DW CS4 not updating sites from template. Why?

Ok, this has become quite annoying. Can anyone tell me if this is a common occurrence with DW, because I just started my website and, if it's going to do this, I'd just as soon use Adobe GoLive or something else to create the site.
Here's an rerun of what happened:
Created Template
Saved Template
File > New > Page from template > My Site > My Template > Checked box that says update page from template > Create
Save new site (blah.html)
Make change to template
Save template, doesn't update newly created site (in fact, doesn't even show that it is).
Rebuilt site cache, same nonsense. Tried to update manually via modify / templates menu, same nonsense. Resaved template, recreated page, same nonsense.
Irritated. This process is taking way too long for something that shouldn't be happening. Anyone know of a surefire fix, as this has happened a couple of times.
Oh, and yes, when I open the page, there is a marker in the top right corner identifying the template which it is associated with (in case anyone was wondering).

I have DW CS4, not DW4 (sorry about that).
Still, I read through the SSI information you sent me and that looks.... less of a hassle.
I'll go that route.

airport utility showed me these screens. this time able to post figs. but was able to update the software after couple of resets

Update Pages from template CS6 not working

I have just begun to create a website and as yet only have four pages each created from a template. When I add a menu item to the Spry Menu Bar in the template this appears to be successful. However,when I try to update the pages created from the modified main template the log file reports:
Files examined 4
Files updated 0
Files which could not be updated 0
the settings are for "Files that use ... main template, and the Templates box is ticked. All that pages I want to update are also listed when I try to update them. It's just that they're not getting updated. Has anybody got any suggestions as to where I am going wrong? Thanks.

im having a similar issue...updated our template many times before and had dw update the pages and pages are not updating...even when dw says its been updated!! starting to loose my mind a little as dw checked out 80% of the pages on our site, but did not update.
strange thing is when i open up the individual pages i can change the bit in the template that should not be editable. looked at the template and cannot figure out what happened.
our website is www.whitewatertours.com and it is the index.dwt template...changing the "reservations" link in the top bar nav.

IWeb not updating site changes, even overnight!

Hi iWeb-experts,
Having problems with iWeb and have waded through the site and other forums and yet to find a solution.
Site is marccheckley.com. I successfully moved the site before MobileMe closed shop and made updates to the site a few months back.
Now I'm trying to upload further changes but iWeb has stopped functioning. I get no status that the site is being changed, as it was previously. And I know this has not happened as I have it linked to my Facebook and no "updated website" has popped up on my Wall.
I even left it overnight to update website changes and still nothing. Even clearing brower's cache etc. I tested the FTP connection all good and nothing been changed since my last updates a while back.
All 'pages' of site remain red, not updated in iWeb.
Really not sure what's happened. Nothing but probs since the closure of MobileMe, my podcast is still on hiatus due to linking problems, now website issues with iWeb.
Anyone have an idea and fix?

If you are using the iWeb FTP to upload make sure the box next to "Update my Facebook profile when I publish this site" is unchecked. Checking this box prevents the FTP from working.
Also make sure you have no bad file names with spaces or special characters - particularly image files. This will halt the upload process.

Recreate site from template - publishing feature

I have a site with Publishing feature activated and I need to recreate the same site on another server (actually, it is many sites). How can I do that? I don't have "save as template" option, but i have created template through url /_layouts/savetmpl.aspx.
But, how can I recreate this site on another server (also publishing feature activated)?
Or is the approach with saving site definition better solution? How do I do that, can I recreate site from site definition??

You can use the template you created by downloading it from the Site Template Gallery of your current site. Then take the .stp file and upload it to the site template gallery of the new server where you want to make the template available. After
that, the template should become available in your creation dialog.
A better way to recreate the site exactly as is, on another farm, is to use either Powershell or good old STSADM.
Execute this from the current server in a SharePoint Powershell window:
stsadm -o backup -url http://your-site-url-here -filename SiteFileName.bak -nolock
Then copy the SiteFileName.bak file to a server in the target farm and from a SharePoint Powershell window, execute this:
stsadm -o restore -url http://new-target-url-to-use -filename C:\Path-to-Backup-file\SiteFileName.bak
If the site already exists and you wish to overwrite it, simply add the -overwrite switch to the above command.

Wher I try to save template to another site, I don't have it available when I want to create new site (because of Publishing feature), I have only two templates from Publishing template, not Custom.
These Powershell commands are great, but this only works for top level site. Is there similar solution for subsites?

CC programs not downloading with complimentary subscription. And CS6 applications not updating at all. Why is this?

I have a complimentary subscription to CC and run CS6 Master Collection. The CC apps will not download, and the CS6 apps will not update. I followed the online instructions, checked for bugs and spoke to support on the weekend - who could not help. They suggested speaking directly to Adobe on a weekday. This must be an ongoing issue. Any solutions much appreciated.

Do not get songs from Limewire, why? read...

When I started getting songs from Limewire myself, I saw that when I scanned my computer for viruses, there was ALOT, and Limewire is said to be an illegal site from what I heard.......

I use limewire and have no problems downloading music, HOWEVER downloading programs/games is dangerous unless you have virus protection software and the like. Programs/games that have a fille size of 876kb 75kb or a seemingly small size for what you are downloading are often viruses. When downloading music you should also only download songs that are filetypes you recognize.
And yes, in the U.S. it is illegal I believe. I don't think it should be because most artists make millions but thats another conversation.

Template not Updating Site

In a table cell in my template, I first deleted the contained
library item, THEN introduced a new library item. When asked to
update all pages based on the template, I clicked YES. But no pages
were updated.
The cell in this case contains an editable region.
How can I solve this?

Dreamweaver CC "Update pages from template" process seems to go on forever

Hello, whenever I edit a template with my new Dreamweaver CC (migrating from CS6), the dialog never reaches the "done" point. It seems to go on forever.
So it looks like the update process doesn't end, but actually it ends (most of the time): if I close the dialog and check the files, they're usually updated. Sometimes they're not, though.
So I was wondering, is this a known bug? Or is there something I can do to try and fix this?

I haven't heard of this one recently, so it's probably not a bug in the software itself.

Post back if those don't do the trick.

Sync not updating "plays" from iPhone in 10.5.3

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 3G to a 4S, and also to 10.5.3.3, and I'm not positive at which point syncing stopped updating the "plays" count in iTunes. It seems much more likely to be an iTunes issue though. Anyway, when I view the music on the iPhone in iTunes, the play count is properly updated; it just doesn't get properly incremented in the library. Any suggestions to fix?
Other details: Win 7, manually manage music, backup to iCloud (I tried changing this to "backup to this computer" and re-synced, but that didn't solve it).
I searched previous discussions and didn't find a solution that applied.

I get slightly different behavior from the terminal that you do:
$ cp test-file.txt /Volumes/webdav.domain.tld/
cp: /Volumes/webdav.doamin.tld/test-file.txt: No such file or directory
The files do NOT copy.
If I mount a different webdav folder on the same machine, the file DOES copy.
In the finder I get the "You cannot copy some of these items to the destination because the names are too long or contain invalid characters for the destination"
The file is named test-file.txt.

This second one works just fine. other than one being under /usr/local/www and the other under /home/user/ I can't figure any difference. Is it possible this is some apache2 weirdness?
(note this is under a user location instead of /usr/local/www) and it works fine. Permissions are identical (www:www on the folder and all files).
