DW CS3 with ADDT crashes.

Hi all,
A strange thing has just started on my DWCS3/ADDT installation. Whenever I open a page that has anything to do with ADDT on it, DWCS3 hangs immediately and a XP Pro error message appears on screen informing me
"Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Originally I had thought it may be related to the site I was then working on, but it fails on all sites created with ADDT. Typically it will fail when opening a page with a Dynamic List or Dynamic Form.
I seem to recall similar problems due to Config folder issues in the dim dark past but cant remember the actual problem or resolution.
Anyone seen this and/or have a solution ?
Thanks.

Hi Gunter
As usual you have saved the day.
Firstly, I renamed the WinFileCache... file, opened up DW CS3 and the problem appears to have been resolved.
Secondly, now, that is a very interesting question regarding Daylight Savings which ended on 6th Apr, last weekend. Yesterday, 9th Apr, was the first time I had used DW CS3 since the week before last. (Have been on vacation. Now, I installed DW CS3 in Aug 2007 so yesterday was the first time it has been used since the ending of Daylight Savings last weekend. I did not experience this with DW-UD4, DW MX 2004 or DW 8 in previous years that I can recall.
Thanks again Gunter. If you ever make it to the Antipodes I will be pleased to by you a few beers.

  • Crashing of Photoshop CS3  with 10.5.4 and will 10.5.5 fix this

does 10.5.5 help or hinder working with Pshop?
in Tiger i never had problems with PSHOP crashing, never!!!!!!!
is it recommended to install the latest?
    is this a combi install?
    yes, no ???????

I've got 10.5.5 and just installed CS3... my photoshop constantly hangs. i need to save my files every minute in order to not lose valuable time and work. I have tried re-installing, no luck.
I've found the app usually hangs when I either try to access a file on a shared server, or select the TEXT tool...
On Adobe, they're saying it's a hardware issue, but that sounds like the easy way out...

  • Photoshop CS3 started to crash on me ?

    Hello.
I'm trying to figure out why my Photoshop CS3 and sometimes Bridge CS3 started to crash on me lately.
I did install a new ATI Radeon HD3870 card and new ram but it dosent look like thats the reason.
I say that because we have a second Mac Pro with the stock Radeon HD2600 and Photoshop CS3 also started to crash there sometimes.
It only happen sometimes. I did try to remember if i installed new Plug-ins.
I have the latest console crash.log file and i was wondering if anybody could translate it for me or check if it says anything helpful.
Hope to get a answer very soon because i use Photoshop in a daily work.
Computer specs: Photoshop CS3 & Bridge CS3 (Design Suite CS3) Mac Pro 8 Core 2.8Ghz with 14GB Ram, ATI Radeon HD3870, Mac Os X 10.5.6 (Before 10.5.4 with no crash ?)

  • How to activate CS3 after HDD crash? Error 159:18, reinstalling did not help.

I am unable to re-activate CS3 after a hard drive crash, despite complete re-installation of the software.
I have: MacBook Pro 2008, OSX 10.6.8, CS3 Master Collection.
I had a hard drive crash and had to restore from Time Machine. On previous occasions when that happened, I have been able to re-open and activate CS3 with no problem. This time I got "we are unable to activate Adobe CS3 MC" message, error code 159:18. I contacted Adobe by Chat, they recommended uninstalling and then re-installing CS3 from my original disks or http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs3-product-downloads.html
. I did that, but I got the exact same message and error code. After that, Adobe Chat could not help and pointed me here.
CS3 has worked fine for six years on this same laptop, even after several HDD crashes and restores from Time Machine. It does not appear to be simply a Time Machine-caused error. (Furthermore, if I startup my laptop from a cloned bootable backup external drive, CS3 still opens.)
Could it be a hard disk problem, the same one that has caused previous crashes?

do not use time machine to install adobe programs.
uninstall everything installed using time machine, clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then properly install using the installation files.

  • Dependent Drop-Down Menu in Dreamweaver CS3 and ADDT

    Hi All,
I have been trying to create a dependent drop--down menu so that when I select an item the corresponding information would populate the other field or fields. So far I have tried to use the tutorial posted on the link below by Waleed Barakat but I have had no sucess.
    http://www.tutorials-expert.com/tutorial/20354/-How-To-Create-Dependent-Dropdown -ListMenu-Forms.html
I wanted to know if anyone has something else that I can review to help me in this process.
    Thanks

    Hi Georgev63,
I followed the instructions to the link you sent me and it did not produce the results I had hope for.
The directions are pretty straight forward and I attempted the steps several times with the same results.
Basically the field that supposed to be the detail field is blank rather than having the ID of the master field.
Any further suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Premiere CS3 and CS4 Crashes

I'm having trouble with Premiere Pro versions CS3 and CS4 crashing and am not sure why. The problem usually occurs after a few minutes of the program being opened or when we either try to scrub through the timeline or try to capture. It's very frustrating.  The machine came installed with CS4 and we have tried to remove and then re-install. We have also tried removing and adding CS3 and have had similar results. Recently we purchased a school license for CS5 although for Premiere we had to install the CS4 version and still have gotten the same results. This was working fine for quite sometime and I can't come up with a resolution to what is causing the problem. Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions on what to look into correct the problem? Can I open psd file made in photoshop cs3 with photoshop ps2? Thanks in advance!

Actually you can open a CS3 file with smart filters in CS2
the only problem is CS2 will not understand the Smart filter and flatten it.
If you leave the smart filtered object alone in CS2 save the file and it should still be a smart filtered object in CS3

  • Acrobat Pro 9 with comments crashes

I'm having problems with consistant crashes from acrobat files marked with comments. They are PDF files that have been sent to several users and commented on.
Crashes when InDesign CS4 (6.0.2) is open and go back and forth between InDesign and Acrobat Pro 9 (9.1.2). Got a sense that it is related to the comments list or markings on the page. Below is error note from MacOS auto form (OSX 10.5.7):
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000000c6eb986b
    Crashed Thread:  0
Any thoughts or processes I should try?
    Thanks.

thanks for the push to getting a cache cleaner -- tried and will see if it keeps the problem in hand.

I also happens when I try to export movies with Motion 5.
Does anyone have the same problem with my new iMac?

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    First, empty the Trash.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it, then drag or copy it — do not type — into the Terminal window:
    find . $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
Press return. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "35." Please post it in a reply.

  • InDesign CS3 (XP SP2) crashes when placing files

    Hi,
every time I try to place an image file etc. into InDesign CS3 (Windows XP, service pack 2) the "place" dialogue pops up for a split second. Then, InDesign freezes. Version Cue is not activated (when I was activated Photoshop CS3 would do the same).
I'd be more than happy if someone has a hint since naturally InDesign is pretty useless when you cannot place anything. On a sidenote though you can drag files from the explorer into CS3 without it crashing.
    Any help's greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear the trick didn't work. Another oft mentioned idea is to open a dialog in Photoshop and resize it. A third is to hit Alt + Spacebar, then M, and then an arrow key, and finally to move the mouse around and see if the dialog appears at the edge of the screen.
The 3-key keyboard shortcut only works when you are opening InDesign from the start menu or a desktop shortcut, and you have to be REALLY fast. Renaming the prefs files (while ID is closed) is more reliable, but won't give you any indication that the files are being replaced, other than you'll see the welcome screen and everything will be reset to defaults.
