DW CS3 Locking up

Frustration aside...
At first I was unable to make dreamweaver open at all. SO
would up uninstalling all older versions of DW and reinstalling CS3
and now it opens.
However... I have periodic hangs in the application while
using it.
Examples:
- Scroll down the page and click.... wait 10 secs and get a
cursor finally.
- Copy and and paste something.... wait 15 secs for the
patse to happen and get my curson back
- Save something... wait 10 secs for the program to become
usable again.
- Move my curson down the Files menu (not even click
something) and it disappears for 10 secs before I can select a file
again... and hopefully I made it to the file I needed.
None the less... I am finding this to be a large waste of
development time.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues and if so have any
work arounds?

We have been able to reproduce some of these Mac performance
issues. It's
specific to Intel Macs and only occurs with some files and
some sites. It
seems to mainly affect pages with several images. It also
occurs if you're
local root folder is on a remote machine. A TechNote will be
posted soon.
We're trying to gather customer files to make sure we're
seeing all of the
different variants of this.
Since you're not located in North America, I'm going to have
someone in the
UK tech support office investigate your tech support
incident.

Photoshop CS3 locks up when trying to open an EPS file

Hello everyone. I have a problem with CS3 locking up when trying to open an EPS file. The files were created in Quark 4.0. Not sure if it has anything to do with my new computer, which has Microsoft XP 64 bit. There's another computer in my office which has CS4 that can open these files. Please help..!! Thank you.

Try installing a PostScript printer on your XP64 system. For some reason this often seems to fix issues with EPS handling...

Indesign CS3 Locks up (Not Responding) In Windows Vista 64 bit

Fully updated InDesign CS
Fully Updated Windows Vista 64 bit
90% of the time it locks up right away upon opening any file. When I create a file from scratch it locks up as I try to save or export as a pdf. Basically I can't touch anything except for the settings under Edit.
Not sure how to fix it. I'm a graphic designer, and it's been like this since I reformatted 3 weeks ago, can't accept any projects until I get it up and running again.
Any ideas? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The subject line says CS3 and the body copy says CS?
Which is it. Note: CS3 is version 5 and CS is version 3.
CS3 is the earliest version supported under Vista.

Dreamweaver CS3 locking up

I just bought CS3 and I am very satisfied with it except for
DW. The problem is that on some pages on my local websites when I
switch from code to design view, DW locks up for about 20 seconds
and then renders the page. I had NO problems whatsoever on these
pages before with MX2004 when it was using Rosetta to emulate DW.
That is why it is strange, I would expect for it to be MUCH faster
now. Just FYI, I am on a Mac.
Does anyone else have this problem? Do you know a solution to
this?
This is driving me crazy. Please help!

DW CS3 locked files and FTP issues - cannot update pages

I just upgraded to Dreamweaver CS3 and now cant seem to
update any of my web pages. I can connect to the server etc and see
my files locally & remotely but when I try check out a file to
update it I get an error message saying 'index.html is a locked
file and can be viewed but not changed'. All I can do with it is
view it. When I try to unlock any files locally nothing happens????
This was not an issue before I upgraded.....I have checked my
FTP details with a version on my pc and there are exactly the
same.....does anyone know is this an issue with mac version of
Dreamweaver CS3?

Can you post a link to your child or template page and tell
us what you have
changed that didn't propagate?
Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
not propagating
from Template to child -
1. Rename the Templates folder
2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
the site other
than root level
3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
will not
propagate)
5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
without also
uploading the changed local files
6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
and child page
is broken
7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
template,
adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
an *.html
extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
this is the case
by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
like <!--
TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done). If
you *have
done this*, then recreate the child pages (in DWCS3) using
FILE | New > Page
from Template, select the template and click CREATE.
The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
Recreate Site
Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
them. Have you
done any of those?

CS3 locks up when time machine backs up

When I'm working in Adobe CS3, namely Photoshop, illustrator and After Effects, the program locks up if time machine tries to make a back up. Time machine seems to get stuck too, appearing to make a backup forever until I force quite from the CS3 app.

Where are your backups going, to an external disk, Time Capsule, or ??
Where is the data for those apps, on your internal HD, an external, or ??
Try the things in #D2 of the Time Machine - Troubleshooting *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
If still no help, copy and post the +TM Buddy+ messages (per #D2) for one of these backups here.

Contribute CS3 locks up iMac

Hi,
I have a friend who had been using the Mac version of
Contibute 3, then upgraded to Contribute 4 and now upgraded to
Contribute CS3. Here problem began about 8 months ago and she has
been on the phone with Adobe support for hours with no resolution
to fixing it. Her basic problem is that she can edit find but when
she goes to Publish her site, he computer locks up and she has to
unplug everything in order to get out of it. She uses Road Runner
connecting through a Linksys router and has to unplug these 2
devices to get her computer to boot again. Any idea what might be
happening with all of this. I don't use Contribute but I know that
there is a solution for her problem - anyone can give point me in
the right direction or a way to resolve this? She likes Contribute
since it's so easy to use. I tried to get her to use Go Live but
she didn't like it as much. Any input greatly appreciated.

Hi again,
I did find out that my friend's problem is somehow connected
to the way Contribute connects to the internet. When I plug her
iMac directly into her cable modem, Contribute CS3 works
flawlessly. When I connect it to her Linksys router, it bombs her
computer everytime she tries to publish a page. Any ideas greatly
appreciated.

Contribute CS3 Locking up pages

My client just began using Contribute CS3 and each time she
edits a page, then publishes, she can no longer access the page for
further editing until we unlock the page for her.
She'll get an error that 'this page is being edited by her
and not available to edit'. Or the message will say she's editing
the page on another computer.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, how did
you resolve it?

I have been having the same problem with both Contribute 3.1
and CS3. It only occurs when I have a lot of links on the page. I
am now using spry menus and have a lot of links on every page and
so Contribute is locking up when I try to publish. Then you can't
use it again until you clear out the drafts. Without the spry menus
it was always just one draft page, but now with the spry menu it
grabbed all of my links to other pages and created a draft for each
one. I now have to clear out around 50 drafts. Can anyone help with
this?

Flash cs3 locks up macbook pro

Anyone else having this issue? My machine complete locks up
when I am running flash cs3. I can't be 100% sure but It only seems
to happen when I collapse the actions panel, and the canvas has to
expand to fill the rest of the space.
I am on a new Macbook Pro 2.5ghz.

Turn TM off in the system preferences. Plug in your BACKUP drive. Open Spotlight preferences and make sure BACKUP is excluded from Spotlight indexing
Open Disk Utility and perform a "Repair Drive" on that drive. It looks like there is a pretty big problem as reported in the log. Either you yanked the FW cable and dropped the connection. If it's not the case, you'll have to identify why that drive looked liked it was not present.

Is it possible to lock XML Story? I tried the following code,it throws error "lock state is read only property".

Praveen, you can lock or it automatically locked the structure view when you use InDesign with InCopy.

Why is Premiere Pro CS3 locked?

It has red frame when opened, doesn't save anything (doesn't matter how many times do I click "Save project")

hmmm...maybe trash your prefs.. explain more what happened if you want...what "changed" etc

Ps cs3 locks up

My computer locks-up when I do even simple tasks like moving layers or changing text size.
I have XP os 1.5 GIG ram , I have an older machine with less ram and I do not have this problem.
When it locks-up I must do a hard boot to start over.
If anyone might have any ideas I would I would appreciat it.
I have no problem with any other software.
I am sure it is a bad setting in the software , 71% of ram dedicated to PS, cache level 4 , history states 15

Have you trashed the prefs as per the FAQ in ths forum? Short of that: You may have a bad font somewhere that messes with your font lists and possibly even the interface fonts. Other theories: bad graphics drivers, incorrect tablet settings, slow harrdrives (scratch disks). The latter could be particularly critical on your system, since you realyl do not have much RAM to write about...

Dreamweaver CS3 Locks Up In Vista 32 bit

After installing DWRCS3 in Vista Home Premium, my formerly
operational program (in XP) now locks up in Vista.
The program opens, will fetch pages from the server - but,
when any part of the page (pictures or text) is selected, the
program stops responding.
A second click white screens the page. CTRL+ALT+DEL and we're
out.
This is happening repeatedly.
What's up?
Any fixes for this?

I looked around for a bit but couldn't find any posts - or web pages on the main site for that matter that actually addresses the locking up issues that Dreamweaver is having.
I mean there's plenty of users complaining about it (like this guy), i'm just not sure any actual people work at Adobe, just CusSer robots, btw I'm actually looking for user suggestions as Dreamweaver has no ******* idea what's wrong with it's own program - nor give off the attitude that they care.
How about just stripping the whole damn thing down and start over, you know like a Chrome version - you know, so that when you accidentally input the wrong image path it doesn't take 18 minutes to kill the process without having to control alt delete - what the hell is it doing, not just with that but with everything it does, what's all the unneccesary background noise constantly, what the hell is this program doing on my server when I connect that is so damn intensive it can't let go long enough to listen to the guy telling it what the hell to do.
I'm really just ******** because I already know there isn't an answer - I'm moving from my love hate relationship with adobe into just straight up hate.
No reply necessay - I've already replaced most of my web design tools, not because I wanted more from web developer tools, but simply because I didn't want to think about how much money i am wasting of my employer having to spend 3 hours on a support call with no results (EVER) I've made a few too, and sitting here tinkering with buggy **** ALL day.

After effects CS3 locks up at Initializing User Interface

I am doing an install for a school lab and they are requesting both CS3 and CS4. Is that possible under Mac OS 10.5? I have managed to get everything to work except After effects CS3. They didn't need CS4 after effects so i removed that and CS3 after effects still doesn't work. I removed the prefrerences in the users Library folder and allowed after effects to re-create it and I am still unable to load the program It Freazes at Initializing User interface. I have tried uninstalling CS4 and CS3 After effects still didn't work. I just uninstalled CS3 as well and re-installed it again and i am still getting the same error. Any suggestions? I might Remove CS3 again and use the script that is on the net to remove all CS3 data.

What Macs are we talking about? There are some issues with some iMac models that seem to occur with specific configurations of said iMacs. A regular occurence is some 2007/2008 series models with ATI cards not launching AE at all or going into a freeze. Users have reported that completely re-installing OSX fixed these issues, so I can only assume it's a flaw in the factory disk image used to pre-format and pre-configure those machines upon delivery. Other than that I'm not aware of a specific cause, but who knows. If you can provide more info, I'm sure something can be clearly made out as the culprit.

Encore CS3 locks up while loading

Encore crashes while loading. It stops at loading Media Layer: DXCaptureSource.d and causes the application to hang.

After installing DVD writer-related software, i.e. Nero and Lightscribe I noticed the problem. I have since removed all of these applications and their values in the registry - to no avail. Encore will only run if I start the system with basic drivers only (MSCONFIG - Diagnostic Startup). Can anyone help? Thank you.

Supplemental Information: Upon disabling Windows Audio Service (in MSCONFIG), Encore will load properly. The problem is that without Windows Audio Services you have no sound. Can ADOBE look into this conflict, please?
