, or run the cleanup again.
As I said before, the CS3 installer was the worst in Adobe history and would fail for the slightest provocation. It's VERY important that nothing that could conflict is running while you install, and you should be logged into the Administrator Accont for best results. One of the things that I forgot to mention earlier as a known problem is flash player, and you should uninstall that. There was a special tool for one of the versions that was likely to be on systems running CS3, but I'm on the raod and this machine is not loaded with a lot of my reference materials, so I don't have that link. It will be mentioned in earlier threads about CS3 installation problems from several years ago if you search.
As for the the latest error message you see, if my memory is correct, that one is fixed with this: Flexnet Patch. The description would lead you to believe it works only on Vista, but it does run on XP (and I needed to use it myself at one point).

  • Help files not available?

I am new to Leopard 10.5.6, working on a new MacPro, CS3. I wanted to explore options for exporting an InDesign file as text only, but I get the message "Adobe Help Viewer is not installed or the installation has been damaged. Please reinstall InDesign."
As I noted, this is a brand new machine, and I installed CS3 with no apparent problems a couple of days ago. And I made sure to update Leopard before the installation.
Is this one of those Leopard/Adobe problems, or do I really need to reinstall to restore the Help Files? I've been working with CS3 for a year now, and never encountered this problem on my older G5 with Tiger. Sadly (?), the logic board went out on that machine.
I appreciate your time and help.

I had the same issue: I have been running InDesign CS3 under Tiger (10.4) for a long time. InDesign was updated to 5.0.4.
When I upgraded to Leopard (10.5.6), the Help menu in CS3 just showed a Spotlight box, not the other CS3 Help menu contents, like InDesign Help, Activate, Register, etc.
I'm sure it was because I installed Leopard AFTER installing CS3. What I did was just re-run the Indesign_5_0_4.dmg updater, and now my CS3 Help menu is back to what it should be. I didn't have to reinstall everything, and the updater really did run even though IDCS3 was already "at" 5.0.4.
Just thought I'd post for other late late late Leopard adopters like me

  • The dreaded "Video Error-File Not Installed" When trying to watch LiveTV in WMC

I'm getting the following error message when trying to use Live TV in WMC:
    Video Error
Files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer.
On this system my tuners are the Hauppauge HVR 2250 and the Hauppauge HD PVR.  It took awhile to set up, but when I click play on a channel I get 10 seconds of video, an audio loop of the same sound over & over followed by the above error message.
I ran into this problem once before on my Home Theater HTPC when trying to access the ATI Cable Card solution.  To get that to work I had to uninstall and reinstall Playready.  I tried 3 different ways of doing this on my new build & it did
not fix the problem.  The only fix I didn't try was the one on Ceton's website that involves a whole lot of deleting of folders.
Since this current build doesn't have a cablecard installed, and gets the non-clear QAM stations from settop box through HD PVR, would it still be the Playready needing to be reset?  The symptoms look identical to when I had the previous problem.
These same files play in the BeyondTV that I'm trying to migrate from, so all codecs appear to be onboard.  I am using the latest HDPVR MediaCenter driver from the Hauppauge website & the latest drivers on the HVR-2250.
    Thanks for any help!

I had this problem after upgrading my graphics card to an AMD 5450 and the solution after a couple of days of hair pulling was one I hadn't come across before in relation to this problem.
It turned out that the problem was caused by the screen refresh rate, it was set to 60Hz by default and I got the Video Error message but if I changed it to 50Hz then playback of recorded programs or watching live TV worked.

  • Help File not displaying with in SAP

    Hi
Im trying to get the help file to work in SAP.
i Have looked at where SAP is fetching the file and i have placed it there.
But when i go into SAP and press F1 i get an error message ...
"Navigation to the webpage was canceled
       What you can try:
         Retype the address. "
Can anyone please help me with this one as to why it is not working?
    Thanks

    Dear Jonathan,
Could you please try the following steps :-
o Change the Help Settings from 'Shared Folder' to 'Local
Installation' under Help => Help Settings.
o Business One will then look for the Help folder on the local B1
Client and not on the B1 Server.
o This will only work if the B1 Client has the Help folder locally
    installed.
o If not this could be manually copied from SBO_SHR directory to
    the client.
o Alternatively all the B1 Clients will need to be reinstalled.

It shows "The requested URL /de_DE/Photoshop/cs/using/AH_HOME.html was not found on this server."
All apss have been updated to the newest release, everything else is working fine.
I sue Win 7 64bit german, ps is also installed in german.
    Any ideas?
PS: sorry just realized I put this into the mac thread by error. Can someone please move it to the correct forum areas pls?

So why are you posting in the Macintosh Forum?
Oh, sorry, I didn't expect people who can't even read on a forum.

  • DW CS6 Help is not installed, Mac, USA?

How can I get DW help installed?
I had Dreamweaver CS4, now bought CS6, which I installed last night. There is no option for installing help but DW says it is not installed.
Tried opening dreamweaver_reference.pdf online in Safari, saved the file Acrobat can open the pdf. I need to use help whether I am online or offline. It would be nice to launch it from within DW.
Message was edited by: Wholeo, got PDF downloaded

Thanks for the confirmation. I did manage to get a pdf that Acrobat opens. It is for the cloud (12.1) version and doesn't match my non-cloud version. I'm also puzzled why Safari can't "Save As" the pdf that I'm looking at online. I will keep looking for the DW 12.0 version of pdf help.
I can see that Adobe wants us to see the latest and greatest help and not be mired in outdated help on our offline computers. But the way the community help is structured for me is bizarre. I'm always getting an answer for a different product or version. I haven't learned how to keep the online help focused.
For a simple example, I don't want borders around my images. I see there is a CSS path of defining borders. But at the moment I just want to put "0" in the Properties box for my image. But there is no choice for border. Even when I edit the code and the img has the border attribute, it doesn't show in the Properties box. But the PDF help says it is.
OK, I'm just building up to blow the new software frustration tank overflow valve. I suppose and hope that in two minutes I will find some icon or clue as to how to reveal desired properties.

  • What are "CPU Help Files" (custom install)?

I did a custom install, since I don't need the extra languages, only need some printer drivers, etc. One of the optional items is "CPU Help Files". The details field just echoes "CPU Help Files", with no explanation of what these are, why I would/not want them, etc. Does anyone know?

    Hi Doug,
take a look at this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5789690
It looks like these "CPU Help Files" are some sort of documentation.
