DW CS3 Refuses to Synchronize!

This may be related to the
previous
post, but my symptoms are slightly different so I thought I'd
post separately.
I had Studio8 installed, and upgraded yesterday to CS3 (this
is on an intel Mac running 10.4.9). It was nice that CS3 detected
and imported all of my existing sites for me. However, I'm
completely unable to synchronize.
When I try, Dreamweaver reports that no sync. is necessary
(not true). Furthermore, when I ask it to display the list of files
for manual disposition, no files are listed even if I've tried to
sync the entire site. The whole process takes about 1 second on a
site with thousands of files (a normal sync check should take about
30 seconds for this particular site). To make matters worse, when I
reopen the site back in Studio8, the same problem now happens
there, too. Note that I had absolutely no problem syncing just
prior to installing CS3.
I have not found a solution to this problem. Restarting DW,
rebooting, recreating my site cache, unchecking "Maintain Sync.
Info" in the site preferences and subsequently rechecking it after
rebuilding the site's cache, blowing away my various "_notes"
directories...all have failed. Apparently, I'm going to be unable
to sync. This is a seriously not good.
If anyone has a work-around or knows what could be causing
this problem, *please* let me know.

@David - we cross-posted. I didn't see your response.
Answers to your questions:
1. Modify a file and save it. Is the modified date/time the
current
date/time?
[Steve] Yes, it's the current date/time both in the Finder
and in DW's browser. 5/4/07 2:36pm (local)
2. In the expanded view of the Files panel, what's the remote
server say
for the modified date/time?
[Steve] 5/4/07 2:26pm
3. In the Files panel, right-click the local file and chose
Display
Synchronize Information. What does it say? The important part
is just the
first few lines (the explanation text is static text that we
don't need):
[Steve] "There is no synchronize informaption for [file].
This is probably because..."
Manually putting the file, and looking again, it now says:
File: [myfile]
Local Remote Time: 5/4/07 2:36 PM
Remote Time: 5:4:07 2:41 PM
I then made an edit. The local timestamp is 2:42pm. I select
the file and try to synchronize it. I still get the "No sync. is
necessary" dialog, and, like before, if I ask to look at the files,
the list is empty.
Looking at the Display Synchronize Info dialog again, I see
the timestamps updated:
Local Remote Time: 5/4/07 2:36 PM
Remote Time: 5/4/07 2:41 PM
Local Testing Time: File has not be transferred to/from this
server
Testing Time: File has not be transferred to/from this server
Note that Dreamweaver still believes the file hasn't been
transferred even though it has!
Also note that the Display Synchronize Info local timestamp
does not match the one in the file pane, even after
refreshing.

  • Indesign CS3 refuses to load

Hi, i would be grateful for any advice if you have experience of the same.
My problem is that indesign CS3 refuses to launch all of a sudden.  About two weeks ago it just wouldn’t (and still hasn’t) loaded.  When i click on the application the spinning donut appears beside the cursor as if it is going to load, but no splash screen appears. and then the spinning "donut" next to the cursor disappears.  If i then start my task manager i can see that indesign.exe is running and if i try to open indesign again another occurrence in task manager will load and so on.  THATS IT, any ideas please?
i am running Vista 32bit.  the software has worked fine for at least a year and then it just refused to load.  All other creative suite applications run fine (although i am scared to say that due to their temperamental nature).  I haven’t actively installed any updates for any adobe programmes or windows updates prior to the problem either.  The only thing i can think i have installed recently is a new version of iTunes and that’s it.  I am up-to-date with service packs and updates for vista too.
i have repaired indesigns installation - No joy, i have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled indesign - No joy.  i have also removed the registry entries and data for indesign in the "user app data folder" for indesign when uninstalling and still no joy once re installed.  its driving me mad.
Please note i have spent the last 2 weeks trawling and i mean trawling Google and the adobe forums for advice.  i have tried many suggestions but am open to any you have to offer, i just want to avoid people thinking i am coming here without researching myself first.  i did try one suggestion which is where you start the machine in safe mode and see if indesign cs3 loads then, which it does, but once i restart to the full usual mode - nothing
Thanks in advance, i appreciate any useful advice
    Matt

    Hi Peter,
i have noticed the following -
i have two user accounts on my PC (running vista).  One being my personal one and the other being an Admin account (i set this up as i had to do something that required permission - i forget what now - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/).  If i log into the admin account i can launch Indesign as intended, "one click and open".  However it still refuses to load in my personal account.  i cant see how any updates etc wouldnt have been applied globally - so whats the difference?
I know that probably doesnt help much but thought you may have seen similar or in the past or it may help you identify my problem from past experiences?
    Thanks

  • DW CS3 Refusal to Install - No Beta Use! (WinXPsp2)

I have tried and tried again to install DW CS3 on WinXP SP2
with no results. I have never used the CS3 betas as this is a
production machine. Every time, it only installs the Shared
components and then fails to install Dreamweaver.
I still have DW8 installed, but based on what I read here,
that does not seem to be an issue.
Based on what was stated about this error being related to
the CS3 beta, and my inability to find any other suggestions, I ran
Adobes CS3Clear program and tried again. Same problem.
Any help on this would be most appreciated.

    IntrinsicMac,
When you say "every time, it only installs the Shared
components and then fails to install Dreamweaver..." I think there
is some components that you tried to install on your Windows, and
it could be a problem with Installer app and Windows.
I would think that you probably want to do a complete
uninstall of all Dw CS3 components still sitting on your hard
drive. You might want to take a look at Dreamweaver CS3 online help
or Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 online tech support to address this issue.
I think it is possible the factor that contribute to your ongoing
problem not able to install your Dw CS3 app effectively.
    Hope that helps, no?
    Cheers, Brian

  • Premiere Pro CS3 refuses to open

    Hello everyone,
I purchased CS3 Production Premium as a university student and am having difficulties with certain programs.  I installed the suite in its entirety and successfully activated everything, and certain programs like Photoshop CS3 from the suite will open, but programs like Premiere Pro, Aftereffects, Audition, and Soundbooth will not.  I have tried running the programs as an administrator, in compatibility mode, and nothing works.  The executable process for each program I attempt to start shows up in task manager, but there is no splash screen or anything coming up on the screen, even after leaving the computer for a long period of time.
    Here is my system configuration:
    OS: Vista 64 bit
CPU: Intel 3570k (not currently overclocked)
    16GB of ram
Currently running Microsoft Security Essentials as my AV.
Can anyone shed some light on this?  Thanks in advance.

For Premiere Pro and After Effects, the main cause of a failure to launch is an obsolete video driver, hence John T's questions. With PS CS 3, not so much, but more on it later.
With PrPro, another possible cause is that you have VST's, that are hindering the launch. See this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2483418#2483418.
With Photoshop, another common cause for failure to launch is corrupt, or ill-formed fonts. In PrPro, those same problem fonts do not usually surface, until one uses the Titler. See this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4185832#4185832
Photoshop, from about CS 5, also relies very heavily on the interface with the video driver, but in CS 3, not quite so much.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • HDV project in CS3 refuses to make preview

Producing a set of 4 x 75 secs modules. Each require a lot of clever stuff so AFX  CS3 is required. The difference is I'm working in 1080 25i HDV instead of SD.
Imported off line edit from Prem Pro CS3 as usual and all seems fine (apart from the inordinate amout of time it takes to load up). It's when I go to do a short preview test that it all comes to a halt. On one occassion it offered a window saying something about Adobe: Dynamic Link...something or other. I forgot to make a note and that notice hasn't appeared since.
While it isn't rendering a preview, the whole thing freezes up, but after 10 minutes it unfreezes and I can work again, but not make previews.
I tried making a Movie of the same preview work area to see what happens and all is fine.
Interestingly, because of this problem I started another HDV sub-project to just make a few of the Fast Mo backgrounds. The preview worked fine with this. Might it be because I have so much footage loaded up as part of the main project?
I have 4gig RAM, Quad processors, but the project is on an out-board HDD.
    Any thoughts?

    Screenarena wrote:

A combination of circumstances, most likely. MPEG-derivatives get indexed/ conformed for use in Adobe programs, so the following things can happen:
    a) The MediaCache directories get full over time. Therefore
    b) Looking up the proper conform fiel for a clip may take very long. Plus
    c) If you did not change it, the conforms will be inside a sub-folder of your My Files folder, which as a system folder is already very busy.
Those 3 alone could already be enough. In addition, importing from Premiere would also include any conforms created there, which is the whole intention of the system, of course, but in your case may pose a disadvantage. There could be "tainted" parts from no longer valid clips and rendered snippets. So to cut a long story short: flushing the MediaCache and haven AE re-scan everything may solve the issue. I will not rule out, though, that the sheer number of clips could expose some sort of memory leak, so working with reduced project may of course be the only way out then...

  • CS3 Refuses trial period

    Setup:
    Athlon64 3400+ 2.2Ghz
Windows XP Pro (32 bit) virgin install with all updates and sp/2
I see there are plenty of posts here about problems
installing CS3 suite. I too had no luck on 3 separate machines. I'd ordered the Trial CD set for $20 and have working versions of Production Studio CS2 on 2 machines so after trying the install on three machine and more than once on each it would just stall out or never finish.
I spent a day trying some of the fixes I'd read about.. None of that is relevant here. But to cut to the chase... I just gave up on installing it and was busy with video productions.
A few weeks have gone by and for other reasons I happened to do a clean full windows XP install. My Media disk (Windows XP pro), is a bit old so doesn't have sp/2. But once installed, I upgraded to sp/2 and all updates without problems.
I happened to notice my CS3 suite install Discs put aside and thought hey... I wonder if that darn thing might install on this virgin machine.
It installed without a single issue. I was just rejoicing as the reboot started and was thinking about taking back all those bad things I thought about adobe.
I eagerly fired up the new pristine photoshop and got the expected screen to put in a serial number or click on the `trial' radio button.
Clicked the radio button and got a second screen advising me there had been a problem:
    ===========
    > A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial period for Adobe Creative Suite.
    > Click quit to see if restarting your computer or reinstalling the software will correct this problem. Otherwise click `continue' to display a screen where you can enter a valid serial number to begin using the product without trial.
    ============
Dog gone it... just when I thought I had it made.
I tried only the first suggested remedy of rebooting again ... I doubt reinstall of the software will fix it either really and the reinstall is quite time consuming.
None of the other posts I've scanned though here seemed to have encountered this... has anyone here seen this and more over have an idea how to proceed with the trial?
At this point I'm left with large pile useless shortcuts and quite a lot of HDD devoted to unusable software.

Hi, I also just downloaded the trial to test out the software, but lo and behold that error popped up. I found the ALM:

  • Synchronisation Not Working in My DW CC

    I'm using DW CC 13.2 on W8.1
For some reason a few months ago my synchronisation feature stopped working. When I click on the Preview button, the Background File Activity shows with the scan progressing through the selected files, but once finished nothing happens. The sync preview box does not appear - it justs says 'File activity complete'.
    The log just says:
    Started: 01/05/2014 09:47
    File activity complete.
    Finished: 01/05/2014 09:47
No files have been synced. I don't even see the 'no synchronization is necessary' message - although I do know that synchronization is neccesary.
    I've tried the troubleshooting here: http://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/kb/troubleshooting-synchronization-problems-dreamweaver -mac.html
and it's not resolved. Also I've reinstalled DW and still no joy.
Does any one have any ideas?
    Thanks

Oh My Gosh.  This has been bugging me for over a year with multiple versions of DW.  I would try to fix it, give up, and then try again the next time it became a real pain.
It may have happened after some security updates where the FTP user no longer had rights to create folders on the server anymore, now come to think of it.  It could also have been after a DW update but I wouldn't be able to remember what update, just that it persisted through multiple versions including tests of DW CC.  The message "no synchronization is necessary" was basically a bug in the program in my case.  After reading DW CS3 Refuses to Synchronize! - HighDots Forums where a user solved it themselves by discovering DW wanted to create a temp folder on the server it could not, then just gave a bad error response (no synch necessary) instead of saying it could not create the temp folder it wanted, I tested this myself giving back www subfolder creation rights to the FTP file synch user.
That was it!  Synching is working again after over a year!!  It was doubly confusing since it happened even if I was only trying to get/pull synch to local, no need to even update any server files, much less make server folders, but sure enough, as soon as the FTP user could create subfolders on the server it's actually looking through things again, instead of just saying "no synch necessary" though I knew it was most definitely necessary.  I imagine push synching is fixed again too.  If it is erring because it cannot create a server temp folder, the message should indicate that instead of defaulting an incorrect "no synchronization is necessary" errored message.
My error was different, since I was actually getting the "no synchronization is necessary" message, but maybe it's worth checking that your ftp user can create server subfolders.

  • Acrobat CS3 will not install in Windows 7

I have a new computer and just installed Windows 7 (32 bit). I needed to install CS2 to complete some legacy projects and then installed CS3. Every component installed fine except Acrobat. I have uninstalled, deactivated both CS2 and CS3...and then installed CS3. No luck. I can reinstall CS2 (including Acrobat) with no problems...but Acrobat CS3 refuses to install. There have been many postings here saying that the Acrobat 8.1 update is needed, but that only works if Acrobat 8 is installed. I can't get that far.

Yeah, I think it falls into the same category of problems as "not a valid win32 application", "invalid signature", and "unknown publisher" messages ... usually all of which relate to installers getting damaged on the download.
At any rate, I'm glad you got things working again.

  • Cannot open CS3 file in CC

So I finally stepped up to using Creative Cloud last week, but one file I created about 3 years ago in CS3 refuses to open.  It worked fine the first time - and I don't have issues with any other old files - but now I get the error message "Cannot open".  I'm using a Macbook Pro, but can't even open the file on my old PC now!  Any suggestions?

Ouch. Not much help now, but working off a USB stick is REALLY dangerous. Those things take longer to close files than people realize and pulling them out before things are done can cause real damage.
There's a free tool that might help, though: Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X
But keep looking for that backup.

  • Premier Pro CS3 crashes with Canon 7D HD files

I am just putting together a promo for a client, shot in HD on my Canon 7D. Everything went fine until 3 minutes into the project when Premier Pro CS3 refuses to render more than 1:30 minutes. (I already changed preferences to "Optimize rendering for Memory") Also the preview window is blanced out White and Black further down the project time line (even after changing back to:"Optimize rendering for Performance". Also now Premier starts crashing everytime I add a sound track. It looks as if the Canon 7D .mov files are too unwieldy for my new 12GB iMac 2,8 GHz Intel Core i7 (OSX 10.6.3).
I need some urgent help please, as my job in in jeopardy.
Should I convert my canon .mov files into H.264 first or what is the best way to work with these files?(using MPEG Streamclip)
Thanks very much for your help.

I am probably too late, but if you have Apple Pro Res 422 Codec available in MPEG Streamclip you should transcode your HD files to that and then bring it into Premiere. They will be easier to work with that way.
    Good Luck!

  • PPro CS3 fails to read Meta data

PPro CS3 fails to read Meta data in some files i have imported. It fails to read the start of the timecode and the tape name:
Files imported into PPro CS3: http://web.comhem.se/averdahl/pproCS3_meta.png
The same files imported into PPro 1.5: http://web.comhem.se/averdahl/ppro15_meta.png
The first two clips are captured in PPro 2.0, may 2006, and the rest is captured in PPro CS3, august 2007. I have then used the Split function in Scenalyzer Live to split the captured material into smaller clips. I added the Tape Name in Scenayzer Live.
The Meta data, timecode and tape name, can be read in Scenalyzer Live, Adobe Bridge 2.10.100 and PPro 1.5 but PPro CS3 refuses to read some of it. I have not PPro 2.0 installed right now but will give it a shot later. I have deleted Media Cache Database and reimported the clips in CS3 to no avail. I can create a new Project and import the files with the same reults, some meta data is skipped, so the Project itself is ok.
Do you know why this happens? Does it happen to anyone else? Do anyone have a solution?
    /Roger

Make sure that the file has a .html or another known file extension to make sure that the server recognizes it as an HTML file.
The server may send unknown files automatically as text plain.

  • Unable to check page in

I have a page checked out and have made some changes but DW
CS3 refuses to check the page back in. It does nothing when I
    select the command.
Do I need to reinstall DW CS3 or is there another fix?
    Thanks.

I am getting this same error in SharePoint Server 2013 when creating new publishing pages with a custom Page Layout created using Design Manager.  The page uses a custom Content Type isth a required column of "News Type" which I suspect is at the root.
The workaround is to Check In the newly Created page before adding any content, then check it out again.  why you cannot check it in after adding any more information than the Name is a mystery.

  • Advice on Converter for AVCHD to something Premiere Can Edit?

I'm dealing with some footage from a consumer camcorder in AVCHD, but Premiere CS3 refuses to
    import it.
I have looked for converters on Google and tried five different converters. They all produced horrible results.
Does anyone have a converter that they recommend that does a lossless conversion to something like Quicktime or XDCam format?

Neoscene looks pretty good.. is it a plugin or standalone?
Jim, our quad core machines didn't have enough power to run CS4 when we upgraded in Dec 2008, so we had to roll back to CS3 (CS4 would only stutter and halt). CS5 is, I believe, a Windows 7 application, and we're running XP, which is finely-tuned after years of getting to know the OS and the memory management entries in the Registry. CS5 will have to wait until we get a 16-core system and Win 7 64-bit, maybe in 3 more years.
